Sorry for the copy and paste but apparently this is doing the rounds on a few different websites.

Honda set to solve United's Problems?

****************** are both reporting that Sir Alex Ferguson is looking to make a move for CSKA Moscow midfielder Keisuke Honda.

The transfer offer is reported to be a player-plus-cash deal involving Dimitar Berbatov heading to Russia along with £4 million.

The Japanese superstar has already attracted the attention of a number of Premier League clubs including Liverpool and Arsenal. Arsene Wenger is particularly keen on Honda, describing him as a "genius" following his impressive showing at the 2010 World Cup.

A free-kick specialist and a player who could solve United's lack of creativity in midfield, Honda has continued his fine form that brought him to the world's attention in South Africa – despite a number of injuries over the past year.

With Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez keeping Dimitar Berbatov far from Alex Ferguson's first team plans as a partner for Wayne Rooney; the United striker – who was the club's top scorer in the Premier League last season – may want to weigh up his options away from Old Trafford.

Disappointingly for the Bulgarian, he has done well for United whenever called upon this season. Yet, the young striking options available at United may be a signal that Berbatov's time at the club are coming to an end.

United have also reportedly been watching Honda's team-mate Alan Dzagoev, as another option for their midfield problems.

I'd be happy with that personally.

Matt

Believable23 Unbelievable11

That sounds very good, i hope it happens. Never a bad thing to have a top class asian player in the ranks, very marketable!

RedDevill19

Agree3 Disagree0

Still think his injuries are a massive worry.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Wont happen IMO. The deal may well go through but I would suspenct it will be a cash only deal. I think I can only remember a player plus cash deal happening and that was Eto Ibrahimovich. I also think that Berbatov would like to go back to Germany.

I think Honda would be a shrewd buy should we sign him. Very marketable and a good player. Get the checque book out Fergie lol

Jay

Agree0 Disagree0

Not giving an opinion on this rumour as i can remember a very similar thing being said 12/18 months ago. Am just pointing out etoo/ibra isnt the only player/cash deal ever. Cole/Gillespie(sp) is one of the most successful player/cash deals i can remember and not just for us. Also more recently milner/ireland - i think.

Agree0 Disagree0

^^ sorry forgot to sign off

Paso

Agree0 Disagree0

Paso true indeed my mistake mate. Still not a common thing though are they?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not the most common but definitely still occur. Can imagine it is a bigger thing outside the top tiers, is also lots of loans of players included in transfer deals - wasn't shelvey sent to blackpool as a sweetner in adam deal? or did i just make that one up? lol

Eds is there any possibilty of united attempting to sign hazard now Chelsea seem to have started the ball rolling with regards to his transfer? Please tell me good news? {Ed007's Note - I don't think so. Chelsea seem to be in the driving seat but there is someone high up within the club who needs convinced that he is right for them. The convincing process is ongoing I have been told.}

im hearing alot of talk coming out of everton that sir alex is very interested in mario felllani, i hope not one of our best players, man utd would get a gem of a player ,im wondering has anyone heard anytin about it ? garever

Believable4 Unbelievable28

Hmm, mario? he's a new one...

Agree1 Disagree2

With that haircut he deserves to stay in Liverpool

Agree3 Disagree2

I hope so top top player thinks he would be imense in front of our back four really hope this is true {Ed007's Note - The Everton fans call him Screech.}

Agree4 Disagree0

I have been saying he would be ideal for us for a long time, young, strong, good in the air, decent passer and gets box to box and scores goals. Dont think he will be cheap though.

Agree0 Disagree0

As you know I have very good contacts at Everton. Fellini is considered to be the fittest player physically and mentally and yes he does live in Manchester but United have shown no interest which is a shame as he could do a good job. RAINFISHTROMBONE

Interesting to read quotes about Nathanial Clyne on the official website. A young, english, left back, with good experience available for a nominal fee - sounds like a fergie deal to me! Just a question on whether he's good enough (which I'm not sure of) and whether we need him!

What do you think?

Hobbes

Believable5 Unbelievable11

I thought he was a right back.

Shappy

Agree4 Disagree1

Think he can play both but though he was more of a righty than a lefty.

Agree0 Disagree0

I said a few weeks back United should be in for him, he's gonna be a star. Also pretty sure he's a Right Back not Left.

eds, any truth to the maicon rumours? personally i think he is over-rated and would be a bad purchase. {Ed002's Note - Inter will use him to try and lure Tevez from Manchester City if they can. If not expect Malaga, Real Madrid and PSG to show an interest. I don't have any confirmation of interest from MU.}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I bet his agent is just saying united are interested so A) his price goes up or B) man city will do everything they can to sign him so we don't sing him, even if it means being in the tevez deal...?

Since its my birthday today my only wish is for 2 young lads to sign long term contracts.... Come on Morrison/Pogba secure your future's and make me a happy man.... HERBIE {Ed007's Note - Happy Birthday Herbie mate, have a blast, but don't go bananas!!}

Believable17 Unbelievable2

Happy birthday but morisson and pogba are coming to city

If Berbatov is sold do you think we'll see Pogba and Morrison offered new contracts as the wage bill will have been cut?

Believable10 Unbelievable6

It has nothing to do with the wage bill - we quite rightly do not pander to youth players.

Newcastle United are set to seal a deal for Freiburg star Papiss Cisse, Sky Sports understands.

That means Demba Ba is definitely leaving.

Believable6 Unbelievable20

Maybe signing him to partner Ba?

Ports

Agree6 Disagree1

No it means they are signing a new player for a position they are weak in. They only have Ba and Best as recognised strikers and Ba is at the ACN for the next coupke of months. So they need a striker.

Shappy

Agree3 Disagree1

No... it just means they are replacing him whilst he is at the ACON....

Agree3 Disagree0

Not to us i hope.

Agree1 Disagree0

No it doesnt Demba Ba could be gone for up to a month and apart from Best they are not exactly flooded with quality strikers.

Stop with the putting 2 + 2 together and coming up with 10 !

Having said that IF he has release clause in his contract he could be moving but just cause they sign this guy does not make it DEFINITE that he will leave.

Devil Dust.

Agree1 Disagree1

I think u'll find that Papiss is also on his way to the ACN with Senegal.

Agree3 Disagree0

Newcastle were looking at Cisse over a year ago, he has always been a target and they would have signed him to play alongside Ba after the Maiga deal fell through. Ba seems to be playing well at the moment, but I am not sure he would be consistently good, he could just be having a good spell.

Sydney!

Agree5 Disagree0

Cisse is going to the ACON...

rpc

Agree5 Disagree0

It cant be to cover ba while he's away cause cisse is about to go join up with the senegal squad for the acon, surely its to partner him, would be a major backwards step to let ba leave, they've made a great start and will surely want to build on that,

Agree3 Disagree0

Cisse Plays for Senegal he is going to the ACON. Just an extra striker to have. Nothing wrong in Newcastle getting a bit of depth in the striking department without selling anyone. The Ameobi brothers haven't showed great goal scoring ability as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wrong cisse is signing to be demba ba's partner upfront

Agree0 Disagree0

I think it's a good signing, but shooting themselves in the foot a bit next the AFCON comes round. I think Ben Arfa and Vukic can probably fill the deeper lying of the forwards. Best isn't all that bad and is a decent enough striker for them, I feel.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree but ba will stay

Out of curiosity, who would we prefer, Shaqiri, Ocampos, Vadillo or Hazard? Bear in mind the prices that they come at..?

Id probably want Hazard, but Shaqiri would be a good bet.

RedDevil19

Believable15 Unbelievable1

Hazards the better player but the most expensive and has openly said he want's to play for Real Madrid, so how long would he be with us for and would he want to jump ship to spain at the first chance? Thats why i'd go for Shaqiri as he's better value for money and is more likely to stick around long term.

Shappy

Agree10 Disagree1

I'd much prefer Shaqiri his value is far less than Hazards. I agree with what "Shappy" is saying about Hazard jumping ship for Spain.

Shaqiri more than impressed me in the CL. He seems like a versatile midfield player. I heard figures being thrown around of him only costing £15 million, great price.
Considering Liverpool £18 million for Downing.

Strider98

Agree5 Disagree1

Shaqiri and Ocampos for me. I'd play Shaqiri in the centre though, he's a lump.

Sanshine

Agree2 Disagree1

If we get 5 or 6 good years out of him then thats good surely? Sign him for around 25 million and sell him for what, 60? Thats good resale value and we'll have got some good years out of him.

RedDevil19

Agree2 Disagree8

Well in the summer Nani was up for sale but he chose to stay which to me surgest Sir Alex is open to or maybe wants to move him on. What if we sold Nani? we'd get at least 25m for him but with Park likely to go either this summer or next and Giggs not able to play as a winger properly anymore this would just leave us with Valencia and Young, we'd need two wingers to come in so which two would you go for? and to make it interesting they have to cost less than 30m combined as lets face it were not flush atm.

My choices would be Xherdan Shaqiri and Kevin De Bruyne,
both 20yo and our exciting wingers/forwards, both can play on the left on the right or through the centre and both look to create chances more than hold onto the ball for too long.

So which two would you sign?

Shappy

Agree6 Disagree0

"RedDevil19"

I don't think we'd get 5/6 years out of him, i think we'd get 3/4 tops, also with new FFP rules coming in then it could have a knock on effect to transfer fees(Clubs can't spend if they don't earn it), then add into that that he'd have a year or two left on his contract at that time then we would be lucky to get more than we paid for him. So we would sign him for a huge fee, pay him a huge wage, help him develope as a player then just as he hits his peak he'd be off to madrid for little more than we paid for him and ripping apart our team which would have to be rebuilt due to the departure of such a player ala what happened with Ronaldo apart from Hazard would be with us for less time and cost us more.

Shappy

Agree4 Disagree0

Say Shaqiri is a huge success though, whose to say he won't move to Spain? Or even someone like Bayern, he says that he highly rates the Bundesliga.. in which case we'd possibly lose him anyway.

RedDevil19

Agree2 Disagree0

I agree. I dont want players that use United as a stepping stone. Manchester United should be where they want to finish and if not they can do one!

Woffsta

Agree3 Disagree0

True but thats the same for any player, But Shaqiri has never said he wants to play for a certain club or in a certain league he said he thinks the prem and the Bundesliga are his favourite leagues. Where as Hazard has always maintained that Madrid is his dream club and he wants to play there. Also there is a 15m price differance in the fees for them two at least then the fact that Hazard would be on far higher wages it just doesn't look like a deal that makes much sense to me. But thats just my opinion.

Shappy

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm sorry just saw someone say Nani's worth 25mil? Definitely not. Torres - £50m, Carroll - £35m. Realistically speaking i can't see Nani going anywhere, he's too intergrated with our squad, everyone seems to get on with him and he knows he's a big part of a great club so why would he leave?

Shaqiri - Cheaper, better team player and seems to have a good attitude. Also a left footed wideman would give another option. Hazard's supposedly has some kind of attitude problems, i can see him being a bit arrogant, and find it hard to settle all the while Nani is around.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

De Bruyne is pretty much a nailed on signing for Chelsea, plus he's way too lightweight in my books.

I still think if we could get someone of quality in, even if they want to go to madrid in set number of years it would be silly to just coast along and keep looking untill we find someone from Manchester who fits that bill.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

I am a big fan Shaqiri amd think he could do a great job for us but here is one from the left field what about Adam Johnson? I know hes at City but a natural left footed winger and doesnt always play but could be ideal replacement for Giggs?

Agree3 Disagree2

Funnily enough, I thought Adam Johnson to! He fits in with the young english talent SAF is looking to bring in and had a good football education with Middlesborough academy. With a bit of coaching and being at the club with Giggsy to learn from either through Giggs staying on as a player for 1 more year or as a coach which hopefully he will go on to do then Johnson could go on and be an important player with us and England! Question is could we get him from Sh@*$y? Would be a tricky deal to tie up!

Ports

Agree2 Disagree0

Hows about bringing in Shaqiri for the left and Honda for the middle? Not that expensive. I'd be happy with that

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Gav, Shaqiri & Honda would be perfect in both the terms- Creativity & Economical..!

Here's just an interesting quote from a source close to Hazard:

"It all depends on the project put to Eden and the ambition he senses from whoever he is talking to. Real (Madrid) like him, and he likes them but, as with any player, he would view Manchester United as an great opportunity."

Perhaps this adds fire to the rumour, or its trying to create interest - a ploy from Lille? Or an attempt from Eden to get a move to us? Really hard to say, however I think if it could be pushed through then i'd say go for it. He's the best thing available out there at the minute and we could do a lot worse.

Go for Eden this January and then in summer go in for a new center back, another striker and a central midfielder or two. I'd go for Subotic, Xhaka/Rodwell (maybe both) and up top someone like Pozuelo maybe, Erick Torres another option depending on work permits. SAF will not go for a 'name' up top, a rough diamond who we haven't caught word of will be the man.

RedDevil19

Believable9 Unbelievable2

There are alot of rumours regarding citys interest in hummels, and as much as i would want subotic to join us i cant see dortmund selling both and i fear citys money will in the end settle which one they sell, we may move for him later tho, maybe closer to when vidic retires.
ed do you know if the signing of reus would mean goetze may become available? (if he is i think he may end up in madrid and not us)

dags

Agree3 Disagree0

Rodwell is not utd material, average player for everton.we need world class

Agree5 Disagree5

I think Gotze will definatly be at Madrid within two seasons. As for Subotic, who knows really - i think its a shame Real stole Varane from us last minute.

RedDevil19

Agree3 Disagree0

Get grip, man utd havent got that kind of money to buy any of these players.boycott all things united and stop the cash flow to the glaziers.........then we might be in that league.......think about it.........whats the cheapest thing united could do this window?........bring back an old boy.......wont be costing a bean..........the sad truth stares you in the face.......................

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Jan 2012 09:16:21
I can't even guess on transfers for this window...was excited by possible Honda deal,I personally think him operating in centre would work well for us.However alot of people talking about schneider etc lol would be funny if we took schneider maybe we can get his best mate too nagatomo at left back :D

Believable7 Unbelievable3

I'm sorry, was going to let it go but he name has been mentioned so many times on here now please can we get it correct - S N E I J D E R!
Or is schneider a new player I have not heard of?

news papers sayin we're interested in michael vorm?? hypothetically good or bad addition?

Believable13 Unbelievable6

Good, wouldn't be too expensive, consistant performer.

Negative effect for De Gea/Lindegaard though

Agree10 Disagree2

Never heard so much rubbish in all of my life. We have two better keepers in DDG & Lindegaard. We also have two very good number 3 & 4 in Amos and Johnstone. I wouldn't listen to this rumour.

Sydney!

Agree7 Disagree6

In Fairness Syd, he is young and has made some seriously impressive performances this season and if United hadn't of got DDG I'm sure we would be looking at him now. Won't happen but not as far fetched as people think just a couple of months too late :)

Gaz {Ed001's Note - it was not the papers saying it, it was a direct quote from a director at Swansea, he said that 4 Prem teams had enquired, and mentioned Chelsea and United as two of them.}

Agree5 Disagree1

Syd
also the swansea director has said this

Agree4 Disagree0

Lindegaard n de gea better than vorm?
That is really funny, syd. Cudnt stop laughing.
Indian Buzzer

Agree3 Disagree3

For once I agree with Sydney :O

RedDevil19

Agree2 Disagree3

He isn't young Gaz, he's 28. I can only see him coming in if one of Lindegaard or De Gea leaves. He will want to play regular football and as it stands he would be behind those two.

RedDevil19

Agree2 Disagree3

28 for a keeper is 22 for an outfield player, That is young my friend.

Gaz.

Agree2 Disagree0

Probably just one of SAF's clever tactics to get DDG, Lindegaard to up their game. Have actually preferred Anders in goal lately tbh. DDG really needs to eat a full english breakfast and a roast everyday, bulk up abit and learn to deal with set pieces

Ozwald

Agree2 Disagree0

The guys to small. Hes got great reactions, and a good leap, but call me old fashioned, but i think a succesful keeper is a tall keeper, and built like smicks and van der sar.

aaallj5

Agree3 Disagree0

DDG He's a typical spanish keeper, Good shot stopper, good reactions, seen his distribution and its impressive. But in Spain keepers are not great at dealing with set pieces. hes young so his experience is not the same as the other big spanish keepers, so having to deal with big strikers trying to take you out at a corner he doesnt like to deal with it. Only 6 months or so into his United still got plenty of time. He needs to bulk up, i think he will, cos i remember both nani and ronaldo bulked up to help deal with the physicality of the premierleague. Linegaard looks more commanding in goal epsecially with set pieces rather than DDG.
