When asked if there were areas of his squad he wanted to strengthen, Ferguson said: "No. The January transfer market has never been the best market and that has proved itself over the years.

"You get very few big transfers - all the big transfers are done in the summer."

Would that be conducted after July 1st and in the next financial year by chance?

It does appear there are options in January but despite being short in midfield, potentially selling Nani , Ferguson indicates no business.

We shall see

"You get very few big transfers - all the big transfers are done in the summer."

Could this be a hint that Sir Alex will make a big transfer this summer? I'm gutted that Moura chose PSG over us. I think he will be special.

Agree0 Disagree0

I cant see anyone coming in this transfer window for a number of reasons the first being we are back to full fitness and the team looks like its going to go on the rampage think the last two perfomances have proved we can still play attractive football and still win the old fashioned way with flaire and power lots of people been writing Sir Alex off and saying Rooney and others are not up to sctach the likes of Carrick Cleverley and Young are not upto it but i think you will find that now the team is getting used to each other and injurys are over and top players coming back we really look a dangerous threat and teams better start beleaving we are number one again cause it is only going to become harder to beat us i think Van Persie is galvenizing us and this cycle of players is speacil Jones and Smalling two of the finest defensive players to come through anywere Rooney Van Persie as good a strike force as any Young looking a tricky creative winger and Carrick pulling the stings in the middle with plenty of forward passes Cleverys has also given us a show case of his real skill and is young enough to improve to a world class player beleave me or not there doing it right now top of the league and finaly playing the sort of football we as fans love long may it continue and save the money for the summer when we will probably buy Baines and a cm and winger when there is more to choose and better prices Katef Katef.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am sure we will only buy if another club goes for one of our summer targets or Nani is sold. We may even wait til the summer to replace Nani. If Nani is sold I wouldn't rule out us making a bid for Walnut, with the bid being rebuffed by Arsenal. AW is a tough cookie to deal with and the club will not part with £10m when they could sign him for free in the summer.

Yep, another winger just what we need.

Sir Alex will sign a midfielder in January. He is only saying this to keep the players focused over christmas. Trust me a young midfielder will be signed. Man Utd 4 lyf

I think we need a talented spaniard in our midfield. Watching carzola last night and then you see what silva and mata do for their teams there brilliantly technically as I'm sure your all aware. Isco should be well on our radar. What do you guys think?

GD

Believable47 Unbelievable8

We have Kagawa that can play that role. Don't forget him!

Agree4 Disagree0

Agree with this. Ideally we would set up similar to City's 4231 formation with Kagawa coming off the left onto his right foot and a player of the ilk of Silva/Mata coming off the right. I'm not sure SAF will move away from using direct winger's though?

Sergio Canales should have chosen us ahead of Real Madrid. Just look what's happened to him. I knew from the moment he made his choice it was the wrong choice.

Moen#7

Agree0 Disagree0

True but how many Spaniards are gonna turn down Madrid? Only really if they've come through Barca or Atletico's academies. Like Torres/ De Gea or Fabregas.

Agree0 Disagree1

Would love to see a talented, creative Spaniard in our ranks, and at between 15-18 mil I reckon Isco could prove a bargain. But the other guys are right, say he has 3 or 4 top class seasons with us, it won't be long before Madrid or Barca come sniffing, and I highly doubt he'd turn them down, no matter how much he loved it at OT.

Luke

Agree0 Disagree0

Isco is the player for us, weather we play with 4231 or 442. He can play in both formation, creative, great first touch, wizard on ball, strong(like mata and silva) good crosses.
He is like Mata/Silva with good body strength, plays from right left and middle.
We have to buy him( even if he moves to spain after 4 years, he will still have great sell value)

Ed002 Is there any interest in Strootman from Arsenal apart from Man Utd and AC Milan or its just paper talk?

Shaun {Ed002's Note - A number of clubs including Arsenal have shown an interest.}

I really do think that this cuptied thing is nonsense, if we can secure the signing of a quality player in January we should do it. Does it matter if he is cup tied in the CL? He can still help us win the EPL and the FA Cup - the bedding in period from January to the end of the season would help the player a lot I feel.

Fresh!

Believable44 Unbelievable3

True to an extent, but a "quality player" is usually still involved in the CL, and/or is more expensive to purchase mid-season due to the value they hold to the club.

Grubbo

Agree0 Disagree1

I think because all established quality players would want to play in Champions League and would not favour a winter move or because it wont allow much time for them to adapt to new surroundings or a new league.

Fresh i agree, if we can get them in in january being cup tied doesn't matter just gives us an extra five months of bedding in. Better than rushing in july and only having pre season of a few weeks. Mort

Agree0 Disagree0

What player ( playing in the champions league ) is willing to give it up to join another team, when he can just wait for the summer transfer window, allowing himself to have a preseason tour and time to adapt ?

so PSG have come out and said Ronaldo and mourhino are on there summer shopping list, wouldn't surprise me.

Believable7 Unbelievable14

I hope Ronaldo goes to PSG, anywhere but City. Couldn't give a monkey's about where Jose goes.

Sydney!

It would be a nightmare to see him in the EPL playing fo ran other club
jred

Agree2 Disagree1

I can't see Ronaldo leaving Real until he has won the Champions league with them, as this is his dream!

Dispite all the ongoing problems there hes not one to give up easily!

CrazyS

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't see Ronaldo wasting his time in France. He'll either come home to us or sign a new deal in Spain.

Fresh!

Agree1 Disagree0

That's right Jred, and by the time he is finished with PSG (30+) he will be ready to return back to us.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

They are probably posturing for a new contract.
Can't see Ronaldo leaving Spain myself.

Supasub

Agree0 Disagree0

You can be assured he will not go to City he has said united are "his team" and he wouldn't go to city. If he goes to another club it will be us or PSG, probably PSG because they are the only ones who could afford the 160m reported asking price. I think he will sign a new contract anyway. Sounds like Real are replacing a lot of their players next summer and it wouldn't surprise me if Ronny had a big influence on that. It's no secret he doesn't get on with Alonso (supposedly going to Liverpool next summer) and some other team mates.

Dan

Ronaldo isnt stupid enough to go to psg and ruin his career, he will be off the radar and thats not him

Ed/anyone? Is their a possibility that if Zenit return again for Nani then Witzel could maybe come the other way as part of any deal. We've either bid for Witzel or had a very strong interest in him before he moved and apparently reported today Zenit are imploding with problems at the club.

Supasub {Ed002's Note - Manchester United made efforts to buy Witsel but a move now - no, not in January.}

Believable17 Unbelievable7

I don't see why Zenit would sell Witsel. Plus, with all thats been said, I don't see why Nani would step foot near Zenit. The club may have spoken up against the fan group but would Nani really want to go and play for those fans?

TK-Red

Agree1 Disagree1

I don't think Zenit would want Nani now because of their stupid racist fans. :/ Disgusting what they said.
