Are we interested in both Mitrovic and Preat of Anderlecht at all Edd's? Cheers! Also, there is talk of Alderweireld not wanting to go back to spain? Would we be interested? Cheers guys! (Let's not do the Belgian thing as well) sorry!

According to Ed002 we have recent interest in Mitrovic, I know nothing of Preat though.

Has mitrovic not signed for Newcastle?

If you don't want us to do the Belgian thing then stop posting about random Belgians lol

He's not exactly a random Belgium. 27 goals in 50 games including the Champions and Europa League at 20 years old . He averaged approx 0.7 goals a game in the u21's&19's for Serbia.

I think he has it in him to be a very successful striker.

Firstly they are not random Belgians, especially Mitrovic, as he is Serbian! And secondly, may I say Thank You to Rewz for backing me up! Cheers Fella!

Edds, are we SERIOUSLY interested in Carlos Bacca? Yeah he's good, be really, at 28/29? Someone get me a gun!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Not sure. Never seen him play}

01 Jun 2015 16:18:45
Really hope we don't get him. Strongly agree with Ronnie.

No thank you. Has only really come to the attention of everyone at age 28/9. do we really need another Colombian past his prime on big money?

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 19:20:49
Not saying we should sign him , but it's harsh to call him past his prime and he wouldn't be on a fraction of what Falcao was on

{Ed025's Note - his brother..chew..is a better bet..hes out of this world.. :)

Hahaha had me in a wrinkle that one 025.

Edds, there has been talk of the pool signing Vietto? Can I ask, why aren't we going there? Vietto is top draw AND young enough to get EVEN better! The price being quoted, and I may be wrong is peanuts for a player of his calibre! Why are we not going after this guy?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - He is nearly certain to go to Atletico Madrid}

01 Jun 2015 14:58:52
Cheers Edd, least that clears that up, I nearly cried when those rumours started!!!

Does that mean Griezmann will leave?

01 Jun 2015 19:57:16
It would mean mandzukic would leave

@Ed001

Have you heard anything about United's interest in Schneiderlin?

Would be a very good and sensible signing IMO and the perfect replacement for Carrick.

What's your opinion of him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Schneiderlin has interest from United, Arsenal and Spurs, but he wants Champions League football so that pretty much leaves it between United and Arsenal or staying put. Not sure he is a good replacement for Carrick, he would be perfect to play with him and Herrera, but he is better when he plays as a central midfielder, rather than holding. He needs that freedom to support the attack to be at his best. I think he is an excellent player, good touch, good passer, can tackle, good engine, knows how and when to press. Oh and has a decent shot on him when around the box. I think he would be a good fit, though he could replace Carrick, I think it would not get the most out of him to have him sitting in front of the defence protecting it.}

Thanks for the swift reply Ed001.

I think he has good positional sense and a good tackler too. Doesn't lose the ball easily and can distribute the play well. Got good height on him as well. Although playing Carrick's position might not bring the best out of him, I think it would suit our team and he would do a much better job than Blind. In any case we have Carrick next year and a midfield three of Carrick Schneiderlin and Herrera would be very strong and stable.

If we can add someone like a Gundogan or a Naingollan to that we will have a wealth of midfield options and can challenge on all fronts with the front three and full backs getting a lot of freedom.

I'm really excited about the prospect of Schneiderlin signing. Not the most flashy or big name player but adds so much balance.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I agree, he is a much better choice than Blind for that role. I really like Schneiderlin, it is good when a player you call for while in the lower divisions proves you right when he gets the chance in the top flight. People used to say he wasn't good enough when he was starring in League One and couldn't figure out why Wenger kept trying to sign him. Now he is being courted by some of the top teams in European football. I wouldn't hold my breath on him though, Wenger has the edge due to the long courtship the two have shared.}

01 Jun 2015 14:44:16
But Ed001, due to the abundant midfield wealth of Arsenal, it surely gives us a little edge over Arsenal, doesn't it? He would be the soul of our midfield for years.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I guess so, though they don't really have anyone like Schneiderlin, they have been mostly relying on Cazorla there.}

01 Jun 2015 11:59:11
Edd's, how are you all? Good I hope?

Quick question?

Any further info on which goalkeepers we are looking at? We have Valdes I know, and made some good saves against Hull? But, something still tells me he's not going to be our number 1? Could we have an insight into who we may be looking at? (Please not Lloris, please!)

Cheers, Ronnie.

(Or Cech for that matter) thanks!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Begovic and Cech are the only two I know of interest in off the top of my head. I am sure there will be others abroad as well. Oh and Krul, I always forget about him as it seems unlikely he would join to be number two and I can't see how anyone could consider him good enough to be number one at Man Utd.}

01 Jun 2015 12:21:55
Cech in a heart beat for me.

01 Jun 2015 12:39:35
I personally would take Begovic, has always shown a great presence when we haven played vs stoke and he has done relatively well when you think of the teams they have to play.

But my personal choice would be to put faith into a young keeper again i.e. Leno from Leverkusen! Watched him a fair few times this season and last and he has impressed me a lot for what? 23/24 years old? He could excel into something special if he came to United.

01 Jun 2015 12:49:12
As we all do, I hope De Gea stays. But if he goes, I think the best keeper on the market is Cech. Maybe Leno too. I don't like Begovic, Krul, Lloris, their play is too risky, Bartez type :) Handanovic is good and little bit less risky than the above.

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 13:11:06
I've seen a lot of Bernd Leno on TV and would like him, but also Anthony Lopes of Lyon, he looks good, but can't see him leaving Lyon? Begovic I wouldn't mind, could get for a good price too I think?

Agree1 Disagree0

01 Jun 2015 16:25:13
Cech, Begovic, Krul and Lloris have all been considered. Subject to De Gea going Cech would be considered first followed by Begovic. Van Gaal is a big fan of Krul but questions would be asked about his ability. Although Tottenham are claiming Lloris is happy where is he is, some reports from his camp are that he would prefer to play Champions League football to reassure his place as French Number 1, Tottenham would be very reluctant to sell and I expect the figure that is received for De Gea would be used to purchase Lloris at the same price. Cech and Begovic are the cheaper preferred keepers at this moment in time.

It seems after what LVG said that we are looking at alternatives should De Gea go but I really would like us to give Valdes a go. Apart from the dodgy drop in the last game he made 2 great saves. He was also part of that great Barca team and only left because of his injury and because he didn't want to play for them anymore. I think we could get a cracking 3 or 4 years out of him. Maybe even more.
