002, sorry for my second question of the day. I notice a few newspapers and reporters are saying how close Luke Shaw to United is to being done. Do you know anything on the matter as of how close it is to being done/ likely to be done.

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - I cannot quantify "close" but MU would like a deal and SFC recognise that time may have come. Could drag out a while.}

We've now been linked in the Dutch press to Daryl Janmaat who is rb for feyenoord an Dutch squad. Ed do you know what the situation is with him as I saw something a last month or so linking him with a move to arsenal after the World Cup in guessing now to replace sagna.

{Ed002's Note - Up and coming player - no confirmation and I will ask.}

Only going to say what I have heard, most is probably bull, but it's a rumour site.
Shaw deal is done.
Evra is off to Juventus.
Claise deal is close.
Kroos is signing after World Cup.
Chelsea may consider Rooney.
Mata and Kagawa key.
Carrick to Newcastle.

Also reports in the express that talks are progressing between us and bayern and that deal for Kroos is almost agreed. Not so sure myself. Also another report that we are now looking at konoplankya.

Deal agreed to bring kroos to us is done according to the express, hopefully this is true, he would be my first option, the kids class.

Yet another newspaper is reporting that the deal to bring Luke Shaw to United is 95 percent done. If that's true it would be a great start to the tranfer window. He's going to be a major talent.

Believable34 Unbelievable12

Simmo me old mucka, where did you hear that one? I have heard the same from Stuart Mathieson. MU apparently are very confident and it should be announced shortly. Other sources saying it's just a formality now. I'll be interested to see how much we get him for. The figure in the media hasn't budged from £27m. So was it not a case of more money, but perhaps the pay structure?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Syd I meant to say that the story was from Stuart Mathieson of the MEN.
Lets hope it's true mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

The Manchester based journalists know more than people like to think mate. It's certainly close, I can feel it in my bones :)

Reports lvg has asked evra to stay, some on here won't be happy

It wouldn't be a bad thing so long as he isn't first choice. Still an important character for the dressing room.

Agree2 Disagree2

I can see why, we are losing a lot of experience in that back line. If Evra goes the most experienced player will be Evans.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah makes sense as a number 2. Obviously Buttner isn't fancied if Shaw is incoming and Evra being asked to stay.

Agree0 Disagree0

What's the difference in signing Evra and signing Sagna? Both will command a wage higher than £100k. Both will receive a tidy signing on fee. Only difference is Sagna would be first choice and Evra would be 2nd choice or worst he could be blocking Shaw. If Evra stays, Evra plays. We need to cut him loose.

Fresh, so are you saying Evra should play ahead of Shaw?

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd
There is no difference I hope the shaw deal hadnt gone t1ts up .
The article I read by your mate castle says evra played enough games last season to trigger a clause in his contract for a further year

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope but I think he has his uses in the squad. He should not play ahead of Shaw no way. But I think that there is too much to do to sign two left backs, as well as two centre backs and two central midfielders. Buttner doesn't seem to be in favour if we are bringing Shaw in and the Evra reports are true. Who would you see as our second choice left back?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred, the Shaw deal is pretty much done if most sources are to be believed. Certainly MU think they have their man. Southampton are looking at the Swansea LB to replace him. Chelsea are out of the running. I think it's done mate much to my surprise.

Evra wants to move to sunnier climes. The only way we could keep Evra is by enticing him with a large signing on fee. But he doesn't have many footballing years left in him, I think he will go. Castles is pretty spot on with all things French, not sure who his connection is though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Castle says evra is torn due to loyalty to the club

Agree0 Disagree0

The only worry that I have regarding this upcoming season with a new set of defenders coming in, will be the fact they all haven't played together before, along with De Gea.
this will take a little time to settle so getting experience back there may help. if not to start then at least a back up as that player can pass on knowledge.

002, do you think United will sign Robben this summer?

Cheers

Believable26 Unbelievable23

{Ed002's Note - I expect them to try.}

He seems far more likely than any other winger apart from maybe Sanchez but our interest in him doesn't seem too strong just now.

Agree0 Disagree1

How do you know the extent of our interest fresh?

Agree1 Disagree0

It is only in 2 papers, Fresh judged our interest based on how many papers say we are after a player don't you mate ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

Purely from what the editors have said.

Came out with this post day after madrid munich game
Really not at any liberty to say how I know, but I suspect from same avenues as 002.

The papers have picked up a couple of weeks later.
