Question for THE SEAGULL. Will the injury to Antonio Valencia force United into the market in january for a player like Alexis Sanchez or Sotiris Ninis?

DOUBT IT AS SAF NEVER PANIC BUYS. HOWEVER, DEAL FOR NINIS IS ALREADY IN PLACE AND IT'S A MATTER OF WHEN NOT IF. DON'T THINK UTD HAVE FUNDS TO BUY DIRECT REPLACEMENT FOR VALENCIA. SAF's TRANSFER FUNDS HAVE BEEN PUT ASIDE TO ENSURE AN ATTACKING AND/OR DEFENSIVE MIDFIELD PLAYER. THE SEAGULL WILL NOT CHEAT UTD FANS - AT PRESENT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION WHATSOVER ABOUT ANY POTENTIAL TARGETS. THE 3 AFOREMENTIONED TARGETS WERE FOR THE SUMMER OF 2010 ALTHOUGH I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT SAF WOULD JUMP AT THE CHANCE OF SIGNING ANY OF THESE IN JAN OR SUMMER SHOULD THEY BECOME AVAILABLE. I CAN TELL YOU WITH SOME CONVICTION THAT THE DEAL FOR XAVI WAS MUCH CLOSER THAN MANY OF YOU WOULD HAVE DREAMT POSSIBLE. OTHER FAN POSTINGS ON THIS SITE SUGGEST AS SUCH. NPRAK OR ED - DO YOUR SOURCES HAVE ANY INFO ABOUT THE DEAL THAT WAS IN PLACE FOR XAVI? TO BE FAIR, I WAS JUST AS GUTTED AS ANY UTD FAN THAT WE FAILED TO SPEND IN THE SUMMER. HOWEVER, FOR SOME FANS ON SITE TO ABUSE SEAGULL WHEN DEALS DID NOT TAKE PLACE WAS TOTALLY OUT OF ORDER! I NEVER ONCE SAID DEALS WERE 100% AND ALWAYS CLAIMED THAT THINGS WERE COMPLICATED. I ACTUALLY POSTED A COUPLE OF DAYS EARLY TO DECLARE THAT THERE WOULD BE NO DEALS DONE - BUT I THINK TECHNICAL PROBLEMS MEANT THAT THEY DID NOT APPEAR UNTIL AFTERNOON OF DEADLINE DAY. PERHAPS ED COULD VERIFY THIS? FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, MY SOURCE TOLD ME DURING THE SUMMER THAT THERE WOULD BE NO MAJOR SIGNINGS IN JAN UNLESS THERE WERE INJURIES TO KEY PLAYERS. IF THE SITUATION FURTHER DEVELOPS I WILL LET YOU KNOW, BUT AS OF NOW, MY SOURCE HAS NO INFORMATION ABOUT ANY TRANSFER PLANS.

Hi mate, i am not 'The Gull' but i may be able to answer your question, Sotiris Ninis was going to be bought regardless of Valencia's injury as a possible Scholes future replacement, this injury makes it a tad more likely as he can play on the right wing. Sanchez is not likely to be purchased, not for the 20m that Udinese want anyway. Alex Ferguson has no need to panic buy as come January Valencia will only be 2-3 months from returning. In the meantime United have Obertan, Bebe, Giggs, Rooney, Nani & Park that can play on the flanks.

Editor why has Gai Assulin not been given a contract by anybody? No one is interested in him at all and hes unattached?

Its like hes a convicted Paedo of something, surely hes worth a gamble for free? {ed's note - he is seen as a risk because of his attitude, but I don't know if his wage demands are an issue too. He might just not be as good as people though, after all he has had a number of trials but no team has snapped him up.}
