@What about buying Sanchez whilst developing Cleverley & Morrison then five years down the line sell Sanchez to Real Madrid for a tidy profit whilst having a young Cleverley & Morrison to take over from him.

I don't think you can keep a massive talent like Morrison happy with the "possibility" of a starting place in 5 years. He is ripping the opponents in the reserves and academy apart.

Personally i wouldn't buy a winger and concentrate on a very good defensive cm as a replacement for Carrick/Hargo and a good goalkeeper.

@I never said we will start playing him in five years, i would rotate Morrison & Sanchez when Morrison is ready, they are not just wingers, these pair can play everywhere in attack.

ngiak dreads being the devil's advocate here as you have so many fearsome supporters hanging onto your coattails,
but hypothetically speaking, if you and your gang allow,
that would be another 5 years of stunted development of these players if some regular is in front of them.
where are they going to play? in the reserves? the youth games? do you think they will "grow" with someone playing in the first team week in week out?
ngiak does not think so.
within these 5 years in all likelihood they will be sold for less than 5 million cos they want to play at a higher level than the reserve league and the carling cup.
the age old argument of foreigners stunting the development of local players?

27th December? As in sandwiched between 2 premier league games on 26th & 28th? I think SAF will be a tad busy planning maximum points than unveiling made up players!

Im expecting Sanchez in the summer, and maybe a sneaky bid for De Rossi.

Ive never been 1 to go into guess work about people speculating about players arriving in transfer windows but for sake of arguments & the Christmas spirit I will give it wild guess as who this unknown CM is who meant come in on 27th of Dec.

Ok you say his worth 36M

Without looking to much into, 36M Euros translate to about 30.4M Pounds, so in essence I'm looking for a 30M CM who

1) Is currently playing somewhere in Europe but not for a long time
2) Has good ball/passing control/ability
3) Is a raw talent? Which would mean his young but been around a bit to have such a bug 30M price tag
4) A physically strong midfielder with a presence about him, much like Essien you say, I would guess this CM much in box to box mould if anything with work rate, energy & pace to run up & down the pitch like theres no tomorrow
5) You say "Hargreaves was his plan for Midfield. . .so look for the most obvious replacement available." Well Hargo a CDM by trade but he was more box to box & had good defensive abilities & could get up the pitch to support any attacks if needs must to & I guess you would mean his not a direct replacement as Hargo main abilities never were good ball control & good passing ability his game more set to do read game not allow opposition CM's to get chances at goal & break up play. So im guessing you mean CM like Hargo but with more about him

Also to weigh in with few things such as any buy of any player in Jan would mean 2 things 1. His someone SAF rates highly enough to splash 30M-36M on & more importantly he isn't involved in the Champions League next year as SAF won't move for a player of that price who is cup tied in Champions League.

So now narrowed down that list I sitting here thinking about it for 10 mins whilst writing all above down I can think of 1 young man that's fits that bill which make a little sense in this moment.

A.Bilbao CM Javi Martinez?

Still young man & raw and not finished article as such his buyout stands about 30M mark & his very box to box but does have presence about him, his rated as next Xavi Alonso with passing abilities & ball control, not CAM or CDM but trade but can do both, can also score goals & help create with good enough tracking back & defensive awareness & positional sense when defending.

Currently not in UCL so is not cup tied, 22 years old so age SAF likes, CM who is rated by his club at around 30M, is a midfielder who very box to box like does have a presence about him but not a physical one its not rough & tough as such but he doesn't mind having scrap over ball & SAF is a fan of his, believe Liverpool looked at him to replace Alonso last summer but found a 30M price tag was awaiting them & move never happened. His contract to 2014 & thing that makes this seem bit murky his a Basque lad & think happy at A.Bilbao but I don't know if ever want to jump over to OT or not but A.Bilbao are a selling club, they make stars then sell them on for huge amounts when the times right, so if did see 30M coming in for there player they would have had time saying no.

Anyway I will look forward to the 27th of Dec to see what happens, if anything at all.

Neil {ed's note - my thoughts are that there is no 100m to spend. I expect pretty much the same team as currently, especially now Anderson is starting to perform.}

I know I don't expect there to be a 100mil to spend hence reason I put speculation reckon there is defo going to be a few signings though defo need gk cm and lw in my opinion

@Hi Neil, i would say for certain that we will sign GK & a Central midfielder in the summer. I think we may sign a marquee signing to keep Wayne & the season ticket holders happy, its very likely the central midfielder will be our marquee signing so we could buy an expensive central midfielder plus a goalkeeper. I have said on here on many occasions that i think the goalkeeper will be Stekelenburg. Just a hunch.

I know the United Ed would hope for Pastore to be the central midfielder. but i think it will be someone who is solid defensively and great going forward too, someone like Javi Martinez or Jack Rodwell.

Its exciting mate, that's what its all about, rumours, bantering and wishing for some transfer movement, this is what footy is all about. I cannot wait for January 1st, even if we do not bring anyone other than Lindegaard in.

@Is that right? I do not know much about Kakuka, i did read that he had turned down an 18k offer or something so if it has risen to 40k then it must be a little about the money. Saying that though Ed nearly everyone rejects the first offer, its perfectly normal and clubs expect it, i would say Kakuka's main concern is about regular first team footy.

What do you think Ed?

I will ask the other editor about it, but I was told the clause he wanted inserted was guaranteed numbers of appearances, similar to the one Shelvey got on joining Liverpool.}

@Not really, he has potential but i don't think he has the right attitude to succeed in England. Chelsea have Ten days to sign him up or he can speak to other clubs. He is obviously holding Chelsea to ransom as they were not willing to go higher than 20k a week a few months ago.

Sorry mate. I tried verifying your "news" about the 36mil player, no luck yet. All I got was the usual crap about 9-10 midfielders United will be looking at during the next 2 transfer windows, including - Ganso, Pastore, Banega, Sanchez, Martinez, Pjanic, Jovetic, Mata, Hazard and Hamsik - certainly no definite targets as such.
However, the other rumour about the 1.36bn bid for the club is somewhat true (not entirely). The Qatar Holdings had expressed their interest in buying the club, though only an unofficial one, for 1.5bn. And they are not the only ones. Apparentely an Indian businessman (No, not the Venky's or L.N.Mittal for that matter of fact) has also expressed an unofficial interest in this regard though the amount he was willing to set aside was closer to 1.4bn. Another party reportedly interested right now is a Chinese financial group (no price quoted as such). However, the Glazers haven't expressed any interest whatsoever in selling the club and I believe, they have even given a statement regarding the same. The funny thing is that the group of "wealthy businessmen" in the "MUST" and "Red Knights" groups haven't made any such efforts for the past 5-6 months. Looks like they have taken a step back.

Anyways, if there are 3-4 additions to the current squad (which are very likely in the following 2 windows), it would indicate that the Glazers are in it for good and are in it for the longer run. . whatever be the case, these 3-4 signings would definitely silence a lot of critics, including the tards who are questioning SAF's decisions and moves in the market.

not really hes scored 4goals in 13starts and 4sub aperrances this season in there lge and has played in all there champions lge games scoring 1 and getting 2assists
not doing that bad for a midfielder
