Love the turn around on here. Before Ronaldo played back in England, against an English team, everyone said he's getting on and is a waste of money. Now we all want him back. I'm praying.

Fresh!

Believable8 Unbelievable12

Every United fan would love him back but the argument is could the money for one player be utilised better when spent in 2 or 3 positions... I would take Vidal, Rodriguez and Strootman over Ronaldo and I am one of Ronaldo's biggest fans.

Agree1 Disagree1

Ronaldo is and always has benn top qulity and id welcome him back any time but it would depend on price if it was 60 mil then yes if its more 90 mil then no as belive 60 mil is price for 2 qulity players andronaldo is always going to score about 30-40 goals thats tally of 2 players but90 mil would be to much as there are aging players and dead wood to be cut from our squad.

I think it's really strange that the media are saying Chelsea have little chance of qualifying, they are at home to FC Nordsjaeland, whilst Juventus have to travel to group leaders Shaktar Donetsk. Chelsea just need to beat the whipping boys, while Juventus have to go to the Ukraine. Chelsea can mathmatically finish ahead of either, with only a draw guaranteeing their champions league exit.....Is this just done so that when they end up qualifying that the media can write a story about how amazing it was?? When in actually fact that has as much chance if not more chance of qualifying than Juventus.

Tetrahydro

Believable17 Unbelievable4

No they say it because it is out of their hands.... It is all down to Juventus.

Agree0 Disagree0

I do not believe Chelsea can finish ahead of Shakhtar as the Ukrainians have a better head to head.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

A draw in Ukraine means both teams are through and Chelsea are out. Not suggesting it will be a draw or anything...

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Chelsea is definitly behind Donezk, no matter what happens.
It's between Chelsea and Juventus, while a point is enough for Juventus to go through.

Unbelievable what happened to the English grip on the champions league from a couple years back.
No wonder though, we have declined so bad tactically, just sad

Jonny8

Agree0 Disagree0

If im correct shakthar have qualified as they have a better head to head than chelsea

Agree0 Disagree0

Seriously guys who really gives a rats aspe if they qualify or not lol

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets put it this way Chelsea have to hope Juventus a team well known for their match fixing go and put their champions league qualification on the line by going to win in ukraine.

Anyone still unsure or forgotten. Cr7 is the man. If there's any way of bringing him back then we should.

Believable17 Unbelievable4

100m offer would still be a bargain if it gets him

Agree0 Disagree0

Well if we get 25 mil for nani 15 mil for Anderson and maybe sell welbeck for 15 mil and then put the 35mil we had for moura on top of that I reckon that may have a chance of getting him back home

Agree0 Disagree1

We won't get 25m for Nani, Anderson won't be sold IF he's becoming good, and if he wasn't becoming good we wouldn't get 15m for!

I've seen this post before (Not Original post) and I think your clueless bro!

Agree0 Disagree0

Let's say it is 100m surely his presence at the club would bring in more revenue than that with shirt deals an new corporate deals like beckham at galaxy.? {Ed002's Note - Shirt sales do not benefit the club in any significant way.}

Ed002 if you're around, apologies if you've answered this before, but I was wondering if there was any truth in the reports that we had a bid rejected for Neymar in the summer just gone? Thanks,

#ags {Ed002's Note - There was no bid from Manchester United in the summer.}

Ed002; do we have official interest in Strootman and is January a possibility?

Also, do you know if the reports about Hummels wanting to push through a move to us has any truth? Are we genuinigly interested?

Thanks,

rpc {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Liverpool took a look at Kevin Strootman last season but tentative enquiries were met by a reluctance to sell so soon after arriving. His performances have attracted further interest from Manchester United, Valencia, AC Milan, Schalke 04 and Hamburg. I expect him to move to Manchester United or Milan in the summer. Hummels is perhaps an option for a January move and there is strong interest from Inter, Barcelona, Manchester United and Juventus and there will no doubt be interest from elsewhere should he become available. I rather suspect that the summer might be a more likely time for Dortmund to agree a sale.}

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I hope it is true as any new additions to the squad is better than what we currently have.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels in my opinion is immense... The problem is that I can see him being the perfect Puyol replacement.

Agree0 Disagree0

If we get Strootman, we'll still need a physical, muscular ball winning midfielder as well. I'd say Wanyama is more suitable for our needs at the moment, but feel we need two midfielders anyway. For me I'd prefer Wanyama and Eriksen. To finance it we could sell Young -18m Anderson - 10m and maybe Cleverley-8m, we would then have to add a few million as I'd expect Wanyama to cost around 15m and Eriksen around 25m. I like Strootman, but he's not a ball winning midfielder, more a box to box player with a greater onus on attack. I'd settle for Strootman and Wanyama. I don't think we'd get Strootman for less then 20 -25m euros (16 -20 million pounds). I'd rather pay a little more and get a player of higher potential and higher ability, like Eriksen. Wanyama is a must though, plus he's a massive United fan

18 million for Ashley young? In our dreams!!

Ed002, which club do you think Pep may become manager for? Manchester United, Chelsea or another like city?

Cheers.

-JakeW {Ed002's Note - I really don't know. Chelsea are pushing him to take over but equally there is very strong interest from AC Milan right now.}

Mat hummels wants Manchester united transfer to go ahead how TRUE do you think this is?

Believable34 Unbelievable7

Hope so but I would have though Real Madrid and Barcelona will be bidding for him. Maybe even City

Mad Hatter

Agree0 Disagree0

Apparently it will cost us a lot more if we are to bid for him around the 20m mark.

Red-Dev-91

Agree0 Disagree0

Real would have no interest as they have plenty of in centre backs. Barcelona on the other hand is looking to add to their cb's.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

I can only see him as an replacement for Puyol at Barca. I hope he comes but chances are slim.

Agree0 Disagree0

I too can see him going to Barca. His style would fit in perfectly with barca though he would be a perfect replacement for Rio. He would be awesome for us.

Reports in Dutch press that Strootman is coming in the summer for £14 million. PSV are already lining up a replacement.

First time poster here! What does everyone think about hummels? He has said he wants to come to United, is £28 million worth it?

Believable28 Unbelievable3

I will drive him here, will be a good replacement for Ferdinand. I can see Subotic coming at some point too.

Supasub

Agree1 Disagree0

Where did you hear that from?

There has been talk of Rio heading off at the end of the season, so he will need replacing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why spend 28 million on a centre back?! thats ridiculous! give smalling and jones a couple of years and there going to be top centre backs. if we could get him for 15mil then yeah thats great but no centre back is worth 28 million!

Jack

Agree1 Disagree1

Jack have you forgotten Rio cost 30m who IMHO is or was worth every penny

I read it off caught offside, I know its a terrible sight but I don't see why not, Dortmund play a fantastic style of football and look how many players we have been linked from there, Hummels, Lewandowski, Kagawa(bought) and Goetze. Personally, Man United need a serious re-modelling of the team, Scholes Giggs and Ferdinand need to go, nobody knows what Vidic is going to be like when he returns from injury plus he can get as easily injured again as he did last time he returned. Therefore Hummels will be a perfect purchase to replace him and add assistance in defence, yes Smalling is good and Jones too but I would play Jones in CDM as he is really good at going forward, left back is another issue, Buttner has proved how s**t he really is. Evra is getting old and Fabio I dont know whats happening with him, so I say send out buttner out on loan in the summer and buy baines now

Agree0 Disagree0

This is how I see it. If rio was worth that when he come to the club, then mats hummles is worth that now as well. He's top draw!

Jones for cdm

Just wanted to add, I was glad to see Phil Jones come back tonight and looking well.

I had high hopes for this young lad, and he seems to have been forgotten in the rush to acclaim Smalling as one of our future first-choice central defenders.

He had a great start to his first season with us, before his form tailed off a little, and I think he's a very mature, formidable centre half.

Hopefully SAF won't mess him around position wise, because I think that might have been one of the reasons for his form tailing off. He's a natural centre-half, who as he gets older, may well be able to step into midfield, but for now, I think he's a beast of a defender, with a great future ahead of him.

Welcome back lad.

Would just once, like to see Anderson actually play in the position he was first bought for.

He's a creative player, yet SAF has persisted in trying to mould him into a central midfielder.

Would have been a perfect opportunity tonight to play him in behind the two strikers, and let Powell, if he is considered the 'new Scholes', to play in the middle.

StevieK

Believable16 Unbelievable2

Anderson just doesn't cut it playing in the hole. To play there you have to carry a goal threat, yet he scores even less than Carrick, who plays even deeper. The Brazilian also has stamina an fitness issues. If and it's a huge if, he is to stay at OT, he needs to sort out his weight, diet and stamina.Despite the "hype" the newspapers came up with, "the new Ronaldinho" he was never a player whp plays just behind the main striker, we have Wayne, Kagawa etc for that, who in truth are light years better than Anderson. So Unless you think he is better than Wayne or Kagawa in the hole, is a striker or winger there is nowhere but just in front of Carrick for him to play. Personally I'd sell him and use the 8m or so we'd get on him, toward the buying of Wanyama. Eriksen would also be a fine addition, he can play anywhere accross mid field, is young, skillfull and energetic.

Think if we had a proper defensiive midfielder, it would help Ando's cause

He shows flashes of brilliance, but still think he should of "got" what is needed, after 5yrs here

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson biggest quality are his dribblings from our own half to make play quicker. He is wasted as a hole player. No goal threat and is not creative enough.

As a central midfielder he is very creative but you need more from a player in the hole.

Agree0 Disagree0

You all seem to think Ando is wasted 'in the whole'. Tell me this - how do you know? How often have you seen him play there for United. Perhaps if he got a game playing a bit further forward, you might see more of a goal threat, and a chance for him to show a bit of creativity - he's Brazilian for God's sake! Even Rafael is more creative than some of our home-grown attackers!

StevieK

Agree0 Disagree0

And yet again the manager is fitting square pegs in round holes

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson can't shoot on target more than 5% of the time. When he is around the box, Rarely tries quick one twos and is totally one footed. His strengths are his running from deep, tackling and mid range passing. That seems more suited to a central midfielder, than an advance midfielder/second striker. He will never be better at that role then Wayne, Kagawa and possibly even Powell.I doubt he's going to make the grade at OT. He has been with us ,by the end of this season, the same amount of time as CR7 was. We sold CR7 of 6.75 times the amount we bought him for. With Anderson we'd get 50% of what we paid for him.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

You can't compare him with Ronaldo- he needs to actually get a few games first!

Leighton Baines is coming for 8mill
