What's the situation with Gundogan at the moment Ed? You mentioned he was signing a new contract a few weeks ago but hasn't - is being linked with a few different clubs again. Do we have any interest?

{Ed002's Note - Gundogan was refusing to agree a new deal and Dortmund were willing to let him leave as he was seen as a shadow of his former (pre-injury) self. A couple of clubs were interested, including Manchester United, but a recent approach about his availability was responded to that a three year extension has been agreed between the club and player and details are being finalised. However, he again seems to be stalling on that and both Manchester United and Arsenal have rekindled their interest.}

Is he a shadow of his former self or has he recovered now he has got fit again?

This was Gundogan's season back from long term injury and I think it is expected in such situations that the player may not hit top form. We have seen how it has affected Falcao.

Gundogan has played well in some games and I am sure that our and Arsenal's interest means we don't have concerns over his injury or his form.

With a proper pre season if he can get back to his previous best next season, he could prove to be a very shrewd signing, especially since he will come cheap due to his contract situation. He is a very mobile player with a good passing range and also has good tactical awareness. He has something we lack, the box to box qualities and driving through midfield by taking players on and beating them.
