Congratulations on learning how to photoshop someone's face onto another's body. Brilliant. Stop wasting everyones time.

Agree0 Disagree0

There is no picture with the link provided below

Agree0 Disagree0

BAD Photoshoping....First of all, there's NO WAY that tiny Sneijder is the same size at the giant man sittin next 2 him And IF he where supposed to be at OT tonight, why would he sit there, rather than sit with for example Gill or atleast SOMEONE in United?

NorwegianViking

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol not being funny but if he was there he would of had a better seat. also i doubt he would be wearing the united scarf.

Agree0 Disagree0

Terrible photoshopping Do you really believe Sneijder would sit with the average fans if he was really at OT

Agree0 Disagree0

Do any of you guys have a funny side, i found it funny for 1 reason im sick of listening to reports of sneijder is signing or hes not, no1 knows, no matter what source you have, 8 days to go i reckon it will be the last day and thats if anybody does come in

Agree0 Disagree0

I definately found this post amusing...

obviously a lot of the posters above dont have the same sense of humour as you or me lol

Good job sir u made me laugh this early in the morning which is usually quite hard ;-)

Robbo

Agree0 Disagree0

You guys need to lighten up...that is funny..made me chuckle as well as wonder where everyones sense of humour is gone...WS should have been purchased 2 years ago from madrid..ozil should have been approached last year...van der vaart...dafour...the list goes on and on...Fergie has only missed out a couple of times on big signings..ronaldinho was one....It will happen when he feels its the right guy and the right time. Meanwhile lighten up...this guy made an effort to bring a laugh to the forum...at least admit it was funny.

Well lads and ladies, what a performance tonight, sorry, what a second half performance tonight. I will ask those posters earlier who were insisting that we needed a DM, well what do you think now? Utd dont play a DM and God I hope we never do. Thought Smalling was immense tonight, hard to believe that he was playing non league just over two years ago. Phil Jones had a massive game and looked liked he relished the OT atmosphere. He is our future captain and will be England captain too. Welbeck had a poor first half in my opinion, but more than made up for it in the second, his goal was well taken and his back heel was sublime for Ando's tap in, great composure and presence of mind from a young man. Cleverley, the jury is still out I'm sorry to say, still think we will need Sneijder in there for later in the season, but if he doesn't come ah well in Fergie I Trust and maybe I will be here on the 23rd of may eating my words.
Ando getting forward aswell tonight was a joy to see I must say, I would really like to see himself and Sneijder in the middle of the park.Wazza, well what can you say, class performance, class player, totally different player to that of twelve months ago, what a smile when he scored and the rollicking he gave Nani for that crap pass soon after, what a player.
Overall the performance was good and now bring on the goon's.
What is the situation regarding Sneijder? I hear he must submit a transfer request before anything happens, Is this true and is he back training with Inter?

Lorcan

Believable14 Unbelievable4

Wow, we beat spurs not barca, bloody hell. That midfield would have been destroyed by barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

The spurs midfield was there for the taking in europe against the best team we will need a DM
jred

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think we need a DM as once vidic is fit we can play jones as DM and if sneijder comes in him or ando can play the CAM position

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2011 23:38:48
Thought that Jones was outstanding tonight .. worked the backline like hes been there for years and smalling just gets better and better at right back..also wheres anderson come from hes like a new 30 mil signing.

Well we have all heard he Snjeder roumers and read from diffrent Viewpoints however i have heard that he is 'Open' on a move to Man Utd...

And all you people Slagging off Berbatov - Stop because he was top goalscorer last season.. And without some of his moments of Brilliance last season we may not hav eone the league but keep that in mind

JASPER

Believable14 Unbelievable3

Berb is now third choice behind welbeck chicarito and may even be forth behind Owen
Useless
KingE

Agree0 Disagree0

Harry kept saying "we still need two players" - Well let us have Modric and Berba & Carrick can 'go home'.

Agree0 Disagree0

No one is disputing what Berba did last year and his goals of course helped us win the title, but I have to say why are we not letting hime go? Of course we do not know what package PSG offered, but Berba is way down the pecking order, Rooney, Chico, Welbeck, Owen, Macheda, Berbatov, we dont need them all seeing as how Young can play up there to. Should let him go now.

Valencia to come back and be in the mix for a central role, he plays there for his country, rotating with Cleverley.

Sky Sports stated that this was the second youngest United side ever put out in a league game.
Does anyone know how the average age of tonight's team compares to the much heralded "young Arsenal" teams of the past 5 (unsuccessful) years?
Mike B.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Average age of 23 and 190 ish days tonight. Very impressive

Agree0 Disagree0

I was wondering the same about comparison with arsenal. Any1 any ideas?

Now we can all see why Fergie put so much faith in Anderson. Pure class tonight.

Believable28 Unbelievable2

Not just now, it's been obvious from the beginning that he's good quality.

He was just a slow starter that's all. He's got pace, power, trickery and a decent head for quick play.
He must be a regular starter from here on as he really needs the games.

Pritpal

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree ...are we seeing the real deal this year

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads relax its only the second game of the seson

Agree0 Disagree0

He needs to really show this year. I'm sure SAF is thinking of another addition to the creative midfield for the future. He always thinks of the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

Jumping the gun a bit there. Ando has started a season like this before ony to fade within the first 10 games. Lets not get carried away yet

Agree0 Disagree0

Ando has never started a season this way before, the only thing that has slowed him down is injuries.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I disagree, people are getting carried away with Anderson. Spurs were playing there first premiership game and it showed. It wasn't a real test for Anderson

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2011 22:51:42
I'd just like to add that Gareth Bale is still living up to his title as one of the most overrated football players in recent times. Smalling had him in his back pocket tonight, just like Rafael did last year. Without space to run into he becomes useless. I don't know why some people on here are calling for Sir Alex to buy him. £40 million, you're having a laugh.

Matthew...

Believable14 Unbelievable0

Completely agree, Bale is woeful. Shocked why so many people get roped into the media hype about him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't cross well and doesn't have particularly good control. Can only run, I would hate to see us spend that kind of money on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah i agree ... one game wonder and everyone thinks hes worth 50 mil

Agree0 Disagree0

He completely stole the spotlight from Modric. Clearly think he is more important than Bale. They needed him and it showed.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2011 21:42:34
A goal for anderson an assist for cleverley and a goal and an assist for welbeck(i believe thats why he gets paid for being a footballer. Lol). Some of the one and two touch football is superb, i think we are seeing the start of something special and thats without the talents in our youth system. Do we need a new midfielder? Possibly but it'd be a luxury.
Shappy

Believable24 Unbelievable3

I think we need someone someone like banega who can tackle and pass but i dont think we lack creativity maybe just a cdm hardman like m.villa tiote

Agree0 Disagree0

I dont think whether we need a player for the Premier League is in question. I still think we probably need someone with that extra quality and experience for the really big games and the CL.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

To be honest anderson looks a completely different player to the one I'm used to seeing (saying that he always has a good game against tottenham), but tbh Cleverly was very average today bar the assist. Maybe it was the pressure but he just seemed slow on the ball and slowed a lot of free flowing play down. Have full confidence in him to progress though, all round good performance in the end but hard fought. Still think a CM would take our game to the next level. Wingers were outstanding in causing problems today.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Things are looking very positive at the moment, but the true test will be the big games later in the season. I seriously think that if we added M'Vila to this team we would be able to go up another level as it would release the rest of the attacking players. Added to that I think we will have to play 3 in the middle against barca and having M?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢Vila would enable us to do this.
Someone needs to tweet rio an rooney and get them to drop hints to fergie... hehe

OxfordRed

Agree0 Disagree0

'OxfordRed'

And how would you fit Rooney, Young, Nani & Hernandez into that formation? Personally I think Modric & Anderson in the middle would be good enough. Both can break down attacks and get the ball out to the wingers.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Just got back from game and as good as some of our play was 1st half was painful with spurs better in midfield.smalling and jones were superb and anderson was the star man tonight i just hope hes more consistant this season.tom was a mixed bag some good touches including cross for dannys goal but he got knocked off the ball a bit too easy and gave a lot of possesion away.good result but we definately need a top class midfielder

Agree0 Disagree0

Tonight we played well, make no mistake but for parts of the game we lacked creativity in the middle of the park. Cleverley and Anderson have great work rate but we need someone who can play that final ball that splits open a defence and if we find that player then Chicharito will better his goal scoring tally from last year.

MUFC 19

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney. I agree with that and I think that your line-up would be good enough for madrid and the rest, and would run barca close but with their middle 3 and messi dropping in all the time i think 3 in the middle would be needed. the harsh thing would be dropping 1 of the 4 you listed and i would play rooney on his own and young and nani in behind.

Hey i may be wrong... time will tell.

only 2 games down and about 49 left in the prem and cl if we go al the way so a lot of football left but i think with confidence this team will excel

oxford red

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you for real? Did you watch the first half or were you still watching cornation street Spurs completely bossed midfield and that was with their 3rd or 4th choice pairing United need a midfielder ASAP, don't let last night's exaggerarted result fool you

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2011 21:42:21
Brilliant performance... De Gea looking alot better Very good goal keeper.. Jones a complete Star.. Welbeck Brilliant absouletely outstandingAnd well Rooney one of the Best in the World as we all know..

Believable14 Unbelievable5

Ferdinand must be sweating now after that Jones performance didn't really understand why we bought another young defender until tonight i knew he was good but he was superb. relentless in the tackle and energy with ball at feet as well as great passing. He seriously needs to be starting now with us fading Ferdinand out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck was very poor in the 1st half but was a lot better in the 2nd wouldn't rely on him in the big games though thank god hernandez is back

Dick van Dyke

Agree0 Disagree0

Jones definately a complete star. Think the jury is still out on Welbeck. He had 2 good touches in this game but from what I've seen so far, he doesn't link up with his team mates particularly well as a rule. Gives it away alot. Thought Cleverley was nowhere in the 1st half. Anderson is absolute quality but he needs a strong cm partner

Agree0 Disagree0

Given how nervous he must have been following all the negative press statements of the past days, I thought that de Gea had a good game in goal. His distribution was superb and led directly to one of the goals. He will have gained confidence in keeping a clean sheet. I reckon that he will be our No.1 keeper for a long time to come, getting better and better as the season goes on.

Painful viewing cant remember the last time when MAn Utd spent so much time in their own half apart from Barca. Absolutely nothing in the middle again. How can Fergie not have known all summer how bad that midfield is. Not bad 1 goal so far this season expect rooney off in January.

Believable5 Unbelievable35

I don't care about any of your guys comments, you obviously weren't watching the same game as me. 2nd half we played some beautiful football. Anderson and Welbeck both look promising for this season. Cleverley wasn't too bad either. Ashley Young seems to be consistently good. Nice to see Chicharito back too

WHY? arent we selling berbatov to PSG, hes been ineffective since we bought him, granted he had a good season last season although there were a couple of hatricks in there etc. hes 30 so if we dont sell him now his sell on fee will be peanuts compared to now and he has one year on his contract, everything is screaming out to sell him to PSG who due to new ownership would probably pay a ridiculous price. BAFFLING as to why hes staying

bart

Believable22 Unbelievable3

Even though he was joint top scorer last season?

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie playing hardball to eek out the best possible price?expect him to leave...andog

Agree0 Disagree0

I totally agree with the original poster - he is 30, has 1 year left on his contract, he is inconsistent, doesnt particularly suit our style of play and PSG would no-doubt pay good money for him SELL Yes he played a part in our success last season. And Im not going do come on here and say he is a poor footballer because he is not. But it just makes sense to sell him now...........not sure what you are thinking on this one SAF/Mr Gill?

Agree0 Disagree0

I really can't see berbatov being here at the end of the transfer window, we have way too many strikers, he is out of contract next year and money bags psg are interested in him We could recoup some of the money spent on him and offload a highly paid benchwarmer hence making space for a new signing if needed now or in January

DanV16

Agree0 Disagree0

Berba is a guaranteed goalscorer who loves being a UTD player. What more can you ask of a 3rd or 4th choice striker? Also, I believe there's an option on Berbs contract for another year, with PSG'S comments, I expect United to activate this option, so next year would be the time to worry about losing him for nothing.

Im not that fussed if we don't bring in another cm

I really do think that anderson and tom cleverley will be a great combination this year. Carrick is awful i am afraid, and fletcher is too inconsistent.

Believable11 Unbelievable10

Couldn't agree more about carrick spends more time giving the ball away and giving away stupid free kicks in really stupid places.

Whitey.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank Christ someone who feels the same as me Carrick is utter poo, fletcher is good on his day but ando and cleverly are top players, ando just needs to perform for a full 90 minutes not just one of the 45 minutes Carl

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats why fergie has consistently picked him for the last four years in the clubs most successful period . suppose fergie doesnt know what hes doing eh .

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with that carrick statement 2 he had 2 ok seasons when he came then he been s**t since. no pace cnt tackle dnt create nothing rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Whatever your opinion on Carrick and Fletcher is and if im honest i dont agree,Anderson and Cleverley are not a good enough pairing for an assault on the Champions League...Mourinho and Guardiola will be p***ing themselves thats our engine room

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick has been far too inconsistent for the last 4 years now, will see how good cleverly is once we've played some top teams for 90 mins..why not put berbatov in AM position the man has amazing ball control and wonderful vision the role was made for him who needs sniejder

Agree0 Disagree0

With anderson and cleverly we would get completly overrun in midfield by any decent team.
need a good defensive midfield. fletcher can do a job but need a specialist preferably

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick is pure muck, ando and fletcher inconsistant and cleverly is only a flegling, unproven,so all the more reason why we need cm mateagree with you totaly on carrick, pure dung

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick is "pure dung"?
At least dung feeds the earth in a meaningful way, Carrick doesn't feed anyone, not even our strikers.

We need a bloody good midfielder FGS, we've all known this for about 3 years.

jus looking back at inters 09/10 season and i cant help but be mesmerised by diego milito. his finishing is second to none and most of the goals he's scored or assisted, has included sneijder in the play. those two were gems together.

think we should make a joint 34.5mil bid and sell berbatov 18mil

Believable10 Unbelievable3

22 Aug 2011 16:58:48
Can someone please tell me why we need luka modric? he has scored 9 premier league goals in 3 years at tottenham and his assist record is not much better for a player who is now established in the premier league and valued at 30 million i would expect at least 15 goals a season and just as many assists

Believable12 Unbelievable5

But how many of Spurs' goals are an indirect result of his creative play in deeper positions? Xavi is not renowned for scoring goals or particularly for direct assists but he bosses the possession in the middle of the field for Barca, and does a half-decent job of it too

I fully expect someone to be signed before the IPO of manchester united plc on the stock Market. This would cover up the outrageous overvaluing of the company. So the money for this transfer will be sunk and fully expect the glazers to up sticks and leave. Probably best solution all round.

Sanshine

Believable11 Unbelievable2

The Glazers have no intention of Leaving. They will expand our commercial arm to the tip of the finger before they float the rest of the club on the market. We are yet to negotiate our huge Nike deal and lets not forget the mobile streaming deals that will also add much more money to our revenue. The Glazers will be around for a few years yet sadly.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing is now you've highlighted the Nike deal I think they have to sign someone before going ahead with the IPO and the deal. Nike need more than just Rooney in their European contingent for marketing. Hernandez is a freakin commercial gold mine in Mexico though. Plus people will be in uproar with all this revenue being generated and no money spent on a CM. Personally I think well do fine without the cm signing this year but I'm sure I'll be very fickle on that opinion if we lose tonight. I think if they are to stick around a marquee signing will bring in the deals and confidence they need to advertise the club as low risk.

Just read it and, although very short, if it is a valid quote...then it is quite promising

My mates brothers dog (well, not really...my brother in laws suit fitter) was suiting someone up on Saturday who works at OT. Supposedly City have offered Nasri £180k a week and Utd have offered £120k a week. Arsenal don't really want to sell to us (which would do them more harm to sell him to Citeh as they're more contenders to them) which is the hold up.
Out of the two, I think Sneijder is more likely Although he "does" need to hand in the transfer request first as Milan want to save £2-3m in "bye bye" fee's.

Will people please stop going on about Modric not playing for Spurs tonight. There's no way he's signing for United. If Modric moves, he's going to Chelsea.

I think we can rule out any other signings this summer, just have faith in the squad we have.

With Chelsea signing Juan Mata, it would be great if Fergie could get Luka Modric and Yann M'vila, that would be an excellent midfield pairing.

With Anderson and Modric in middle we(man utd) will have best of 2 holding and creative midfield in all of the league. Ando will and should step up his game, if only Modric comes to us. It is clear he doesn't want to play for tottenham. Just like Aguero, Sanchez who had their desire to play for us had their change of heart, maybe Modric will change his mind and come to us. Just put a big and we have good chance of getting his service. With Tunnicliffe(Proving nicely on loan), Pogba(SAF promise his first team) and Genius of Morrison coming nicely. I more excited about future team. Glory Glory Young United

For goodness sake, Anderson is being played out of position as a holding midfielder, his best position is left midfield or preferably CAM just behind the strikers.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm a huge man utd fan and believe in our team however i seriously believe we need at least one world class midfielder. Modric would fit the bill but i think we need someone in the keane role

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Ando used to play as more CAM role, but since the injury he has lost little bit of paste he had, and he tremendous one on one body strength with which he can take on anyone, tht made SAF put him in that position.
They is no player out there comparable to Keano, except from Song(23) young, tough and very good box to box player and there is no way Arsene will sell him.
Other option is Tunnicliffe who is getting more and more playing time in Posh, big young, good right foot. Hopefully by end of his loan(Dec 2011) he'd have enough experience. Another thing, SAF should send Gibson on loan, he needs first team playing time, he was considered next Scholes when he was in youth.
Well3

Agree0 Disagree0

Song is a terrible player, he resembles Keane in no way whatsoever.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba and morrison as potentially good as they are will not get much playing time this season, they will get odd run outs in carling cup and maybe pogba will make the bench a few times i doubt morrison will get any premier league first team action until next season.these 2 along with tunnicliffe have great potential for our midfield but not this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson isn't a holding midfielder is a CAM he's been played out of position for a while. Only last season when he played alongside Flecther did he plays as a CAM

Agree0 Disagree0

I dnt how or why people think modric is a great,he is way off the mark, the biggest overatdd players in world football,he reminds me so much like yossi benyoune, hes crapgoes missing in the big gameshes goin to chelsea thanks b to jaysus, and he wont get regular football there eitheryad swear he was maradonna or messi the way some people go on about him on this sitehes poxy

Just following up on my last post that Modric will be joining United, He will not feature tonight against us....

ONE UNITED

Believable9 Unbelievable20

I still believe that sneijder would be a better option than modric and nasri, he's probably been the best centre attacking mid for the last few years, on par with iniesta..

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric isn't playing because he's sulking until he gets to move to Chelsea, it has nothing to do with United.

Danny Pughnited

Agree0 Disagree0

I think 'Arry n SAF have tis one sorted...either way Modric will end up either at OT or at Stamford Bridge; I think he will end up at OT coz if he was to end up at Stamford Bridge that would have happened by now....

Agree0 Disagree0

Him not playing against us has nothing to do with signing with us.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is Harry's way of telling Chelsea that Modric still wants the move and to put in another offer.

'Arry claims Chelsea will drop their interest in Modric after getting Mata; I reckon thats what SAF was waiting for, now he has his chance...n 'Arry recently conceded that he could be sold. Of all the players linked to United, Fergie has only praised Modric. I think SAF & 'Arry will have this deal done & Modric is the next player to sign for United. However, if we were to do one better over City and snap up Nasri as well, I think that will be great business by us. There are great things coming our way.....

MATA moving to chelsea... already linked with jovetic after it. torres and david luiz has already joined so as lukaku.. Chelsea has imposed great theft again with their spending power.. and they have always look batter when they attack..and united look helpless in midfield except ando.. while defending heavy counter attacks.. will we be able to difend our title from city and chelsae despite a gr8 attitude and team? a thought to consider honestly. rodio17

Believable7 Unbelievable12

Except Ando? As far as I'm concerned he has yet to prove himself as being good enough to be a permanent fixture in midfield. Far too often does he fade out in games. He is not a young pup anymore and I think this is his last chance

RebelRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a young pup are you sure?
He has just completed his first proper pre season with the team since joining us. This lad has so much potential its is scarey. He fits in with our dynamic and wing style of play. If he gets a good start and stays injury free he will be a revelation this season.
I hope we sign a world class midfielder but it will not be to replace Ando. I do believe we have a surpise up our sleeve in this window.
What I dont get is all the despairing fans posting doom and gloom about the team. I cannot remember us looking as good as this pre season, starting the season so well and we are already Champions and second only to Barcelona last season in the Champions league.

I love football, this guy's tellin me Chelsea look better in attack.... Chelsea are s**te and one dimensional in attack.

they have signed Ruiz for 22 mill we brought both smalling and jones for 26 mill.. which are better value?

22 mill for lakaku we paid 6 mil for Chico.

torres torres need i say more

mata we have Young Giggs Toni Nani the list is endless of our talented wingers.

City needed to spend 500 mill to get level with spurs. There still a team with a hapless manager and players that are great but arent a great team.

difend? defend

we will be there or there abouts with out spending the sums others have.

we wont win every year but we win whislt being prudent unlike leeds portsmouth and liverpool under the last lot.

be happy be red be united.

inside futbal is reporting that SAF has confessed that PSG has tried to sign berba but he blocked it as he likes to keep the ST...any good thoughts friends?? Eds??
rodio17

Believable11 Unbelievable4

Just read this on the bbc sports site.

if this is true, does everyone not agree that fergie has lost the feckin plot??

why, why, why, why.......is all i can say.....he's in the final year of his contract, he slows our game down, yes fair enough he won top goal scorer of the year last year, but most of his goals came against weak opposition (including liverpool lol) any time he plays in the 'big matches' or even in europe he has always been a complete flop

so basically wat will happen with him is we will lose him for free next year or the year after (if we activate his extension clause)....

the money could be spent NOW on erik torres, or even put towards the transfer of sum1 such as nasri, mvilla, or even wesley's transfer - meaning in reality we would only be having to pay half the fee of sneijder if we got like 15 - 17 million for berba.......

I really really think fergie is starting to lose the plot if he thinks this makes good sense for the sake of the team??

Please tell me that everyone agree's with me on this one :-S

Keeping berba in the squad just doesnt make sense, we dont need him.....look at our options for gods sake....rooney, chico, welbeck, diouf, macheda, owen.......

All i can say is "cuckoo.....cuckoo.....wake up alex and get a triple strength espresso into you big lad"

Robbo

Agree0 Disagree0

It's quite simple really, PSG didn't offer enough money. That is why it was rejected.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with you about Berba Robbo, but I suspect Sydney is right.

J Bones.

Agree0 Disagree0

He's not in the last year of his contract ,
United have the option of extending it for a further year and can implement this at any time.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ahem Mr No Name.......how is he not in the last year of his contract?

think before you type as your not coming out of the block as being the sharpest of knives are you?

Berba IS in the final year of his contract and united have the OPTION of keeping him on for another year.....hence why i said he could go for free either next year or the year after......
