The latest reports printed suggest that the Glazers have a 3-6 year plan in place for Utd including Tv channels in America, Shops in South America, The expansion of the South Stand (finally-Hurray) and the announcement of 2 more big sponsorship deals. 1 in the summer and 1 app to be announced in the Autumn.(dont know why?) Thay are defo not selling so lets just crack on with the footy. Nico

agreed, i hope the Gimps sell and soon but I can't see it happening. We need to sort out the midfield first and getting Modric & Rodwell would be a start. I would love to see Morrison make it but the self destruct button will always be a worry with him.

Welcome Back Red Man, Nice holiday? I think either of the Birmingham centre backs would do a decent job, although there is better options, Ed named one yesterday who looks decent, Davide Astori. I have a little bit of info, it's nothing great but slightly uplifting. Anderson has been ruled out for between 2-3 weeks, NOT two months. All Valencia, Anderson & Park will return mid March.

Now that is good news.

So Nico lots of plans to make money and what is missing? Players , aims for winning competitions or is their world just about money and sponsorship than actually winning anything?

Lets be honest you would expect any business to have plans for the business side. If they didn't have plans then we would be in even bigger trouble , having plans does not mean they wouldn't sell. The plans, if good, would add value to any sale value.

Sounds like Mourhino has been told by SAF that he no longer plans to retire in summer as planned and is carrying on for at least 2 more seasons. Mourhino not happy at Real and so will now head back to Chelski in summer. Altogether bad news for us. Him back at Chelski will turn them around and him going there will mean he won't now replace SAF and lets face it hes the only manager big enuf to do it.Ah well. WHo do we think will replace SAF now people? Marcus.

{ed's note - I can't see Evans going, I think he will be given another year at least.}- - - - - - - - - - Do you think he deserves another chance? I mean he just isn't ruthless enough imo. He heistates far too much.
G.A.G.U.S {ed's note - I am not convinced he is good enough either, but he did have an excellent game against Liverpool so the talent is obviously there.}

@It's something to do with work permits, if United signed him for 800k at 18 and tried to get a work permit it would have been rejected like Arsenal's Wellington's work permit was rejected. With Wellington, they had not seen enough proof that he is an 'exceptional talent' therefore a work permit was not granted. In the meantime Arsenal have loaned him to Spain in the hope that he hits the ground running so they can try and get him a work permit in the future.

United may have or may not have already struck up a deal with Porto for Iturbe but what ever the case we will monitor him at Porto and if he continues his good form he will no doubt be given a work permit. As he will be classed as an exceptional talent. We did a similar deal with Anderson, he went to United via Porto and was granted a work permit that way.

Anderson only made 18 appearances for Porto, it's rumoured Anderson knew he was joining United before he signed for Porto.

@I cannot see SAF being too hasty either, however I think a centre back will come in if Brown leaves. Possibly someone like Scott Dann? Although I imagine Brown will stay. Brown is such a good defender, if he never had so many problems with injury he would have been a permanent fixture.

We all know United will need to strenghthen in the summer. While we will never know for sure who Manchester United are targeting, we can always speculate:
GOALKEEPER: There has been an endless list of goalkeepers linked with United since Van der Sar confirmed he is retiring at the end of this season. Hugo Lloris, Igor Akinfeev, David de Gea, Maarten Stekelenburg, Pepe Reina, Manuel Neuer, Rene Adler and Julio Cesar have all been linked with United. I would love to see David de Gea. However, it looks like it will be Maarten Stekelenburg. DO NOT rule out Julio Cesar.
DEFENCE: I feel Jonny Evans is on his way out after some really poor performances this season. Ryan Shawcross, Gary Cahill, Neven Subotic, Marco Reus and Simon Kjaer have all been mentioned. I would like to see Subotic, but I think it will be Shawcross because he is very similar to Vidic and we will need to find a replacement for Vidic in the future.
MIDFIELD: The area that needs most improving. Luka Modric, Mario Goetze, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javier Pastore, Marek Hamsik, Jack Rodwell, Jordan Henderson, Wesley Sneijder, Shinji Kagawa, Gareth Bale and Ashley Young are all linked. I would love to see Javier Pastore and Mario Goetze at the club, but Pastore is valued at a ridiculous 100 million euro(buy-out clause). I actually think Goetze will be signed and possibly Rodwell. Pogba and Morrison will hopefully be promoted to the first team.
ATTACK: I don't see the need for anybody unless a significant amount of players leave. I do expect Owen, Macheda and Diouf to leave, but apart from that I don't see anyone else leaving. Welbeck will return from loan. Juan Manuel Iturbe will probably be signed in summer 2012. Alexis Sanchez' price has unfortunately inflated to 25mil+ and Steven Jovetic is just back from injury. Ganso is going to one of the Milans and Neymar will end up at Barcelona imo. We should perhaps go for Lucas Piazon at the right price, but he seems to be going to Juventus. If anyone is brought in, it will probably be a youngster.(Iturbe)
Anyone agree with my predictions? Sydney!? Editor?

Porto will pay 400k to 'Quilmes' & 400k to 'Cerro Porteno' for Iturbe. Then when Porto are ready to sell Iturbe a year or two into the future, United want first dibs on him. Apparently United tried to buy him from Porto for a small fee (fee not mentioned) and offered to loan him back to Porto but Porto were not interested in that kind of deal.

{Editor's Note: I think a goalkeeper is still on the cards, a versatile left-back/ wing back, someone for central midfield and perhaps a forward. As for Sanchez it became clear Udinese were not going to sell him in January. The worry remains that he may not be robust enough for the English game.}

@Ed, I agree with a goalkeeper, but I think we will go for two central midfielders and a striker/ Left winger. Someone like or similar to Jovetic/ Podolski?

Ed, do you believe Evra has signed a contract to stay at United or do you think he will still leave in the summer?

Sydney! {ed's note - I believe he will stay.}

Okay seriously why do Barcelona want Modric, Fabregas etc. Its not like they have place in their starting 11 to play Modric/ Fabregas , xavi , iniesta , busquets , pedro,
etc. If Modric is a bit wise he should not move to barcelona!

Footballtransfertargets.blogspot.com are reporting that Athletic Madrid are looking at a new keeper. This means De Gea will be going to Man United.

De gea could be going anywhere. Liverpool if they sell Raina.

Just watching 'United in press' on MUTV and a journalist very close to United has said;

MODRIC - Very much on SAF's radar but thinks we will miss out on him to Barcelona, he (the journalist) has heard that Modric is top of Barcelona's wish list for the summer.

HENDERSON - Certainly on SAF's radar and likely to move for him in the summer. Apparently SAF has seen enough of him and thinks he will be a great box2box addition to the squad.

RODWELL - Again, on SAF's radar, United have been talking to Everton regularly for the past 18 months according to him, very likely to move for him in the summer as something nearly happened in January.

VALBUENA - Not much info on him other than he was recommended by Cantona, which is public knowledge anyway.

Just repeating what was said, these are NOT my own predictions.

"And for both the interested, redacao sportv this thursday, 10 am

Tortoise8"

@I heard Porto will pay Iturbe's current club and previous club £400,000 each and then United will pay anything up to £10m for him when he's ready to make the grade to play at a higher level. I understand United want first dibs on him but preferably wanted to buy him now for peanuts and then loan him back to Porto. But Porto refused.However we do have a great relationship with Porto and should have first option on him.
