Hi

Can any of the Eds confirm Southampton's reported interest in Buttner or is it just some lazy journalism since we are after Shaw?

Many thanks

{Ed004's Note - Southampton tried too sign Buttner same summer we bought him}

Buttner plus £25m should do it? Not sure what Chelsea offered plus Bertrand.

Many thanks for the info.

All I hope is in ten years time Rooney manages to hold on to the money he's earning look at the number of celebrity's and ex players who end up broke with all the hangers on, agents ect or go into the wronge venture, so hold onto your money mate.

I'm not sure what Chelsea offered in the summer for Shaw (if they did?) but last January they offered Southampton £4 million. Surely that was a tester bid and they never expected to get him for that! Would love to see him at OT but would be wary of spending £25 mil plus Buttner on a young player.

{Ed002's Note - The figure Southampton gave Chelsea recently was well beyond £25M and whatever change Buttner is worth.}

A few sunday papers are running the story that we have "won the race" to sign Gundogan.

Believable33 Unbelievable23

We need Gundogan. He would be a great signing. I'm sure Klopp would want Kagawa back, Kagawa isn't wanted/needed anymore and I'm sure he would welcome a move back to Dortmund. Meulensteen did say we have an interest in Gundogan. RM have recently been looking at Vidal so you have to say that they are keeping their options open. That of course suggests that they are not 100% convinced that they will get Gundogan now. We will see. Gundogan and Shaw would be two exceptional signings to add to Mata, Adnan, RvP & Rooney.

Agree0 Disagree2

I think RM's interest shifting from Gundogan to Vidal in recent weeks is more down to the fact Gundogan's back injury is keeping him out of action while Vidal is in superb form. Gundogan would be the cheaper option not necessarily the worst ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Gundogan is a necessity and I also think we are at the front of the queue so to speak. I think Madrid's interest lies primarily with Vidal or Pogba who they want to partner Modric and they will be making to look a huge splash. Gundogan paired with Fellaini will be a solid and dynamic midfield with the 4 boys ahead of him. As Syd says, add Shaw to that, perhaps another winger and a centre back and we will be back up there again.

I'm hoping for Shaw, Garay, Gundogan & Griezmann who was incredible last night in Sociedad's victory over Barca.

How is young irralamendi (spelling) getting on? He was tipped to be the next alonso yet they're already looking at other options?

Agree0 Disagree0

It's tough for young players to break I to that midfield, but I think it's Khedira they are looking to replace. Illaramendi, Modric, Alonso and Vidal are the options that they want to have I think - Di Maria is also doing well in there.
