Guys, Surely if Mateo Kovacic is available on a free then this would be a steal. Rumours stated that Gill wouldn't sanction £10m bid in Jan that was requested due to the fact he is free in the summer. I have seen him play a few times and is a very exciting prospect. Thoughts guys?

He could be a very good option in my book.a younger version of modric and supposedly ferguson is a big admirer of him.we would want to move fast to get him though.do the ed's have any info if we are still interested?

If only it was possible to know, with some accuracy, how much will be available for summer transfers . . .then we could make more realistic forecasts.
Loads of dosh -Bale and Lloriente! Valencia blasting down the right, Bale tearing down the left, Lloriente in the middle with Rooney in the hole. = GOALS !!
Not so much dosh -just Lloriente !
Mid ? Defence ? Give youth a chance ! Clev, Pog, Ando, Scholes . . .Vid coming back, we'll be fine! Rio and Ev will stay another year. Get Lloriente and if poss Bale.

Congratulations mate you made the 10'000th rumour post on the Utd site.

You will receive absolutely nothing in the post as a result of your good fortune.

How much will be available for summer transfers? ..... less than we all think and hope for. The partial flotation in Singapore is now unlikely to happen until late this year and the Glazers will want the business to look at its best right up to that time. The thought that they might spend £70 to £80 million on three or four top players is therefore very unlikely to become fact.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary, London, via text: "Bale is not so much over-rated as totally one dimensional, a complete one trick pony. And his occasional attempts to use his right foot are embarrassing."

Text on bbc from someone watching spurs v chelsea..... AND this is the problem for me.... both Bale and Velencia are very similar players... both have pass, can beat a man and deliver fantastic balls into the box. BUT neither have the skill to unlock a tight organized defence and that is where Nani is better than them both.....
Yes he is very frustrating he should cross when he trys to beat a man, trys to beat the man when he should cross but he has that ability to beat a man and do the unexpected....... he is a must keep for me

I am all for giving youth a chance but surely there needs to be a move made for some pure quality in the centre of the park! Clev and Pogs are not there yet and until they are we need someone to open teams up.

If indeed Manchester United are to sign a LW/CAM this summer like the rumours have it, who would you all have if you could get your favourite?

Jono

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Sneijder because he's young enough that he still has a few good years in him and old enough to allow the younger players to come into the fold

Winston

Agree0 Disagree0

My ideal choice would be Modric and Bale but that isn't going to happen unfortunately.

Welsh Dragon

Agree0 Disagree0

I think we'll sign a ST and a CAM with one of them being able to play on the left. My choices would be Kagawa and Yarmolenko as I feel these lads will become great players. You could play a formation with Valencia Kagawa and Yarmolenko as the three in a 4231 formation with Rooney upfront.

But I think we'll sign Gaitan and Wolfswinkel and play Valencia Rooney Gaitan as the three with Wolfswinkel as the front man. I would mind this but I'd prefer Kagawa and Yarmolenko as they offer more freedom with formation. As you could play 433 with Welbeck Rooney and Yarmolenko as your front three with Cleverley Pogba and Kagawa as your midfield three.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

I don t think we are looking at cam and lm.a lm is very much dependant on nani moving on.if he does i would hope hazard comes in.if he does nt i d like modric and martinez to come in to play in the centre of the park.

Agree0 Disagree0

I used to think someone like Sneijder was the answer, now I think Hazard is the way forward. Can play in the middle or from the wing and he is a future star if not already aged 21.

TK-Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard for me. Has versatility, as he can play wide or as an attacking mid. And who knows, it might happen too. However, if I could chose 1 player to come to United this summer, it would be Goetze.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sigurdsson the more I watch him the better he gets. Has everything IMO

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed gotze is a must for united. He reminds me of scholes, similar height, physique not as good technique but let's not forget he is 19 that will improve. In europe saf needs to put the extra man in midfield to control games. I think he will adopt the high pressure up the pitch system and have players that can cause damage with pace and technique. A 4231 system is way forward for me in Europe. In premier league u can still play 442. The ideal players for me are gotze, hazard and Martinez and a new left back cissokho for me. Knowing saf it will be gaiten, rodwell and a young player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Goetze or Ozil either or. Just edging out Hazard.

Kagawa and javi martinez, Park himself did apparently say he will leave when he feels he can not play at the top level anymore. this season he has been poor by his standards still gives a 100 percent effort. But kagawa will help us with marketing if park leaves. Plus he is a great player, of course i'd take goetze but he is too expensive because everyone is looking at him. javi martinez is a beast defensively. Would love a midfield of martinez kagawa fletcher carrick anderson cleverley pogba. we got enough depth their if we get crazy injuries giggsy wont have to play cm. But i dont know where fergie will go, he will buy but its up 2 him and i know he willl make the best decision for the team.

Apparently we have taken up the option to sign midfielder Lucas Evangelista from Deportivo in Brazil after impressing during hos trial. Currently 17 he will sign professional forms when he's 18 in February 2013.

Next year's U18's will be fun to watch, players like Daehli, Januzaj, Harrop, Pearson, Evangelista, Perreira & Wilson linking up. Possibly Aguilar or Gomes or both added to that.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agreed, but don't forget Rothwell and McNair either. Rothwell loke a real talent before his injury, he's been out for a while but should be fighting fit next season.

And McNair is also very highly rated, he's another small, technically gifted player, and because of his slight physique we've not seen much of him yet. But according to reports he's got the skill to really shine once he develops a bit more physically.

Interesting future times!

Red Rob

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more Rob, Rudge is very similar to Daehli now too and sometimes it's difficult to tell them apart. We have a great mixture of English talent and foreign flair. Good times.

So, to todays rumours:

Clyne: I think that he is a very likely bet to come in, he can play left and right back. It would enable us to rotate Clyne and Rafael - this would probably mean that we can play Jones and Smalling in center back where they need to learn their trade.

Gaitan: I think he is 5th choice, but he nevertheless is a good player and if he does come in then we need to back him. Hazard, Ozil, Modric, Gotze are all ahead of him i think. But if they prove too difficult to sign then Gaitan is a good banker for us who would do a good job.

Rossi: I don't think that we will go there. The only player we would resign is Ronaldo, I don't think that Rossi will make an appearence here any time soon. Rossi will probably go to Juve or i think that he may go to Napoli to replace Lavezzi/Cavani who may leave.

RedDevil19

Believable4 Unbelievable4

I think Clyne would be a very savvy signing, good young british back up with a good measure of talent.

I for one would be very disappointed if we signed Gaitan, some of our current youth crop (Daelhi and Petrucci) are likely to be better players than him and are much younger.

I completely agree with Rossi, and besides it's all paper talk.

=v1=

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Rossi say a few years back that he wouldn't return to Man utd ? Besides like you said unless it was ronnie I dnt think we would resign a player (exept the Ginger maestro)

Agree0 Disagree0

I don t think Gaitan is SAFs 5th choice.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did we not have an agreement with Villareal when we sold Rossi that we got first refusal if they were to sell him or some sort of buy back clause?

Del boy!

Agree0 Disagree0

We have the option to match any accepted bids that come in for him. I'm not convinced that will happen though. When has SAF ever resigned anyone? NEVER. Like i said, he'd only ever resign Ronaldo.

RedDevil19

Agree0 Disagree0

Here we go championship players being touted as mega stars again, stop going on about clyne he's a good championship player nowhere near a man utd player

Who is mr negative with no name. Doubt you have even watched Clyne play. He's a young lad with a good future!

Agree0 Disagree0

Was Mark Hughes not re-signed from Barcelona?

Agree0 Disagree0

Mr negative is me, I've watched clyne, hardly stands out as a superstar , no idea why he's linked to us and if we go down that route we might as well scrap the youth system as we have better players already here

So the manager confirms that Ravel was purposely sold, was never offered a contract. That also fits in with what Ravel & Sullivan (WHU owner) both said. Ravel said "What offer" and "I would have accepted 12k a week if offered to me". Obviously his off the field problems finally caught up with him. The Manager has made it clear that Pogba will play against Fulham and that he wants him to stay. Come Pogba sign on the dotted line.

We took Paul off purely because he will be involved on Monday.

Good news from the gaffer! I think now Pogba is gettin good 20-30 minute spells in the games and is solid, he now need ts to come on and really do what Ox did for Arsenal and stand out. I have no doubt he can do that.

Manchester United, Liverpool & Tottenham alerted as Villarreal put Giuseppe Rossi on sale. The Italy international and former Man United player could be available for as little as £12m in the summer transfer window due to the Spanish club's financial problems, with Premier League teams sounded out.

Could be a great replacement for Berba if he leaves.....and also would be an terrific bargain....

Anybody got an opinion on christian eriksen?
Nobody seems to have mentioned him for a while now.
Would we be happy with signing this kid who i personally think has bags of potential!

Simmo {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown an interest in Eriksen. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. The Milan Press Office are convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expect a bid to be made by for Eriksen who remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for two more years before moving to Spain. Expect AC Milan and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United.}

Believable4 Unbelievable1

The only worry is that if he wishes to go to spain as it's his future 'dream' we will build a team around him in the middle which lets face it is what we need, he has enough ability to come in and run our midfield, then if he starts to do a 'ronaldo' and want to leave it could create further problems down the line.

Agree0 Disagree0

I watch ajax regularly, often go if cant get to OT. eriksen is awesome! love to see him at utd very versatile across midfield and a very clever player and 2 good feet. id love him at utd this year 2o million euros would get him i reckon

Vertonghen too, good player amazingly one of their top scorers this season too.

ms85

Agree0 Disagree0

I've gone off him ever since he said he'd prefer a move to Barcelona..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Ozwald and the other guy, if he comes here he'll stay a couple of seasons then get itchy feet and do one to Spain. We could do with out that. I'd rather sign someone who wants to play for us not use us as a stepping stone to Madrid/ Barca. Mort.

Agree0 Disagree0

All very confusing, I'm sure eriksen claimed he was a spurs fan and to someday play for them? I had a quick look on wiki and sure enough it was there! now it seems it has been re edited?

Agree0 Disagree0

I may be wrong here but were we looking at Mata last year before he went to Chelsea?
He would of been a great signing for us, completely wasted at the rent boys.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

United never went for Mata sadly, he was available for a fraction of the £25m Chelsea paid if they had signed him a couple months before. He was available for something like £17m.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't you think that the 2 year gap if he did stay at Ajax would tie in with Xavi getting to that uncertain age of around 33/34? Maybe his heart would be set on becoming his replacement but I think they may well have a Cm of Thiago Fab and Biscuits already in place for that transition. So let's hope we could get him in and let him forget all about any Spanish teams.

Jono

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney

It's a shame, i think he would of been superb for us.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Thiago is the long-term replacement for Xavi apparently. I do not see Eriksen at RM or Barcelona at all in the future. Perhaps in Italy? I think Mata would have been a nice signing, but I wasn't too sure before his move to Chelsea.

BBC gossip department today reporting that Utd are signing Clyne in the summer, and made a second big of £20million for Gaitan - dunno if you guys have commented on this already - didn't see it on the page though..

How does everyone feel about this? I would be very happy to see Clyne arrive at the club. He clearly has class beyond Palace (no offence to them), and it's been visible for a couple of years. A cousin of mine is a fan and has been ratting on about him for a few years. Honestly I thought he'd end up at Arsenal but I'd love him to come to Utd.

I don't know enough about Gaitan to make an opinion..

Joe {Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Barcelona both showed interest in the winger but PSG or Napoli may still be the first to eventually put an offer on the table for Gaitan. Asking price is and will be an issue. My understanding is that Manchester United and PSG did speak with Benfica in January but no bid was made. I understand that it remains the case that no firm bid has been made but Benfica are aware of sustained interest.}

Believable3 Unbelievable1

I've heard we're only willing to pay 20m for gaitan so unless they drop their asking price we won't get him I think.

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaitan is far more likely than Hazard, Oezil or Goetze. Clyne like Fryers could be back-up to two new fullbacks if the twins do end up leaving. Still not convinced they will.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney do you not think that Clyne at 20 years old has serious potential to be our first choice RB in a few years? I've watched him play and he does boss his section of the pitch. I'll be hugely excited if he does sign, that's all i'm gonna say..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd,

Do you see the Twins as our long term full backs?
I was excited by them when they 1st arrived and thought that was full backs sorted for years.
But, and I know they've been troubled with injuries, i've been less impressed with them almost each time they've played. They don't appear to be learning anything.
Perhaps a bit of healthy competition at full back would improved them because we don't have that at the moment, besides centre halfs filling in.
Dingle.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with Ozwald, Clyne looks quality and could be first choice in a couple of yeras.

Syd, would you be happy with Gaitan out of those 4 players? I wouldn't be.

Mort.

Agree0 Disagree0

'Mort'
I would prefer Gaitan over nobody. I would have him probably as my 5th choice behind Modric, Oezil, Goetze, Hazard.

'Dingle'
I like the twins and I think with a run of games they would be world-class, but they are injury prone. I watched Fabio last night and he was superb at LB. I think the manager wants to play Fabio at LB, but knows if he does it will unsettle Evra and would he want to do that and then Fabio go and get injured? Could be awkward.

'Oz'
I think Clyne would be a better player in a better team. Rafael & Clyne rotating with Jones/Fabio/Valencia/Smalling as back-up wouldn't be bad. I think we need to sign a left back mind. With Fabio injured and Fryers haggling over a new deal I think we will sign a LB. If we bring in Clyne and another RB, then it's good night for the twins.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Clyne is capable of playing left back as well though isn't he?

I get what you mean Syd re Gaitan but surely we shouldn't be looking at 5th choice, that was Rafa's undoing at the scouse. Too many times settled for 2nd or 3rd best.

Mort.

Agree0 Disagree0

Too be fair Rafa signed some players that was 8th/9th best. I do not think we will go for Gaitan without exploring other avenues first. But Gaitan would likely be the easiest for us to sign. It can be as simple as United phoning an agent and asking if that player would be interested in a move to United, if no then United will move on. Don't think just because we have signed Gaitan that he was our first choice, that would unlikely have been the case. United will first want to know if the player is interested in joining, then what wages he would want, what the club would want fee wise. It has to tick all of the boxes and Gaitan maybe the only player out of 4/5 which ticks all of the boxes.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't get why there is so much anti Gaitan going on around here. Have the people who say Hazard etc are better actually watched him play in his league and CL, or are they basing their opinions on just two games against us?

If its the latter, then we should have signed Brad Friedel instead of David De Gea.

@Sydney!
Could it be that we want Modric and Hazard/Gaitan? Scholes and Giggs both need replacing, don't they.

REDFAITH

Agree0 Disagree0

'REDFAITH'

Modric & Hazard to replace Anderson & Nani? Why not? I think that is certainly possible.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Who would buy those 2 and for how much?

I certainly wouldn't waste a penny on Nappy Ar*se Anderson!
