Hi ed, do you know if we have any interest in Arda Turan? Been watching Atleti games recently and he has really stood out along with Koke. Koke apparently has a £16 million buy out clause with Arda having a £33 million clause. So a £50 million double bid would be a great piece of business in my eyes. {Ed002's Note - Ignore the "clauses", they are simply confusing you. Arda - this is a case of his agent Ahmet Bulut whipping things up again. a bid of €24M would be enough to satisfy his club in the summer and no one was interested in paying that much. He has now signed a new contract and it would take a bid of around €40M for any sort of deal to happen. Atletico Madrid rejected a move from Schalke last January saying they did not want to sell mid-season and I would suspect they would ideally like to keep him until at least the summer. Arsenal and Liverpool spoke with Bulut in the summer and Monaco had two bids rejected. His former club Galatasaray would be interested but not at anything like the price it would take to strike a deal. Don't rule out interest from Bayern Munich at some point. Manchester United previously rejected him.}

I would imagine that a team that's second in La Liga and competing for the Champions League would be unwilling to move in January, if at all. Whether or not the club can be induced by a ridiculous offer is one thing, but for a player to exclude himself from an opportunity to shine in the later stages of the European competition seems to be beyond all likelihood.

So Bayer are a great team at home and we have ripped them apart! This is a better team than Cardiff, so what has happened? Kagawa is showing us what he can do? Jones is a great defensive midfielder? Giggs is the master? Smalling is a great right back? Moyes is the man?

Combination of all the players being up for it on the night and a good team selection. Nani, Giggs, Kagawa and Rooney were all switching positions and drifting about a lot which made us much more fluid when attacking. Hats off to Smalling and Evans who were also brilliant tonight, obviously big Phil played great as ever too.

Haven't enjoyed watching such exciting football from us in a long time. Kagawa's ball over the top to Rooney for Smallings' goal was just amazing though, no other player would attempt that, that's why he's so rated in that position.

IMO, that formation is how we should be lining up most of the time. Kagawa behind Rooney is perfect, and it needs a central playmaker to partner our more defensive midfielders. Giggs can't do this every game and Cleverly keeps possession, but doesn't create anything.

I see this as further evidence of the need for someone like Herrera, who can keep possession, pick out a pass to open a defense and even beat a man with the ball at his feet now and then. Scoring a few goals would be a bonus, and not Herreras strong point, but we need someone like this.

With Kagawa in hole and Rooney up top, the best formation is 4-1-2-1-2

Are these rumours of baines coming in January actually true?baines us a great player but £16m for a 29 yr old left back is just ridiculous? If we are raiding Everton then surely it should be for Barkley and not baines? Eds?thanks

There is a lot flying around social media ie twitter that the deal is more or less done and Bianes has played his last game for Everton

Ross lost all trust in DM last season . DIDN'T play him when he was ready . no chance of us signing him now . couple of years down the line, maybe 50 - 60 million could be a tempting bid . cheap buys from Everton are a thing of the past since DM put in feeble bids previously

Who have we signed from Everton cheap? Sold plenty to them cheap.

We never buy cheap and always sell for too little. Seems like a rule for United.

Ed, is there any update at all in regards to our LB situation? The summer showed that we are looking to sign one, but with Coentrao signing a new contract, although you said a further attempt for Baines is unlikely, do you think this could change now? Personally, I hope we don't and look elsewhere. Do you know of any other LB's we are targeting? Alex Sandro would be a good shout. {Ed002's Note - There was interest in Coentrao. As I have explained, that will now have changed. We will need to wait to see if the club look elsewhere now or wait until January.}

Alberto Moreno of Sevilla would be a good shout.
