Our Chief Scout Martin Ferguson was at the Real Madrid v Raya Vallecano game at the weekend.

Ostensibly there to see Oezil and or Khedira he could not have missed Ronaldos brilliance. Whilst the story goes he was looking at the two Germans, given the Glazers spending it was more likely to be a cheap 20 year old from Vallecano who was on the bench.

If only it was Ronaldo we were there to talk to

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I'm going to put it out there and say I would rather sign a world class central midfielder than Ronaldo. However, if Ronaldo was to play as a striker for United instead of on the wing, I would take him. Perhaps Ronnie and Javi Garcia. But then again we probably were looking at some youngster.

Agree0 Disagree0

I tend to agree GAGUS even if we did have that kind of money would it make sense to blow it all on Ronnie, who doesnt play in the position we've needed to improve for years i.e. CM

So...instead of Ronnie for £60m+ I would prefer to get, for instance, Javi Martinez (£30m) for CM and RVP (£20m) up front

Less in transfer fees and a far better improvement to our squad IMO

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I think spending money on Ronnie would be good business if i'm honest. He is a class act, he will gurantee us bags of goals and if Scholes and Giggs stick around for another season i don't see us signing anyone significant in midfield anyway.

Paul Pogba won’t consider reported offers from Juventus and Milan until he’s held further talks with Manchester United

Believable12 Unbelievable8

Would be great news if true.
Would mean he is swallowing his pride and gets back to talk to SAF after being treated like this (train alone, kicked out of squad).

I am still baffled what happened to the option for another year that SAF talked about in december

Jonny8

Agree0 Disagree0

His agents apparently been on twitter today and made it blatantly clear that they're only interested in whose willing to pay the most whether it be Juventus or anybody. He's pretty much put him up for auction, if the account is valid it paints the pair of them as little more than undignified purse snatchers

Wilbur

Agree0 Disagree0

I too was wondering the same Johnny8

I can only assume that the extension clause can still be implemented, and probably will be if necessary - but that SAF wants to tie him down to a more permanent deal now as he doesnt want him to leave for free at the end of next season

Perhaps one of the Eds could clarify?

Thanks

Gav {Ed002's Note - Both sides may well need to agree.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he is off in the summer. He has turned down 20 000 pounds a week final offer. As much as Fergie rates him, he pays what he thinks is correct and no one really arm twists the old fox.

Agree0 Disagree0

United should just tie pogba down and give him the 45k because is sooner rather than later he going to break into the united first team. Whats the point in united going for a player like martinez and arguably paying more than 45k in wages to secure his services, when pogba is similar type of player (in terms of position) and would settle for 45k.

I can understand SAF's frustration with Pogba's agent, but he needs to look at the bigger picture.

Agree0 Disagree0

With all this talk concerning Pogba, his he really that important to us ? Why his he not in front of Cleverley if he's that good...He looks decent when he gets the chance i have to admit , but can he do it for a full season. We have let great players go in the past...Becks,Ronnie,van the man , Stam . So i dont see a problem if pogba does go....Im sure behind closed doors at O.T there is plenty going off , which none of us on this site can guess....Summer is here soon , and we will be conected to every player which comes on the market, have faith guys im sure Sir Alex has things in place already, he aint done bad for the last 25 years.Expect a big clearout and plenty of exciting names comming in.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's true we have let big names go, but they always went for big fees and cleared big wages, therefore more often then not leaving the club with a profit after signing a replacement.
here it will cost us a LOT of money to get a replacement in, in fee and wages (higher then what Pogba would earn)

Jonny8

Agree0 Disagree0

It takes more than just footballing ability to make it at United and nobody knows this better than Fergie. If players are behaving like this at 18 & 19 can you imagine what they will be like in 5 or 6 years time - these guys have no integrity and are more interested in earning money than winning trophies and becoming legends at one of the biggest clubs in the world and if that is there mentality then United probably isnt the club for them. Plenty of good young guys coming through with the right approach like Cleverly and if Pogba and Freyers dont want to be part of that then good luck. I personally would have thought they would have seen sense after Morrison, who was linked with City, Chelsea, Milan, PSG etc ended up at West Ham.

IrishRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Not giving into Pogba is just purely down to principal which aint good business sense. If he is as good a prospect that we know he is then by giving him what he is asking for we would be saving a future transfer fee of trying to replace him of £25m plus wages of £100k per week at least. As another poster says, SAF needs to look at the bigger picture

With Morrison already gone (to much baggage anyway), Pogba lo oking more likely to leave (Juve apparantly offering 40k a wk) and reports from weeks ago that Fryers is stalling on signing a contract, how do people think our 'transission' period is going.... HERBIE

Believable2 Unbelievable5

We'll be fine, i don't think that we should pander to spoilt teenagers, end of. There will always be talented lads who want to play for Manchester United and wear the shirt. We don't need teenage mercenaries whose agents are ruining their careers.

UnitedForever

Agree0 Disagree0

Getting more expensive by the week

Jonny8

Herbie
how do you judge a "transission" period.
the only way i can think of is to compare the team that comes out of the transission to the one before it.
so the question maybe is has the current team got the potential to be as good as the 2008/2009 team

As much as i would love him to stay....

what the hell has he done to deserve 40k a week???

it baffles me it really does......

Robbo

I think you'll find it's the same problem we had with Morrison, not his wage demands. Rather his demands as regards playing time, which I think is fair enough. Why have a career in something you love if you still can't do the thing you love?

Pogba has turned down 22k with United, Juventus have offered him 29k a week and its thought AC Milan have offered between 29k - 31k a week. He will leave United and have a choice between those 2, PSG have also offered him a contract worth 35k a week, Rising to 45k in his 2nd season depending on appearances, But he doesnt want to go back to France. Chelsea are also interested but havnt made an offer yet, I told you all 2 days before the Ajax game that he wouldnt feature again until he signed a contract and i was shot down, This is what i know now.

Believable7 Unbelievable5

Can you please tell us all how you are privy to exact contractual offers to a professional footballer ??

Devil Dust.

Agree0 Disagree0

He could be making it all up but to be fair he was right last time

Morrison went down a league and can't get a game. Good luck to Pogba if his agent has convinced him he'd get straight in at any of the clubs mentioned.
It is alarming that we've suddenly become a club that can't keep hold of a decent young talent like Pogba though.
For our 1st team regulars do we not compete, in terms of wages, with Italian clubs?
Dingle.

Agree0 Disagree0

Exactly Dingle - if he signed for £22k p/w with us and went on to do well he would be on £50k+ within 12-18 months, then onto £90k+ not too long after that if he went on to become the player we all think he can

In Italy he might get an extra £10k p/w now but would he necessarily be on as much in say 3 years?

Bottom line is he shouldnt be thinking about money at this point in his career, but even if that is his motivation it would be a pretty short sighted move to leave us for Italy IMO

Alan Pulido, this story is making the rounds. If he continues to impress, it could see him make the move in the summer it appears! I've just been watching him on youtube and looks a decent enough prospect. Anyone else know more about him?

Sanshine

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Watching players on Youtube is silly, Bebe looks amazing. Don't know much about him though.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Bebe does not look amazing on youtube. Plus I wasn't watching 'Alan Pulido's Best Bits' I was watching match highlights.

Anyway, thank you for your input.

Sanshine

Sanshine this gds fella likes to try and play the biggun on ere with his putdowns but i know what you mean ive watched him on probably the same clips, looks a decent prospect and he is earning decent reviews in mexico, looks a more exciting player than chico.

Another young player full of potential until he gets to the cusp of the first team and then starts demanding silly ammounts in wages. can't wait!
