Talksport are reporting that we are going after Thiago Alcantara. If he is that good I can't see Barca letting go of him. Talksport do tend to be more reliable than other websites though. What are your thoughts Ed?

{Editor's Note: Thiago Alcantara's contract is up in the summer and he is concerned about opportunities at Barcelona.}

Man Utd are going to sign no one else in January, the only stuff happening at Old Trafford then would be Welbeck and Cleverley coming back from loan. Don't be surprised to see them stay on loan for the rest of the season with Gibson and Evans maybe going out on loan for palying time as well. Also they both need to get extra confidence, especially Evans. In the summer Man Utd are going to sign De Gea to replace Vandersar and Kuszczak to be sold as we already have lindegard as the future back up. Rodwell also will be signed with Hargreaves, Owen, Diouf also leaving and Vandersar and Neville retiring. Some youth players will be signed and Gibson's and Evans' future will be considered and Morrison Pogba Brown and King will be promoted to the first team squad

Manchester United watch £15m-rated Atletico Madrid goalkeeper David de Gea

Manchester United scouts watched Atletico Madrid's David de Gea again last week as Sir Alex Ferguson continues his hunt for a new goalkeeper.
The 20-year-old made three outstanding saves to help Atletico run out 3-0 winners over Malaga to further boost a burgeoning reputation.
Atletico insist De Gea is not for sale but would be vulnerable to bids of about £15million for a player who has welcomed links to United.

Ferguson has already signed Denmark No 1 Anders Lindegaard from Aalesunds but is on the look-out for another keeper after confirming that Edwin van der Sar is expected to retire at the end of the season.
United are also watching Schalke's Manuel Neuer, Bayer Leverkusen's Rene Adler, Rangers' Allan McGregor and Liverpool's Pepe Reina.
De Gea, an Under 21 international, has been tipped to eventually succeed Iker Casillas for the senior Spain. Real Madrid and Barcelona have also tracked his progress, but he would face greater competition for a start at either of La Liga's giants.

Do u guyz think that Malaga taking Asenjo on loan till the end of the season is because so he can get playing time b4 DeGea comes to O.T?

Answer

Maybe it gives Fergie a chance to have a look at Asenjo. .

The reason Asenjo has gone out on loan to Malaga is to get some first team action between now and the end of the season, as De Gea will be coming to United. Atletico will need a keeper come the begining of next season so it makes sense really that he goes on loan to get match practice.

Also on an unrelated subject Nani was rested for the Birmingham game as he's not 100% over his injury yet and there's no point risking him with the run in coming thick and fast. He should be fit for West Brom.

But why should we go for the less talented keeper who couldn't cut it at Atletico Madrid?

I still think that De Gea is the most likely goalkeeper to come in. Lindegaard will be happy to be backup at a club like Manchester United with a good chance to fill in if De Gea can't cope with the pressure which i don't think will happen, because he was one of the reasons that Atletico could win the Euro League and didn't show any signs of nervousness.

Even Guillem Balague (insider of the spanish football) said that we have an agreement with De Geas agent.
