Manchester United Rumours
Blair Mayne YNWA - I have read all of Alan Sugar's comments and he clearly knows nothing about United's finances, for a start United themselves do not owe 700m, they actually owe 520.9m that is the amount that is fixed against the clubs assets, and they do not pay 50m a year in interest payments, the exact figure is just under 44m. He has also got his dates wrong, United are safe until 2017, not 2016.

And what do you think will happen come 2017? That's right United will re-service the debt at a lower rate and they will be paying around 40m a year in annual interest payments. He makes out that the Glazers are desperate to sell and that is not true, they have no need to sell as we are still making a profit even when we are paying 44m annual interest payments. They have already turned down a 1.5bn bid.

United are by no means in a good situation but we are nowhere near deaths door and we will continue to challenge for the title, unlike our Scouse friends. Hes right about one thing though, the Red Knights would have been a waste of time.

People forget Teams like Real Madrid & Barcelona are also 500m in debt, teams like West Ham, Atletico Madrid etc are 200m in debt, Liverpool 350m in debt, Arsenal 230m in debt.

I would listen to Sir Alan Sugar's opinion if he has spent a day looking at United's finances bit by bit, but he is listening to hearsay & speculation. If he spent a day looking at the United books i guarantee you he would change his opinion. United have sponsorship deals with Audi, Budweiser, Turkish Airways, Betfred and two monster deals with AON and NIKE, the NIKE sponsorship deal is worth 302m over 14 years and the AON deal is worth 80m over 4 years.
