Man utd planning to bid 20m for chelsea striker Daniel sturridge.

Believable7 Unbelievable28

Would be a good signing. can't see them selling to us.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not a hope John Joe no strikers coming in so don't waste your keyboards life

Agree0 Disagree0

But if we sell berbatov i don't think signing a striker would be a bad idea. And i can see him going out this summer.

Stoke bid £6m, yet you jump to £20m? I think you have your valuations all wrong mate.

As soon as United's interest in Nasri hit the papers, City were always going to step in. Its not that they need Nasri, he becomes a prized signing purely because they will be seen to have beaten United. That is the shallow thinking of a club whos only claim to fame is that they have "Manchester" in their name and an owner with unlimited wealth. Together with Chelsea, they are effectively distorting the transfer market and, more importantly, the salary structures at all clubs (ie Rooney). If they sign Nasri they will get a good player, but more importantly to them, its the only way they can beat United at anything, and they can only do that by offering ridiculous salaries. This will excite their dullard supporters, but this is what City are all about The Premier League have let ownership models like City and Chelsea conduct their financial dealings without constraint, and that has to affect other clubs. Whilst they are allowed to conduct their business in a competitive environment through artificial financial support, it is inevitable salaries will continue to spiral out of control, clubs will be forced to put up ticket prices, supporters will not be able to afford to go, and more and more clubs who attempt to compete will go out of business. It is only UEFA that can see the damage this kind of ownership is causing, hence the FFP ruling, but the Premier League continue to bury their heads in the sand, happy no doubt, that City and Chelsea can attract the best players to sell the PL brand....If Nasri does move to City on £180,000 per week, it will be a shameful day for the management of the PL, and another nail in the coffin of fair competition and the principal of earning sporting success. In terms of sporting achievement, there is no difference between Chelsea or City winning the league, and Ben Johnson winning the olympic gold medal. Both successes would have been acheived through artificial means, and more and more supporters will ask "what's the point?"

Believable27 Unbelievable6

Im a Liverpool supporter but I try to be neutral about post like this............I find it hard to believe the one sided views at times at times.....no one else should buy good players from under uniteds noses but its OK for United to buy Rooney, Berbatove and anyone else who is a potential threat ???

Get real, every football club will go for the best players if they can afford it.

Im a liverpool supporter and our primary requirement for a player is ' does he want to play his heart out just to get a chance to wear the famous red shirt ? If the answer is YES then we are interested, no matter who he plays for or what he costs.

Fergie has been buying all the top UK players all his career, mainly to stop any other teams getting too close to United....If Berbatov had stayed with Spurs, and Rooney stayed with Everton where would United be?........4th or 5th methinks.............Im sorry but its needs saying, United is no different to others, whereas Liverpool have returned to their famous and very succesful history to deal in the transfer market.

its going to be an interesting 12 months

Tel 1949

Agree0 Disagree0

City are jst inflating the trnsfer market and aint buying any players...look at the sanchez saga..they inflated the mkt for nothng..sanchez does not want them...i fear the same thng may happen wiv nasri story

Agree0 Disagree0

No cos we would have signed someone else obviously.

the point is that united, liverpool, arsenal etc buy players with money the club has EARNED rather than running off to a sugar daddy and raiding his wallet. and its your club that has more to worry about than united, you've managed 7th and 6th.

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe they should of done something when utd went in for rooney everton didn, t want to sell how about as far back as dwight yorke did villa want to sell him remind me how many times did taggert get done for poaching young players in the nineties the difference now is utd dont have exclusive rights to every top player anymore and you lot dont like it and remind us which team has broke the british transfer record the most times you bought success like every team who has ever won the league and regarding the current transfer market maybe you distorted it when you took 80mill for ronaldo but then expect every other team to give you there best players for peanuts

Agree0 Disagree0

I think people are just jumping the gun. Nasri is not looking for cash. He is gunning for success. Arsenal could have given him all he wants in cash, but they aren't going to change their recruitment policy. He's gutted and wants to leave. Nasri is very smart, just like Sanchez. Players want lots of success and money should follow then. Good luck guys, just wait and see which way Nasri is going to choose and this will be all over by tomorrow.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is an incredibly naive thing to write, we have been cherry picking the best players around since Fergie started. United dominated with a superb manager, healthy investment and a progressive youth policy. We now have a slightly different policy, since we started to lose players we targeted, to Kenyon. If Nasri comes to United, it will be because he has ambition and prefers our set up. Shouldn't worry about what other teams are doing, sounds a bit like sour grapes and hypocracy. By the way, the point is we are now nineteen.

Agree0 Disagree0

In reply to the liverpool supporter. im a man utd fan and i agree with you some what. We do buy the players that are threatening us rooney, berbs yorke etc. and yeah we have broke transfer records for players roy keane etc but to say we have bought success is a lil unjust city and chelsea have spent more between them in the last 5 years then all the other prem clubs put together almost. i aint bitter and everyone that knows me knows im a football fan not just a normal man utd fan. something needs to be done to regulate the financial side of the game. buying success with the nevilles, beckham, butt scholes, giggs, o'shea, fletcher. ect isnts bad when you think the spine of our team for the majority of our domination cost us nothing.. yes nothing. all home grown. can you tell me honestly that yaya toure 24 mill and 220k a week is not causing a domino effect for all clubs to pay ridiculous amounts if yaya is worth 24mill than xavi must me 100 mill. this is treatening clubs ability to survive and in years to come we will be left with just a handful of clubs and a format like major league soccer. is it to late for the ffp rules?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we broke the british transfer record several times, so what we did with money we EARNED as a club through success and the turnstiles. Now who the hell have city and chelsea bought with the money earn?

Agree0 Disagree0

City need to get some scouts n stop poaching the player united chelsea liverpool ect want and just because they have money dosent mean they have history they wont win enything this season united champions again defo

Agree0 Disagree0

I wrote earlier on ( Im the LFC supporter). Wether we like it or not the motivation to play for the club abd the supporters in many cases no longer exists. Lets face it Rooney threatened to leave United last year.... why ?? CASH and only CASH. He is a good player but hes , like at lot of other players, is holding teams to ransom. thats the reason why kenny first and foremost wants players who will fight for their place and the honour to play.

Thats how United became great.....by using players who fight for their team....eg Beks, Scholes, Giggs etc

Liverpool have cash and they will need to buy some expensive players, however Kenny is getting his backbone of the team to be players who play for the honour....Kelly, Spearing, Robinson etc.

United at some stage are going to have to get back to the 'old' method.....you cant buy success forever....look at your colleagues down the road.

ps even though Im a red....just imagine what teams like everton could do with only 30 million of transfer kitty Look who Sunderland have bought for less than 20 mill in total ( cash from LFC)

They have players who want to play for the shirt too...

I just hope they change to rules and limit the TOTAL spend per annum on wages and transfers.....that way everyone has a chance to win the league....not just the top 4 or 5 teams like its been for years

Tel 1949

Agree0 Disagree0

United have always had a strong youth pollicy throughout all history - the reason we are a world class team is because we have EARNED success since the beginning And to the liverpool fan - United dont need to go back to th ol ways u nut - cos we are still doing that ... we have in case u didnt notice several major positions to fill - its not often we buy several players.. but this time its necessary and Alex is buying Very wisely - viva le football

Reading Nina Bracewell-Smith lastest message on twitter from like 10 minutes ago says:

"CF to Barcelona, SN to Man U, GC to Man City. Never has there been such an exodus of first team players. Do they all have the same agent?"

We'll all look at the SN one and hope she's right and presuming it's Samir Nasri before everyone makes up some s#tty names

And Yes i noticed the "Man U" bit, yes i thought about changing it to keep everyone happy but i didn't write it and it's a direct quote (just before there are loads of people are complaining for writing it)

Believable15 Unbelievable2

Its in quotation marks mate so it doesn't matter, can't help if the woman doesn't know but being a southerner they all call it us anyway, insult intended or not intended. you'd also think she'd have more clue than most.

30 Jun 2011 18:15:49
my wives brother is sec of Arsenal supporters club in dublin and was in london yesterday sorting out there allocation for tickets next season, he has told me that rumour is that nasri is using city, hoping arsenal will accept citys bid and then united will match it and he will push for united. The transfer is more about silverware than money.only one stumbling block is that city are willing to offer milliner or adam jonston on season loan as well.wenger is also very interested in johnny evans and has spoken to SAF but has been told that no players leaving united till return from USA.I posted months ago that someone i know who works for AON told me takeover will happen, spoke again and as far as he knows its done and dusted but won't be announced till feb 2012.

Believable13 Unbelievable16

Nasri will sign for city, He will get the big money he wanted and he will just use the excuse that he could'nt sign for united coz it would hurt the arsenal fans

dylan

Believable18 Unbelievable27

Yes any excuse as long as he get his 180 k a week, he must be starving poor sod

Agree0 Disagree0

Sure will b just the same as signing for us as city cause city will b a top 4rival so that excuse wnt b gud enuf

Agree0 Disagree0

Nasri won't go to man city, city are only putting bids in for every player manu are interested in because they have the money and are scared no matter how much money they have they will never catch manu, and are only copying whatever fergie is doing because their manager can't scratch himself.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm united through and through but let's be realistic lads city will compete for title next year along with Chelsea if nasri goes to city or even Chelsea the first thing us fans will say is he went for the money, maybe so but he will also be goin to win titles not saying it's goin to happen but city will be strong next year

Agree0 Disagree0

Completely agree, Arsenal should be playing tactical here, we will be in the top two again next season with or without Nasri, I think City are more of a risk to Arsenal's top four spot than us. Perhaps it would be better for him to join us.

I genuinely fear for Arsenal next season, this is Liverpool's best chance for top four, they best take it.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not a done deal he might use his brain and sign for united... At 20m and 180k he still cheaper than Wesley....

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point Sydney weather we sign anyone or not and no matter who city buy why are ya so worried?in fergie we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

Cant see Nasri signing for anyone else but Man United - if u come from a struggling Arsenal (no trophies in 6 yrs) - you aint gonna take a gamble and sign for Man City - surely u gonna sign for a glamorous club who are in the habit of winning trophies and have prob greatest manager in the world. He's also known to be discontented with not winning trophies.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jun 2011 17:11:10
Nasri going to City, offering him £180,000 a week, FIFA really need to step in with this fair play rule, United buy players through money they have MADE through success, City and Chelsea buy players from Billionaire owners. Nasri would be a complete and utter fool to join City, he said he wants to leave to win trophies, obviously isn't about trophies as you won't win many at City

Believable28 Unbelievable10

How can it be Unbelievable when it is all over SSN

Agree0 Disagree0

All nasri will be at city is another player in between superstars, 3 years later he will be sold, at utd he will be another cantona

Agree0 Disagree0

United, s success was bought years ago just check who has broke the british transfer record the most difference now is they have got competion for players now gone are the days when utd went to villa told them they wanted dwight yorke told them how much they was paying not a penny more cos they had no competion and got there man stop living in the past we don't want a two team league in England let's get five or six teams fighting it out

Agree0 Disagree0

FIFA have done something about it. Why do you think all these clubs are spending big? It's the last transfer window before the fair play rule comes in and City are well outside of it.... that's before you account the wages of Yaya, Silva, Milner. Good luck to them They won't be doing it for much longer especially when they can't fill their stadium week in week out

Latest news from a mate on the coaching team at Newcastle. Pardew has made an enquiry about buying Gibson and wants Pogba on loan until January.

Ferguson is reluctant to allow any loan deals to go to Newcastle after the Rossi debacle, but may discuss Gibson IF Barton is interested in joining United as part of the deal.

Why on earth would Fergie want Joey Barton, he has some good games this season and appears to have changed his ways and at times has been impressive for Newcastle, never will be Man Utd quality.

Modric, sneijder, sanchez, nasri...just this window then milner(they can have him), dzeko, balotelli, david silva, barry. So many people that they just take from us. The only one from last window i would have liked is david silva. But they need to start searching for their own targets.

Agree0 Disagree0

That, s right only utd scout players do you not think it's because every player utd are interested in are top players and most top sides are interested in them grow up and don't worry cos everyone knows every player in the world wants to play for utd and if they don't it's because of the money cos utd players play for the love of the club not money ie Rooney only on 250k a week

David Gill was in Barcelona recently, but not as it was reported to meet Sanchez's representatives, he had a meeting with Xavier Hernandez, as Barcelona are in the process of replacing him with Cesc Fabregas. SAF sees him as the perfect central midfielder to compliment the more industrious players he would be paired, with regardless of his age (31). Remember SAF has bought players in their 30's who have continued to have a great career at United eg. Sheringham & Van Der Sar. There is no value in the market for young creative midfielders at present but SAF knows that there are none better than the older Xavi.

Believable14 Unbelievable28

'Bullsht'

Xavi will retire at Barcelona, Iniesta will move to the left making room for Cesc. Iniesta will replace Villa out on the wide left. He's 31 with chronic achilles problems, it will be this problem that ends his career.

United will make bids for the following players under the radar ......

Yaroslav Rakitskiy (left back / centre back from Shakhtar Donetsk)

Fabian Lustenberger (midfield from Hertha Berlin)

Javi Martinez (midfield from Athletic Bilbao)

Ibrahim Afellay (attacking midfield from Barcelona)

The plan is to buy two of these four.

Believable8 Unbelievable27

Wouldn't mind martinez or afellay but I cant say I have ever heard of the other two.

Also would we really bid for four with the intention of buying two?

1redarmy

Agree0 Disagree0

Bidding for four with the expectation that two will be successful. Lustenberger and Rakitskiy's reputation was enhanced by the U21 tournament. Javi Martinez was already known about, while Afellay is a superb Dutch player who can't get in the Barcelona team. They all sound like good candidates in my opinion.

£20m. It seems that SAF is confident to get him. Arsenal are about to lose Fabregas at any moment and the talks with Nasri are ongoing but aren't able to give him money he wants. Of course, he would be a great addition but if ends up in another club that won't threaten us we should happy.

Ed, what do you think is the main reason for not signing sneijder? is it because he is too expensive or is it because he doesn't want a move away from milan? and do you think there is still any chance of signing him? because i heard united have agreed wages of about 200,000. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know what is happening with him at the moment.}

Believable7 Unbelievable4

I have heard his wage demands were too big.great player but unproven in premier league.Would like to see nasri at ot, he is young and would not cost as much.

Mayb its because he is not good enough and thinks to highly of himself

I thought i should share this with u guys, ,

If Sir Alex Doesn t get Nasri, then i think Juan Mata will be bought.
Will be a good signing, and may be Javi Martinez as well. {Ed002's Note - I would not bank on Martinez making a move to Old Trafford in the near future.}

Juan mata is a winger so no, maybe we should go for fabregas for 30m ed please respond

I'm sure I am not the only one to say I hope I see some movement for Hazard and Nasri today.

MP {Ed002's Note - Any move for Hazard will have to be pretty much immediate as Lille are about to get an offer they cannot refuse for the player from PSG.}

Believable9 Unbelievable3

I heard they will offer 20m euros as a first bid, which is pretty high. It's the right time for them to do it though as there are other deals going through as we speak. PSG are IMO spending very wisely. What do you think Ed?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - There will be a higher bid made before the weekend.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Im worried that hazard will end up being another sanchez story, if 20mil is the first bid it will end up almost 30.

Eds, in a bid to quench my Juan Mata 'thirst', please tell me we're in for him It's killing me seeing more clubs being linked with every day and none of these clubs are United What is your information on this player? Thanks

ags {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs in Juan Mata, and Valencia are preparing for next season without the player. However, interest is also being shown by Chelsea Manchester United and Manchester City, Arsenal. Barcelona may well also become interested at some point and if they do show their hand I feel he could move there. Manchester City were reportedly heading the queue but had an offer rejected and Arsenal appear to be preparing an offer themselves. It would not be entirely out of the question that Liverpool or Manchester United could push for the player and make a concerted effort to match any other offer; and then there is a chance Mata could join either. In order to get the best deal, Valencia wanted to wait (a) to see if Barcelona show an interest; (b) until after the Under 21 Championships where he could well put in a very good performance. A player exchange for David Villa if Barcelona sign Alexis Sanchez is also not out of the question in my view.}

Chelsea have made a huge undisclosed bid for Palermo's attacking midfielder Javier Pastore, which seems to signal the end of their quest for Luka Modric.

Not so relevant to this window. But could conner wickams transfer have sir alex behind it? Not go to liverpool in order to pave the way to our club if he proves himself. Given the loose partnership, ex players and loan singings ending up with bruce, some sort of off the rec agreement that any lower league talent coming through alex is interested but not sure of or not needing yet get steered towards sunderland with the possibility of ending up at old trafford. Gives bruce an extra tool in attracting players. Eds its not unheard of is it? Constantine Red {Ed002's Note - I am certain that Sir Alex is not behind his move.}

I think there is 0 chance of us signing Wickman any time ever....hes a Liverpool fan and there is supposed to be a clause in his contract he can talk to Liverpool in a few years time

Agree0 Disagree0

If that was the case then why did henderson go to liverpool ?

May or may not of noticed but the sun reports that man utd have given sir alex ferguson the green light to bid for samir nasri. So many rumours going round now I don't normally believe. But his name is being mentioned more and more and it makes me feel more confident in us bringing him to OT. Would be a great signing Happy days in the stretford end for me next season

U can't be exactly sure if Nasri is really coming to OT, but there is still a 50/50 chance.
