Some sources scattered around have said that we have activated a release clause in two players' contracts. One is believed to be Ander Herrera, the other unknown. It is NOT fellaini, as his release clause expired at the start of the season.

Believable32 Unbelievable13

Any idea who the other player is?

Agree1 Disagree0

Its juan mata

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree5

I can't tell who the other player is sorry. We've been linked with a few players this week, the likes of herrera, ozil, baines, fellaini and de Rossi, but I'm not sure at all

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubt its de rossi or Fellaini as neither (up until recently in fellainis case) have release clauses inn their contract

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't think Juan Mata had a release clause. and if I'm right there's absolutely not a chance on this earth Chelsea would sell him to us, especially after telling them where to stick it with Rooney. I'd be very very happy with Herrera and fellaini. Don't need anything else but would take Baines as well. Would however prefer coentrau if we insist on a left back

Agree1 Disagree0

Joey Barton? :/ Doesn't Julian Draxler have a release clause? could be anyone to be fair!

Agree0 Disagree0

The other player is Cabaye

Agree0 Disagree0

Gundogan? Maybe the reason the equaliser was in Germany

We have just activated Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ande Hererra release clause of €36m and it's now upto to the player

Believable12 Unbelievable22

I would be surprised if he didn't fancy the move to us.

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree with samthered as Herrera simply won't win anything at Bilbao despite the attractive football they can produce. He's 24 and a great future ahead of him. Look at all the other targets apart from Fellaini, they have won major trophies, so if the release clause is met, he would be daft not to move on

Just heard a rumour that if Fellaini shaves his hair his price tag halves. Apparently he's booked in the barbers not far from carrington as a medical is to follow soon after. As much as I would like this rumour to be true it simply doesn't cut it for me, just want something decent to come out before the window shuts.

Believable30 Unbelievable8

As the sites resident Barber i'll shave his head for free so he can sign for United. Lol.

Agree1 Disagree0

Perhaps a donation to the Wayne Rooney - Transplant Fund might help in Team Building

Rumors that Rooney has suffered a head injury in training.

Believable27 Unbelievable14

Said to be by Jones in training but someone said exactly the same rumour was on twitter last year and was rubbish

Agree1 Disagree0

Last two days to make up things. Only Daily Fail reporting it. This could be all over the internet if it was true.

Agree0 Disagree0

We could really do without this right now. Hope Kagawa is fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hope its not to serious its a pitty if he has to miss the match tomorrow as he loves to play against us 2-1 the pool

Agree0 Disagree2

Thank god its a head injury.
Impossible to do any damage.

Agree2 Disagree0

Does this mean he wants to leave again?

Agree1 Disagree0

Rooney injured in training today?

Believable13 Unbelievable15

31 Aug 2013 21:26:36
the spoilt brat rooney dislikes playing on Merseyside doesent he, always an excuse for him not to play against everton or the other lot.might knock some sense in to that thick skull of his.

Moyes is ready to pay 15 million for Daniele De Rossi and 35 for Herrera

Believable23 Unbelievable20

13/ 37 would be better.

Agree1 Disagree0

I am hearing that there are definatley no medicals booked for either today or tomorrow, read into that what you will.

Agree0 Disagree3

Togethered - at this time of the transfer market, any medical will take place wherever the player is, rather than at United's usual place.

I would still be optimistic of some transfer activity before Monday night.

Agree1 Disagree1

Fair point Mike.

Agree0 Disagree0

Where do United's medicals usually take place? I thought that the medicals were done at the Aon training complex. If it is, does that mean that it would still need to be booked, considering it's the personal facility of the club?

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe that eventually all full medicals wil be done there but at the moment the facilities are all not up and fully functional, and that all blood work has to be done at a separate hospital

Agree0 Disagree0

Look guy, s let's face facts, Moyes is not a big enough name as yet to entice players to our great club. David Gill was a past master at getting deals done quickly and effeciently, This Woodward guy in my eyes has no idea how to conduct transfer business ( were did he come from anyhow's). This time in every season our targets have been bought, Berbarubbish was the only last minute one I can think off. I know it's going to take time for Moyes to be the manager we hope he can be, but if he does, nt start and make improvements to the squad, fans will get fed up and angry sooner rather than later.

Agree0 Disagree5

De Rossi says he's going nowhere apparently.

Agree0 Disagree0

Does anyone know if he herrera is actually good enough?
I made the point to my mates who are chelski fans that they paid 30 mil for a 25 yr old with 2 caps.
Herrera is 24 with no full international cap. Is this just because of how packed the spanish midfield is? Surely he would have played a few minutes at some point!

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbarubish, are you for real. He was/is a quality player & is still better than 90% of prem strikers.

Agree1 Disagree0

Ruan - Herrera is very, very good. Barca looked at him as potential replacement for Fabregas, and had already been looking at him. It has been suggested (including by one of the eds here) that Barca's interest in Herrera caused Fabregas comments to spanish media which triggered utd interest in Fabregas.

If he's good enough for Fabregas to feel threatened, that's good enough for me.

He's not as good as Fabregas, but is a couple of years younger. IMO he's actually better from a defensive point of view, almost as good as a playmaker and only really lacking in goal threat, although even there he's hardly
terrible.

Also, he's about the same level as Thiago, just a couple of years older, maybe not as much potential, but again, better defensively.

All around, really good fit. He'd slot in alongside Carrick and push forwards a little, create chances and help get the best from Kagawa and RVP.

According to guilleme ballague.
Herrera deal is stopped as united chief rat woodhole. don't think they should pay that money.

Believable22 Unbelievable21

Slybet obviously need to stop people putting money on the move then.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is an awful lot of money for a player of that mould but with Asier Illarramendi going for 38.9m Euro, one can feel justified in spending 36m Euro on Herrera. He'll have a bigger impact on United's campaign than Illarramendi will do on Madrid's.

Agree1 Disagree0

Have we got the 10mil advance we paid for Falcao back yet?

Agree3 Disagree0

Why post such utter drivel? At least make sense or take your nonsense to the banter page.

Agree0 Disagree1

Good decision. He's not worth anything close to 30m.

Agree0 Disagree2

Not surprised to be honest. They are a difficult club and in the best of times it would take a few weeks to negotiate this deal and can't see how we can get it done unless we end up paying a kings ransom. It looks like whoever we were after did not happen and hence this late bid.

Let's see what happens with Fellaini and baines. Woodward has looked clueless by the looks of it not knowing the details obviously.

Agree1 Disagree0

It would be 55 after the tax, more than cesc

Agree0 Disagree0

GCU - Bilbao have already said they're happy to deal if United meet the clause.

flint - tax wouldn't apply, it's not an aggressive bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dark

Bilbao have said they will not even consider the bid unless first the player asks to leave and his buyout clause is met and neither has happened and I don't believe it is going to happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

Redfaith what are you on about?

Agree0 Disagree0

Anderson plus cash for Herrera.

Believable15 Unbelievable43

Brazilian Anderson to sign for Basque-only Athletic Bilbao? Would be a first. {Ed044's Note - It would not be a first mate but it is unusual.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Bilbao operate a strict Basque only player regime. {Ed001's Note - they do sign non-Basques, they just usually find extremely tenuous links from nowhere. I believe it is the Spanish players that have to be Basque only now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Anderson was born in the Basque country, I don't think Bilbao would be interested in him. Difficult club to do business with as Bayern found out.

Agree0 Disagree0

Doubtful, they only sign players born, native or living in basque regions. anderson wouldn't qualify

Agree0 Disagree0

Should point out that Laporte is French. They do have none Basque players every now and again!

Agree0 Disagree0

Correct me if I'm wrong but parts of southern france are considered 'Basque Country'? In which Laporte was born!

Agree2 Disagree0

Jamal -

Whilst you're right in saying that there are parts of France which are considered to be 'Basque Country' - Bilbao traditionally only select players who are from the Spanish Basque region.

Laporte was born in Aquitaine - which is around 200 miles away from the area which is considered 'French Basque' and so even if Bilbao did select players from the wider Basque region; he would not be eligible.

Hope that clears things up a little for you!

Agree0 Disagree0

I´m from Bilbao, an Athletic supporter. We have only basque players, or players that have learned football in the basque country.
Llorente is not basque, but he came to play with us at the age of 12 yo.
Laporte is frech, but he came to basque country to play when he was a child, so he can play in Athetlic now.
We never ever play with a player who´s not basque or have nothing to do with basque country before he stars to play with us.
thank you, and we need Herrera much more tan the money (and tan MU does).

Agree0 Disagree0

So while we have you here Moa how good is he?!

Agree0 Disagree0

Herrera´s a really good player. Young, with football visión, good defender, and very very good tactically. Maybe he´s too weak for premier. he play about 60 good minutes.
Really good player, very very clever, but 36 million euros is too much.

Rumour has it that Fellaini officials are meeting MUFC in
the morning. deal is 99% done. Report is also that Everton have enquired/approached for McCarthy. I think we'll get Fellaini.

Believable45 Unbelievable23

Apparently McCarthy is nailed on for us (Everton) according to his father so I guess that means Fellaini is signing for you.Good player, I think he's going to surprise a lot of your fans who seem to think he's crap.A lot of you seem to think he will be playing as a DM.I would rather him playing off the striker, he's much more effective in that role.

Agree2 Disagree3

Fellani has already said that his best position is a dm.Moysie only used him off the striker cause everton didn't have anyone else to play there

Agree3 Disagree1

Paul, that's exactly why we don't want him. He is not that great at cm, and we already have Kagawa and Rooney competing for that spot behind RVP, with Young, Zaha amd Janujaz able to cover there if neccesary.

We don't need another attacking midfielder, we need someone like Herrera who can create, or a Toure type who can win the ball and bully (Fellaini to slow and clumsy for this role).

Agree2 Disagree2

I think he will be a good addition to our thin midfield. as we compete in 4 different tournament. and a season is very long, any bad injury can spoil it if we don't have necessary cover

Agree1 Disagree1

I agree I don't want him as an AM but I don't agree with the rest who say we don't want him. The guy is a beast & would be awesome holding & breaking play up. People that don't want him haven't seen him enough. He was a revelation last year & we be better in our system.

Agree4 Disagree2

Common sense, he's going to play cdm

Agree0 Disagree0

I realy hope we don't get this Feilaini, anybody but him!Seriously overrated.say what you want!I think he's mediocre!this cannot be the standard utd should be going for!no pace no technical ability, no skill, he can't tackle properly, he's big man who pushes people off the ball, gives too many free kicks away.hes not going to spray passes around the pitch, because he can't pass very well.the only thing going for him is his heading ability.Everton reject and he's no marque signing, oh I can see it now, madrid barca city chelsea will all be quaking in the boots won't.ffs the chap can't even get a proper hair cut

Agree0 Disagree2

SuperRed dude chill

Agree0 Disagree0

SuperRed

What do you back up your 'Fellaini overrated' statement with?

he is underrated, here is why;

73% of tackles won, 329 Made in total, 65 clearances also. All whilst playing in a more advanced roll. The guy is very versatile and talented technically, look past his hair and see the footballer mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Baines and Belgian Big Hair listed in starting 11 for Everton

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellaini was dangerous when played off the front man, Everton pumped the ball up to him and once it got to him he knew how to take it down, shield and pay it. I don't see us playing in that way so if he plays centrally he will have to show a far better range of passing and an increase in his finesse that he hasn't demonstrated before. Undoubtedly a presence but I fear playing deeper he could give a lot of fouls away in vital areas.
Of course he would fit the Glazer spending model

Agree0 Disagree0

SpartanRed I know what fellaini said about his preferred position and also what Moyes said too.I'm an Evertonian so why do you think I wouldn't know that?.Anyway whatever the pair of them say he is a much more effective player further up the field. He will probably play for you as a DM because that is where are short. As for being overrated no he's not, he's a very good technical player, not a yard dog as i've heard lots of UTD fans calling him.I think he'll be a good player for you wherever he's playing.
