{Ed002's Note - A representative from Chelsea did have a discussion with the permission of Santos. But it was nothing more than courtesy following on from the Washington DC meeting before Christmas and the Peru meeting in February. I don't know that Santos gave permission to anyone else to talk about the player to his representatives. It seems most unlikely that Manchester United did. City would have only dealt through a third party agent so it is possible. I have not heard anything related to this at all.}

@Just thought I would share what he said, If what he said was good knowledge then I can ask him questions in the future. You have good ties to Chelsea, he apparently has good ties with certain clubs, so I thought I would test him.

Ed, if you hear anything in the next couple of days to back this up, then I would appreciate you telling me. Do you know of any United interest, anything at all?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - Sure, if anything comes up. I suspect we are done with Neymar stories for a while now. I think it is unlikely that anyone would have approached his representatives without the club being asked. The Chelsea situation was really a courtesy meeting with the person who is probably the most powerful in terms of possible transfers associated with the club.}

A question for Ed002 if he is around? I have heard off of a friend of mine, he has a journalist friend of the family. I just want clarification of what he has told me is true. Here goes;

He said Chelsea, City & United officials all held talks with Neymar's & Santos' officials last week. He believes Chelsea are favourites. Can you confirm this? Because if it's true then he could be very useful to this site. Thanks Ed.

I think Diego can be brilliant, and would add a free-kick taker to the squad.

Although, I think he may have more OFF than ON games, and - therefore - could be a Liability. If we could get the Best out of him then it would be good. But, Ask yourself: Can you, personally, see Diego in a Manchester United shirt.?
Personally, I can't. If you can, fair enough!

Ps. To all stating we could buy Keisuke Honda and would make big marketing money from sales in Japan.

I don't think buying a Japanese player, to make money in Japan, is what Manchester United are planning on doing anytime soon, with the current situation in the country - would be disrespectful if you ask me.

What you think, Ed?

@Jimmy possum
For a start De gea is apparently nearly a done deal, and that's not just rumours Gilluem Balague knows more than me or you about whats goin on and hes convinced its nearly sorted, so buffon/ berbas out the window.

Coentrao- good player id be quite happy to have him but we have evra and fabio's learning fast so we don't really need him
Ramos- Again a good player but when rafaels coming on so well why basically restrict him, plus real madrid arent gonna sell theres and spains no 1 rb who can also play cb are they
Schweinstieger- Quality, absolute world class and id bite my arm off to get him, and i know we were linked but he signed a new contract and hes bayern through and through
Sneidjer- 1 of the 3 best ACM's in the world along with xavi and iniesta and i will admit momentum towards him coming to united is building

And before you go throwing codpieces about LOL i do actually agree with a lot of what your saying, yes rodwell henderson etc. are not good enough and i don't think they ever will be. and yes taarabt is looking good atmo. . . in the championship! its a big step up and whether he takes that step up i don't know but AOC is a few years younger and a bit raw but we all know how good fergie is at turning rough diamonds into world beaters so don't be surprised if we do get him

Gianluigi Buffon could be a cheaper alternative for Utd if they can't agree a deal for David DeGea, Atletico are believed to be haggling over the fee.

Dimitar Berbatov will be sold to Bayern Munchen if a new contract cannot be agreed. Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao will be signed as a replacement.

Wes Brown, Darron Gibson & Thomas Kuszczak are earmarked to leave, whilst Michael Owen & Owen Hargreaves willl be released.

@What pay £15m for a 20 year old, future world class keeper on wages around 50k a week or pay £15m for a 33 year old ex-world class keeper with a dodgy back on 100k a week? I know who I would sign.

"I have interesting input on this one. United are prepared to meet Athletico's valuation, its De Gea who is unsure whether a move to England and a big club will be right for him at this young age, because he has made some mistakes this year too. United will put up the money when De Gea is fully sure he does want to join. The fee will be more agreeable when he says he wants to leave.

REDFAITH"

@Hard to believe seems he wanted to go to United two years ago. Also his agent would not be working overtime for him if he didn't want to leave. I heard he wants the move, AM want to sell him, the only thing that is standing in the way of the deal is AM want the full £17.6m and United are not willing to pay that amount unless they are forced too. £15m is the price I keep hearing, people think this will be the agreed price.

I heard somewhere that United's last bid was £12m. But it's only rumours.

Man U have no chance of signing some of the names mentioned on this page from Dortmund. Kagawa, Subotic and especially Gotze and Sahin will definatley not leave the imminent German champions and next year Champions League participants. Why would they want to leave?

The only Dortmund player open to a move and the club are willing to sell for the right price would be Barrios.

Well, from what I am led to understand David knows and understands just how interested Manchester United are and is already excited about the Possibility of joining such a club.

I don't know where you got that from 'REDFAITH'. The lad knows just how good he could be and aspires to replace Iker as the Spanish Number 1 and knows by joining the club who currently have the keeper, who he claims, he bases his playing style on at. And knows Manchester United and a manager like Sir Alex Ferguson can help and guide him towards his objectives in his career.

{Ed002's Note - Don't believe what you read in sensationalist Spanish papers. If Kaka leaves Real Madrid I would expect a return to Italy with the Milan clubs favourites.}

@I agree, the feasibility of this happening is next to none, Kaka would want to play in a top league and no way could Santos afford to pay Kaka's salary.

But Real Madrid, Chelsea, AC Milan & Barcelona are all very interested in Neymar along with others of course! AC Milan are talking about instead of signing Ibrahimovic, signing Neymar instead. Could Neymar be excited about pairing up with his mate Robinho? Real Madrid are also wondering whether or not to send Adebayor back to City and instead set their sites on Neymar. Neymar has said he would love to play for Chelsea. This could be because they have made the biggest effort to sign him?

What ever happens Ed, this will be a interesting one for the summer won't it? Where do you think he will end up Ed?

Sydney!

{Ed002's Note - I suspect Chelsea.}

Ed, do you believe United and AM will agree a fee for De Gea or can you see United going elsewhere due to AM playing hardball? How much do you believe United are bidding? around £12m? £15m?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - I would be surprised if a deal can't be reached, they have Asenjo to replace him after all. I expect a deal around the 15m+ add ons region to be agreed. I believe the current negotiations started at less than 10m if my information is correct, a lot less.}

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - no they were unable to get any kind of permit for him to do anything with him. He was initially awarded one, Arsenal signed him, then the permit was withdrawn and they were blocked from getting another one. They were basically undone by the Govt messing them about.}

@It's a strange one Ed isn't it? I saw Wellington Silva play for the Arsenal U18's once as he only played for them once, it was against United and he scored. I thought he was an exceptional talent, but the Govt obviously disagreed.

Now I hear he is eating unhealthy, not training hard enough, partying most of the time. Surely he should be working hard to prove he is an exceptional talent so when Arsenal try to secure his work permit in the future, it will be approved?

Sydney! {Ed001's Note - he has got the talent and they were willing to wait for him to get his EU passport, shame the lad doesn't have the right attitude.}

United have signed 17y old Rafael Leao on loan until the 30th June to get experience with the U18s.

@He must be pretty decent as not even Arsenal done this for Wellington Silva. Maybe if Arsenal had done this and he proved himself in the U18's they may have got a work permit for him?

De Gea's agent has confirmed that United officials have held talks but a fee has not been agreed, his agent 'Rincon' has also confirmed that De Gea DOES have a 20m euro buy-out clause.

So we can say that United are haggling for him, we can get him for £17.5m (at the most) but it seems United are trying to get him for cheaper.

De gea, Rodwell, Sjneider and Goetze And maybe AOC in january! If he doesn't get sjneider he will go for Pastore in january!

{Ed002's Note - Why wait until January for Pastore?}

@I still am not convinced United will go for Sneijder, there is no way we will pay £30m for a 27 year old again, especially for a midfielder that has to do plenty of running during a game. If you look at players like Kaka & Ronaldinho, these players slowed down dramatically around 27. I cannot see United risking £30m for a 27 year old 15km a game player. However a part-ex deal involving Berbatov may happen. Unlikely though.

Sorry guys but I just cannot see it happening, that's my opinion any road. It doesn't mean it will not happen, just that I don't think it will happen. If there is a similar player around that is between 20-23 then they could be targeted but the only one I can think of is Pastore.

Can anyone think of any Sneidjer type players between 18-23? Just Pastore & Goetze for me.

"{Ed002's Note - Buffon is a fine keeper and contracted to 2013.}"

Ed, According to the Daily Mail Buffon is up for grabs on a free this year. .

"Arsenal are weighing up the option of signing Italy's veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, 33, who will be available on a free transfer from Juventus this summer."

{Ed002's Note - His agent's (Assist) list his contract as expiring June 30, 2013. They could of course have an error in their transcription. I used the details they provided to concur with the date.}

I think our summer signings will be de gea, goetze, benzema and sneijder because:
-de gea. Ballague is well regarded within spanish football and said we have activated his buy out clause which to me seems we're keen.
-goetze. We are constantly scouting dortmund and this guy has been exceptional. I believe fergie sees him as the one with the most potential out of their young midfield.
-benzema. Fergie is a long time admirer of his and I also believe that berbatov is on his way out so I think benzema will be his replacement.
-sneijder. I just have a sneaky feeling that this transfer will be done on deadline day. Not sure why just a hunch. But someone of his pedigree definitely needs to be brought in.

The manc tank

I hear De Gea is 90% done deal. Surprised me, thought we'd go for more experience.
Goetze has amazing potential but there's little chance of him leaving Dortmund at the mo. He will easily be pursuaded to stay for their CL campaign. Maybe one for the future.
I think Benzema has lost his chance of joining United. The form of Hernandez must have surprised even SAF. I think Berbatov will stay if he accepts a reduced contract. He offers a different option up front. I think his contract is up in 2012 so it's sign or sell time this summer. My guess is he stays unless Inter want him?
As for Sneidjer, he would be a great signing. He would cost £30m+ though. Love love a deadline dau signing.

I also believe Rodwell is 95% done and understand SAF is very keen on AOC, may be to soon for the lad.
