ed,
What is the latest with christian erikson. Do you see him moving in January or summer and if so where? Lfc seem to be heavily linked with him. Thank You. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan remain the most interested club. The Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen who remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain. Expect AC Milan and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United.}

So proud the of youth and fringies tonight. Chelsea played all of their best available players just like I expected them to and we were great. Shame for young Wootton who had a blinder until the 93rd minute and then it went pair-shaped for him. Keane was good, Tunners and Powell get a good run out.

We rested TEN players for the Arsenal game, Chelsea rested no one for the Swansea game. Heads held high lads.

Sydney!

Believable60 Unbelievable10

They did rest Cole and Ivanovic.

But yeah, one can hope lol.

Was Ivanovic not suspended?

Jomu83

Agree4 Disagree1

Could not agree more mate very proud of the effort shown tonight against Chelsea considering they played virtually there strongest side available. Nani was incredibly poor once again, the fact people tried to say Valencia was poor on sun is even more laughable when you compare it to that showing from Nani. Anyway onwards and upwards for sat
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeh i mean Wooton and Keane wont play any harder attackers than they did tonight. They handled them really well and it was just a lapse of concentration that messed things up not their own ability.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Well said Sydney! Everyone should be positive from this game, out youngsters did great!

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely it's time Anderson got a fair run in the team......a tonne better than carrick

Ivanovic was suspended and Cole was injured.

Agree1 Disagree0

Very dissappionted josh king was not in the squad, hope he moves on to get regular football he deserves. on a side note, pogba got MOTM for juve again.

Agree0 Disagree0

A loss is a loss mate. However.
If they win the cup they wil never been asked why they playef full squad against acadamy lads.
They never told us to put that defence.
If we managed to get away with this in the next round there are no big teams except arsenal.
Now u wil see chelsea giving game time to there youth nd fringe players till final. We could have done that also.
We saved player for who? Worst playing arsenal?
Not fully justified.
Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree2

Its strange, i'm sitting here very disappointed that our 2nd team didnt beat chelsea, i must be on something.

Thought the lads did very well tonight, probably the hardest cup tie you could face going to stamford bridge.

Unfortunlatey we couldnt see it through to the end after Wooten making two errors of judgement, which can happen but he will learn from it.
We did extremely well imo as by the 70min mark they had their entire first team on, Hazard,Oscar,Mata,Rameries, Cahill, Luiz against Wooten,Keane, Giggs, Fletcher (rb)Tunnicliffe and Powell so fair play to the guys.

I have to admit im not anderson's biggest fan and not sure if he will be at united in the future but he did play very well last night so maybe see what he can do in the weeks ahead.
Nani again blows hot and cold, he took his goal brilliantly, excellent pass and move, other times he back to his frustrating self - he has the skills to pay the bills but needs to bring it every game.

All in all i great match to watch and unfort that we couldnt hang on for a few more seconds.

Giants14

Agree0 Disagree0

I know... Pogba scored the winner and is starting to show his real class. He really could be world class in 3-4 years.

And then he will dominate the centre of the park.

Not for us, but for someone..

Agree0 Disagree0

One minor gripe Syd, Wooton didnt have a blinder at all, you're being kind on the lad as he lost us the game. He played badly, start to finish, which isn't really the end of the world - he was playing against the best strikers he's faced to date, with big stakes.

RED_SKY

Agree0 Disagree1

RED_SKY what gane did you watch? The two young CM's did extremely well, unfortunately by the 90th minute both were out on their feet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Those cb player so well all game except for that one mistake by wootoon the old players that didnt do any thing for me was turncliff (excuse the spell) he looked out of play from the moment he came on

Sweets

Agree1 Disagree0

Sorry Red_ Sky but Nani cost us the game. We were playing keep ball comfortably until Nani tried to beat some one lost it Chelsea counter attacked and got the penalty. Another 20 seconds of keep ball and we were through. The 2 CBs are only 20 and 21 and were exhausted, the ball was at the other end of the pitch till Nani messed up

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with REDSKY.
If you look at it again he made 3-4 really bad mistakes in the game and was struggling to cope.
To be fair he was up against quality players and he is only young and very inexperienced.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to be very proud of that performance overall. young lads done excellent and shows we have a bright future shame for wooton but no doubt will make him stronger player at united you learn from your mistakes not go in your shell fergie will tell him to keep improving

Agree0 Disagree0

The only good any defenders, of both sides done was in attack! A game of 9 goals where at least 5 were the result of glaring defensive errors - our first 2 goals, 2 of the 3 penalties, Keanes weak headed back pass, shows proof of a poor night for defencies, exciting stuff mind. I am happy that we took 3 points on Sunday and lost in this Micky Mouse cup though

nani has been the worst player on the pitch. welbeck comes a close second. but nani really has been woeful. even percy cant say no to that.
Trident!

Believable25 Unbelievable15

Nani wasn't great, I agree. Although he did score a brilliant goal. Welbeck however was not woeful. He put in an excellent shift. Played his heart out for the team, particularly helping out defensively.

Agree3 Disagree1

I really hope he goes asap. I cant see why Larnell hasn't been given a chance I think he would be more effective than Nani.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Oi bruv wah u on about welbeck had a good game, an nani finished his goal very well, im really gettin sick of all these negative u.t.d fans every game win lose or draw salmons like have gotta look for the negative all the lads played well in what was a great game priceless experience for powell, tunners, keane, an wooten who had a great game but made a mistake due to exhaustion an inexperience this will be a learning curve for him, really pleased pleased with the lads

marlow

Agree0 Disagree0

U simply have gruges for welback if u say he had a bad game. He simply worked very hard and continue..
Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

Welbeck gave the ball away as frequently as Nani. I know that Nani can be frustrating but at his best, he is brilliant!

Agree0 Disagree0

Listen pal welbeck done ok he was playing out wide and for a striker he done well he worked his socks off yeah he gave the ball away but hes a team player not a noodle head who couldnt beat an egg like nani... nani IS a waste of space he pops up with no motivation or work ethic to help the team he thinks hes ronnie he may have all the skills but so does my mate on my sunday team so good riddance....roll on janurary

Agree0 Disagree0

I maintain weldbeck was woeful. yes, he ran around all day and chased balls down but he was bad in possession and his link up play was also really bad. running aroung all day does not make it a good game for the lad. nani's performance cannot be measured by that goal. we all know he can do that. but otherwise he was running into his own team mates, giving the ball away and wasting good situations. at united, u cant do that, even if u can score good goals.
and for the guy who said that thing anout negative united fans, if a player has a bad game, he has a bad game. u dont become a good positive fan or a negative fan by telling the facts.

Trident!

Agree0 Disagree0

Only managed to catch the game from 55 mins and for what I saw Welbeck was terrible, he kept losing the ball trying to dribble out or passed to a Chelsea player. Now I'm a big fan of Welbecks but like anyone else, yes, he will have a bad game every once in a while. This one game does not mean he's not good enough, however, we say the same thing about Nani every single week. He really is not good enough, he has gone backwards if anything!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Thats what you get with Nani in the game he had moments of great skill and trickery, people need to stop moaning about how poor he is every game, Nani can cut teams to pieces like he did for the goal but with the excellents you get the fustrastion, valencia or young dont cut teams appart but are both more consistant. Just because at times nani is so good people expect him to be fantastic every time he touches the ball, people need to stop expecting him to play like Ronaldo. Nani can not beat his man every time look at other skillful players such as hazard and Lennon they both give the ball away but they don't get their fans moaning at them.

For those who shout loudly on this site that the likes of Tunnicliffe, Wootten (spelling) Powell, Bettner etc are ready, then I hope you watched the game and took note.

Not saying they won't be, but not yet.

Anderson excellent.

Please don't get me started on Nani, I'm off before I blow a fuse.

A

Believable31 Unbelievable1

Agree with most of that, but i thought powell did very well, his composure is excellent, he will be our steven gerrard.
Anderson should definitely be starting ahead of carrick or cleverly.

Agree1 Disagree0

And the one player whi was ready to step up that never got a chance scored a late winner for his new club tonight..... Pogba! Should of played him more and he might of stayed

Agree2 Disagree0

Ummm not sure about that, they went up against the league leaders and the champions of europe and they handled themselves very well. If they were to play with a few more experianced heads around them then i think that would only help bring them on more.

Keane and Wootton did very well against some of the best attacking players in the league, if they had Vidic along side them to guide them through then the little things they do though lack of experiance could be ironed out.

Tunnicliffe and Powell were able to compete with Chelsea's midfield and at times get the better of them.

These lads will only get better now with game time, they have the skills now they just need to learn how and when to use them, and you only get that from playing.

I have to say Michael Keane looks a lot more solid than Scott Wooton at the back.

Everyone keeps going on about wooton, keane was class for me the lads got a future

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree on this occasion but last time they both had a run out in the cup it was Wootton that had a better game. both are going to be very good but are still developing their game.

Agree0 Disagree0

Wootton is not good at defending crosses, keane much more composed even though younger. shahram

When I looked at the teams being put out tonight I thought Chelsea 4 - 1 United or maybe worse but I have to say I think we have been very unlucky this game and actually deserved the win...... We should of to be honest they had some 5 minutes added from nowhere and two soft penalties from rash challenges and a sitter offered to them from a shocking header back to the goalie. But come one nobody expected us to actually put up a fight surely with squads played tonight.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

31 Oct 2012 21:43:15
Anderson has to play more judging on this performance! can take on a man and power through midfeild and 3 assists !

Fergie playing youth win or lose after et i am a happy man utd fan

Big V

Believable32 Unbelievable2

The problem with Anderson isn´t that he does not have enough quality. He just can´t play for 90 minutes. After 60 minutes he´s just dead and can´t run anymore.

He needs to improve his fitness to ever be a mainstay in our team.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Oct 2012 21:40:42
Ramires was very clever he knew Wooton was gonna try and stop him but he pulled out from the shot and bumped backwards into Wooton playing for the foul and I dont blame him but surely the time was up?

Believable12 Unbelievable2

Fergie time?!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Wotoon had a game he would like to forget. The 3rd,4th goal and even the 5th goal as he was undressed by Hazzard.

I am not one to say told you so but posted after having watched him against nc in the last round that he is not going to be our future cb. Keane a better prospect.

All in all our second string scored 4 goals against a first team chelsea side and should have won. i am proud to be united fan.

Shahram

Agree1 Disagree0

Come on sharam, hazard would undress most defenders in the premier league and wooton is still very young. yes he wont be our future cb but he isnt that bad.

Aaronaldo7

Agree0 Disagree0

Agre Aaronaldo. I always look at our team in terms of champions league caliber winning team and who is good enough. Wotton might very well turn out to be a squad player.

I know everyone has differing opinions but for us to be the greatest club n the world we have to win the CL many more times and players that enable us to do that are not necessarily in our youth ranks.

Shahram

Agree0 Disagree0

Sharam please wait 3-4 years and the best of our youth academy will be ready and meanwhile support the current set.

j know a lot of people were unhappy about giggs being picked but i think he played well gave us that bit of experience in the middle.

Nani - RVP - Rooney in front and the normal back 5......

Oxred

Nani shouldnt even be warming our bench after tonight. Swap him for kagawa and your right with the team.

We had one match when ref made a couple of bad decisions and all of a sudden the whole world is up in arms and Chelsea accusing ref of racism and all other fans accusing refs of being biased towards us.
They forgot drogba was two yards offside when the won at ot and won the league. They forgot the ridiculous pen Newcastle got last year which was never a pen, and ended up costing us the league. They forgot the ridiculous decisions martin Atkinson gave over the years during Chelsea matches (23 games refereeing Chelsea and they've won them all!). They forgot Jamie carragher slicing nani's leg in half and not even getting booked for it.
So to all other fans stop moaning, you're boring us to death.
NoMidfield

Believable30 Unbelievable1

The refs aren't biased just incompetent, everybody conveniently forgets when a refs bad decision gives them a win. This hole Chelsea thing is really ugly, they better be a 100 % sure that the ref made those alleged racial slurs. Remember when they accused Poll of saying derogatory comments about Terry but then they retracted. I can't stand Chelsea as that they think they are the only ones who get a bad call and there reaction is always over the top.

Agree1 Disagree0

Was it a bad decision in my opinion yes evans fouled torres but his dive was over the top trying to influence the ref in my opinion both players should have been booked

Agree1 Disagree1

Torres should have been sent off in the first half anyway for that karate kick on Evans. He got off lightly overall.

Dan

Agree2 Disagree1

Both decisions were correct Ivanovic was last man and Torres was booked for diving. If he hadn't of made a meal of Evans challenge he wouldn't have got the 2nd yellow.

Agree1 Disagree0

Yep and every1 forgets the 2 stone wall pens we had in the game turned down....

Medias in Serbia are reporting that SAF has prepared to bring in Neven Subotic from Dortmund in January. The key role in transfer should play Vidic as a countryman.

Ed002; reading reports from bild (who are usually fairly reliable) that we are interested in Lars Bender with a potential move in January an option. Any idea if there is truth behind this and whether it could realistically happen?

Also, is there a chance we'll move for a CB in the January window?

Thanks,

rpc {Ed002's Note - Lars Bender has been a player watched by Arsenal for some time. I understand that he has also been looked at by Manchester United, Spurs and Fiorentina. A move in January seems unlikely.

As for a centre back, I don't know if one is being sought in January.}

Believable0 Unbelievable2

Usually if any stories say that a move in January is likely then chances are the story is rubbish. Very rare these past half a dozen years that we make a big signing halfway through the season.

just seeing the reading v fulham highlights from the weekend and its made me think. Seeing how well Berbatov can actually perform when given game time had me thinking he would've linked up well with RVP. We made a loss from selling him for so little imo.
just a thought & opinion, let me know what you think.

cheeRsMUFC.

Believable19 Unbelievable15

He just didnt suit our style of play . we play much quicker than berba likes too. plus doesnt every player have an excellent game from time to time, consistancy is another matter.

Agree1 Disagree0

I thought 4m at the time was the bargin of the season, there's no doubt berbatov is a great player unfortunlately he just didnt fit in at United, the problem is united needed to sell and did that without much argument over the figure - Fulham def did get a steal.

Giants14

Agree1 Disagree0

And if he had played like that for us then he would be a loss. It's like saying we should have kept forlan because he has done well since.

Berbatov didn't fit our style of play and for the majority of last season when he did get a chance he strolled around like he couldn't be bothered. Good on him that he has found a club he can be bothered to make an effort for, maybe he just wanted to feel wanted but that was never going to happen the way he played at united.

Hope he has a good end to his career.

GDS

Agree2 Disagree0

Berbatov is an excellent player, but I don't think that him and RVP would have given us the flexibility that Wayne/RVP/ and Danny or Kagawa gives us.I think 4m was an absolute steal by Fulham.
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad to get him off the wagebook really. Didn't suit what we needed at all andf other than one seaosn with us he has never been prolific in the premier league. Even with Tottenham most of his goals were in the cups, generally against weaker teams

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah completely agree, whenever he played regularly for us he showed us his footballing genius, a link up with RVP would have been nice to try, however in reallity who would we have sold instead as we clearly had and abundance in riches in that posistion once we had signed RVP.
