what about adam maher 7m and shinji kagawa 13
20m 2 great players

Believable14 Unbelievable13

First time heard the name Adam Maher, watched on YTube...he looks promising, definitely!

Agree0 Disagree0

Kagawa is going to cost 16 - 18m mate.
Jamesmack8

Agree0 Disagree0

Its 18m with clauses winning trophies appearances etc its 13m initially mate

Agree0 Disagree0

Seeing as I follow football closely and have never heard of Adam Maher, I'd say no.

How can Pogba as reported have a medical and sign contract
Before the 1st of July? Is it more b******t?

Believable26 Unbelievable8

He will be a free agent before then... He can do what he wants

fearny

Agree0 Disagree0

You have a point, he can't be in Italy to sign a contract as he's still under contract with United. Anyone know what date it finishes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares sooner he's gone and spends his hard earned wage shopping on the weekends in Turin the better , we won't hear his name mentioned again another player gone to waste chasing miney

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he can have a medical and sign but he cannot officially join juventus until 1st july (eds can you confirm this). I hope the story is untrue and pogba stays though. Bookedredmole {Ed004's Note - I am not sure...}

Agree0 Disagree0

Teams are allowed to approach and confirm signing 6 MONTHS before a contract expires but the player can only move in a window but there is nothing stopping them training with their new club.

justpij

Agree0 Disagree0

If he does sign for Juve with all the problems currently surrounding Italian football, he must be the most short sighted, dumbest balloon ever! Along with the greediest fof all ootball agents.

if nani were to be sold who would be the likeliest replacement?
Gaitan
Rodriguez
anyone else likely ??

Believable15 Unbelievable6

D. Costa?

Agree0 Disagree0

If saf is sure he can turn rodriguez into a player like ronaldo then id prefer rodriguez

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd love robben or frank ribery!Affellay would be a great buy aswell I reckon, watched him v northern Ireland he put in a great performance

Super Red

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't think of anything worse than watching robben or ribery rolling round screaming in agony every 5 minutes wearing a man utd shirt

Agree0 Disagree0

Hazard, Lavezzi.....oh these are already taken. IF and thats a big IF nani was sold rodriguez and gaitan would be poor replacement. I cant think of a player with nani's ability that we realistically stand a chance of getting.
If we sell Nani, the only thing i see happening is united being linked with alot of top players and failing sign any of them. We will then be told we tried very hard, we wont be held at ransom, no value in the market, right player wasnt available e.t.c. The funds from the sale of nani will then go towards buying back more bonds.
And without a proper replacement, we will probably finish 3rd. does anyone remember how we struggled with unlocking defences that 'park the bus'? Valencia is pretty useless when he has no space to run into.

Millz

Agree0 Disagree0

Nani is a wanabe. talks big plays poor. 3 decent games a season and the rest hes a no show, reminds me a bit of bendtner he does that alot.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would we need to replace someone who hasn't performed on a cosistant level since he has been at United?
he has had enough chances, let him go and let's get someone in that will perform

melwing28 {Ed004's Note - Are you for real? So we are not going to replace the 10 + goals and 10 + assists he has contributed for the past two seasons running?}

Agree0 Disagree0

There are plenty of players that can stump up 10 goals and 10 assits, its nothing to shout about hes no ronaldo. get rid and get somebody thats hungry and not deluded

Agree0 Disagree0

I reli dont know what sum of u are reli watching you all keep saying dat nani isnt consistent enough when he is hardly getting the chance to prove you all wrong consistency and good form are acquire when u play week by week and nani reli isnt getting that chance and if you also relize that each time he gets dat chance he always scores a goal are gets an assit.

With regards to nick powell, ive heard 3 different things about his position. Defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, and striker. Which one is he most comfortable/best at? {Ed007's Note - His best position is as an AM bit he can play upfront as well.}

Believable19 Unbelievable2

Listening to the Press Pass on Talksh1t tonight they were talking about him as being a DM. {Ed007's Note - What does that tell you about them then? As I have said before, I can only show you the door. You're the one that has to walk through it.}

Nick Powell signing wrapped up apparently.

Great prospect for the future.

Believable40 Unbelievable16

At least the reserves have a replacement for will Keane then

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but only if he doesn't sit in reserves for 3 years benefitting from superior training only to leave through lack of opportunities as does seem to be a worrying trend

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not worrying at all, all the players who have left to play more often hardly turn into superstars do they, if they're good enough they'll get picked every week

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

And why are we not trying to sign 18 year old kids that can play in our 1st team now?

Italian source Il Sussidiario suggests that Man United are ready to use winger Nani as bait to help land Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio.

Believable13 Unbelievable36

Pfft... Marchisio is worth no where no the amount Nani is. I'd want £15m plus Marchisio for Nani.

Agree0 Disagree0

That would be a rubbish deal, we could get £30 million for Nani, so that would mean rating Marchisio who is average at over £30 million.

RedDevil19

Keep your eye out for a bid for marek hamsik. This will only happen if modric deal falls through.

Believable13 Unbelievable33

There's no way in the world we'll buy a modric or anyone else in his price range unless we sell quality players to fund them, I really don't want to see nani leave but I think he will be cashed in on and replaced with a cheaper player

Agree0 Disagree0

I swear he just signed a new contract and has a 100 million buy out clause or something ridiculous.

No way in the world? Why don't you leave a name so when you do you can come back and apologise for talking rubbish?

GDS

Sorry forgot to leave a name as you said , stop dreaming about a fantasy team a live in the real world where utd no longer spend big money on proven players

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

I work at OT and ive heard alot of names been thrown about. Im not 'in the know' as the only people who really know who were looking at are sir alex, gill, and a few of the scouts. So before you start jumping all over me remember this is a rumours site.

Tomr

Agree0 Disagree0

100 million euro buy-out clause in his contract. Not going to happen I'm afraid.

Agree0 Disagree0

Didn't Hulk have a similar buy-out clause at Porto? Buy-out clauses don't mean the market price is fixed and they're hardly ever met when they're as rediculously high as this one. Not sure why people get so hung up on buy-out clauses

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I read Hamsik signed a new contract only months ago (with thi sbig buy out clause) and wanted to stay in Italy for the forseeable future so dont see this happening. For all the hype on the player I have never seen him excel in a single match either.

Was speaking to an ex United player last night in Knutsford, who still works for the club - he had had a few beers mind, but he was saying that Kagawa will be signed, there is serious interest in Leighton Baines, Tiote & Modric, The most interesting comment he made was that United are also looking in to the possible wage demands of Ronaldinho & finally he stated that Nick Powell will arrive from Crewe Alex but will be loaned out to Bolton next season.

Dustbin

So not just what the papers are saying this morning no?

I don't feel tiotes passing is good enough for the more fluid style of football Fergie seems to want to play, I do think that Modric would be a good addition though, I'd much rather we went for Modric than Sneijder anyday!
T14

Pardoe

Complete load of rubbish. I played in a testimonial last year against Man Utd old boys, Irwin, Blackmore, Stapelton, Ritchie, Duxbury etc. Asked Irwin at the meal after about Sneider signing, he replied he hopes so but knows nothing, he knows when there announced same as everybody else.
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

If you had read the papers this morning, there is an article from Sir Alex crying about the high prices they were looking for players he had inquired about and they were Baines, Modric and Tiote so i I bet your United player is Mr Dail Mail

Ronaldinho was quoted on a brazilian website as being very interested in coming to manchester and lets face it he's world class - a mouth watering prospect him up front with berbatov next year {Ed007's Note - Mouthwatering to the point he could eat an apple through a letterbox!}

United need at least 2 midfielders maybe Modric (proven) in premier and dembele the fulham lad with Vidic back and Fletcher and Young Jones and Smalling settled number 20 will be ours assuming we already got Kagwa

Believable11 Unbelievable24

Modric isn't proven in premier league,he hasn't set the world a light and he ain't world class.he plays for Spurs,he would find it extremely difficult to get into any of the top sides in the world

Agree0 Disagree0

No Name,

He plays for Spurs so he can't possibly be world class. Chelsea wanted him last summer for a long of money, if we could get him for 25-30 million he would be a super signing, better than anything we have at the moment in his position.

People complain the squad isn't good enough and we need players and when we are linked with players who would massively improve us they moan and say not good enough! It is ridiculous. Some will never be happy.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

Gds,
Modric for me is another Veron, actualy Veron was better in his prime.he may or may not improve our squad!Just because Chelsea wanted him for a high price, doesn't mean hes worth that or he'd suit our style of play!hes no where near being worth 25-30m!hes unproven!he doesn't even stand
out at Spurs!he would make very little difference to what we already have!hes no better than carrick, the two of them have no strenght no pace,no instinct for assists or goals.they make look different on the ball but they are so similer in so many ways!Modric moves the ball on and we have that already.hes nothing special!he would be an extremely bad buy!dont need modric!he doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body, can't tackle, can't defend, can't go past players,he has no speed or pace,no power or strenght, doesn't score enough
goals, doesn't have enough assists.and you think we should pay 25-30m!will ya wake up man!iniesta, zavi, ozil, scholes sneijder.these are all proven world class players.players that are caplible of running a game, who have goals in them and assists!modric is not in there mould!hey ain't good enough to lace they're boots.

Agree0 Disagree0

Noname, you can't see the woods for the trees!

Modric would be a direct replacement for Scholes' role this season and he is perfect for that role. Scholes wasnt there to tackle or to score prolifically he was there to control and dictate possession and link the defence with the midfield

If you actually watched Modric play closely I'm sure you could see he is great at this role. If you just watch him on MOTD and look at stats or play fantasy footaball then I can see how you would be mistaken!

I'm tired of people saying Modric is cr*p because he can't tackle or because he doesn't score 20+ goals. This is not his game - he is the Xavi or Scholes in a team. And I'm sure if he did play with the likes of Kagawa, Rooney, Valencia, Nani he would get at least 15-20 goals/assists anyway, as well as controlling our tempo and possession (his role)

The only problem with Modric is his price tag IMO. I will admit that. If we could get him for £25-30m I'd be very tempted

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Both Sneijder and Modric had 4 goals and 5 assists so your talking rubbish. I know Modric played more games but that just means Sneijder is more injury prone. Modric is proven class in the premier league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agrees with Gav.....modric does keep the ball and control/link the Defence with the midfield but only problem i have is he is not the best of winning back possesion or tackling why not buy javi martinez/M'villa provides what modric has...younger and bring other things on the table

RN
GGMU

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav,
I take your point but modric could never be as good as scholes,he's not got that footballing brain.modric is far too slow in feet and in mind also comparing him to xavi whom Is an absolute genius at assists.and his footballing brain is magnificent.I've watched modric at old Trafford and at white hart lane.he is just to inconsistant, very slow
And goes out of games an awful lot.when he's good he's just just good but in only in fits n starts, he gets swollowed up in the big
games.the problem I have is that I'm sick of people coming on here n saying he's proven in the premier league, but, what has he proven?and I'm sick of people saying he's a world class player!the way people talk bout him here you would think he's ronaldhino in his prime or something!hes just an average over priced player!your saying he's as good as xavi n scholes but modric wouldnt get his game for barca in a million years, but I know scholes would!modric is ment to be in his prime and he is still nowhere near as good as scholes on the verge of his retirement,so there's no comparison.im telling you now Modric would be a huge flop at utd..
But besides the point we don't need him, when we have kagawa,we need a tough tackling midfielder who can break down opposition and play ball too..

Agree0 Disagree0

In the last 3 seasons,

Modric - 12 goals 16 assists

Sneijder - 19 goals 32 assists

Don't ever try to compare modric with Sneijder again!modric isn't good enough to lace his boots..

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric plays in a different position to Sneijder. Modric sits in front of the defenders and Sneijder sits behind the striker. So clearly Sneijder would get more assists and goals. In fact I am rather impressed with Modric's stats considering he plays in a deeper position to Sneijder.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Strootman or martinez would be better buys for me

sparkyred

EXACTLY Syd!

How can people not see they play in a different position! LOL, shows some peopls don't actually watch these players and rely on stats...as an AM or SS I would expect Sneijder to get far more assists/goals than Modric who plays CM)...just like I'd expect a striker to score more tha a winger...not rocket science!

I certainly do take people's points on Martinez and Strrotman though - they would clearly both add some steel on top of helping to control possession

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric would be o.k for 20m. 30m+ is ridiculous for a player who doesnt contribute anywhere near enough goals or assists. Scholes plays in a deeper role too but still contributes in terms of goals.
I would rather have dembele than modric. we already have a player who plays a simillar role to modric and thats carrick.

One player I havent heard anybody mention on here. I am sure due to his move last season to France he is on a very high wage with the fee paid. Not seen any of his games for the club but has from what I have seen got very bad press and had a very poor season there but from what I saw of him in Italy is super talented and just the kind of player we could do with, Javier Pastore. Tactically needs a lot of work on, especiallyu tracking back, and of course unproven in the premiership (cue another Veron responses) but £20-25m an expensive gamble but possibly a real number 7 in the making, I would take him over Modric and I do rate Modric unlike many very surprisingly on here. Ferguson was interested in the player before he moved to Italy as well. Anybody seen much of his poor season in PSG, thoughts?
Invisible Stuey

Believable4 Unbelievable27

Pastore is on around £100k a week after tax. Which means we would have to pay £200k a week just to equal his PSG wage. Good player, but not available either I would imagine.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought he had a pretty decent first season?

Agree0 Disagree0

If true isnt viable and a shame that Sydney. Did he have a pretty good first season? I havent seen a PSG game but read he started off well and then got voted the worst signing or over rated player or something like that in some big fans poll and also that rumoured he isnt settled well there. Like I said a big gamble, and as Sydney said, perhaps not even abailable but I'd love him at our club, been my muppet signing ever since we were linked with him before he went to Italy as watched him quite a lot until he went to France and genuinely think he has the potential to be one of the best players in the world.

According to the sun, we will have to pay 72m for modric, baines and tiote.
I would prefer felliani to tiote. Any news on modric coming to us ed?
Baines said he will decid future after euros {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Modric - at the right price.}

Believable5 Unbelievable18

Modric ... so overpriced for a player who hasnt stood out at all.
We are looking for a midfielder whos got goals and the creative side to provide the assists.
His stats for last season dont lie
38 games in all comps
5 goals
6 assists

now that to me isnt a £30mil player
Hallis

Agree0 Disagree0

Ive been shouting for Felliani for a long time now.. Think he would be great in our cm but can also play up front, behind the striker. Good passer, box to box and scores goals. Exactly what we need.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fellani or tiote will never play for utd , theyre nowhere near good enough wouldn't improve the team in any way

Dustbin

Agree0 Disagree0

Saw this myself this morning , so if the 30m on modric is true that would mean 21m on baines and tiote each or again if it's to to be believed in the rags 30m on modric 12M on baines and 30m on tiote SURLEY NOT !

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric is world class! He starts the moves off, jus because he doesn't get the assist or the goal doesn't mean he has nothing to do with it. Him and Kagawa would b great

Big Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

I would love Fellaini or Witsel to join us. We inquired about Witsel last rear apparently and were quoted 25m. Fellaini would be 20 - 25m as well. they are both around 24 and are excellent in attack, or defense, If we are going for players on the cheap, Then Marvin Martin will only cost 10 - 15m and M"villa 16-20m. That's 26-35m for two top midfielders. Or Martin and M'Vila for the price of Modric. Add Cissoko or Izzaugari (spelling) and we could get an attacking midfielder, a defensive midfielder and a left back for around 40 -45m along with Kagawa that's 4 top players for 57m upfront. We should get 20m from sales. I must add though that if the money is there my first choices would be Tiote, Kagawa, Fellaini and Alba but they'll cost 65-70 million
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric is diabolical material,he ain't any better than what we already have!id go bananas if we pay 10m for him.he ain't world class and he hasn't proved nothing in the premier league.he hasn't done nothing in the champions league,or the international stage.theres much better players out there with pace, power assists and goals in them.for me modric is weak.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, you have said before that you think Modric is worth around £25m (In your opinion), do you know what sort of price United and Spurs are valuing him at? I know you do not usually like to answer these types of questions so you are free to bin this post. Just wanted to know how far apart they are each valuing him at.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Sorry Syd I don't. I would expect Spurs will seek over £30M but the price I gave seems fair.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people on here who don't rate modric seriously need to properly watch the guy play live, not just on TV. He's a quality player and just what we need. I think at £25 million he would be a great buy. People think because he doesn't beat 4 defenders and put the ball in the top corner he cant be a good player!
Andy B

Agree0 Disagree0

Bic mac,
Anyone can start off a move.my granny could do it.doesnt make anyone and definitely modric world class player.modric hasn't even proved he's a top player in the premiership never mind the world.so tell me how he's world class?a world class player, does it for a top team in a top league aiming to win the league, and the champions league, and he also proves he can do it on the international level.modric hasn't done any of these.modric has no pace,no strength, doesnt have the instinct for goals or assists,he can't go passed players.he hasn't an ounce of aggression in his body!believe me he's weak,he doesn't shine!if there's anybody who can end up doing what Veron did with us modric would do the same if not worse.if Fergie pays anywhere near 15m for him,he's lost his mind!

Agree0 Disagree0

So a top player does it on international scene? well wot about messi then!! best player in the world but not so good for argentina

Agree0 Disagree0

Well Messi plays for one of the best international teams on the planet!did you see him play the other night, tell me he wasnt magnificent!messis average performances are still brilliant in comparison even to world class players!

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric is a very good , well accomplished cm in the epl, personallyif welcome him into the utd side! Hes good on the ball, good vision and keeps possession well, much like our current cm, and I can see him slotting in alongside carrick easily!

My front 6-

Valencia carrick modric Young

Kagawa

Rooney

Rd17

Agree0 Disagree0

Rd17,
modric slotting in beside carrick is a nightmare!the two of them are very similer players.neither one of those players are anything special!well accomplished?so what has he accomplished?you need a creative player in front of your holding mf,not two!modric isn't creative enough!his vision is short sighted!i would be sick of we got him!not worth the money Spurs want for him!extremely overrated!

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick and Modric would be a very good pairing that would complement each other perfectly. Two box2box midfielders with Kagawa, Rooney, Valencia and Young ahead of them is pretty exciting IMO. Perhaps £25m plus Ferdinand would be a good move and bring in Benatia. No name may be sick if we bought Modric, but how would he feel if we couldn't get anyone other than Modric?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I honestly feel that most of the Modric-slaters only watch Spurs on MOTD and don't watch him closely live

Big Mac summed him up well. Modric starts off the moves like Scoles or Xavi do...are they crap?

Citing Modric's goals/assists stats are pointless as he is not a winger, AM or Striker so goals and direct assists are not his priority

Scholes was one of our best players since Christmas, how many goals and assists did he get? And how many tackles did he make? Modric would be replacing Scholes

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

I see modric as a very similar player to how scholes has been in the latter years of his career, I see him and modric both as deep lying playmakers to an extent, creatively helped by the (probable) addition of kagawa I think that is a very strong front six
Rd17

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Syd,

Carrick & Modric would work just fine in CM. A more athletic version of Carrick & Scholes from this year. Of course the dream would be Martinez & Modric with Kagawa sat in front : ) I have secretly been praying for those 3 in midfield for some months!

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Modric isnt anywhere near as good as scholes or xavi !i just don't feel modric is worth the money either!take as a squad play for around 15m but then he'd just get in the way of better players out there!ya c I don't think carrick should play week in week out either!any other top European sides would walk all over us if we had Carrick n modric in cm.could you imagine those two trying to defend against them.absolute joke.why do you think fergie puts park in midfield against the top sides because he gets stuck in,and try's his heart out to win the ball.carrick or modric simply can't do that!modric isn't a player we need especially for 25 to 30m!

Agree0 Disagree0

If we buy modric then we would need a midfield enforcer to play along side him like martinez or strootman and that aint gonna happen we will only buy one midfielder as we will already have bought kagawa !
modric and carrick would be good if we were controlling a game but against the likes of barcelona/madrid they would get tore apart. too lightweight need a robbo or keano type player.

sparkyred

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav,Sydney,
Just listen to Sparkyred!modric and carrick together would be a crime!we don't need modric,we need a roy keane type player!mvilla would be a good addition!if there's any opposing midfielder we should get is Sneijder!and please don't come on and say oh he plays in behind the striker!yes he can play there but he didn't always!he play in scholes position aswell!he can do both!

SuperRed

Agree0 Disagree0

Noname - I never said he is as good as Xavi or Scholes! I'm saying they all play the same position/role in the team. Many on this site seem to be slating Modric for not getting goals/assists but that is not his priority

Supered - if Carrick/Scholes was our best partnership in CM last year how would Carrick/Modric be a crime? Very similar I would say but at least Modric has more energy these days and can play 90mins more often. I would love to get a M'Villa type player too and would be happy for him to partner Carrick (who could do the playmaker role) in CM. That is another option. But I certainly wouldnt buy Sneijder to play in a 2 man midfield in the PL, just my opinion

Gav

It seems a lot of people don't seem to know whats going on in Italy it has nothing to do with bribery and nothing to do with juventus as a club it's all to do with the lower divisions in Italy

And the juve manger

What do you mean its just the lower leagues? Wasn't one of the players arrested the captain of Lazio, and wasn't he in the Italy squad? (please correct me if im wrong) so not just the lower leagues! And if he was then every game which he was involved in will be scrutinised, and also i heard some talk of referees being involved (nothing official though), the whole of italian football is under investigation so even if clubs are not implicated they will be effected.

SAF has gone on his annual holiday, it's in the papers before you ask, I'm not claiming to know saf personally, so it's likely that any new stories or rumours are false.

Believable17 Unbelievable1

Why? doesn't Sir Alex have a mobile phone to keep in touch with negotiations whilst on holiday?

Fergie doesn't need to be there holding David Gills hand. We signed Jones and Young when Sir Alex was in France. By the way he goes there every year around the same time so it's no suprise.

U wer d 1 who was so sure of sneijder signin werent u United Till I Die 1987?

At the moment kagawa would not fit the criteria to obtain a work permit because he has only played 11 out of 16 matches to fit the requirement, which is 68.75% or 6.25% short of reaching the 75% threshold set bt the United Kingdom and the football Association. Shinji Kagawa is in Japan now getting ready to play three FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, which will be completed by 12th June 2012. If Manchester United wait until these fixtures have been played, Kagawa would have played 14 out of 19 matches that fit the requirements, the percentage will be 73.7% which will only be 1.3% short of the requirement.
he could appeal this as he was injured for 6 months and if that never worked united could appeal as an exceptional talent.
it shouldnt be an issue

What Sydney said, there is no issue about a work permit. Most probably newspaper BS :-)

UTID are you implying that you are ITK regards this transfer then? If so, when do you expect it to be completed?

Thanks,
