Green and Gold until the club gets sold?

Cooper

Believable19 Unbelievable10

This is the problem - if we want the Glazers out then the Green & Gold campaign cant just run suddenly be rejuvinated every time the going gets tough. Anyway it didnt bother them the first time round so dont see why they would pay any attention the second time round. Plus until Fergie stops giving it the 'no value' line can we really be 100% sure that the Glazers dont have the transfer funds - the debt issue is seperate but lets be honest a couple of good signings and people would not really be concerned about how the debt is structured. Fickle?

Has anyone else noticed that we don't seem to have any players that can put a decent ball into the box? For example, against Blackburn last week we had 17 yes SEVENTEEN corners, yet didn't come close to scoring any! I really think we need a dead ball specialist, or at least a left footed player than can cross a football.

UNITED_LEGENDS

Believable25 Unbelievable5

Giggs is still good at that

Agree4 Disagree11

Giggs is terrible at it.never beats the first man with corners etc. He may be a legend but hes not beyond criticism.to be honest his delivery has never been too gud from setpieces

Agree8 Disagree2

Our corners never beat the first man, nani takes them all. specially against blackburn.. maybe its time to change the corner taker as they very rarely get to the edge of 6 yard box never mind arrive in there

Javi martinez needs to be signed immediately....end off

Robbo

Believable27 Unbelievable6

Need more than one player..

Agree25 Disagree3

Fergie will just come with 'no value in the market'. Bebe was such good value.

Agree24 Disagree6

Can people please stop ending their sentences with End off?

What you really mean is end of, as in end of discussion, which in itself is pointless in the context of a discussion board.

Please people, of and off are two different word with different meanings.

I'm not a grammatical mastermind myself but that really grates my gears.

Thanks,

Pritpal

Agree19 Disagree5

* words not word

it's a plural

two different word?

you mean words

just sayin

Agree11 Disagree2

It's GRIND my gears. End off. ;)

Agree8 Disagree3

Yes, that was a typo. End off is not a typo, it's misuse of the English language.

Grate is also an acceptable term when referring to gears, metaphorical or otherwise.

Not having a go at anyone but it just had to be said.

Also, when starting what you hope to be a discussion, saying "end of" makes no sense at all.

End of lessons for today.

BTW, I'm not one of those picky people who always corrects people. It's just that people need to understand that "end off" is meaningless and I've been reading it so many times on so many forums that it seems to be all too common.

Pritpal {Ed007's Note - Gee Pritpal. I'd advise you don't watch the news mate. I'd fear for your own safety :-)

Agree4 Disagree0

Totally agree with you Pritpal. End-off proponents and no-namers should be whipped.

I personally think we need to bring in alex and drogba from chelsea, they both want to leave and will give us good resources.
I also feel we should try and get kaka and another attacking midfield from somewhere, maybe even look at serie A or Liga BBVA.
I also feel we need a defensive midfielder to sure us up for example tiote.

Who is this sticking plaster bloke fergie talks about bringing in better be good after that carp

Believable15 Unbelievable3

04 Jan 2012 21:50:53
Rooney last year said that man utd didnt match his ambition, but Fergie lied and told him things would get better, I take it when he said that he didn't mention a midfield of Giggs and Park. welcome to the dark ages no more trophies til Fergie goes.

Believable19 Unbelievable26

Ha. You really cannot make this up.
On another note, I have got a new batch of hair dyers coming.in, seems fergie`s is broken.

History will always only have one meaning, stuff that happened in the past

Agree13 Disagree4

Totally agree. that's why the rooney bustup at the beginning of the window.

Agree12 Disagree4

Why are we not buying anyone in midfield!! They were useless tonight...

Agree17 Disagree5

Completely agree, worst I've seen in twenty years

Agree19 Disagree4

Totally agree, need to get rid of Nani(can't cross the ball or take a corner, Carrick, Park, Evra(not good enough anymore), Rio, can't rely on Giggs for ever, disgraceful that one of the worlds best teams couldn't replace 1 creative midfielder, true sign the funds are no longer there, really hate to say it, but City are going to cruise to this title. sorry

Agree17 Disagree7

Makes me so angry when idiots like you shout for fergie out after a couple of losses, same happened in 2005 then two years later we had probably the best team we've ever had! Have some faith in fergie!

Agree14 Disagree11

No way fergi will get us back on track but he has to buy a top quality mid

Agree15 Disagree4

Rooney is part of the problem. Did not try a leg tonight. We need (in priority order) centre half, centre mid, centre forward, left winger, left back , right back.

The centre half could be shrt term, possobly Samba or even Cahill.

If Rooney wants to go then he should be let go if someone pays silly money (anything over £45m).

The team for rest of season should be:
De Gea
Rafa, Smalling, Centre Half, Evra
Valencia, Jones, Centre Mid, Nani
Rooney, Welbeck

In summer we need to sell/release;
Fabio, Evans, Ferdinand, Evra, Gibson, Anderson, Young, Berbatov and Owen.

I would bring in:
Samba, Alba, Martinez, Rodwell, Shaqiri, Hazard and another if Rooney goes, possibly Torres.

Agree9 Disagree17

Welbeck no way,not good enough, neither is chicarito,we need a new strikermaswell

Agree8 Disagree12

Well done newcastle

Agree16 Disagree2

Never heard so much rubbish in my life, I'm a united fan and I agree we were poor, but come on.... Trust that fergie knows. 1 or 2 more players are required but nothing as radical as your knee-jerk reactions.

Olly

Agree15 Disagree9

Wow. What an utter load of nonsense. We were poor tonight, there is no denying that. But come on, we haven't exactly had it easy lately and were the victims of two tremendous goals and one awful mistake.
The fact remains that we have still accumulated more points than last season and are still going to be fighting for the title come the end of the season.
We do need players and Ferguson clearly looked for the right player in the summer, but reasons we are all aware of, it didnt happen.
The moment City start competing, the majority are decalring the cast majority of our team as little more than wastes of space.
Once we get our squad back in shape, I can see us going on a great run of form and still thoroughly expect us to be Champions come the end of the season.
End the doom and gloom and support the team!

Agree10 Disagree8

Olly,
knee jerk??? its been blatently obvious that we are lacking in midfield for 3 seasons now.r u for real?

Agree7 Disagree3

This talk about when our squad gets back in shape frustrates me.

This is a list of the players missing tonight apart from Vidic and Fletcher are out for the season at least:
Smalling, Cleverly, Young, Evans, Fabio, Gibson, Owen.
Smalling is a cert to start probably at RB, I think he needs to replace Rio at CB NOW
Cleverly showed potential earlier in the season but I think it is ridiculous that a club of United's stature is relying on a young kid and a 38 year old to provide midfield creativity.
Young is simply not good enough and has been either injured or missing in action since the Arsenal game
The rest are not and never will be good enough.

We conceded two goals tonight because we do not, in the absence of Vidic, have a centre back capable of getting his head on a 60 yard ball.

Agree8 Disagree1

You are talking out your arse we have nobody who can create apart from Rooney ands he's the CF . We are playing players out of position cause we haven't got the right players, time to get rid of Nani,Giggs Berbaflop, park etc they are useless

Agree6 Disagree3

I just can't understand how some united fans don't see that the team has been sh.t since the departure of cr7. they seem to be living in a bubble 'we are the best of the world, rooney is worldclass, etc...' wake up! we have been throughly ****ed by barca 2 times. i know some will tell we have been to 2 finals. but we lost them. we are manchester united and we don't settle for second best. if new worldclass players are not injected in the team we will soon die like pool. fergie talked about being on par with barca, i just don't see it with this team. we seem to have lost the 'never die attitude'. now before you can begin slating me being a pool fan ,s**tty fan or gloryhunter but i know i am and will always be a red mancunian.
Red Mancunia

Agree5 Disagree2

Even when we win its the style of play that is a concern - United have always been about attacking football, playing with flair and terrifying opponents with fast skillful wingers (maybe not fast re Beckham but he ticked a few other boxes!). While we might be grinding out results most of the time we are a long way off the teams of the 90's or early 00's.

Agree4 Disagree0

04 Jan 2012 21:17:19
We need to buy some proper quality players now, unless we spend some money, we can kiss the title goodbye.

LosMillonetas

Believable26 Unbelievable1

Totally agree, it's an absolute disgrace, we have no world class player & a shocking midfield

Agree23 Disagree6

We lack creativity, we can't keep the ball and don't even look like wining this game. We need players, wither thers money available or fervid is being stubborn. Something has to be sorted and fast.
Jf

Agree18 Disagree4

Win the league, at this rate we won't finish top 4.

All top teams to play away and major holes in the team

This needs major investment now.

S*** to watch.

Agree13 Disagree4

No creativity and boring football, we need ATLEAST 5 new players.

Agree14 Disagree9

There is no real money.

The Glazers have it.

Bankers

Agree18 Disagree4

Who do u think will join anyone thats any good plays for a decent side and they are not going to leave that for the worst united squad in history. Lucky to sign the best players from s**t teams, BA or that mug rodwell.

Agree11 Disagree3

Totally rubbish surely if there was money available we would spend it midfield totally useless we will lose sunday defo

Agree14 Disagree2

Clowns no money to spend Bebe last year obviously a deal where fergie made money again. Young, De Gea were brought needlessly as DG cant keep his place and young is a s**t nani so that money could have been spent on a midfielder, Fergie has had ample money over the previous few years to buy a creative midfielder but didnt now he will struggle cos who will want to sign for a team that cant beat Newcastle or blackburn. We will end up signing the likes of Rodwell thats how bad it is and about to get worse.

Agree10 Disagree2

Where are the berbatov lovers? absolute s..t
Possibly the worst team assembled since the nineties.

Agree10 Disagree2

Stop with the gloom sheeeeeeeesh !

Sneijder will come this Jan dnt think UTD have a choice and Inter want to sell !

De Gea will be world class granted he isnt yet though.

Jones and Smalling will also be world class again not yet granted.

I think Martinez or M'Villa will also come this summer.

As for Young we had no left winger he was needed Nani cant play there hes worse on the left than he is on the right. Remember Fergie wants to leave a team behind that can develop and stay together for years he doesnt want to buy short term players for short term honours.

Have a bit of faith the man hasnt served the club too bad over the last 25 years now has he !!

MACMAN

Agree9 Disagree10

Top of the post you say lucky to sign players from s**t teams then say like BA is that BA that plays for the s**t team that just hammered yous 3-0 and the same s**t team yous couldnt beat at Old Trafford, think before posting. as it happens i do still think yous can win the league history shows never write off sir Alex and his teams

"If the player wants to leave, we will have to listen to offers. But as of today, no offer for him has yet arrived," Oliveira told O Globo.

"The desire of the player is most important. If Ganso wants to leave Santos and our interests are preserved, we can negotiate."

The words of Santos president. Just putting in there so you can all poo-poo it now!

Believable13 Unbelievable1

Apparently Ganso wants to join us immediately he cant wait to link up with the likes of Giggs and park or anderson. Clown

Hazard would be a great option if we could get him, and i can't see a reason why we couldn't if he was available. He can play anywhere in midfield (apart from holding) and can play up front too.

Believable11 Unbelievable11

04 Jan 2012 17:42:53
Just throwing it out there the price tag for Chris Samba is pretty reasonable and i'm sure all the fans out there like me would love to see him at the club. We need a dominant centre back for Vidic and there are few as strong and good in the air as him!

For me the rumours in the press are becoming more sensible now, and they are the type of players that we would go for. The list of January players we would be looking at would be:

Rodwell
Martinez - if we're forced
Xhaka
Shaqiri
Elm
Montolivo
Dzagoev
Tiote
Cabaye

We know that we can have one player that has played in the CL, for me that would be Xhaka at first choice purely because he has a fantastic left foot and its those little stabbed passes like Scholesy did. And according to reports we'd face competition from Hamburg and Lazio who don't have our pulling power or budget. He is a realistic one for us to look at. If not i'd go for Dzagoev.

I think at most one midfielder will come in in January, Rodwell might come in, i doubt it though. We will get first refusal in the summer i imagine. Unless of course Gibson was off to Everton and we could use him to lower the fee.

In my mind that would be all the dealings that we will see in January, wanting anything bigger in January would be silly because thats not normally what we do. Summer one big name might come in, maybe Hazard if we are lucky. But Shaqiri would do me just fine.

RedDevil19

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Since De Gea cost us nearly 20mill and hes meant to be van der sar's replacement everyone has hype on him. Hes come from spain where if their under pressure they pass it out, he still needs to get use just clearing his lines and he still isn't use to physicality of the premierleague so he doesnt like dealing with set pieces, the guy is young and new to the league he's goona need time. Our otha keeper is solid, but i think de gea has the better potential just give the guy atleast till dis tym next season before we judge him properly. And can everyone forget about this suarez issue, He said something that in his country is okay, but lacked the common sense that it would be offensive in england( and a lot more countries). The guy's got his ban end of.

Agree12 Disagree3

Your comment has no relation to the orginal post..

Agree5 Disagree3

Cabaye quoted as saying he thinks MU will win title.
Come and get me.

Agree4 Disagree6

Did Cabaye really say that? Newcastle will want 20 mil. As for Tiote, he has 6 years left on his contract and no, he does not have a buy out clause, so he will cost 25 mil +. So 45 mil for the pair then? No, it aint gonna happen for either player

glad to see dalglish wasting more money on darren bent lol, on another note why does the media jump all over de gea when he flaps, but when reina does it nothings said.

Believable17 Unbelievable8

Simply because he is young and plays for the best team in England. Get used to it, the criticism won't stop for a few more years.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree13 Disagree4

Well Reina is a proven premiership goalkeeper and one of the best around!

Agree13 Disagree13

Yes utd fans , if you watched the goal , you can see pepe was blindsighted by agger just when the shot happened , that along with the dip of the ball led to the goal , just one of these things that happen in football , but i dont expect you lot to be as cluded up on football matters on the pitch as us liverpool fans, de gea needs to be taken out of your team , the other keeper is by far a better goalie............lfc

Agree7 Disagree17

Lfc you support liverpool, you know f*ck all about football. reina is on his last legs and every pool fan knows it. Reina will only get worse and worse where as DDG is gonna get better and better. DDG is gonna be a future number 1 at Spain, Reina will never get that privilege.

And as per usual, LFC finds an excuse as dumb as "the dip of the ball" "blindsighted".

LFC, you are what is classed as blindsighted. Still believe you have a better squad and gonna get top 4 this season. Top 6 this season, then you'll be saying goodbye to the awful man that is Suarez. Then it will be a farewell to the Kopites forever next season - relegation.

RedDevil92

Agree7 Disagree5

Yeh right lfc he was blocked from seeing it same as that cock up the other week, dream on son

Pardoe

Agree2 Disagree3

Blind sighted by Agger? He dived straight over the top of the ball LOL!

rpc

Agree7 Disagree2

I wouldn't take much notice of lfc, he believes Liverpool will win the league next season. IMO Reina should have done better for the 2nd goal too. If you look at the camera shot behind the goal, the ball went a foot above his head, should have been stopped as it wasn't exactly a bullet header.

Sydney! {Ed007's Note - You're wrong Syd mate, LFC said they will win it this year. I remember we laughed at him for ages about it.}

Agree7 Disagree1

Reina's been the most overrated GK in the world for years now. No idea why Liverpool fans think he's so great, but maybe it just takes their minds off of their defenders, midfielders and strikers!

Agree2 Disagree4

Isn't this supposed to be a United forum? Seriously lads stop taking the bait and just ignore them.

Agree7 Disagree2

Another £20m+ down the drain, or more to the point, Suarez' replacement.

Sydney!

Agree4 Disagree1

They are three something alright. But I think it's more in line with Larry, Curly and Moe.

Darren, the mercenary, Bent
Luis, the lout, Suarez
Andy, the ass, Carroll

By this time next season you might have more goals than Norwich.

Danny Pughnited

Agree5 Disagree1

A frontline of Darren Bent and Andy Carroll. Now thats scary.

RedSea

Agree3 Disagree1

Lol you really believe SSN? Bent has nothing concrete about a move to anywhere. Keep dreaming, top 6 this year, relegation next year.

RedDevil92

Agree6 Disagree1

Bit of a pointless buy if you ask me. You look your best when you play Suarez up top on his own, what happens when he comes back? Bent ain't going to be happy on the bench but that's all I can see him doing. £20m for 8 games is a lot of money! Nothing to say about Carroll, he's just toss. I thought he looked promising at Newcastle but I appear to be wrong. He's brilliant in the air but that's about it, shame really I had high hopes for him!

rpc

Agree3 Disagree1

'RedSea'

Scary for the Liverpool fans. Poor Ed001 must be pulling his hair out at the money being wasted by the Liverpool board. He's 28 next month and has had more injuries in the past year, than he has had in the previous ten. Dangerous signing for £20m+. FSG will not keep chucking £20m's at Kenny.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree0

Lfc,...i think u have lost ur mind after that 3 - 0 defeat to city yesterday.
1st of all, do u knw what Amigo means.,
2nd,...do u think ur club can finish above spurs, chelsea, arsenal, to be in top 4.

Ur so called best striker Racist suarez is still out for more ah.. what 7 games, so imagine more 7 defeats will take u to 11/12th spot where u actually shud be,...and then well we all can see new owners/new coach.....Kenny will probably take an assistant role somewhere in China,...
so start worrying mate...cheers

Agree2 Disagree1

'rpc'

What if Suarez isn't planning on staying at Liverpool? Suarez out, Bent in? Bent cost Villa £25m a year ago, he is going to cost anything between £20m-£25m if Liverpool want him, perhaps a little more.

Sydney!

Agree2 Disagree2

To the above poster , yes i do know what amigo means , 2nd , we are 3 points of 4th , add a few more goals and cutting edge to our game and yes top 4 is in sight , as for the racist stuff , we should move on , we all know there was a bit of nasty stuff said between evra and suarez , by both men , may i add , its just a pity the players union never sorted it out , infact luis will miss 3 prem games if we win this friday in the fa cup , we will buy 2-3 players this jan , so things are fine , having watched all teams this season ,we just need more goals , and with super stevie back , new signing , i am near sure we will finish 4th , and win a cup this season.............lfc

Agree1 Disagree4

Who knows Sydney! After how everything has played out with him and the hatred he's going to get it wouldn't surprise me to see him move abroad.

Keanes bents replacement

Agree0 Disagree1

I think some are being fickle if they think Bent will be terrible for Liverpool.

No, he is not the best striker around, but he scores goals. That's what Liverpool need, and if you can't accept he is a good goalscorer then I advise you take your pills an hour earlier each night.

MPez

Agree5 Disagree0

'MPez'

Bent scores goals, but I think the issue is that they would be spending £25m+ on a 28 year old who has come into a few injuries in the past year. It's a lot of money for a player that flopped at Spurs horrendously.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree1

Bent wont go to any top club.
He likes to be number one and he has no chance of that. Even with smaller clubs, he will spit his dummy out if they sign or take on loan a better striker than him.

If the newspaper reports are true and Cahill is demanding £120k a week from Chelsea, then that will be why we looked at him briefly and then never went back. The bloke wants the same as what Ferdinand is earning. Why would we pay Cahill £120k a week to sit on the bench when Smalling & Jones who are both better are on around £40k-£50k a week. Absolute madness.

Or perhaps he wants Chelsea to baulk on the salary so that he can leave for free in the summer and join United. Perhaps Big Sam has been working overtime again? You can just imagine Cahill signing for United for free in the summer on £80k a week. You wouldn't put it past SAF & Big Sam.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - The paper reports are not true Syd. But he still wants a lot.}

Believable7 Unbelievable7

I didn't believe the figures would be accurate Ed, however I can see Chelsea being a little stingy as they are trying to introduce a wage structure for the future and I can also see Cahill wanting more than he's worth because he knows Chelsea are saving money on him due to his low transfer fee. Do you see this being resolved Ed? I think it will due to the fact that there is so much time left in the window. Ed would you as a Chelsea fan prefer someone better than Cahill? Perhaps Subotic? Or are Chelsea buying him as a back-up?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I suspect that there will be a solution to the matter. I have no idea where you get this "wage structure" thought from - your alter ego? And I support Chelsea Syd, I am not a fan.}

Agree5 Disagree0

When Chelsea come into the millions they had no choice but to offer very high wages in order to attract top players and to prevent them from choosing United, Real Madrid or one of the Milanese clubs over them, same as what City have had to do in the past few years to get the best players. But now Chelsea are an established "top club", after winning silverware, they can now attract players without paying them extortionate wages. So there is no need to pay overpay players anymore is there? Didn't Bruce Buck say that Chelsea want to become a self sufficient club? That they will aim to be self sufficient by 2015? Perhaps a more strict wage structure is the right way to put it? I don't mean more strict than last season or the year before, I meant more strict than the 2004/05/06 era.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - You are simply making all of this "wage structure" up Syd. How is this going to manifest itself? It is hopeless somethimes Syd because of this strange obsession with money that you have.}

Agree4 Disagree0

Ed I think you are being completely unfair. All properly run clubs have a wage structure in place, all I am saying is Chelsea's isn't as relaxed as it was when Roman first took over. I am not saying Chelsea cannot afford to bring in top players and pay top wages, because they clearly can, just that they do not need to go over the top anymore as they are already an established top club. In a couple of years time City will no longer need to overpay for players. I thought that was a fair point, but obviously not, lets move on.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - How does this wage structure manifest itself at Chelsea?}

Agree5 Disagree0

Syd just means they are slowly but surely trying to reduce the wage bill to not be such a high percentage of their revenue so they can compete when the FFP rules come in. At least I think. That is what is meant by the 'self sufficient' comment by Buck in my eyes.

I think they will be looking to get Pato in if Tevez does move to Milan and are trying hard to get the best deal on Cahill allowing for them to offer a more competative salary for Pato if they do get to the negotiation stages. That's just a thought of mine.

Syd/Ed, have you heard of this guy Juan Manuel Iturbe(FC Porto)? He looks like a good future. I'm not sure wether he is a forward or a midfielder. In between I heard because of Porto's relationship with Utd, Porto got the guy on SAF's request. Utd couldn't buy him directly due to some clause. Any idea as to wether we'll see him in Utd in the near future? {Ed002's Note - Not in the near future.}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

The whole point of him going to Porto first is to establish himself as a first team player so he can get a work permit as an 'exceptional' talent. Similar to what we did with Anderson. You cannot expect to see him at United until he has established himself as an exceptional talent in the Porto first team.

Well hello all, been sept since my last post but been checking in on a regular basis, and before I get started hope all(even the city and pool fans who appear to post on here more often than their own sites) had a great xmas and all the best for 2012.

Now to get started I notice alot of lads are not to keen on Jack Rodwell, well get used to him as of the start of the 12/13 campaign he will be a Utd player, I posted in September that he would be signed before the Euro's something similar as to the way Jones and Young were signed last summer. Noted that there were rumours of a Chelsea interest last month but it was just some bu**s**t to fill a gap on the page. Am not aware of any coming's in January.

We could do with some cover for centre back though and might I state the obvious our midfield, where we have been so weak for a long long time. I agree with alot of lads on here who are asking for Morrison and Pogba to be played more regularly. Now in SAF I trust but why weren't they given oppurtunities against Wigan and Blackburn, we had Valencia and Park out of position in the centre against B'burn, why not play Pog and Mor, they'd of had Carrick and Jones to give them a bit of a dig out, seemed the perfect oppurtunity but yet I feel SAF may have bottled it. Will never forget watchin MOTD all those moons ago and Alan(dirty scouse)Hansen saying famously "you'll win nothing with kids". These are top drawer players, ok Morrison may have an issue or two but maybe if he starts getting a game or two and begins to get the feel of the OT turf then maybe he might cop himself on, settle down and become a Utd legend that we all believe he can become. Ran away a bit there but I haven't posted in a while.

I think SAF told earlier that he would sign a player only if he is world class and available. Do you guys think Rodwell fits into that category? I personally don't think so...
If he does sign for us, I would still be happy as I believe SAF knows football way better than me

Just a thought! If the top quality players we are looking for are not available now, why can't we look at loan options to patch up our current defensive/midfield problems and then look ahead in the summer like the Henrik Larsson loan deal sometimes back. Will this be a wise option?
