With the funds we have traditionally had over the last couple of seasons.... This would be my ideal transfer windows combined both January and Summer:

Thomas Ince: Another very good talented young England player that has a bright future, watched him progress all last season but didn't really think he could do it on the pressure situation until he shone in getting Blackpool all the way to Wembley and a good start to this season. Would cost us £4-5 million since he is in the last year of his contract, signed in January and loaned back to Blackpool till the end of season.

Stephan El Sharaaway (Excuse the spelling): Another talented youngster with so much potential and the world is finally taking notice of the kid as he is doing it on the biggest stage in world football (Champions League.) he is going to be a star in the future and I could see Sir Alex pouncing on him now and allowing him to develop into a top class player at our club. Not sure on price depending on how well he does this season

Final young signing will be the similar to the Angelo Henriquez one and that is Viktor Fischer. Will be signed on the cheap as Utd have been after the kid for some time now and after such an impressive NextGen Series last year it is now the right time for the reds to secure the Danes signings after rave reviews from Peter Schmeichel. £4 million and to be groomed in the reserves along with the talent already at the club.

Lewandowski. He will be the big signing of summer 2012, I can see Hernandez leaving in the summer as it just hasn't happened since his first season and I can see Lewandowski, RVP and Welbeck as our strike force. One year left in his deal so a similar price to Kagawa around £15million.

The reason I didn't include Rooney in the strikeforce is I believe Fergie is considering him for the replacement to Scholes. And I can see him being played there a couple of times this season to see how he performs there.

I also think a centre back will be signed but your guess is as good as mine as too who Sir Alex would bring in there.

Who does everybody else want in the summer?

Not so sure about Fischer 4m, or el sharaway. But im convinced that we are moving to a more modern way of football with roo and kags part of a three in behind a striker. We need a holding midfielde though before this can be considered. Lewondowski is top class but i dont know can i seehim coming with RVP, Welbs and chico there soone will have to be sold.

I do not rate El Sharaaway at all, a good goal the other night, but he is very wasteful and is poor in so many ways.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

El Sharaaway has had a terrific start to the season and like most players, a consistent run in the team has improved his performances... Jonny Evans last year as a prime example

January:

+ Tom Ince
+ Kevin Strootman
- Kiko Macheda
- Bebe
- Joshua King

Loan a few out, but depending on Cup draws keep some that are closest to 1st team, e.g. Wooton, Keane, Henriquez, Tunnicliffe, Powell and Petrucci.

Summer:

+ Liam Moore
+ Leighton Baines
+ Rob Lewandowski (Maybe)
+ Ross Barkley (Maybe)
+ Fabio

- Pat Evra
- Rio Ferdinand
- Ryan Giggs
- Paul Scholes
- Chicharito (Maybe)
- Nani

The reason I have choosen these players is that ideally, we need a blend of youth and experience and I like to see young English/British players. We'd have Jones, Smalling, Tunnicliffe, Ince, Keane, Moore, maybe Barkley, Cleverly, Welbeck & Powell. For experience we'd have Vidic, Baines, Rooney, Fletcher, Carrick, Valencia, Young & RVP.

I think the squad would have a nice balance and we'd have got rid of the older, less hungry players who don't show the same energy levels of the youngsters (e.g. Evra).

The team, in my mind, would be something like this:

___________De Gea
Rafael__Smalling__Vidic__Baines
___________Strootman
_____Cleverly_____Anderson
___Rooney____RVP____Kagawa

We'd then have exciting options to mix the team up, Valencia, Young, Ince, Tunnicliffe, Buttner etc.

Jan:

Thomas Ince
Viktor Fischer
Okore

That would be my ideal

I like it except I don't want El Shaaraway. he is not that great I agree with Syd and if we were to get Fischer (which I really hope we do) then I think they are similar and Fischer will be better. Also, I would rather get rid of Welbeck than Hernandez. Hernandez could be our Solskaer (super impact sub), Welbeck is good but just doesn't score at all. He has played 13 or 14 games for us and England this season and hasn't scored once that is abysmal!

-Welbeck
-King
-Macheda
-Bebe
-Nani
-Anderson

(net 45m)

+Vidal - 30m
+Ronaldo..... (or Ince I suppose ;) ) - 5m
+Lewy - 15m
+Fischer - 8m

net 58m

Lewandowski is worth more but in his last year of contract that will be what he goes for whether its to united or not.

I'd love Barkley but I think that is very unlikely.

Whats the point in signing all these kids when most of them don't get anywhere near the first team?

I also don't get the Ince thing, i think if his name was Tom Ruddock we wouldn't be getting linked with him, as its Ince we are. Its only cos his dads an ex player. I don't see the need in wasting 5 million on a player we don't need when there are more pressing needs such as centre mid and centreback.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do people want a cb when we have 5cbs for 2 places? Evans, Ferdinand, Jones, Vidic and Smalling, which one would you get rid of? Maybe if Ferdinand goes and ones only plays as a cm then another CB may be needed. But then if Jones is moved to CM we will not be buying another one and I would like to see Vidal or Strootman this January.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Dan Rio is past it, and Vidic is showing signs of not recovering from his injury as he's broken down again. Evans form can be patchy as he's either very good or a liability. Smalling has had a few niggles and Jones i feel his future lies in midfield not defence. Rio and Vidic were world class. Smalling is potential world class but he needs a world class partner. I'd like to see Keane and Wooten step up but we do need to sign a top centreback as well.

Agree0 Disagree0

The kind of inury Vidic has it can sometimes not go to plan in the first surgery and they have a second "corrective surgery". There is no reason he could not be 100% after this and I wouldn't assume otherwise as this can sometimes happen with ligament surgery.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

He is also at a point in his career where injuries can take longer to recover from. It's also worth noting alot of CB start to become injury prone once they get to 31/32/33 due to the riggors of their trade. So that leaves us with Smalling as our best choice CB with Jones who isn't ready to be first choice, Evans who's form blows hot and cold, and Rio who is unlikely to be here past the summer due to his injury problems. It's unfair to put the pressure of being first choice on Smalling so it makes sense to sign someone else to be first choice and let them Smalling and Vidic rotate, with Evans and Jones as back up and ready to step up in a couple of years time when Vidic is no longer able to play at the highest level.

Shappy

Agree0 Disagree0

I guess you have a point Shappy but I would still rather spend that money on a left winger or CM like Strootman or Vidal.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to agree with Shappy, we need an experience CB to replace RIO but we also need a world class CM as Jones is still young and developing

Acker

Agree0 Disagree0

Subotic or hummels would be beast in defense then bring gotze for nani then polish striker not even attempting to spell it and then we can change our name to dortmond united coz they have a gun team look what they did to man city

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanayama- Runs for 90 mins like Young Essien but he also score. Strong, tough, defensive midfielder who scores and will come under 10m.
Eriksen- At the age of 20 he is so mature, strong built, beautiful touch, dribbles, sprays the ball long and short, defends, lots of energy and a definite superstar. Even the likes of Johan Cruyff recognise him as a great talent.
Possible a winger if Nani leaves, ideally Isco with , if not J. Rodriguez of Porto.

Red Samurai

Agree0 Disagree0

Hummels for defence
Eriksen & Fischer for Mid
Lewandowski for ST

a new manager please

Hernandez is pretty awesome if you actually look at his movement when he doesn't have the ball...his first touch has improved dramatically and i believe the goals will flow pretty soon...he works hard and has immense talent...he will not leave...atleast should not leave

Not really a rumour but more of some speculation - anyone else feels a long overdue clearout should be on the cards quite soon. I for one can definitely see Nani, Macheda and Hernandez leaving for a total of about 40M. Even if we dont sign Ince, a wing selection of Valencia, Young, Henriquez and Brady (both of the last two I believe need their chances) would be really good. Am hoping that at least Carrick and Evra are added to that list as well, and Giggs retires..

Hope all the money is blown on a winger and just one world class midfielder (Khedira, Vidal?).. unlike most people I dont feel we need any more defenders once Jones, Vidic, Smalling and Fabio are back.

And lastly, just what does Petrucci need to do to get a game?

TIPRA_REDDEVIL

Believable13 Unbelievable13

Henriquez isn't a winger and nor is Welbeck. Carrick is underrated. Also we want Giggsy to stay around for as long as possible likewise with Scholes but just play less but still inspire and teach in the training sessions. Khedira? No thanks.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree1

Ozwald

we do NOT want Giggs and Scholes to stay around for as long as possible because as long as they are their our manager feels for whatever reason that he has to play them which in turn means the young lads are not getting a chance.
Also they are probably the reason no CM has been bought in the last few seasons.

Devil Dust.

Agree1 Disagree0

Henriquez is damn competent as a wing-forward, from whatever I have seen.. and it was never suggested Welbeck to be a winger..

Also, Scholes and Giggs should be part of the coaching setup.. but not the squad.. we have soooo many youngsters who are hyped up as the next big things who are coming through and yet not a single one of them is getting a game.. you need to at least try them a bit or else face having many more Pogbas

As for Carrick, I think he is a very good player but SAF is just not playing him to his strengths.. he is not a DM, especially not against quality opposition.. our ideal tempo is too fast for him, and I think Fletcher Cleverley Anderson Tunnicliffe Kagawa Petrucci and just one addition (someone like Vidal) would really complete our midfield now.. with Powell Daehli and so on probably staking regular claims in a few years..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ideally I would like Macheda, bebe, King, Welbeck, Nani and Anderson out which should raise 50m. Bringing in Vidal would be great and also signing a left winger would be great. I would love Ronaldo back if possible obviously and it might not be as unlikely as it sounds, as long as SAF can convince the Glazers to cough up which he is reportedly working on. Ince would be a good buy as well but makes me wonder if that will kiss goodbye to Barmbys/Van Velzens chances with us.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Devil Dust, i completely agree with your reasoning re keeping Scholes & Giggs. We were in trouble last season in midfield and we were blessed Scholes came out of retirement to help out. However, that decision was a large reason why some younger players decided to move on. Also continuing playing Giggs & Scholes instead of trusting some of the younger players is going to be damaging in the long run. It's no accident that Pogba is now getting first team games at the thriving Juventus, he was ready and SAF decided to go with experience instead. That decision could cost us million to put right, i.e. a major fee paid for Vidal, Fellaini, Khedira, Strootman, or whoever you want to name.

RedMonkey

Agree1 Disagree0

I think the only time we are going to clear out is when saf will finally decide to hang his boots.
Fantastic manager, the best, but United have stood still the last three years. B. Dortmund showed last night how far we are behind the top European sides. It is quite alarming and depressing.
NoMidfield

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the clearout needs to happen in defence more than attack, against tottenham in first half they were dreadful. Keep Vidic and Rafael but get rid of Rio he is past it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree Petrucci does need a chance, but Carrick is a class player, his passing is superb, and like Rooney, Carrick keeps up ticking over. I think we need one more defender, and I think we certainly need another winger and centre mid, but should we sell Young or Nani. Gilly

Morning ed's, is there anything of interest that you've heard this morning? Also I would like to ask if interest in Inigo Martinez has dropped off the chart? He seemed like a good, young, ball playing centre back - something that SAF likes in his centre backs.

Fresh! {Ed002's Note - If Real Sociedad decide to sell the kid he will be expensive. A number of clubs have declared an interest in him, but not MUFC.}

any change of either M'Vila or Moutinho in JAN...

or both? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Hi Eds Would ye have any idea who or if we might be interested in Jan please. Keep the good work up love the site

Damian M {Ed002's Note - There is nothing new worth noting right now. Perhaps the club will look to pushing for for a Witsel type player, but January is not a good time to go shopping as fewer players will be available.}
