Sly Sports sources claimed on Sunday afternoon that the Red Devils had now agreed a fee with Sao Paulo, but the Brazilian club's vice-president Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes insists that is not the case.

"He will certainly return to Sao Paulo," he told Lancenet.

"There is no negotiation going on. As we have already said it's very hard for him to leave during the current transfer window.

"We have no interest in selling him but Sao Paulo are not stupid. We know that in certain situations you can't say no.

"But such kind of offer hasn't come yet."

The Brazilian Football Federation, meanwhile, says no English club has been in contact about trying to sort out a medical for Lucas during the Olympics.

"We haven't received any request from an English club regarding that," a statement from Brazil's FA (CBF) said to Globo Esporte.

"In case we do receive such a request, we won't allow the player to leave Brazil's training to undergo the medical."

Moura's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, has also insisted it is too early to talk about the player completing a transfer anywhere.

He said: "I don't talk about factoids. This news about the selling of Lucas is not true."

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Just as well. Why are we in for a guy that is benched by Chel$ki's new mercenary? Looks like Moura has a good PR guy talking up a good game.

Like I said jred until he's in a red shirt it's all bu**
PSY

Agree0 Disagree0

Moura going to psg in January this saga just carrys on?

Agree0 Disagree0

Remember everything being denied suits all parties except perhaps his agent. It suits United, Lucas and Sao Paulo for everything to be denied until it is completed. Bob Cass, Miguel Delaney, Sky (Freitus) and the Telegraph all putting their necks on the line. I have a feeling that when the editor speaks to his Brazilian friend he may well say a similar thing. Not a "done deal", but United are strong favourites at this point.

We'll see soon enough I guess.

Man Utd's enquiry into a deal for Isco from Malaga is as follows. His buy-out clause is £20million and united are very interested as Fergie is looking to bring in some of the best young talent from different parts of the world Kagawa,Lucas,Isco,Powell etc. Utd however are looking for a cut price deal for the spaniard for around £10million with future add-ons for appearances. But my understanding is Malaga want around £13-£15million up front to help ease the pain of their huge debts.

fearny

Believable17 Unbelievable8

Why do we need isco now.....
when we have kagawa , powell , anderson , scholes , cleverly and carrick for the CM position
what we need is a CDM

Agree0 Disagree0

Must admit, he's not a player I know anything about! Anyone tell me where he plays, his style etc? And would he be a good addition? Cheers in advance.

Andy

Agree1 Disagree0

Playmaker good feet good skills very talented would be a better option than
andersson and would be great for 13m

Agree0 Disagree0

Instead of andersson

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002; you know of any truth in these reports?

Thanks,

rpc {Ed002's Note - If there is interest in Isco then there has been a change of tact. I don't know right now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be interested who included the worlds talent from around the world. If it came from someone linked to the club it would further enhance my thinking that they are looking to enhance their place in the global football market firstly and football is secondary.

Agree0 Disagree0

A winger i believe

Agree0 Disagree0

Unnamed - CM is our biggest need, of those you listed, Kagawa is an attacking midfielder who plays wide or in the hole, Scholes is aging and not able to play enough games anymore, Powell is more used to a more attacking role like Kagawa and is some way of being ready for a regular first team role yet, Cleverley is good, but doesn't offer much in tackling or intercepting the ball, same with Carrick, Ando is injury prone and inconsistent.

We do not neccesarily need adefensive midfielder, indeed SAF's comments make that highly unlikely, but we could definately use a good midfielder who can win the ball as well as pass, like some of the cms we've been linked with (Moutinho, Fellaini, Witsel etc.).

Thorne

Agree0 Disagree0

Carrick has mosre interceptions than most MF's actually. He can't tackle, but does intercept balls well.
Carrick, Scholes, Ando, Fletch, Cleverley and Powell (Fergie has said he will be a CM) are all capable midfielders. More than enough. Plus any kids that make the step up.
Isco is a winger. Another position we don't need to strengthen.

A.M.

Agree0 Disagree0

I stand corrected Re: Carrick, but the fact remains that last season our midfield was routinely dominated by decent opposition. They can all pass the ball well, but with Fletch still out, we lack the abillity to hassle and tackle. Lets face it, with Fetch out, the best tackler in our midfield now is probably Ando!

I think we desperately need to add another midfielder, someone like Moutinho or Fellaini who passes etc. well, but can also help us get control in midfield.

Reports from Brazil say that the Brazilian FA are not allowing Lucas to go for a medical. That he must wait til after the Olympics.

His agent continues to deny negotiations are even taking place. Like Ed002 would say, take what he says with a pinch of salt.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - The press statement says that they have not been asked to release Moura for a medical.}

Believable5 Unbelievable5

The reports must be false then Ed. However everyone is denying everything at the moment, but to be fair they have been denying everything all summer regarding every interested club. Will they keep denying everything until deals finalised with whoever signs him?

Man utd will make enquiries on malagas isco
Isco has a £20 million buy out clause but he only cost Malaga £4 million last season
Also they may have to sell him due to their financial problems

Believable9 Unbelievable5

Would be available for around Ł12-Ł14million is my understanding. Malaga really are struggling and Utd are interested for a fee of around Ł10 million

Proud to say Vidic is officially back.

Believable40 Unbelievable3

Yep he looking fit fingers crossed 4 the new season wellbeck missed couple chances

Agree0 Disagree0

I watched the match and Welbeck had two good shots that the keeper made excellent saves from, maybe say that rather than he missed 2 chances, people that didn't see the game will think he was poor when actually he was pretty good.

GDS

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Welbeck played well, especially in the first half. The keeper made two good saves. I really liked the right side, with Nani and Valencia today. Was good to see Vidic back, and I think (the little we saw) Kagawa linked well with his teammates... he hasn't been there for a long time, you know.

Moura's deal getting closer as only medical remaining but my sources claim that he wouldn't have medical until after the olympics because brazil fa wouldn't allow that but the deal would be completed early next week.

PSY

Believable24 Unbelievable8

Apologies for the cut and paste.

Manchester United have agreed a Ł30million deal for Brazil's Lucas Moura.
Lucas Moura will have a medical in Manchester today after travelling down last night from Newcastle for Brazil's Olympic Games quarter-final against Honduras at St James' Park, where he started on the bench.

Sorry PSY but I haven’t noticed any mention of hope. Though I’m hoping it is true but it is in the daily fail after all.

I like the idea of signing Lucas Moura but i would much prefer to be in the market for a £20million pound central midfielder and not RVP if the rumours are true, we could sign M'Villa, Sahin, Khedira, Dembele or Witsel for around that or even less.

Believable18 Unbelievable11

We still may be in for those other players... David Gill & Fergie play the best MIND GAMES there are. Plus most deals will have a NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) attached. So Fans will hear when its prudent for MUFC to announce it. PATIENCE

don't understand why we are (supposedly) going to spend 30m on moura, we already have 3 good wingers and kagawaw can play on the left if needed to.
shouldn't we be spending the money on the central midfield..

id rather spend 30m on moutinho than moura.

only reason i think we are after moura is if he does well for us his price will soar and real madrid or some other top team will pay stupid money for him.

Believable18 Unbelievable14

He can be moulded he is still young

CAIN

Agree1 Disagree0

It's because he has the potential to replace Ronaldo.

Red Joe

Agree2 Disagree0

I've seen a few bits of footage of him online and watched him when he's played in the Olympics and I honestly think he'll be moulded into a central midfield player. Someone who can inject some energy in the midfield or behind the front man. Think Kaka in his prime. I might be wrong but that's the way I see it.

Matt

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't know why everyone is complaining about buying Lucas. He isn't just a winger... He can play in the middle of the park as well just like Kagawa can play in midfield or just off the striker

Agree1 Disagree0

This kids gunna be amazing, you won't be moaning about the money spent on him in a few months time. just wish we'd not already given #7 to valencia.

Andyred

Agree0 Disagree0

Moura has the feet to be as good as Messi or Ronaldo guys ..hes top drawer and I for one hope we get him asap

Agree0 Disagree0

You clearly havent watched the lad much, has the potential to be as good as Ronaldo and Messi, unbelievable feet, would be a great buy IMO
SC

Agree0 Disagree0

If he comes in Nani will leave. although Nani has good stats it doesn't make up for lack of consistency and his inability to make the right decisions on the ball. he is not 1st choice on left or right and if Moura is that good then he will not see as much game time as he would else where. can't seel Real going for him though. PSG, Juve, spurs...

Agree0 Disagree0

Moura has told the press that he would like to play in a central position in more of a CAM role.

Hi this is the first time I have posted on the site. Sorry for the copy and paste.

Manchester United have agreed a £30million deal for Brazil’s Lucas Moura.
Lucas Moura will have a medical in Manchester today after travelling down last night from Newcastle for Brazil’s Olympic Games quarter-final against Honduras at St James’ Park, where he started on the bench.

Ferguson stayed behind to finalise the Moura business when the team left for Norway yesterday for the match against Valerenga.

I hope this rumour is true as I feel we lacked a bit of flare last season. Ed I also think this site is great, as we get romours and debates from all over the :-)

I've heard a few rumours that the Qatar royal family are back in for us, is this true does anyone know?

Caolán.

Believable9 Unbelievable22

In all honesty we are the most appealing club in the world to buyers due to our huge profits which out do pretty much everyone if I am correct. If the Qatari's come in with an offer it will be to own the club and pay off the debt completely to make it a great business for them and to be competitive on the pitch also.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would doubt it because they already own PSG. It would be interesting if we came up against them in the champs league. I dont want a bloody sugar daddy funding us anyway and with FFP coming in then at least the club will have to fund itself and make a profit.

Dan {Ed002's Note - It is not allowable to own two clubs outright that can meet in UEFA competition.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I wish this was true I really do however if this partial sale of shares goes well the club could be valued at over two billion pounds, for that money a wealthy owner could buy a tin pot club and invest over 900 million on mercenaries and within a few years they will win the league

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes but it would also make sense that they would be buying a club that is pretty much the finished article. No need to spend a billion on players on a club that lost the league on goal difference. Plus FFP would puts us well ahead on cash for spending. FFP if it works would ensure that having a sugar daddy becomes less relevant.

Agree0 Disagree0

United don't need City style investment.
We need to have our debts cleared...thats all. If we had no debt, then we could spend freely, and spend well, and still have no probs with FFP.
Our turnover is massive, the football generated money at United would give us more than enough spending power, with our own money not a rich owners dirty cash.
But won't happen imo. Glazers have a well fed cash cow at their disposal, why sell when you can bleed us slowly for years to come.

Agree0 Disagree1

"Tin pot club"? "invest over 900 million on mercenaries"? Surely this cannot re;ate to any club in the EPL. Oh wait .....

Hi ed002,

not wanting to challenge your authority as i to have read the rulebook and understand where you are coming from, but a albanian consortium owns 20% of AC Milan and 80% of Bologna, so its possible I think. {Ed002's Note - No it is not possible and your figures are a little skewed. Read the words I wrote. Even replace the word "outright" with "controlling" and reflect on the 20% you mention.}

Experience tells me not to believe a word the mail says, none the less hope it's true.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm inclined to think there maybe something in this from the daily mail. They have been reporting all summer re the Moura deal and were first to annouce we had sent a team to Brazil to do the deal, all of which has since been confirmed in terms of offers made by Sao Paulo. Here's hoping! If we do sign Moura and get Rvp that would represent a fantastic transfer window don't you think!?

K-Stand Red

Wheres RVP going to play?
If ever there was a player we don't need, it's RVP.
Good though he is, i can't see a place for him in the side.

How can you not see a place in the side for rvp?? Top scorer last season, world class striker IMO, Rooney kagawa Toni/moura feeding to rvp sounds pretty good to me.

Snakey80

Good point well put. Some people are just never happy. To say we don't want the leagues top scorer to me is just plain stupid. Danny Wellbeck good though he is, and with age will improve, is not at the level of RVP. Rooney and Rvp together will be brilliant. Guys what would you rather seen Jessie Lingard stay an develop in the cups or go on loan to a championship club? I'd prefer him to stay along with Michael keane and tunnicliffe.

Caolán.

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Would definitely prefer to see them on loan, a full season of first team football is much better than a handful of cup games

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like to see Tunners thrown in at the deep end with Powell and used in the first team if only as a sub or against weaker teams as i think they would improve more around the stars and i think Lingaard and M Keane should be kept even if its only until January

Agree0 Disagree0

I think after buying Powell then Lingaard has been sidelined sort of. Loan out Lingaard but keep Larnell Cole, Michael Keane and Tunners. Also involve Will Keane when he recovers from his injury.

Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

He needs a loan tbh, he's looked great in pre-season but that doesn't mean all that much. He needs to prove himself with regular first team action but I'm certainly hoping he has a career with Uited ahead of him
