With the signings of de gea young and jones, sir alex has spent most of his transfer kitty but has still got to buy a creative midfielder. This will be wesley snieder. Money will be raised through the sales if nani (25m) and oshea and brown (10m) and the remainig 7m out of the kitty. He will sign within the next 3weeks and will be on 210k a week.

Believable4 Unbelievable15

Rubbish, United will never pay a player 210k a week for his first contract. Sneijder will not be purchased this summer, I would be shocked if we did.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

So who do we sign then Sydney? Or are you a believer of promoting from youth. Every Target we have seems to be slipping away. Modric to Chelsea, Nasri will stay at Arsenal, Sanchez to Barca. We are running out of options. So we might need to pay stupid money for once. I personally think Kaka is worth a look at.

Sambo

Agree0 Disagree0

I fully believe Sneijder has never been a United target. I believe it's all been media driven and helped by Moratti's lies. Inter are desperate to sell him, Sneijder is happy to stay put, but I cannot see him ending up anywhere but Inter next season. That's my opinion mate.

I am for promoting youth, but I do believe we need a central midfielder in the mould of Nasri & Modric. Kaka's legs have gone and would cost a fortune in wages.

Modric now out of sight for united as he tells spurs to sell him to chelsea. Source ssn.

Whitey

Believable13 Unbelievable15

It's only out of sight if Chelsea sign him. I am not convinced Boas wants Modric, this will leave Modric in a bit of limbo if Chelsea are no longer interested. Could he really go back to Spurs with his tail between his legs? I doubt it, I guess he will have to look at other options and I would say we are an option.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I would doubt Modric would say let me go to Chelsea if he wasnt sure that they actually wanted him Syd.

Red Knight.

Agree0 Disagree0

The words "Sell me to Chelsea" have not left Modric's mouth today. It's exaggerated by SSN considerably as Modric is yet to speak to Levy. The meeting will take place on Thursday. They are speculating that that's what he will say to Levy.

Lets hope Boas has other plans. I know Ed002 isn't that keen on Mods, lets hope Boas feels the same way.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney

Modric is going to Chelsea. As you are obviously a big fan of his, you will have to find someone else to hang your hopes on. I do like to read your intriging stories though. Don't be surprised if United and City are linked in the papers though. Its now all about Spurs getting as much money out of Chelsea as they can, and they will encourage bids from ourselves to that end. I don't want a player who has specifically asked to go to another club, do you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Until I hear him say that, I will ignore it. Chelsea are the only club to have bid for Modric, if we were to make a bid he may think differently, but it's not uncommon that a player would prefer to carry on living where they live. His kids are probably happy at school too. So it's not surprising that he wants to stay put, but if Chelsea have pulled out of the race to sign him, then he will need to think again won't he?

Chelsea bid for him before Boas was brought in and he wasn't one of Boas' targets. It's still very possible Chelsea are interested, but they never followed up with a second bid, did they?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Syd if Chelsea bid for him before Boas came then who do you think authorised it ??

Mr Abramovic obviously wants him and so then it doesnt really matter what the new manager thinks. Also this is what Modric stated about a month ago.

Chelsea are a big club with an ambitious owner. They have great players and they have ambitions to fight for the title and win the Champions League. I want to stay in London. I am very happy here and so are my family. I like the city.

I don t want to have an argument with Tottenham. The supporters have been very good to me and I have enjoyed my time playing for the club, but it is for football that players leave clubs and move. It has happened to Tottenham before. It is normal for a player to dream about playing for a bigger club.

I think its obvious he wants the Chelsea move Syd.

Red Knight.

Agree0 Disagree0

I never said he didn't prefer the Chelsea move RK, I said he he probably would prefer to stay in London, but I am not sure if Chelsea still want Modric. Ed002 said that there was one person out of the few that monitor players that wants Modric, but he never stated who. It maybe the owner, but if it isn't then there is a big chance that Boas will choose his players. If Boas don't fancy bringing in Modric, then perhaps they won't.

Lets not forget that Chelsea are monitoring Pastore, he was identified as Lampard's replacement two years ago. Boas also wants to bring Moutinho to the club, Chelsea cannot buy them all. If Chelsea comeback with a second bid then I will admit defeat, but until then Modric is a Spurs player.

I think a lot of the targets mentioned here are so called paper talk. OzIl is Alex's 1st priority.

Believable5 Unbelievable18

O.k, so you made a fluke prediction you made based on fifa no doubt and now because the club president has indicated he may leave, all of a sudden he is going to sign for us...

Got some news on utd tonight over the weekend they made new offer for Alexis Sanchez for about 35 euros which was rejected which my understanding works out about £30m which means utd have up there offer from 28m it means were are still in hunt for him and on to what Udinese Director said about him with Barcelona he also said that other clubs are in talks as well.
Other news Wesley Sneijder will join utd if he takes a pay cut if not they will look at someone else Ferguson wants both players to challenge Barcelona.

Believable15 Unbelievable10

Utd should only sign players that want to play for us, so if he wants to go to Barca let him go.

Question for Sydney and Ed002,

Do u think Javier Pastore will fit in our squad, i know the next arrival will be an attacking midfielder, but do you think Nasri or Modric fits better in our squad..

RedMan007 {Ed002's Note - I suspect we will never know. Chelsea have been interested in the player for two years - he is seen as a replacement for Frank Lampard. The price seems to high for me, but we will see.}

Believable5 Unbelievable9

I think Nasri, Modric & Kagawa are our serious targets. I think Modric was our long-term target, but with Nasri possibly making himself available perhaps we will try for him first? I think Kagawa could be a last resort. I think Pastore is too pricey at £40m.

SAF's best player this season was Modric, he made that clear in a press conference. I think Modric was who we were planning on getting, Nasri have changed that slightly. With Kagawa as our back-up if we miss out on both.

That's just my opinion though.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I think Pastore is very much a target seeing as we tried to sign him from Huracan and we all know if SAF wants his man, hell probably get him.

I think Pastore is ahead of Kagawa, kagawa has only had one season in the bundesliga and not a full one. We will see how he develops before making a move, with Dortmund having champions league football next year, it is the perfect place for him next season

Sanshine

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you think if SAF goes for someone he'll get him?i could name loads of people that SAF went for and didn't get.i'd name them but i'd make my response too long.please people name them.

Ill just start off with a few names: ozil, david villa, david silva, neuer, milner, benzema, and many many many more.

Manchester United will make a £30 million swoop for Lyon trio:

Lisandro Lopez:aged 28 (replacing Dimitar Berbatov)

Yoann Gourcuff:aged 24(replacing Paul Scholes)

Aly Cissoko:aged 23 (replacing defender Gary Neville)

Believable15 Unbelievable49

What swap a 28 year old Lopez for a 30 year old Berbatov? I think we will sign someone younger & better than that.

Gourcuff is a bottler, cannot handle it in a big club, would be awful in a United shirt.

Aly Cissokho is a Left-Back, Neville was a Right-Back.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

All three would cost at least £50million together

G.A.G.U.S

Agree0 Disagree0

You just made this off the top of your head. rubbish

Agree0 Disagree0

Berbatov I can't see leaving so I can't see Lopez coming in.

Gourcuff would be good but he would cost around £30m on his own.

Aly Cisshoko is a good player but he plays left back not right back. He only has 1 foot aswell so he wouldn't play very well at RB. If Evra leaves then maybe he would replace him but can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think that 30m and berbatov would get the 2 we need from the list - lopez is not needed even if berba goes. Gourcuff is a good player and could be great and cisshoko wouldn't replace neville but instead give competition to evra with the twins at rb. As everyone has stated for the last 2/3 years we need an cm and with the impending departures of brown and o'shea cover at fb will be needed as i cant see little reece and blackett given a chance in the first team just yet. Not my first pic for the positions but the Lyon pair could do a good job for us. El Paso {Ed007's Note - Moneypenny loves your dad's fajitas and enchiladas!}

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he's a defender but Cisshoko has only scored one goal in his whole career.no disrespect he IS a good player just not for united and, mainly i think that rumour is just bulls##t.

Ive been told again that mauro zarate is going to be a united player next season

Believable17 Unbelievable11

He's a right forward. I look at it like this:

Rooney & Hernandez going nowhere. Berbatov could leave but I doubt he will be sold. We have Owen still and Welbeck has been told he will have more playing time this coming season. That's 5 forwards without reserves. Do you really think United will sign another striker this summer? If Berbatov is sold the money made from him will go towards an attacking midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

We will never sign, an Argentinian again, wrong mentality

Agree0 Disagree0

Gabby Heinze was good for us, Tevez had a good couple of seasons and Veron was a disaster. It's not the country the player comes from, it's their talent and spirit that counts. Or are you saying "give me Defour but not that guy Messi" Though I must add I don't care fore Zarete much.

He has been disruptive in the past, he does not fit well in to a team environment, he monas if he does not start. Endless problems.}

I still believe United are in the market for a cultured ballwinner and a left footed luxury player. The market domestically, has been dictated by the under 21's or holidays(picking up Jones and Young). Now, continental players are available (De Gea), but all the big clubs are looking at a fashionable few, or further afield hoping to pick up a find in the Copa. United are due to go on tour soon and will make a move, but I hope it's not left until deadline day, a la Yorke, Berbatov.

Believable13 Unbelievable3

Does anyone think it possible that if we sell berbatov that we may try and get sanchez and convert him to a forward like with CR7

Believable18 Unbelievable10

Sanchez will 100% be at Barcelona next year. So give up on that one.
I am thinking maybe we should try for Xavi or Iniesta. I know this sounds mental, but how can they fit Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta, Sanchez, Messi, Villa, Pedro etc in the same team. none of the above are squad players. They will all expect to start, and Barca very rarely change their line up. {Ed002's Note - 3-4-3 as they used to play.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Get over sanchez he's not coming i know us united fans have a never say die spirit but the fat lady as well and truly been singing on this deal for weeks now..besides i never real heard anything certain about sanchez just interest and rumours in that case we would be near signing a hundred players a window

Agree0 Disagree0

That was the plan, bring in Young & Sanchez for Nani & Berbatov. But I expect Nani will stay now we have missed out on Sanchez.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I suspect the club have known for weeks and weeks that Sanchez was not going to happen. There are still major financial issues to resolve though.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002, what makes you think United have known for weeks and weeks that they were not getting Sanchez? City only pulled out a week ago because the player chose Barcelona. What's to say United have not made an offer weeks ago and are waiting to see if the Barcelona thing falls through to see if it ends up being the best move for club and player?

United don't always make official bids as we know from the Hernandez, De Gea & Young deals, United do their business discreetly, not even any of your contacts could tell you United had signed De Gea in principle. Don't you think there's a chance that United do things on a more secretive scale than other clubs?

I believe we are out of the running for Sanchez, but I don't think we have been out of the running for weeks & weeks.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - A certain party has been pretty open over what has been going on with Sanchez and the problems he is himself having in dealing with Udinese over any deal for Sanchez. If Manchester United wish to get involved again they will need to do it soon. Aside from a further enquiry from Chelsea which you knew of, the only point of note that is new is a second approach from Anzhi Makhachkala offering more money. It won't be acceptable to the player. The problem Barcelona have is cash flow.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So United have been out of the mix for a while? But say for example United made a £27m bid months ago, City offered more, Chelsea offered more, Anzhi offered more, but Barcelona wouldn't budge. Say it all fell through with Barcelona, surely it wouldn't go to the next highest bidder, surely it would be the team that he (Sanchez) next prefers to join?

So could United be waiting in the background along with Chelsea, City & Anzhi and keeping an eye on the Barcelona money problem?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - No, it is not how it works. It is not like eBay. As I have tried to explain, obviously without success, Udinese and their owner are perhaps not the easiest folks to deal with. The player wants to go to Barcelona. Barcelona want to strike a deal which does not involve them in raising a lot of cash quickly. Players have been offered in part exchange without being consulted. So it is right now a bit of a mess, as predicted. He could even end up staying in Udinese whilst Manchester United and Chelsea battle it out over Pastore.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Pastore? You love dropping your hints on us don't you Ed? So is there 'real' interest from United in Pastore Ed?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Take it as a hint for now, but I suspect there may be. Put aside anything attributed to Zamparini right now and anything the press has to say today and tomorrow, but Simonian's discussions with AP in Argentina reveal that both clubs have not dropped their interest, that Malaga are interested, that Barcelona are not really able to sustain their interest and that at present Manchester City are not seen as a viable option. So we will see.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Do you really see United being interested in Pastore at 40million+, ed002?

G.A.G.U.S {Ed002's Note - I am not sure that they would want to bid that much but I rather think that there may be interest. Certainly Simonian thinks so and certainly both clubs made an offer for him before he move to Italy.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I cannot see United parting with £40m for Pastore, if they were willing to pay that amount for a player, then I am sure Modric would have been top of the wish-list. Ed, what do you believe Modric would cost? What is this 'crazy' price that Harry is talking about? £35m? I know it would be guesswork on your part, but how much do you think Spurs will hold out for? Especially if Chelsea are out of the running.

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - I struggle to see Modic at more that £25M I am afraid Syd.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That maybe what you value him at, but what do you believe Spurs would let him go for Ed? They turned down a £22m bid from you guys pretty sharpish. What do you think they would deal on?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - It would be guess work. It is also dependent on whether or not he wants to leave and who else is interested. It would probably need to be on the wrong side of £30M though - and £40M north of Luton.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I have no doubts that United would pay £30m for Modric, perhaps £2m-£3m more. But I think they would look at Nasri first if he does become available.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2011 15:40:15
United will still bolster the squad with at least one further addition.

Luka Modric IS SAF's primary target, despite the player stating how much he loves London, I think it would be a totally different conversation if United had madce a concrete offer very few players would turn down Fergie However I would concded that right now its unlikely but I think if Modric does want to leave Spurs we would be right in the mix.

Samir Nasri, doubtful in my opinion. Wenger has said he won't sell him to us. Then again why would he sell to City who are quite possibly going to overtake the Gunner? But, A.C and Inter would be interested im sure besides I still think that heres a genuine chance he could stay at Arsenal, anyone remember the Rooney saga?

Finally if Tevez as expected leaves City perhaps for Real there could be an opening for Benzema to head to Old Trafford? Particuarly as Neymar and Adebayor have continued to be linked with Madrid too.

Believable7 Unbelievable10

No way, ...
Nasri and one more backup midfielder.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get one thing straight if Nasri wants to join United Wenger can do nothing because players have all the power and he will probably tell Arsenal he will sign a pre contract agreement with us in January and go for free believe me the owner will sell him
ARB {Ed002's Note - That of course would be illegal and result in the player being heavily fined and Manchester United suffering a transfer ban. Great plan.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry ED illegal is not correct if he does not sign a new contract he walks free
next season exactly the way Flamini did two years ago I may have worded it poorly but players have all the power I am afraid (which I am not saying is right)
If he does not sign I do not see how Wenger can decide where he goes
ARB {Ed002's Note - Quite frankly you do not understand how pre-contract agreements work. It is nothing like the situation with Famini. It is illegal for Nasri to sign a pre-contract with Manchester United in January. Perhaps you should read up on the rules before bleating at me.}

I've heard that United are in discussions with Sunderland over a possible swap deal involving Asamoah Gyan to United, O'Shea, Gibson and possibly Brown going to Sunderland, with Welbeck also going back there on loan for another season.
This then makes Bebatov available to move to either PSG, Seville or Malaga.
Apparently SAF has been impressed with Gyan, and believes he will fit United's quick tempo style of play.

Believable6 Unbelievable28

I would love to see that as i really rate Gyan and feel in our team with the chances given to him that he'd easily score 20+ goals a year, but i don't think it's likely to happen. Sunderland rate Gyan at over 18m and have offered 11m for O'Shea Gibson and Brown i don't think they would feel in affect paying 7m to have Welbeck on loan for a year would be good business. but i do really hope we could work something out to bring Gyan to OT.

Believable10 Unbelievable18

We never had any serious interest in Costa. I hear Chico has the no 9 Shirt so I think Berba will be going and we will sign one foward and Midfielder

Agree0 Disagree0

We had a very serious interest in Costa 2 seasons ago but his Brazilian club were demanding silly money. He then went to Shakctar for about a 1/3 of the price we were being quoted 6 months later

To be honest i think this who will sign next is a bit of a mess.

Sanchez wants Barca have no doubts about it but the club want the most money. Do we want a player who will ultimately always be looking at a move to Barca?

Nasri does want to come to Utd but Wenger will do everything he can to stop it apart from let him see out his last year and go free. Trouble with that is, if he becomes a free agent he may look at more clubs than the ones who are willing to currently stump up a decent transfer offer.

Modric has already said he wants to go to Chelsea some time ago. Since this I believe SAF has diverted his attentions more to Nasri and Snijder.

Pastore is just a space filler for the gossip column.

Sneijder I think will be the eventual signing. If you look at the role he plays, it is the closest to scholes style of the Keane Scholes era that was obviously the best partnership for SAF's reign.

Schweinsteiger would be a fantastic buy even up to 30-35M but I just can't see it happening.

I also see Berbatov going as part of this expected big signing with Wellbeck and Macheda coming back (and Owen). After the success of Rooney and Hernadez, Dimi won't really get much of a look in for big occasions. With Nani and the addition of Young who can both play as forwards, Dimi is a good chip to play as a deal breaker as the other team doesn't need to go through the process of finding and signing another player (and is a good player). The way SAF appears to be setting the team Dimi sticks out in my opinion as a square peg in a round hole.

This sudden pool of attacking mid / forwards make the team very flexible and unpredictable to other managers.

My calculated view for the remaining window is Sneijder coming in for Berbatov plus cash. Dimi's style is very well suited to Serie A.

Wellbeck, Macheda and Cleverly to return.

Brown, O'shea, Gibson, Kuzsack to go. I think this is already set up. Certainly some movement to Steve Bruce's Sunderland once the new Utd player deal is in advanced stages.

Do you not think that the Sneijder transfer fee and wages will be a problem? Remember City will now need to appease their fans after the Tevez debacle, and how better to do that than to beat us to one of our biggest targets?

Id like to see Nasri and Sneijder, but not sure it would fit our system.

I think it depends on how mercenary/greedy the players are. I can see Sneijder possibly looking for the prestige rather than the cash. Only they know?

I think that Nasri & a defensive midfielder (maybe M'Vila) would be great signings for United

No Sneijder is looking for the cash, that is well established as he has demanded 200k a week to join a club in England. Since then City & Chelsea have cooled their interest in him.

Sneijder won't fit into United's system unless they go 4-2-3-1 or something along those lines because Rooney was playing in that deeper role behind Hernandez. Personally, i'd rather spend big on Modric or Schweinsteigar they would be perfect in the centre on our midfield.

I see Paul Scholes stating that he hopes Nasri signs for united.
I think that can only be taking in a good way as its unusual for players (I know scholesy is an ex player) to come out speaking about possible transfers.
I have a feeling united are quite confident of getting Nasri what do you think Ed ?? would you read anything into scholes speaking about Nasri or was he just giving his opinion ?? I also heard on talksport thats its 50/50 Modric or Nasri to sign for united...Have you any info Ed 002 ??

Red Knight. {Ed002's Note - I expect that Arsenal will be trying to put together a case that will have Nasri sign up for a new contract. Whetehr or not they can do that will I am sure become clear soon. I certainly don't know of any enquiries for the player at this time.}
