Last night I watched the full replay of the first game on mutv. One thing struck me, apart from the superbly taken goal and the free kick tgat narrowly missed, Ronaldo actually didn't do much.
The players when ran the show were ozil khadeira and to some extent Alonso. Everytime the ball came near our defence they just booted it up the field, simple headers were given straight back to Madrid. We need to keep possession a lot better and we also need to close down the midfielders a lot quicker. Jones will be missed.
Also, I know a load of posters think he's not united level, but danny welbeck was a constant thorn in their side and they did not know how to handle him. So he's worth a starting roll.

Jones will be missed in a defensive sense but, as for keeping possession, Cleverley (if he starts) will do a much better job.

Ronaldo could have scored three that game. The key is stopping Ozil, he will be the deciding factor.
The problem is that we give don't keep possession against the very best teams like we used to, which is where we are missing someone in CM. It's almost like we are happy to do that and we always end up defending too deep. We rely purely on our prolific strikers, which could come undone against the top teams. Seems to have got us on a very good run since the end of Nov though so let's hope it continues.

Ha no worries Supasub, I do usually have bran flakes but ran out. Will be really interested to see our line up and squad as well, have a sneaking suspicion SAF will pull out a surprise of either Jones or Scholes. Really hope both of them are in the squad.

Welbeck is a good player but he desperately needs a better end product to his efforts at goal. Hopefully that will come with age and experience.
