ed is there any truth in the gotze rumor, and do you think any stars will be coming into old trafford any time soon? {Ed002's Note - Don't hold your breath over Goetze. Arsenal, Manchester United and Barcelona have already been knocked back by his club and the player himself has made it abundantly clear that he wants to stay at Dortmund for this season. Real Madrid may be able to persuade him to move. He has identified his favourite teams as Barcelona and Arsenal. There is also interest also from AC Milan - and I suspect that they are shifting their interest in Ganso to Goetze due to persisting non-EU quota issues. There may be some, so far unpublisized, interest from elsewhere coming up soon.}

Rumour has it that Goetze was to hold talks about his future at Dortmund. He recently has said that he wouldn't mind going to a bigger club should an offer from a bigger club come in.

However, I don't think that Fergie will be after a midfielder anymore considering Rooney has played great in that position. Cleverley will partner with Rooney in midfield when he returns from injury. We'll see Welbeck starting alot more games with Hernandez aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Keeping rooney in midfield would be a terrible idea, no matter how well he plays there, it is not his best position

Agree0 Disagree0

This is what i was thinking when rooney first played in midfield against otelul, cleverley and rooney could work nicely, want welbeck to get more game time too.

How would keeping him in midfield be a bad idea? His passing is terrific, he's good at keeping possession because of how strong he is. When he loses the ball... he gives everything to win it back and 9 times out of 10 he does win it back. He has everything you need to be a quality midfielder. I think that's the closest we're going to get to replacing Scholes anyway.

Rooney's passing and Chicharito's finishing is enough to cause a threat to any team.

Not only that, but Welbeck is cropping up with goals just when we need them aswell. The more game time he gets... the better he'll get.

Agree0 Disagree0

Midfield isn't his best position obviously but seeing as we have a midfield crisis and rooney is our best player even when played in midfield (88% pass rate against Galati with i think 97 passes?) fantastic record. While having two young strikers both playing well, why wouldn't you wanna bench either of them? It's the only way i see us reviving our form we started the season off with.

Then United would need to buy Benzema or Cavani to partner Hernandez in attack.

______Chicho__Cavani

But personally I would prefer to go with this line-up as I am positive Pogba could play just as good, if not better than Rooney in the holding role, however that would not mean we still couldn't buy a striker.

There are options with what we have got if SAF would take a chance on Pogba and when Cleverley returns.

I think Pogba is over-rated myself. He's played a couple of Carling cup matches and everyone's hyping this lad saying how good he is... but, he doesn't stand out from anyone else when he's playing.

Morrison is one of the younger players that stands out for me. He won't make it into the first team yet though because he's a winger and at the moment... Nani and Young are on form and while Young is injured Valencia or Park can cover.

No doubt he'll be one for the future though.

Agree0 Disagree0

You clearly know very little about football and Manchester United as Morrison has not played as a winger for some time now.

Also if you actually pay attention to Pogba when he's playing he's always very calm and composed, with his physique and power he's perfect as a holding midfielder.

Ozwald

It's not possible to judge Pogba yet. Looks great against kids and reserves, but in the small amount of League cup time he's played, he's been invisible. I think Rooney's looks good in midfield, but Chichareto isn't really very creative around the box, more just a poacher. So when Rooney plays midfield we have trouble scoring. He's better working his magic as a 2nd striker, in the hole as they say. When he's not scoring, he's creating for others. We are still 2 players shy of being up to our usual standard. We need someone like Tiote, a real midfield destroyer and a Ganso a real creative midfielder. We need another £50m injection of players. I hope Morrison and Pogba come good, but no one really knows as they have only played against kids and 2nd string players. I think Tunnicliffe is the most likely youth midfielder to make it at OT. Then I don't really know as I haven't kept tabs on him at Peterborough, though they are doing well result wise.

Gentlemen/women, what do we know of Kwadwo Asamoah the Ghanain at Udinese ? From what little I've seen he seems Essienesque. Boy could we do with someone like that.
Ed, do you know if there's any solid interest ?

Pip {Ed002's Note - Like Arsenal, Napoli, PSG, Manchester City and Nice, Manchester United have had Kwadwo Asamoah watched. I don't know that there is much more to it right now.}

Believable7 Unbelievable4

Asamoah is more attackive then essien. he can play defensive but essien or annan does that for ghana and isla does it for udinese. like most african players he has a great engine and just keeps running. if utd bought him i would still see another midfielder being bought in also. mvila would be a gd defensive midfielder and with options like asamoah cleverley fletcher and the youngsters it wouldnt be too bad.

GMN

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel he could be perfect for us and seeing as he is a very rounded footballer(attacking and defensive) then we might not need anyone else in midfield, especially with our youngsters coming through(Pogba being more defensive and Morrison being more attacking). He could be the perfect option. But i'll trust whoever Sir Alex decides to bring in.

Can anybody tell me the situation with Pogba's contract situation. Alot of reports have him leaving the club, that would be a massive mistake for us.

Believable11 Unbelievable5

If he wants to leave that badly then i think fergie shud sell him to napoli or dortmund swap deal for pogba and hamsik if he joins napoli or pogba and gotze if he joins dortmund wat say ? {Ed002's Note - The exchange deals are a non-starter. As I previously explained I don't see Manchester United wishing to sell him, but enquiries by an "associate" of Pogba have been made with two French clubs as to the amount of first team football he would have if he were there. One of those clubs was Marseille. This is likely to be no more than a negotiating tactic, and probably bad advice.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't believe anything you read in the papers. Just the media trying to stir things up. Actually might be a good thing tho if it does get fergie into thinking etc and he decides sooner than later that he has to give pp more first team chances. If we do lose him fergie will have a lot of unhappy fans asking questions including myself!!

Robbo

Agree0 Disagree0

It would appear that we have no choice. If he doesn't renew his contract he is free to sign a pre-contract with another club.

Pip

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would you be unhappy? he's played a couple of games and hasent realy done anything that good, plus if he wants to go, f*** him, he doesnt deserve to wear the shirt after wanting to hold us ransom after a couple of mediocre games!

Daily Mirror reporting Pogba refusing to sign a new deal with Inter and AC interested

Believable7 Unbelievable9

Does anyone have any further information regarding this? Thanks SHRIMP

Agree0 Disagree0

Manchester United are trying to hold the young Paul Pogba (18), arrived two years ago from Le Havre. According to the Mirror, the midfielder could soon find a new team, because his deal is close to end. The player this year has played only in one competition of Carling Cup against Leeds.

This is all i could find, nothing about a refusal to sign but this lad needs to play more, we carn't risk losing him... HERBIE

Thanks mate. SHRIMP

I dealt this is about money, more about playing time and fergie must play him if this is the case. The boy must be given this opportunity.. or we may loss him and this would be a massive mistake.

He is already better than some of our midfield so why is he not playing...

Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is in the middle of a tug-of-war between Italian giants AC Milan and Inter.

The French midfielder, 18, is refusing to sign a new deal at Old Trafford – as Football Spy revealed – and both the Serie A clubs are looking to sign him on a pre-contract in January.

United want to hang onto Pogba, but the cash in Italy may be too great for him to resist.

Sir Alex Ferguson had Pogba on the bench for the Champions League clash with Otelul Galati in midweek, but Italian sources believe his head may be turned by bigger wages and first-team football.

Pogba's contract has never been officially released so these papers are purely speculating. From what I gather, his contract runs out in about 18 months, at the end of the 2012/13 season. I think he will be offered a similar contract to what Chicharito and Welbeck first had. It will start off quite low, I'd say around £15k a week, with a view to significantly increasing that within a year, much like Chicha and Welbeck have both done.

United have made an enquiry for their loan starlet Richmond Boakye.
The Serie A outfit signed the Ghana striker back in 2008 following a youth tournament in Italy.
After turning 18 earlier this year, they opted to loan him this summer to lower league outfit Sassuolo.
And Boakye has impressed hugely in Serie B with six goals in just 11 games, which is now already leading to speculation about his future.
Preziosi has now claimed that there is already huge interest in Boakye with Juventus and United both linked.
"Is it true that many clubs are already finding out about Boakye? A big Italian company (understood to be Juventus) and a great English one, Manchester United, have already asked me because he is very strong," he confirmed to Corriere dello Sport.
