if there's going to be any major money signings in the summer I believe bale should be signed, 50 million or add a player to the deal to lower the money, he's the ultimate player for united, in the big games he works hard and tracks back and then the counter attack he would be a tank. if not him who would you suggest?

Believable50 Unbelievable7

If we are to spend 50m on one player from the prem then surely the only real candidate is Jack Wilshere.

Shappy

Agree2 Disagree0

I'm a huge fan of Bale but can't see us splashing that much cash on one player. Hope I'm wrong. Rodriguez could be available for around half of that so could be a good option if we are to buy a winger.

Gav

Agree1 Disagree0

Wilshere and bale are the two players we need most. But by their own wishes or by the wishes of their clubs, neither will join us. I don't think Rodriguez is what we need he is not a pacey winger for the left side he is more like a wide striker. I would ideally like one of the following for midfield: Wilshere, Fabregas or Modric but Strootman is our next best option. Ronaldo, Bale, Di Maria, Robben in that order for a winger.

I wonder if we could persuade Fabregas to join us as he knows RVP well and is not getting much game time at Barca.

Dan

Agree0 Disagree0

Gav is rodriguez actually that good, when I youtube him I can hardly find any videos, and never get to see porto so haven't really seen him, but if you think about it a bid of 30 million plus young&welbeck would be accepted, then you can replace welbeck with lewandowski for a cheap price due to contract length getting very short

Agree0 Disagree1

Nani plus 30- 40 mil for bale sound fair

Agree0 Disagree1

I've thought 4 a couple of seasons we should try and get Bale but with the way he's performing now his pricetag would put us off and there's certainly no way spurs would deal with us anyway. The only thing that annoys me is city will probably go for him this summer and there sugar daddy will pay whatever the price! He's the in form winger in Europe at the moment IMO. Agree with other posters on wilshere aswell looks suited to our style.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have always kept my opinion about player very clear whether I support some player or don't trust any player for some position.
Like full support for anderson. Ddg. Rafael
Or against carrik and evra.

In here full support for bale.

Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

He would be my ideal signing.

For me, he is the one thing United actually lack in midfield - DRIVE!

The main thing we lost when we lost Ronaldo was a player who could pick up the ball and create panic. This creates so much space for the remaining players to operate in and allows for increased movement in the attacking line.

Sadly, you can't see Tottenham being willing to let him move to another Premier League club. Especially when there is almost certainly going to be interest from Madrid, a location Bale is obviously intent on arriving at during his career.

Also, not as if we have a great working relationship with Tottenham these days when it comes to transfer dealings. Perhaps Giggs could have a word.

can't believe someone suggested robben

Agree0 Disagree0

Noname

I've only seen Rodriguez 2 or 3 times and also heard a lot about him. He'd not improve our team to level Bale would immediately (especially coming from a different league) but that's why he would cost close to half the amount. From what I've seen and heard he is a tricky, pacey wide man-come AM'er who can score goals. So he might be a decent option seeing as IMO we have no chance of Bale.

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

Players who worth 50 millions in PL? What about Mata? Silva? YayaToure? Rooney?

Agree0 Disagree0

Bale is better than most of them players mentioned above, he plays left wing and that is a place which needs replacing since ronaldo has left

Just watching the England game on 65 mins and wanted to make a couple points.

Whoever didn't respect the minutes silence is an absolute disgrace, I was fuming. Wish they could use CCTV to ban any disrespectul sh!ts from going to Wembley again. Who are these!d!ots?

On a lighter note, impressed with Rooney tonight - looked bright, done some nice interplay, scored the first, helped set up the 2nd and he even looked like he had a bit of pace at one point!

Lastly, Wilshere is so talented and I love watching him play. Arsenal have a real star in the making there.

Gav

p. s. Baines may not be as good defensivey as Cole but he's already looked more dangerous than him in the attacking 3rd since half time.

a website Germany say Lewondowski has already agreed personal terms with Bayern now it is just a matter of agreeing a fee with Dortmund.

MANRED

Believable15 Unbelievable18

Not suprised. I don't see how or why Manchester United will go for lewandowski even after all the rumours. fergie has massive trust in welbeck and hernandez as back up to rooney/rvp

man utd will go for 2 midfielders in summer no strikers

red devil x

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't you have to agree terms with the club before they give permission to speak to the player?

Agree1 Disagree0

This is the position we are least likely to sign anyone in! A winger? Definitely. Central midfielder? Hell yes. Fullback? Likely. Centre half or keeper? Maybe. Striker? Really, really unlikely.

If Manchester United could sign one of either Kevin Strootman or Victor Wanyama in the Summer which one would you prefer?
Andy H

Believable10 Unbelievable4

I would go for Victor Strootman, oh wait, no I would go for Kevin Wanyama!

On a serious note I would probably go for Kevin Strootman.

Sydney!

Agree1 Disagree0

Wanyama, though I'd love both

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Feb 2013 13:24:34
I can't see no reason why we couldn't get both. Neither of them would command a huge fee or massive wages. And the money saved in wages with sales and retirements would easily cover wages. Both do different roles and both would get plenty of games over a fifty to sixty game season. Sorry that's not answered your question.

Agree1 Disagree0

Strootman

ms85

Agree0 Disagree0

Wanyama 100 per cent different class

Agree0 Disagree1

Wanyama is a beast he owned barca for celtic kaylem1300

Agree1 Disagree0

Strootman

Agree0 Disagree0

If I had to make a choice I would go for wanyama but I rate both very highly.

Agree0 Disagree0

Strootman for me, he's the more complete player.

Simmo

Agree0 Disagree0

Strootman can play anywhere in midfield. He is more of a complete player, while Wanyama is a beast in the middle of the park.

It's a bit like Roy Keane vs Yaya Toure, and I would take Keane ( Strootman in this case ) anyday.

Mick

Agree0 Disagree0

Not seen loads of either of them, but from what I have seen I'd agree with Simmo's comment. Strootman seems the more complete midfielder - he can tackle, pass, dribble and shoot. Not seen enough of Wanyama but what is his passing like? These days I think any midfielder at the top level needs to be competent at passing and maintaining possession.

Gav

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2013 18:10:44
Wanyama did not own Barca they had fifteen per cent possesssion in both games its only by a huge slice of luck they didn't get hammered in both!

Agree0 Disagree1

Strootman ALL THE WAY

FERDCOAST

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't Strootman the Netherlands vice captain now?

Strootman -strong, can tackle, good control & vision, has a thunder bolt shot. As with most Dutch midfielders they seem to work on technique at a young age. Not blessed with much pace though.

Wanyama -quick, muscle, ball winner & strong in the air. Will be missed African Cup of Nations.

I'd pick Strootman if I had to pick one.

With Scholes & possibly Fletcher not bein around next season they might both be welcome.

I'm sure Jones is more than capable to play DM when needed in a 3 man midfield.

Zaha 10m plus adds
Strootman 17m
Garáy 15m plus Bébé
Spiess 1.5m (Notts County Keeper)

This will be our summer signings.

alex fergy is leaving Manchester utd come the summer no matter what haul of silverware he wins, the Manchester board are miffed at missing out on the former Barcelona boss when he signed with Bayern, now with mouriho leaving real at end of season utd feel they have no alterative but to ask fergy to retire. the criteria the utd board want fits perfectly with the real boss. having won things every where his been speciality in the prem. alexs failure to name a set date is causing concern within the utd power base. they know alex will retire soon but they want to control the situation. so rememeber where you heard this. THE MITCH REPORT************************

Believable8 Unbelievable70

And of course this would be brealking news on today of all days.

secondly I doubt anyones miffed that pep went to Bayern. I bet they were relieved he didn't move to an english club thus biding his time for fergie to stew down WHEN HE IS READY and then step up to the mantle.

Agree2 Disagree0

What a load of b^&&*x

Agree2 Disagree0

The last thing anyone at OT wants is for Fergie to retire, let alone attempting to bring the event forward.

MDJ

Agree3 Disagree0

I agree bottom line is Manchester United board room are business men and like control of situations. fergie

Agree0 Disagree1

I think fergie will retire when he wants. why push him out when he's delivering success on the pitch and creating value for the owners (utd now valued over £3 billion).

he looks to me like he has the energy and the passion to keep going for a few more years yet.

Andrew b

Agree1 Disagree0

MDJ, the most important event awaiting us is the transition from SAF to his successor. It needs to be handled well. If the club want a particular manager to replace SAF and they only have this summer to get him in or risk losing him to a rival then the club will need to move for him. The club is much bigger than SAF. The manager cannot go on for ever however much we want him to, so the club need to be careful about who they bring in and if that means asking SAF to step down for it to happen they will do. SAF will need to put the club first and I am sure he will if he agrees with the choice. What if one day SAF needs to retire due to health reasons immediately and there are no suitable candidates available?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney! If you truly believe that the owners are interested in pushing the manager out, you are insane.

Havintg a plan in place does not mean forgetting your immediate priorities. Should every club be looking to move on any manager over the age of 60 with the impending possibility of illness? No! Does having options avaiable to you mean grabbing at them as soon as possible? No!

Pep was supposedly our number one target and yet he has signed elsewhere. If we were so eager to kland a new manager, why wasn;t Fergie already asked to stand down?

Answer: He is still delivering success on the pitch and, as he has always said, as long as health allows, he will keep on going and going.

MDJ

Agree0 Disagree0

I think this could be fergys last season
Jred

Agree0 Disagree0

MDJ, despite what the manager says he is getting ready to retire and the wheels are already in motion, whether it's this summer or next summer remains to be seen. If the club have one window to get their target and that window is this summer, then they will want to make it happen this summer to avoid missing out on their target. The manager will not announce his retirement years or months in advance, he will retire suddenly to avoid disruption. If he wants to go on til 2014 and the club want Jose Mourinho, then it's certainly possible the club will ask him to step down a year early to get Jose while he is available. Also if you think about it logically, fractions of the club wanted Pep and Pep was available this summer, so it's looking likely this was his last season in charge. Missing out on Pep may have changed that, but if the next manager in their sights is Jose, then the club only have this summer to make it happen or they will miss out on him probably for good. If the club want Jose (and I am not convinced they do) then I imagine this summer the manager will retire.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Jred, I certainly think that was the plan. Pep going to Bayern may have altered things. Tartan kit, statues, Sir Alex Ferguson stand, it was certainly looking like his final season in charge.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

There are only a handful of candidates to take over SAF when the time comes IMO
Pep, mourinh and klopp then I struggle to think of many more
Peps off to munich, klopp is building a fine dortmund team so i'm not sure he'd want it so that leaves morinho.
Mourinho has never built a side although he's obviously top drawer and doesn't tend to stay anywhere more than 3 or 4 seasons. I like jose but i'd want the next manager to want to build something like SAF has and I have my doubts that he would. Thoughts?

BABY FACED ASSASIN

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't see the club ever asking SAF to leave personally. Just an opinion though.

Odd, that no-one above has mentioned Blanc,. a fairly obvious candidate I would think! Everyone seems fixated on others just because they've heard there names mentioned in the papers or on a Champions League highlghts show.
That said I do think there may be something in the original post and for me Mourinho would be the best choice. Football is like any other business and as a businessman I would always employ the most successful person available to fulfil a position. Mourinho has acheived more in ten years than any other club manager in history including Sir Alex and for him one of the few records left to break would be to surpass the great man!
Should, as some on here believe, he was to stay for only 3 or 4 years that at least would give time for someone; who's heart is with the club and is beginning to show signs of excellent managerial ability, to reach a point where he has gained enough experience to take on the biggest job in club football,. . that man being Solskjaer.

Agree1 Disagree0

Here is a thought!
Peps only sign a 2 1/2 year contract with Bayern (ends 2015season). SAF stated he wants two more years (end 2015 season) coincidence? Add the fact our no1 target Lewondowski set to move to Bayern could he be replacing RVP (end 2015 season)?
Like I said just a thought.

Acker

Agree0 Disagree0

How has Mourinho acheived more in 10 years than Ferguson? Mourinho = 20 cups
Ferguson = 48 (as club manager)

Eagle Eye.

Agree0 Disagree0

Eagle Eye, plus SAF built all of his teams from scratch. I am sure if SAF went to the same clubs Jose went to, with the same cash available and inherited the players Jose has inherited, he would have done well too.

Saying that, I wouldn't mind Jose as a stop-gap for someone like OGS with Neville or Keane as assistant.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Acker - I would think you are about right.

I guess we will have to wait till the end of the season to find out. But I would be surprised if Fergie is done.

I would imagine a plan is in place already and, despite what he says, I'm not convinced that Pep's move to Germany was too great of a surprise at OT. Regardless, I simply can't understand this concept that the owners would be pushing the most succesful manager inthe modern era out of the door.

MDJ

Agree0 Disagree0

Sydney,

For me has to be OGS/Blanc with Giggs as assistant.

Would also rather have moyes than Jose.

Eagle Eye

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Feb 2013 21:39:42
Eagle Eye, what I meant was Mourinho has 'pro rata' the superior record 17 trophies in 9 years, Sir Alex 43 in 35 years (6 being the charity sheild).
Now tell who has the better record?

Agree0 Disagree0

No Name,

to me it is clear who has the better record - Fergie rebuilds teams time and time again something that Jose has and will never be able to do. Regardlees of years in the game let's see if Mouriniho can get to 48 cups, I doubt it as he is running out of clubs to manage, no doubt he will soon be picking up frence league cups adding to his record lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fergie bleeds United, he will know and care more than anyone else that the right man will come in next and keep United successful! Think about it.

Ozwald

Agree1 Disagree0

Mourinhos always had a bag load of money though hasn't he. makes lifer easy don't you think? he's to arrogant anyway, would be bored in 3 years and cause grief like he always does!

ms85

Agree0 Disagree0

I keep telling you guys its a done deal with Moyes like it or not he is going to replace Fergie end of next season which for me is the right choice also I think Jose will go Psg along with Ronaldo Katef.

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel that pep only took a short contract to coincide with fergie's retirement and the club has the chance to see how he does at another club. For moyes I can't see him coming to OT because of the style of football, apart from baines and pienaar's link play down the left all they do is hit long balls. I personally think it will be Pep but there is no chance of Fergie being pushed out of the club if he don't want to go, it would be frownd on by everyone involved in football as a disgrace.

Keyz

Agree0 Disagree0

On a slightly pedantic point, its SAF, Sir Alex, boss, Gaffer even Fergie, but come on Alex fergy! Respect please.
