So the Times, Telegraph & Guardian all believe Nasri is going to United or at least favourite to go to United. The Sun & Mail believe he is going to City and the Mirror believe Arsenal will not sell him. I am not sure I believe any newspaper, but I would certainly believe the first three over the last three.

Believable16 Unbelievable10

06 Jul 2011 23:09:43
The Times are reporting that United put in a 20m bid for Nasri 2 weeks ago. If true this would suggest that Nasri's representatives have given United the green light and that Nasri's tactics will be to ask for a move to United (like Modric to Chelsea) but he is in a much better position. He can tell Arsenal that they can sell him for 20m or he will leave for nothing next year

The Times going with a story that Nasri will tomorrow tell Wenger that he wants to come to us and that we put in a formal bid of £20m 2 weeks ago. What do people + Ed's think who Fergie's number 1 midfield target is?

Believable16 Unbelievable4

Just a side note - Nasri will say he wants to leave, not necessarily that he wants to come to us.

Manchester United enter race to sign £7M Toulouse ace Moussa Sissoko (TalkSPORT) Can't really say i've seen him play, he any good you knw ed? {Ed007's Note - From what I have seen (which isn't too much) he looks a good player, probably someone else could help more than me............}

Believable6 Unbelievable8

Sissoko looks to be a real good player IMO.

He looks to a real box to box type player with a great engine can defend and likes to break from midfield past the striker at times.
At 7m would be a bargain for a full french international who is quite physical has a good touch and could improve no end...only 22 too.

You lot are off your rockers if you genuinely believe you'll get this guy for £7M.

Irish Daily Star has a page filler today saying we are going for Sweinsteiger if we miss out on Modric/Nasri/Sneijder for a fee of around 33m and maybe Berba to sweeten the deal. Would love to see him at OT think he would slot in no bother at United we wait and see. Probably just paper talk.

So much for the 2 medicals booked for this Tuesday gone by that were being talked about on the forum. {Ed007's Note - Bastian Schweinsteiger will be the same age as Sneijder by the time the season starts, is that good value for money? There will be no sell on value on the player :-)

Believable8 Unbelievable7

I thought the medicals were for sometime this week. I don't think a specific day was mentioned, was it?

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Value you for money I think so. As schweinsteiger gets older his age won't affect his play that much as we all know he is incredibly slow, I know sneijder isn't the fastest but I don't think the years will be as kind to his style of play. {Ed007's Note - I was being sarcastic after the age thing got mentioned about Sneijder earlier. So sign a player that is already "incredibly slow" and see him become slower as the years take their toll??? Am I missing something here?}

Agree0 Disagree0

There was 2 bookings set for bridgewater center but city use it as well for there's and they had 2 signings this week might just be coincidence but i think that bit of info about medicals booked all be it true was mixed up sadly

Manchester United have entered the race to sign Toulouse ace Moussa Sissoko, according to sources in France. Source - Talksport, sounds official now.... HERBIE

Believable9 Unbelievable11

Moussa Sissoko (born 16 August 1989) is a French football player of Malian descent who currently plays for French club Toulouse in Ligue 1. He plays as a box-to-box midfielder capable of playing in either the holding role or as an attacker. Sissoko is described as a "well-rounded central midfielder" who is "tall, rangy, and strong in the tackle".[1] His playing style and ability have drawn comparisons with the Malian international Mahamadou Diarra and former French international Patrick Vieira.[2][3]

Sissoko began his football career playing for local youth clubs in the le-de-France region, such as Esp rance Aulnay and Red Star FC. In 2002, he moved down south to join professional club Toulouse. Sissoko spent four years in the club's youth academy and made his professional debut in the 2007 08 season. He also played in the UEFA Champions League for the first time. In the following season, Sissoko earned award nominations for his performances and also helped Toulouse qualify for the newly-created UEFA Europa League.

Sissoko is a French youth international having played at all levels he was eligible for. In August 2009, he was called up to the senior team for the first time and made his senior international debut in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification against the Faroe Islands.[4] He made his first international start four days later in a qualifier against Austria.

Good player. Him M'villa or Schweinsteiger. In my opinion a tougher more defensive midfield player should be the No.1 target. Forget about overpayed journeymen like schnieder.

If we go for a creative attacking Mid player it should be someone young like Hazard, Kagawa or Jovetic.

Sneijder is coming to United, that is all. Same person that told me about De Gea months ago

United Till I Die 1987 {Ed004's Note - You were sure Sanchez was coming, what happened there?

Believable27 Unbelievable18

Ed - Sanchez was certainly on the radar till Barca stepped in, so give the guy a brak (albeit a little one)

Agree0 Disagree0

HAHA love that you called him on it Sure it was Sanchez was "on the radar" - so are a lot of players - it doesn't mean he is definitely coming does it

Agree0 Disagree0

You idiots need to get it into your heads that just because a source gets 1 transfer right... that doesn't mean they will get everyone right. Sneijder isn't coming to United because he wants £150,000 a week and United can't afford it. They got Rooney on £250,000 a week. They're planning on spending £25m on a hospital at the training ground and they're also expected to come to re-new their contract with nike which will cost £400m over 5 years. We cannot afford the wages on Sneijder and I can't see him taking a pay cut to join us. {Ed012's Note - The new Nike deal won't cost us anything, it will actually give us £40m+ per season}

Agree0 Disagree0

How will re-newing a sponsorship deal COST United exactly? Think the clue is in the word 'sponsorship'....have a think about it and come back to us

Agree0 Disagree0

He had a think and has had to lie down for a bit - He is very sorry and says he will think next time before he opens it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you ever actually looked up how much man utd make a year? they could afford to pay off all there debt in 2 years let alone pay someone 150k/200k a week if saf is that sure he will complete us he will pay the money FACT

Agree0 Disagree0

Wazza is not on £250,000 basic Ir's around £160,000 plus a % of image rights. Just for good measure Young isn't on £130,000 but £80-90,000 and no image rights.

Arsene Wenger will make a shock bid for Owen Hargreaves

Believable25 Unbelievable41

How can you BID for a player who we have let go

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen Hargreaves is a free agent Wenger doesnt need to bid

Agree0 Disagree0

It has been rumoured before this could happen would be a great addition to any team love to see Hargreaves do well as he had no luck with injuries in OT

Agree0 Disagree0

I still don't get why we haven't offered him an extension largely based on appearances or something.
He is the best english midfielder when on form.
I guess SAF had a word with him that he first needs to sort out his squad before knowing whether there is room for him in the 25 man squad.
Can see him still getting an extension, unless the quota is full.

Report from the Guardian:

Rene Meulensteen told the Dutch magazine Voetbal International: "Wesley Sneijder would fit perfectly here. He is the most ideal player for us that I can think of ".

A direct quote from a senior United coach declaring his admiration of Sneijder. This may have more credance than any red top headline me thinks

Press Stupidity
--------------
Some papers are reporting that Man City are celebrating beating us and Chelsea to the signature of Nasri (and for under £20m).
Others are reporting that Arsenal have announced that Nasri is not for sale at any price.
Yet others are reporting Arsenal are seeking bids from major European teams, and will not sell to any EPL rival.
At least two of these stories (and probably all three) is just pure speculation and probably made up by fat lazy journos sitting at their London based laptops dreaming up ways of selling a few more copies. I do not know why we lap it all up - but we do

Fabregas will end up at Real Madrid as they will offer arsenal more money than Barca paving the way for SAF to get Kaka along with Ozil

Believable8 Unbelievable56

I think Kaka is a good option for us. All the others that we have been linked with are all going other directions or costing way to much. Kaka I am guessing would still command around £25-£30 million and wages of about £150k. It would however be a gamble as he is injury prone, but if fit, he is still class. he speaks fluent English too which is a help.
Ozil has stated he wants to remain in Spain, and as he turned us down last year i doubt he will have changed his mind.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kaka will be 30 next season and has had a miserable time at Real. He has has many injuries and his form when he plays is generally poor. The wonderful player he was 3 or 4 years ago, is no more. To pay up to £30m for such a player would be a waste of money. He may be worth a gamble for £10m and £40,000 per week on a two year contract, but I wouldn't even want that.I would prefer someone in the 19-25 year old range. Maybe M'vila and Goetze. One 21 the other 19 we could get both for £40m ish and combined wages of £150 grand. As an all round deal, combining wages and transfer fee, it is cheaper than Sneijder, not a fortune more than Kaka and a shelf life of 10 to 13 years. Kaka would have 3 or 4 years left, if his injuries allow even this and Sneijder, who will be 28 during next season has 5 year at the top. I would have liked Marek Hamsik, but unless we do a last minute smash and grab doesn't appear on. So M'vila and Goetze would be my choice, an attacking and a defensive midfielder to help our excess of wingers out. The idea of Kaka though is a terrible idea, a poor return on a lot of cash. It's time to think of how he is now and not the brilliant player of years gone by
Mik

Agree0 Disagree0

Every element of this rumour is nonsense apart from a proposed interest from Madrid (but lets face it, every club in the world would happily take Fabregas).
United won't want an ageing Kaka, who is unproven in the EPL and arguably in decline.
Madrid will not sell Ozil - he was sensational in his debut season for them.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kaka possbly but ozil will not leave for anything less than 40 million no chance

Agree0 Disagree0

Kaka has slumped since he went to Madrid in my opinion but hey... if any manager can get him back to his best then it's SAF.

As for Ozil... Would be a good signing but Real Madrid rejected a bid for him from United not so long ago and they said he isn't for sale.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kaka will be the worst EPL signing ever, too old, injury prone, and past his best

Looking at some newspapers this morning sneijder transfer is alive again.
Man City wants 50M for Tevez and Inter are really serious to get this man (Tevez).They dont have funds to land the 50M man....And so they have to sell someone before they buy..That has indeed left door open for Sneijder.They want 35M atleast for this aging guy, i think man city will sign him.

If we see our squad, we do have some midfielders, Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson, even park and giggs can play in central role.
So 35M is way too much for 27 yrs old and his wages will be near 175K - 200K a week.
I dont have any source but it is obvious why to go for 35M + 175k+ wages when u have an option of Nasri could be 22M + 130K a week wages. And Nasri has proven in premiership, he can easily score 15+ goals.
And if we still have money left for some transfer get some young lad a left back as a back up for Evra and thats it.

And some of our players also will be moving away from old trafford, Oshea, Gibson, Brown, Kuszczak, Berbatov. This will atleast get us 20M+ in our budget.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome from fellow readers, some experts Sydney and ofcourse our Eds, Ed007 / Ed002...
What does ur source say.??

RedArmy7 {Ed002's Note - For me nothing has changed. I don't see Nasri at Manchester United at all. Both Sneijder and Modic are options, as is the more attack minded Pastore. United need to decide where they wish to place their efforts. If there is interest in Modric then a bid needs to go in immediately and and a quick answer sought. Sneijder has the advantage of being able to step right in and perform at the highest level; Modric is younger, probably cheaper but to a certain extent probably not as "good" as Sneijder in terms of his ability to change a game. Pastore is younger, completely unproven in Northern Europe, more expensive and higher risk. But he is potentially very good indeed. Perhaps Sneijder is the sensible solution, but as a Chelsea supporter I would encourage a Manchester United bid for Modric!}

Believable14 Unbelievable2

Agree Ed002. Sneijder is the closest thing there is to Scholes. Big downside though is his age and cost. 35m plus high salary for a 27 year old isn't usually SAF's style ...can't see it myself. Hey, are we getting to the stage yet when we start convicing ourselves that Charlie Adam is the creative answer in our midfield?....no, perhaps too early for that yet

Agree0 Disagree0

The closest player to Scholes is Modric. I am not saying Modric is a better player than Sneijder, but Modric is the closest thing to Scholes that is available on the market.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree man think sneijder is over priced and over rated, reminds me of nani in that while at times he's fantastic he's more 1 thing right for every 4 moves wrong. Wud prefer nasri over modric as he is more likely to bag some goals. also surprised gourcuff hasn't been mentioned? If fergie is lookin for someone young wit Potential I think phillipe couthino from inter, his style seems similar to that of ozil/modric

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, sydney, rather than spending up to 35m on sneijder/nasri/modric do you think it would be plausable to drop rooney into centre mid and spend the money on a new striker. could maybe land one of benzema/higuain/cavani/hulk for that money {Ed007's Note - Personally, I would love to see Rooney playing just off Higuain and the Wee Pea}

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jul 2011 10:10:43
Ed. If nasri was to choose between city and utd, who would he choose?

Personally i think city

Doni {Ed002's Note - He has to consider the package, the chances of playing regularly, what he is looking to achieve etc.. Have Manchester United made a bid that has been accepted by Arsenal allowing them to put an offer to the player might be a much better question right now.}

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Nasri will stay at Arsenal, One because Cesc is leaving for Barca, Two Nasri will be given Captains band, Three now when there is no Fabregas nasri will be the on highest wages at Arsenal, and four Arsene has started recruiting and looking for potential replacements and new faces.

End of

Agree0 Disagree0

The only reason for him leaving ARSENAL is "to win something"...
@ City i doubt if they'll win anything this year... Chelsea or Utd wub be a better Option for Nasri..

Agree0 Disagree0

'End of'

It seems City have all but signed Nasri. I don't think guff like Gervinho & Samba will convince him to stay.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - You know as well as I do that personal terms would have already been offered via his agent. Nasri would know how much he will get at City and United well before a fee is agreed with his club.

Did Torres know what salary he was going to get before Chelsea made a bid for him? I think we both know the answer to that one. Ed002, a lot depends on Chelsea whether or not United have a chance in signing Modric, he doesn't want to move home. Is Modric still wanted by Chelsea, is he a priority?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - Ah, tapping up by Manchester United. Interesting accusation Sydney.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 all clubs do it nowadays, don't they? I would be naive if I didn't believe Big Sam tapped-up Jones for us. I am not singling out Chelsea as 99% of clubs will find out if the player would accept terms before they go through the kerfuffle of bidding.

Believable11 Unbelievable7

Only if we match the offer and the player wants to join us again as far as I can remember {Ed002's Note - That sounds about right.}

Agree0 Disagree0

That's like any other transfer agreement isn't it. If 2 clubs meet a valuation then the player picks which one suits him...or am I missing something? {Ed002's Note - The difference is that a club would not be invited to match a bid normally.}

Mate Schweinsteiger leaving Bayern is a non-starter according to Honigstein. It's not going to happen, it's lazy journalism. all they have done is identified Schweiny as an ideal player for our midfielder so went with the story.

i just came from Belgium and news up there is about Defour to man united by next week. also i hearrd inter milan are ready to listen man united offer for sneijder.about nasri its 95% he want to come to united unless arsenal and wenger decided to sell him to other team.so for me before the transfer window close were going to sign 3 players
*nasri
*sneijder
* Defour/diara/m'vila the guy from rennes sorry for my spelling mistake, but one of them will be united player.
if man united decided to sell berbatov, will sign another striker.but now the have to sell some players before to sign all those players, by nextweek, wes, o'shea, gibs and polish keeper would be gone, both of them were looking for £20m,

Believable10 Unbelievable14

Sorry, would love to happen, but we've already spent 40M+, sneijder about 35M, nasri 20M and defour/diarra/m'vila would be 20M would just put us even more in debt wouldn't it? it would be great though.

If the ans is 11m defour while city get nasri that will tell you direction we going

The Sun and The Mail claim City have won the race to sign Nasri. Apparently City have offered £20m & £19m respectively and 150k a week wages. I believe United would have offered around 120k a week, so for a measly 15k a week extra he has chosen City. Come on Evra work you magic son.

Dont worry ive heard its all a smoke screen and he will be are's by the end of the week

Agree0 Disagree0

Isn't that a measly 30k Syd? It's more than I earned last year too Think you're right about the smokescreen though and I really hope we get him. On a broader note, I think project Wenger might be about to implode. Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy. Who's next? Interesting article yesterday in the Independent quoting Scholes' view not only on Arsenal, but also about Barcelona. Ryan.

Is it really worth chasing Nasri?? Utd have made the Champions League Final 3 times in the last 4 years, Premier League Champions, FA Cup semi finalists, whereas City 1 FA Cup but Nasri has stated money is no object, its trophies

Yeah righto

Wake up and smell the coffee utd were 9points ahead of city last year take the awful refereeing decisions away ie west brom away Blackpool away Stoke away and many more there wasn't much difference between the two teams now with a full season together and a couple of decent signings city will be a force next season and before you go on about tevez we won plenty of games without him last season including fa cup semi and someone will have to stump up a large chunk of money before he goes anywhere anyway

'Ryan'

15k after tax, come lad wake up.

I knew there was someone in this country who actually something that was written in the sun

Your saying about decisions that was in are favour and granted the 1 against west brom was defo a pen a red card for nev but i seem to remember the penalty at eastlands against newcastle that was a yard outside the area the goal you had at blackpool when tevez was a good few yards offside it's give and take there was decisions that both clubs didn't get and who's to say that both side would not have gone on and won anyway as for you won plenty of games you won without tevez you played 7 without him won 4 lost 3 so your record is not that good and take away the fear factor of playing against tevez it changes a whole teams way of thinking city concede less without him but the man score's i think it was over 40% of your goals which is almost double than what any other player does for any team...this may sound strange to hear from a united fan but tevez is a fantastic player and there are not many who could replace him so coffee smelt and i still think we will make it 20 next year

I wouldn't believe a newspaper.
Newspapers have already stated that Manchester United are going to spend 910 million pounds on players already, naming 64 different people.

Wait until it appears on SSN or a club website.

IMO, Nasri will either stay or go to us.
City won't win anything significant next season while we'll more than likely win the league/champo league/FA Cup.

The mirror are saying that Arsenal have told Samir Nasris representatives that he is NOT for sale and will remain at the club.
