Xabi Alonso's contract expires at the end of this season so does anybody think it would be worth trying to sign him for next year? Obviously he's a man nearing the end of his career but may be able to get a good few seasons out of him? Edd002, I know Liverpool and Chelsea are obviously keen or taking him but have you heard anything about us possibly being interested? {Ed002's Note - I really don't see it happening myself. I see Alonso's options as Galatasaray (can't see him moving there now), New York Red Bulls, Colorado Rapids or LA Galaxy (all possible) and finally Real Sociedad (in the future perhaps). I can't say the most likely thing to happen but I could give an opinion that he will move to the MLS (maybe the NY Red Bulls) and then return to Spain to end his career with Real Sociedad, picking up a minor toe injury in early March 2016.}

Eds as far as I know we made an approach for Khedira over the summer, does he remain of interest? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea spoke with Real Madrid about Khedira and whilst the club were willing to let him leave the player was looking to stay in Madrid. That may now have changed. Additionally, the price being asked for him in the summer was well beyond what Chelsea would pay but a representative of Real Madrid made an approach to someone from Chelsea who is considered to be very influential whist they were both in the Middle East for the U17 competition. This was to explore several potential options in relation to Khedira and Real Madrid's desire for a Chelsea player. The club is continuing to look to raise cash but will consider other options - as they did in the summer. It is true that a representative of Manchester United made a verbal bid that was well below the valuation that Real Madrid had put on the player. I am told that if there is any serious interest from Manchester City, it will result in an immediate counter bid for Aguero as part of a deal.}

Carvalho of sporting Lisbon seems to be getting more and more coverage surrounding a move this January or in the summer. Not seen anything of him but appears to be highly thought of but maybe with potentially a hefty price tag. The teams suggested as interested are us, juventus and I think Monaco (and I'm guessing PSG). Would any eds know of any interest from united? {Ed002's Note - Saint Etienne have shown an interest in Carvalho.}

Moyes seems to be getting a bit of stick for the performance last night, but let's be honest over the past few years there where plenty of performances like that under fergy away from home in Europe

We're in good form. Can Moyes take blame for penalty miss or Hernandez sitter?

Agree2 Disagree0

He can take the blame for starting Fellaini! And worse again not taking him off! Not for the fact he was useless but the fact anybody with half a brain cell could of seen there was a red card coming his way the DONKEY!

Any news on a possible transfer for Pjanic in january? I personally think he would be the ideal replacement for Scholes!

cockney red {Ed002's Note - PSG and Manchester City remain keen on the signing of Miralem Pjanic. Spurs are aware that he could be available at the right price - but that is very high. Manchester United also made an enquiry in the summer, but it went nowhere. Dortmund seem to have dropped their interest. It would take a very significant bid for him to move in January.}

Eds, thanks for the great site.
Lewandowski has been quoted today on BILD as saying his decision to join a new club in the summer has been made and he knows where he is heading.
Do you know if this is Manchester United? Do the club have a chance of signing him?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - I would ignore it and any hype that goes with it for now.}

Thanks Ed.
I am a big Kagawa fan, would be a shame for him to leave in January, do you think he will stay on past January? {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what the original question had to do with Kagawa, but I expect he will stay the rest of the season.}

Are we interested in sergi roberto?who do ye think could come in during the January window?ed002 if you are free do you know of areas where moyes wants to strengthen between January and the summer?thanks guys. {Ed002's Note - There is a little interest in Roberto who is being offered around but none from Manchester United. Garay remains of interest. I would think that any further attempt for Baines is unlikely - and the club may look to Coentrao again at some point. Don't discount Herrera. If you want a wildcard for January, right now don't discount an offer for Konoplyanka if others move for him. Anything else will depend on departures.}

Ed002, the last point you made is so true and so frustrating for us fans. If we cannot offload the players Moyes no longer wants, then we will not buy the players we need. How long have we been trying to offload Anderson and Nani now? We struggled to sell Berbatov after he scored 25 goals for us and won the golden boot. MU struggle to offload players. {Ed002's Note - Folks also need to remember that January is more of a period for patching things up rather than planned sales and purchases. However, this year there are agents who are really trying to mix it with "alternate solutions" of part ownership deals to help ease the financial issues a number of clubs have (particularly in Spain and to some extent in Italy) and to ease some of the FFP pain. Manchester United will likely try to find a buyer for Anderson in Portugal or offer him up as part of a deal perhaps. I am informed that the interest in Nani is still there from Galatasaray and Kuban Krasnodar are also interested but the player is reluctant to consider a Russian club at this time.}
