If anyone is wondering about strikers then the euro page has a good update about several names. Mitrovic is of recent interest to us according to Ed. Worth a read, very informative.

Eds, with otimendi agent saying he would be playing for a different club before ramos left Madrid, it would appear a deal with someone already . do you see him being the next announced deal this week ?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - I reckon there is still a good chance he will be signed and I can't see any other club paying 30+ mill for him}

Thanks ed! Apologies for starting all the arguments on darmain or whatever he's called

Darmian fee has been agreed! Will be a great addition to the club IMO. A versatile young full-back is exactly what we needed. I think a striker and commanding center back and that will be all United need for a solid title challenge! Exciting stuff!

Various reports suggesting we are going to make a bid for muller. Just wondering if any of the eds have any information on this or is it just paper talk. Thanks in advanced .

{Ed004's Note - Ed002 isn't around ATM but there is a good chance that we are trying to sign Darmian}

Hi Ed's, the Express have reported that Everton are after Ogbonna as a replacement for Stones, do you know if this story has any fact behind it? If so are we interested in Stones?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed004's Note - Stones will most likely be staying at Everton for the coming season and that would be the best thing for him imo}

07 Jul 2015 18:42:00
Everton have released a statement saying that the players they'll be bringing in players as extras rather than replacements. From what I can gather he is brought in to strengthen after Distin left for Bournemouth, shame for us but Stones is going nowhere by the sounds of it

Ed 004 do you think berahino is an option for the back up striker position? Young, talented, English and fairly proven in Pl to be fair.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed004's Note - No I don't see him as a potential signing and I don't think he is a target as apparently he has a poor attitude}

Would have rather taken Ings than throwing away money on Berahino!

Been on this site for a couple of years, thought it make up an account and start posting so here goes.

Heard a rumour today that Otamendi is trying to push through with a move to us to be completed by the end of the week.

If it came down to either having Ramos or Otamendi who would you have?

For me it would have to be Otamendi. He is younger, he won't cost as much, as far as I know he seems like he's desperate to play for us and with the Argentinian and maybe the Spanish players that play for us I feel he'd fit in the dressing room easily.

What does everyone else think?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

07 Jul 2015 11:39:07
I'd take Ramos anyday, not that impressed by otamendi but willing to eat my words.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 11:58:45
Both class but like Otamendi as there is more to come. Anyone know of any interest with hummels?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:03:13
IF and that is a big IF RM accepted that 29.6mill bid for Ramos OR we could have Otamendi for 36million then I'd go for Ramos personally.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:10:58
I'd rather hummels but be happy with otimendi

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:13:34
Ramos first choice . But we might be lucky and get both

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:15:14
Why the one or the other theory let's sign both, let's face it our formation need ball playing CBs. Currently we have none, let's sign Otamendi and then if we get Ramos massive bonus if not at least we have one decent CB in the bag. I think our defence is our biggest problem area but hopefully by the weekend Darmian and Otamendi will sign, quickly secure Schneiderlin and we are looking like contenders. not sure what is going on up front with all the rumoured out goings I suspect we have another striker lined up no idea who.

Agree2 Disagree1

07 Jul 2015 12:24:55
Ramos is going no where.his brother is representing him and he is stirring it up for him to get the deal he wants at Madrid, first it started off with Barcelona but everyone knew he wouldn't sign for them so then it moved on to Man United, then United made a few inquiries,he wants a big contract at Madrid and imo will be going no where, and if he gets his contract it's sad the way the his spoilt ego went about it.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:32:53
I'd like both too but just seems unlikely as we have Jones, Smalling, Rojo, McNair, Blackett, and Blind can play there if needed. Not saying that's the greatest bunch of centre backs but I can't see LVG wanting both as his stubbornness will get in the way.

Think our centre back pairing next year will be Smalling as he was improving last season and LVG has faith in him I think (giving him the armband for that game).

And then whoever comes in will be the other.

Obviously comes down to injuries, player form and how they perform in training too.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 12:47:26
I wouldn't want both. Ramos, Otamendi, hummels or another cb to join smalling, Jones, rojo and mcnair I'd be happy with that if honest.

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:20:58
glad someone mentioned smalling.

everyone forgets he was the standout defender and will be a very good defender just needs to be more consistant. he can be our ball player. would prefer ramos tbh

if your looking at age whhy not sign laporte

Agree2 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:31:10
I thought Jones was better but I like them both and I think rojo is class, little battler like evra. Mcnair impressed me aswell if they all step up a notch this year I'd be pleased. Keep Shaw fit to bloody hell as only seen glimpses. United fans can be optimistic in challenging Chelsea I think currently we have a better side than arsenal and citeh.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:39:07
I'd prefer Ramos and i'm not ashamed to say it's purely because I would enjoy seeing them have to sell their most popular player and a player they don't want to sell. Now that our income is matching up to theirs I'd like to see us pillage their players like they've done to us with Ronaldo, RVN and perhaps DDG. Di Maria and Ramos would be a good start.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:49:35
We got decent money sending those players to Madrid. Just got to understand where players are concerned Madrid is a pull let's not think we've not bullied teams also with some targets. The relationship we have with Madrid is fine. Hopefully we stick to our guns no ramos no de Gea and maybe we talk to de Gea and convince to stay.

Agree1 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 13:57:06
It is Otamandi for me if we had to make a choice. He would be suited to Prem and is a good leader.
Have said before though if both actually came off then I think we would have a very good spine to the defense. I would, spend that money if it was possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 15:26:58
Assuming that if Ramos comes in De gea goes the other way in some form or another I would bring in Otamendi. Personally think a back line of:

Shaw, Otamendi, Jones, Darmian (seems pretty done)

De Gea

Looks a lot stronger than:

Shaw, Ramos, Jones, Darmian

Valdes.

But then I think Valdes is an accident waiting to happen.

Agree0 Disagree1

08 Jul 2015 09:10:50
Yes Red 1993, Valdes had lots of accidents at Barcelona! lol

I would have smalling in the before Jones all day long

07 Jul 2015 15:55:08
brinkley,

Lloris was quoted as saying he works very hard every day so he can play in the champions league. You think that is possible at Spurs or that he was suggesting he is open to a move?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jul 2015 20:42:27
He has suggested that he wants that at spurs! His body language looks good, his words sound very encouraging. Unfortunately I don't think our squad is good enough?? So I expect him to go nxt summer. It's not to you see him in your team you actually realise just how bloody good he is. We think the opposite to you in believing lloris is much better the ddg. As for kane, that's a funny one, he started his season in November/December as a second or third striker. And again it was only last summer that the staff and some of the players believed he was on his way out!! Rendering him not good enough. That is though apart from mopo. Would I take £40m??? Difficult

07 Jul 2015 08:56:07
Certain papers are reporting Bayern Munich are willing to offer Muller, Robben and cash for Di Maria. I would take Muller but not sure if Robben still has it for the premiership? Wonder how much cash as well?

Its bad enough that someone can think of such a story and post it on Twitter. But the worse part is to see how many people are actually believing such s**t and having discussions if they would take this deal.

07 Jul 2015 10:22:04
Sailor, it's a rumour site. I am posting the rumour. Then asking if we would accept it! Concentrate on reading the site and not picking.

07 Jul 2015 10:57:04
You're not too sure robben could do it in the prem? What on earth gives you that impression? Smashed the World Cup, the champions league and the Bundesliga all in the past year.

07 Jul 2015 11:56:18
Also he has played in the premiership if you don't remember

07 Jul 2015 12:18:02
I think ADM could be fantastic this year just by adding Depay means teams will have to worry about both our flanks which will create more space in the oppositions half.

07 Jul 2015 15:44:21
I would swap Di Maria for Robben alone he's that good

I don't know anything about this lad, can someone share their knowledge?

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jul 2015 10:33:29
Matteo Darmian is about 5.11 ft tall Italian Full back that plays for Torino in the Seire A. Can play CB, MF as well as either LB or RB (though he is right footed). His style of play is kind of that of Lahm just that his crossing is a bit like Valencia's. Not sure if he is the best fit for us, many would have preferred Fabinho and we would all have preferred Coleman in an ideal world. That being said I trust LVG to make the right choice with what is available.

Can any of the Eds please give a status update on james wilson. There was a lot of news saying his contract expired at the end of June and there is no information on him signing a new contract. Is he still a united player and if so do the clubs have any specific plan for him going forward? Thank you.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - the only thing I can think is that he must have had a deal that had an option for another year, he has certainly not been released. I honestly don't know for sure about that, I do know his reps have held contract talks and the club want to keep him and send him out on loan. Middlesbrough was the suggestion I heard for him to go on loan to.}

07 Jul 2015 07:16:34
Yeah we fancy the lad but will get first team football on loan which is good for him. Januzaj and possibly mcnair should go although I'd rather see them have game time for us. Depends on our options. Might I add would love to see 352 or 433 again.
