Slow, no tempo, no movement off the ball, predictable wing play. Just like how we played in last seasons champions league. Someone needs to break from midfield and get into the box to support hernandez.

Believable14 Unbelievable4

We need more technical ability in the midfield. Basicly most of the teams in champions league would dominate our midfield. That worries me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Giggs, Nani, Welbeck all dreadful. No service to Hernandez. Rooney looks lost. Too many passes going astray; no attacking threat. Braga deserving their lead so far.
Mike B.

Agree0 Disagree0

So, how did we get away with that, then. Reminded me of the performance against Arsenal - too slow, too predictable, no verve, no meaningful attacking threat.

I thought that Braga were unlucky to lose. What did the 79 year old Giggs contribute to the match (apart from allowing Cleverley to rest for a game)?

I think the third goal was symptomatic of our overall performance - an absolute shambles!

Mike B.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's all about the midfield, or lack of.......

Agree0 Disagree0

This is how you quilify in europe some time you have to grind it out nothing fancy every one slating the players should take a step back and realize were away and nearly quilifed with games coming thick and fast it would be foolish to play a high tempo game using vital energy and our best line up, we won and lets not forget resent teams to win inter and chelsea grinded it out all the way through, we can mix it up and play better in the knockout stages. ps well done to celtic can we please have watt and wanyama on the cheap for next season lol

Agree1 Disagree0

I have been saying this from the begin of Hernandez's career at united, he is the new solskjaer. He has one job and that is to put the ball in the net and doesn't complain about play time or anything and is a team player

Agree1 Disagree0

I totally agree also there is no point playing anderson with giggs next to him as it stops him from playing quick attacking football

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem was giggs. Up untill the last few mins he was constantly playing long disgionals over everyones head and missing them out of the game instead of playing the short passes and bringing others into the game.

When oh when will Ferguson learn that Welbeck at best is an average championship player. Dont care how long he has been at the club, he is not good enopugh and he never will be good enough.

Not understanding the hype about Eriksen. If the media hadn't hyped him up then we wouldn't be paying attention to this guy. I've never seen him look impressive in any of the games I have seen - last night he hardly touched the ball and did very little of note. Don't particularly want him here.

Fresh!

Believable18 Unbelievable7

Sorry mate but eriksen is a very classy footballer whose first touch is up there with players like berbatov . His awareness of space was impressive too and over the course of two matches he made players such as kompany and Garcia look fairly ordinary

Agree0 Disagree0

I Will be very suprised if Eriksen ends up at Manchester United ,his possible destinations will be RM,Barca or AC Milan

Agree0 Disagree0

Shut! Eriksen looks ordinary he was still easily passing and receiving the ball around Kompany and Natastic two quality defenders

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with fresh! He's no better than what we have

Big Mac

Agree0 Disagree0

Hes the kind of player you see in youtube videos and think..... wow he is great.... but when you actually watch him in a real game for 90 minutes its more like... wow he really isnt that good".

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont agree mate, I know the dutch league isnt anywhere near the level of football thats played in England but he is a stand out player. Always wants the ball, very aware of whats going on around him and I think he will be a massive hit at United in a central creative midfield role should we decide to go for him......hope we do.

Doing fine at the moment. Don't seem to be in all that much danger at the back apart from the one effort from Braga. We are in control and I'm sure its just a matter of time before we turn all our possesion into a couple of penetrating attacks that get us the goal.

Also, Wanyama is playing brilliantly against Barca. He's excellent, really gone up in my estimation! I imagine his price tag has gone up a little more too though :( Definitley one to target.

Fresh!

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Wanyamas performance against Barcelona justifies all the hype he as recieved here on this forum. He was brilliant, and for me, he is just what the United midfield need!

Confirmed line up

De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Evans, Evra, Nani, Anderson, Giggs, Welbeck, Rooney, Hernandez
Lindegaard, Rafael, Ferdinand, Carrick, Young, Cleverley, van Persie

Shahram

Believable3 Unbelievable1

Dont like valencia as rb giggs ando and nani is a midfield that will be over run giggs no pace ando sits to far back and nani on rm will leave valencia exposed. rafeal would been beter pick gives more balance to the team.

Christian Eriksen was in my opinion the best player for Ajax last night and given that we're consistently linked with him I think its time SAF bit the bullet and went for him...He'd be relatively cheap and would slot in as easily as RVP has.

Dundalk Red

Believable1 Unbelievable22

I don't see the fuss with Eriksen. To me, he looks pretty average. He is neat and tidy but doesn't have much in terms of pace or killer passing. I've seen him play quite a few times now, always looking to see what everyone is raving about, and he has yet to impress me enough to believe he is worth spending good money on.

TK-Red

Agree1 Disagree0

Relatively cheap? He would cost between £18-25 million probably and it means we would be even more stuck to fit in Rooney, Kagawa, Young, Nani, Valencia, Hernandez, Welbeck, RVP...... I put a team up of 4231 with Eriksen, Kags and Rooney behind RVP yesterday but it would be to central.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't know what you class as an impressive performance, but he did nothing of note and hardly touched the ball.

He could easily take the place of either Carrick or Cleverly. Is a hell of a lot more creative than both of them.

@ Fresh...he was involved in nearly every Ajax move last night. don't know what game you were watching

Dundalk Red

Agree0 Disagree0

Some people must of watched a different game eriksen was involved in every decent bit of ajaxs play

Something I have realised - we can't raid Porto/Malaga in January for Isco or Rodriguez because they would be ineligible for Champions League games; and if we progress far, this would be a huge loss!

Otherwise, in summer they would be perfect buy's. If we can agree deals in Jan and sign in summer, even better.

However, in Jan I can see us signing Shawcross. We do have the buy back option where we have first calls on him, shame we didn't insert the same clause into Pique's contract.

TylerTheRed

Believable3 Unbelievable8

I would rather have them in the league than not at all!

19-20 MUFC

Agree3 Disagree0

You can regester 1 player who has played in the competition with another club in the same season

Agree0 Disagree0

SAF has always said that he regrets letting Shawcross go. He thought Piqué was going to stay so sold him on, but the Piqué left for Barca.

Agree0 Disagree0

Why would it matter if we had the same clause with Pique? He wouldn't want to come back anyway.

Just a quick question for anyone who feels like answering really, Do you think we will sign anyone big during the summer or some youth players with potential and if so who?
I for one think Nani, Macheda and Bebe will be sold and a left footed winger/midfielder will be brought in. No defenders will be bought as wootton will act as cover for any more injuries and Vidic, jones and Smalling are all due back within the next month. I would like munian or isco to come in as both can provide a spark and create something out of nothing, Our style is evolving to a fast paced, short passing, free flowing style, Both players would fit in well but thats just my opinion.
So who (if anyone) do you think we will go for this January?

Believable6 Unbelievable2

I think we should go for victor wanyama, mats hummels and James Rodriguez. Hummels will solve defensive crisis, wanyama would slot in perfectly and Rodriguez to replace nani.

Does anyone know if Fletch is ok? Some reports that he has not travelled and that he missed training? Also any views on Scholes and why he has barely played yet? Is this just Fergie giving others chance and being reluctant to rely on him?

Benj

Believable9 Unbelievable0

Fletch has a cold, scholes is just being rested, being played in a role similar to giggs now with his playing time it seems..

Agree1 Disagree0

I say "yet" about Scholes, I mean recently. He obviously got alot of game time earlier on but not for a good few games...Benj

Just a quick question.. If De Rossi is up for sale what are the chances of us bidding for him? He would be really expensive I'm guessing! How much did city bid for him?

Thanks,

Jamal

"Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson must pay £36m if he is to sign 21-year-old Porto winger James Rodriguez."
From: BBC Gossip

It seems a little too much as he is still inexperienced although top draw. Maybe a 'Player Exchange' wud help or turning too other players wud be better.

Cheers

Believable12 Unbelievable2

I assume when you say player exchange you are talking about Nani?

Porto wouldn't be able to afford his current wages, let alone the wages he wants!

RedDub

Agree2 Disagree0

Doesn't mean they won't accept less.

Supasub

Agree0 Disagree0

Rodriguez will go for around 23 - 24 million.....

theres no way in hell hes done enough to justify a price in exceess of 30million

i really do pray to god we sign him though, wonderful player.....

I'll tell you what, over the last year, and especially over the last few months, I've been warming to Eliseu of Malaga. I think he could do a good job for us....left-footed too.

MPez

Believable7 Unbelievable8

He has phenomenal pace and a great left foot but where do you want him left mid or left back?

Agree0 Disagree1

No chance, Isco yes young playmaker with a bright future Eliseu a nearly 30 year old who has had a handfull of good performances simply no as i dont think we need any signing bar a central mid in the mold of a scholes ,isco is similar to a young scholes playing off the main striker and could prob do a job in the middle. If we could sign anyone within reason {ronaldo messi and players we will never get excluded} i would love us to sign wilshere he is a massive talent that is to good to stay at arsenal were he wont be winning the big compitions and all players wont to win trophys so not that unrealistic plus when scholes does retire he is ready made even tackles like the ginger prince so we wont miss the fun scholsy brings to the middle lol but seriously if he does become unsetteld he is the one to get no player in the english game comes close age skill attitude ticks all the boxes and i think he would take us to the next level and put us in the same league of team quility as barca he will be that good a piece in the jigsaw for us and with rvp here you never know i got a hunch the boss would agree
