I can't wait to see Evans and Smalling playing together regularly, potential to be the best centre half pairing on the planet. Both very good in the air, both good at bringing the ball out of defence, Evans with a silky touch and a technique that looks as if he's gliding, Smalling with pace and power. Evans is also a magnificent passer of the ball, Smalling isn't quite as good, but he's only 22. I don't even want to comment on who I think's better because I rate them both as world class.

cant wait to see jonesy and smalling pairing! vidic and ferdinand on the way out.

You also rate Nani as world class and better than Neymar.....

Percy.... In all honesty I think both could play for Barca or Madrid with ease. If they were Brazilian or Spanish our fans would get behind them but they are not so our 'fans' slate them for one mistake or one bad game in 50.... Chris Smalling imo is going to be the best central defender England has seen perhaps ever and that is saying something and I see him getting a huge money move abroad but I hope not.

You seem to have a strange obsession with my views.

You seem to seem narrow minded, why don't you set up your own site and then you can place each of your concrete views on there?! I agree with the above posts, Evans and Samlling could both play for Barcelona, and I agree that it is only because of their nationality that they are put down.
I also think Cleverley could play for Barcelona in years to come, I am just hoping that doesn't happen.
And G.A.G.U.S has Nani offended you personally in some way, you seem to be the one with the obsession.

Wouldnt agree with both being good in the air as that is the only area of evans game that is weak. If he was as good in the air as big vidic then we wouldnt be conceding as many goals from set plays as we do

Smalling for me is and will be a much better player than evans

Red-tinted glasses there Percy IMO
Would either get into Barca team ?

I think Evens and Smalling are top notch with huge futures in front of them. However, Cleverley just isn't United class~! He has a good engine, but isn't that creative, no great passing or dribbling and isn't blessed with pace. He is also not a strong defensive presence. I think he's going to finish up in a lesser prem team or even in the lower leagues. Of course being a United fan I hope I'm wrong about Tom

How is it then that when cleverley plays we win and when he dosent we look average? He is the only midfielder we have who can pass the ball underpressure, agreeded that some of those passes are backwards but at least he retaines posession, he is also the only midfielder we have who likes to pass and move either getting the ball back or dragging players out of position. Compared to 5 touch pass and stand still carrick he is a much better player. Just because he dosent play hollywood passes dosent mean he is not effective.

jred" - This! Smalling and Jones could develop in to a great partnership, but labelling Evans world class and that he could play for Barcelona, really? Evans is just a decent defender for me, he gets turned in the area by strong or clever attackers and he isnt great positionally dealing with crosses or corners. Jones and Smalling still have a long way to go to develop into world class defenders, but I do think the potential is there. Evans never has and never will be world class. A good defender for the squad but he shouldnt be starting so often for me. Rose tinted glasses indeed as someone said earlier

Jake :) .... Spot on, its got me all pumped up! Wish we could go all out and just stuff them. Darn we miss players like G Nev, the passion and hunger. Strange thing but after watching the video, just got a weird feeling that, Nani would have been really important today if he was fit. LOL.. The video has gotten to my head has it?

Deeps...

P.S - Causing trouble and then Rooney, masterpiece. But finishing it with the overhead kick... sublime!

Ed, do you see us going back in for Diame? He's available for only £5 million but then again, we did pull out of a deal in the summer when he was on a free...

Eds whats your take on the Evra to PSG rumour? Do you think its possible? And who are our targets to replace him if at all he leaves?
Cheers
RD27 {Ed002's Note - I would think such a move by PSG unlikely.}

Asmir begovic rumoured to be set to sign for 8 million. IMO hr can't be that good because Liverpool also have a chance of signing him. Thoughts peoples?

Begovic looks a good keeper tbh but I really cannot understand why Fergie doesn't give DDG the No1 spot. OK he is a young lad but I think it is harsh to blame our defensive frailties on him. IMO he hasn't done that much wrong and has certainly won us the points on occasions with some great saves. Come on fergie support the lad

DeGea is the future here unless he decides to return to Spain.Begovic is a quality keeper of that there should be little doubt. As for Lindegard he is way behind both of those keepers and always will be.

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Begovic would be a replacement for Lindergaard. DDG would then be allowed to develop, as he is a wonderful shot stopper (the best?), he just needs to work on crosses. We could use Begovic for the Stokes (ironically) of the prem and DDG for the teams who are not so threatening aerially. In a two or three seasons DDG will be better than Hart.

i have to be honest the one player at the moment i look forward to seeing on the team sheet is powells. It's hard to explain but when I see him with the ball he just looks really composed, yes he makes the odd mistake and I know he has only played a few games but for me there is just something about him that makes me look forward to watching develop over the next few years.

Believable35 Unbelievable2

Completely agree. I still enjoy watching Scholes but I hate watching our other players. Cleverley and Welbeck are so boring to watch just pass and run (usually sideways). No grace on the ball or imagination like Beckham, Scholes and Giggs have always given us. Powell is a joy to watch because he is exactly that (he seems to glide across the pitch effortlessly with really exciting little interlinking play). Much rather prefer watching our youth team.
