Ed what's your opinion with regard to the Rooney situation? Bayern, Chelsea, still here next season?

Dan {Ed004's Note - I think he will still be here. I can't see us being able to find a buyer were he will be willing to go to}

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Does that mean you think he wants Bayern or Barca Ed, somewhere to play out his obsession with tiki taka? Thanks for your opinions by the way. I'm guessing you wouldn't want to give them often as people would bombard you with questions and try to take it as a prediction that's going to happen. It's always good to hear your personal opinions on things like this though.

Dan {Ed004's Note - I only give opinions I never have any facts I just can't see Rooney moving abroad with a young family tbh}

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I see. Thing is, as much as he's been largely poor and unprofessional I'd hate to see him at another PL club winning them games. Also, do you get the feeling that SAF may have been given a little push to retire this year instead of next?

Dan

Wow Wayne Rooney to Chelsea really? incredible is that happens.

RED91

Believable9 Unbelievable22

I highly doubt Manchester United would let Rooney go to Chelsea. If he's leaving, he'll go abroad.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not Rooneys biggest fan and wouldn't mind if we sold him, but not to Chelsea.

Dan {Ed004's Note - Same if he is sold it has to be outside of the premiership IMO}

Agree1 Disagree0

Chelsea or any other english team should have to pay double what's being offered from abroad

Agree1 Disagree0

Normally I would argue the toss about Rooney or another one of our top players, but it seems such a small subject besides Sir Alex retiring. Yes I know it's a rumor site and I'm probably in the wrong, But SIR ALEX is standing down after nearly27 years. He has not only given me loads of years of pleasure, he has made my life richer. Manchester United will go on they are bigger than any one man even the Scottish colossus himself. I remember the many years of no trophy's, but now I've become used to a feast season on season. So Wayne if you want to go see yo later. As for Sir Alex, thank you for everything and have a great 30 years of retirement. So pleased he'll still be at Old Trafford. What a day, It's like my dead grandmother came back to life, then died again

Agree2 Disagree1

Think united should sell, buy felaini and gundogan once moyes is here as well as baines and ronnie I know people say it won't happen but if madrid want chicharito then let em have him he's class but he's fell short of the peckin order because of RVP but then one question remains cover for robin hmmm toughie

Agree0 Disagree0

Not Fellaini! Too slow and too reliant on strength when he's on the ball.

Also, why would we let Rooney AND Hernandez go?

One of them maybe if Lewandoski is coming in, but not both.

Agree1 Disagree0

08 May 2013 22:36:53
Never thought i'd see the day saf would retire, sad but glad he staying on as director and ambassador.

A rumour going round is rooney could be sold to chelsea very soon, this has nothing to do with the new manager coming in and his replacement could be lewy from dortmund. I personally would rather rooney stay than go to another epl club.

Believable5 Unbelievable16

Let the fat person go to them and play as badly for them as he as for us this season I won't miss the overweight mardarse that held the club to ransome a red united fan

What a fool. You have sung rooneys name for years and he has one bad season and you want him to go. Let's see if Rvp will be as consistent and not just for one season

Its been confided on a web site moyes is the new manager

Agree0 Disagree0

The more I think about it being Moyes the more I don't like it. He's done an ok job at Everton, no more no less. He has spent money, maybe not a lot in relation to some but still a few quid. Really can't see him attracting top players and I think Fergie will still have a big influence, a disaster last time with Sir Matt. Money saving all round with his wages and transfers that say Mourinho would want. Very little Euro experience. That said we have to back him and I hope I am very very wrong. Fergie must see something.

Worried Red

Agree2 Disagree1

Moyes is to be unveiled tomorrow

Agree0 Disagree0

Well as an everton fan I am shocked united want him, I think it's fergies doing as he's is mate and scotch he as don well at everton but sum times is tactics r crap am glad he's going and I hope we get laudrup but I do wish moyes well but I can't see it lasting I think he will b out ov his depth any1 else think so (bluejack)

We need stability not a Jose in for 3 seasons and out again and Scots managers have always done United proud. Welcome Mr Moyes

Sadly the betting is closed for SAF replacement last I heard Moyes 1/20 for the job.

Believable13 Unbelievable15

A good replacement, could do with gary Neville as his assistant.

Agree1 Disagree1

Its actually only 1/5 not that it pleases me any

Agree1 Disagree0

Hes right, have it at 1/20

Agree0 Disagree0

Liverpool fan. Show respect for Moyes

Agree2 Disagree0

Do we really want moyes - he won nothing in eleven years and has no experience on the big stage - champions league - don't fancy it myself

Agree1 Disagree0

As stated, no European experience and united are a hell of a step up from Everton, wouldn't be my choice, hope bookies are wrong on this one.

Eds,

Do you think United already have a manager who has agreed to join? Or do they now, after the announcement, have to move to secure their man?

Great Work, Thanks {Ed004's Note - I reckon they already have someone lined up tbh}

Believable20 Unbelievable2

Rumours up here in scotland is that it might be neil lennon.

Agree0 Disagree2

Are you on the sniff?

Agree1 Disagree0

Nobody except saf and some close members knew that he is retiring. So if anyone says insider info says its so and so has to be a blind shot.
But from the close source from jose believes that he is winding up from madrid for manchester not london. It was the job he always wanted
Rodio17

Believable25 Unbelievable20

Certainly hope so

Agree2 Disagree0

I thought the writing was on the wall after the madrid game, fergy took the defeat quite hard and I had the feeling he knew he had missed his last chance at the CL.
Mourhino seemed to treat every interview as a job interview.
It looks like moyes but I'm I'm keeping my fingers crossed for mourhino
Jred

Agree2 Disagree0

Mourinho is going to chelsea

Agree2 Disagree2

Moyes will be ideal for the Glazers. Not used to spending big money but gets results, our squad is perfect for him, the right blend of youth and experience and with players like Giggs, Ferdinand, Evra, Vidic & maybe Scholes there to assist with the transition it would be much easier for Moyes to come in now.

Probably bring in Fellaini and Baines - shame it likely means Rooney stays though!

I think Moyes will work wonders and would be very happy with him.

Sween

Agree0 Disagree3

Hope so radio17, but I think we're all going to be disappointed.

U have eto remember it will take millions to get jose from madrid, even roman is stalling.

Agree0 Disagree0

NoMidfield, I have yet to see an optimistic/non depressing post from you in all the months I've been on here.

Dan

Agree1 Disagree0

People all like Mourinho when he arrives and wins a few trophies. Then he acts bigger than the club and falls out with people left right and centre. He's not the kind of manager we want. Like Gill said we want people to build from youth get involved throughout the club and stay for a long time. Mourinho is too risky, Moyes or Klopp are the best for the job.

Agree0 Disagree0

Suppose we can live in hope but seems it will be moyes

Agree0 Disagree0

Gill also said the new manager need European experience, Moyes just doesn't have that.

Aaronaldo7

Agree3 Disagree0

Just like to say I'm still digesting that saf is leaving the man cannot be replaced by anyone including mouriniho but if david moyes gets the job I'm sure the club thinks he can do a good job and hopefully we all get behind him!

Agree0 Disagree0

I really don't understand some intelligents here.
What u guys want when u talk stability.
A manager who spend years and wins nothing or very less or someone who stay even 5 years but wins a lot and make united a dominent force in whole europe?
In 5 years world changes a lot. Who have heard or recommend kloop before 5 years?

Get some grip pals. winning is important 25 year rigin is not.

Rodio17

Agree2 Disagree1

I'm sure whoever the next manager is, has been chosen by Sir Alex.

And that being the case - we should all stop dissing potentials until they've at least been appointed, and had some time to take on the largest challenge of their lives.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes will be a disaster. A DISASTER!

Agree1 Disagree0

If it is Moyes the we expect half the Everton team to be signed in the summer. What happens to the big signings Fergie had earmarked. Does any big signings want to come now the big man has stepped down. My feeling is players just don't want to play for us, they want to play for the greatest manager that has ever been. Will the o. d guard be gone now. The likes of gigs, Ferdinand, scholes. I feel sorry for who ever lands in the hot seat, as Fergie, s presence will not be far away. 53 years a red and never witnessed a manger like Fergie or ever will again. But I support Manchester United and all we stand for. Who ever comes in next we have to support him, give him time to set his stall out. We may have to get used to battling for fourth in the league for a period of time, but we will return bigger and better, remember Fergie took a while to get going and when he did boy oh boy. So to Sir Alex Ferguson We thank you for all you have done for this massive club of ours. Enjoy your retirement. Rock The Red

Jose to become man united manager

Believable29 Unbelievable32

08 May 2013 14:06:51
Hearing its Jose! Only from a reporter from the sun

Joe. a

Believable22 Unbelievable28

I honestly think it will be jose or klopp, I just don't see moyes as the type to be in charge at old trafford. He isn't big enough, and in my opinion he hasn't actually done much at everton either, ok yes top six finish, but does that really warrant the biggest job in football? no euro experience, no trophies? Just can't see it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Alex Ferguson was a "no name" almost when he signed for United, granted he had credentials, but they're mainly Scottish league. He is and was a talented manager and that has been seen for many years. Moyes is much the same, but he hasn't had the budget to work with at Everton. I think Moyes would be a very good appointment personally.

Besides, Jose never stays long at a single club, the owners will look for longevity no doubt and will not want to keep getting new managers like Chelsea and recently Liverpool. {Ed004's Note - Go look at what Ferguson won before coming to united and then come back and say he only had credentials}

Ed002, I know you won't tell us for sure who the next manager will be. so in your opinion ;) do you believe David Moyes will be the next manager of United? {Ed002's Note - Yes I do.}

Believable14 Unbelievable15

But what about laurent blance Ed002? how come you changed your mind? do you even know? or guessing? {Ed002's Note - Laurent Blanc was the choice of the person tasked with looking for a new manager about 18 months ago.}

Agree0 Disagree0

He said blanc is most likely
Rodio17

Agree0 Disagree0

Tis is what David Gill had to say:
"In Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex we got in managers who got involved in all aspects of the club. That degree of loyalty is crucial to the success of Manchester United. He (the next manager) needs the required football experience in terms of domestic and European requirements, so it is a small pool. "

Would that last part not rule out Moyes who has no Europan experience?

Agree2 Disagree0

And that person tasked 18 months ago was removed from his duites why? who has come to the decision that moyes is the man? {Ed002's Note - Hew as not removed from his duties.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So its definitely moyes

CAIN

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes would be a big mistake.

Moyes had Everton in the Europa a few years ago, I'm sure.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on lads Everton isn't that far away, resource wise not having such rich owners as yoursleves. Everton were robbed of a champions legaue place, by a ref a few seasons ago. and had europa league for a year or thrice. Considering the resources DM has had at his disposal and let's not forget he was part resposnible for WR he already has contributed plenty to man utd

Hi EDs,

Just a quick question not to who will replace sir alex but what happens now with regards to players that may be brought in. Will long term targets such as strooman fo instance still be of interest and players who were on the verge on leaving will they still be on the way out? Is there any possibility that this has been in the pipeline and discussions with regards to possible targets have already been discussed with the new manager as surely they have known for the last few months this is coming and that the replacement has long been lined up?

Your thoughts would be much appreciated! thanks!

Darren the red {Ed002's Note - There may well be some changes - perhaps Fellaini will arrive.}

Ed - Apparently Everton have come out and said no formal approach has been made by Manchester United for Moyes and United have said the manager will be announced in the next 48 hours so who do you thin it will be? i'm hoping one of Klopp, Mourinho or Ancelotti.

Believable15 Unbelievable7

Basically not david Moyes. He would be miles out of his depth and is not the right man to bring the club forward - we need someone strong with a proven track record at winning things who will also play attractive football.

Agree1 Disagree0

United do not need to make a formal approach for Moyes, he's out of contract in the summer.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree0 Disagree0

It will 100% be moyes. It's been on the cards for years. Mourinho back to Chelsea. Moyes contract is up in the summer so as Sydney said no need for an approach. Everything's aligned for it to happen be you think that good or bad but the next manager of Manchester United will be David Moyes. John Denton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes appointment I'd say is very pleasing for the glazers!who the hell is he going to bring into the club?I'd rather Klopp.

Agree1 Disagree0

There the only two for me with guardiola now going to Bayern. Please no Moyes

Agree1 Disagree0

Will not be foreign!

Agree0 Disagree0

I feel really sorry for you genuinely, I support Liverpool and the demise we suffered after years of domination when souness run us into the ground was and still is painful. I have to admit I have mellowed towards Ferguson over the years despite the obvious banter between our two clubs, there is no doubt the man is a managerial genius!. I sicerely hope that the title doesn't end up down south from now on. Once again my deepest sympathies for you all.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ferguson and Gill's comments clearly indicate that this United team is one they believe will be hugely successful. Would they throw it away on Mourinho?

Dimitar Berbatov’s departure from the club saw United fans introduced to a new style of football and this is clearly meant to be continued. They want somebody to come into the club and continue/start a new dynasty. Could Mourinho manage to stay at a club for more than four years?

What’s more, the last few weeks have seen Ferguson talk about signings that are to come: ‘We've been doing a bit of work over the last three or four months’ – regarding transfers. Additionally, he has eluded to a big signing: ‘Everything is in place for a big signing’. (Is this Ronaldo? I really think so. ) Surely, Mourinho would want to make his own decisions on who would come into the club?

Clearly, planning for Ferguson’s retirement has been ongoing and somebody is already in line for the job. But Who?

-Moyes – Never managed at very top level. Can he cope with the egos of top class players?

- Klopp – Relegated with Mainz in Germany. Very similar style to what Ferguson was trying to produce.

Outsiders.

-Low – Would the German fancy a crack at one of the biggest clubs in the world? Poor club record.

- Villas Boas – Fantastic work at Porto. Young manager with huge potential. {Ed004's Note - Blanc, Ancelotti etc we will hear many names over the next while. Also at times Mourinho has played good football like Real Madrid last season. And Moyes plays awful football}

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more about Moyes but he's been in the frame for years now to replace Ferguson. Also, with Moyes, Ferguson would probably still have a BIG say in what goes on at the club; more so than somebody with a greater reputation and bigger ego, eg: Mourinho.

Most of the transfers for this summer will probably be organised already and he'll have a good sqaud to work with.

What do we think about Mike Phelan? Staying on or moving on to try his hand at management?

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a horrible feeling it could be Moyes as that's what everyone is saying now, but I wouldn't understand that as he has f*** all experience in Europe.

Mourinho would bring success for sure and he's a special character which is would be good for any attempt to fill the void left by SAF but I don't think he'd be long term which is what we need.

Klopp would be my ideal choice, plays great football, doesn't need loads of money to create a winning team and he puts effort into youth systems and bringing academy players through.

Mike Phelan is also a candidate purely because he's worked under SAF for 5 seasons now and he knows the way the club works and how SAF ran the show but I don't think he'd have the passion or drive to be that successful.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Mourinho would bring a circus with him and drag the clubs name through the gutter and prob win nothing and get sacked Moyes however will carry on what SAF has started and not dismantle it and go his own way Klopp would struggle to do what he did in Germany anywere elsre he has been relegated with before not all plaine sailing and is very lucky to have found the players he has on the cheap Kate. f {Ed004's Note - Finding one or two players on the cheap may be lucky but signing 6-7 players for a cheap price can't be classed as luck}

Agree0 Disagree0

08 May 2013 07:21:11
I did speculate on here a few weeks ago that sir Alex would retire and be replaced by Jose, as Jose said he was going somewhere he'd been before but would be a surprise that nobody was thinking of. Some of you might have read that. Well will Chelsea fans still be confident that Jose is going to Chelsea? I hope he does and we get klopp.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Sorry forgot to add name to post, Tookers

Agree0 Disagree0

If fergie was to retire - I hope it is mourinho - there is only a select few that can come near to replacing SAF (although replace is not the right word - as I believe no one will ever be as good) - Mourinho is one them - I would be a tad underwhelmed if Moyes was to succeed due to not having taken control a new team and has no real experience in europe - then again this is all rumours and the annoucement due could be Ronaldo coming back ;)

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't see how anyone could consider Mourinho as anything more than a temporary replacement.

Don't get me wrong, I love Mourinho, and his ability is beyond question, but his preferred style of football is totally at odds with the culture of attacking football SAF has built at utd.

Utd play what I consider pure attacking football, as in it doesn't matter whether it's by possession and domination, or counter-attack, the emphasis is always on getting the ball up the pitch and in the net.

This simply isn't mourinho's style.

IMO Klopp has to be the best candidate, he has the same emphasis on hard work and determination, likes youth, and he would evolve our style smoothly to the next level, rather than switching to a totally different way of playing.

Thorne

Agree1 Disagree1

Its Moyes nailed on lads been saying it for ages and he will be given the biggest transfer budget the club has ever seen Barkley and Baines plus Zaha and a 100m on big signings. Katef
