I have been reading about united been interested in signing javier mascherano in the summer. . now granted they were from unreliable sites but i think he would be ideal for united. . what ya think ed?? has anyone else got an opinion on this?? . . . Red Knight {ed's note - being perfectly honest, he is a very limited player, but what he does do he does do very well. Could well be a very good fit at United protecting the defence, it would allow Carrick more freedom to get forward.} @ Ed granted he is limited but he has got a great engine n does actually put a tackle in i don't feel we have a player that does that. . he was impressive for liverpool n did a good job for them he is well suited to prem n at least everyone knows what he can do. .he would certainly free up other midfielders n depending on price would be a great replacement for hargreaves. . . Red Knight

Sydney! {ed's note - they do seem to always come to an 'understanding'. You would have to say it is a 99.99999% chance of the deal going through.}

@I certainly hope so Ed, he really is the next best thing to come out of Argentina. He can play LW or as a striker.

"{ed's note - if I remember rightly wasn't that referring to the cases in which his son was one of those 'other agents'?}"

No ed. This is a new case. Recent one. Look up the link i posted about the guardian just a while back.

The agents concerned here are Italian and Portuguese (lower) Agents active in South America as well. The case about SAF's son was long before Ronaldo.

REDFAITH {ed's note - ok mate sorry, but the point still stands that there are ways for the money to filter through to a manager. No manager is going to receive direct payments in this day and age, they would be caught within hours if they did.}

"@Thanks for your input Ed, although it was not me who left the last message. Many reports suggest that Iturbe agreed to go to Porto and will then end up at United via Porto, It's a deal involving United, Porto & Mendes. United have done deals with Portuguese teams using Mendes on many occasions and we have often paid over the odds for players. Many conspiracy theorists believe it's a way of filling the Glazers pockets although Ronaldo was purchased before they arrived. He was involved in the Ronaldo deal, Anderson & Nani deals, Bebe deal and now rumoured to be involved in this Iturbe deal.

We paid £12.25m for Ronaldo when Sporting only wanted £6m, we paid top dollar for both Ando & Nani, Bebe's shock £7.6m price-tag has had people asking questions and Mendes was involved in all of these deals where we have apparently paid up to 30% in fees. That was all I wanted to say, I just wanted to know what you thought about this next rumoured deal involving a Portuguese club, Manchester United & Jorge Mendes yet again.

Maybe it would be a question for the original Ed if you do not want to comment on it, perhaps you may delete it? It's your prerogative mate.

Sydney! {ed's note - most people I know believe the guy who benefits most from these deals is Ferguson, not the Glazers mate.}"

I think this is simply a case where we have managed to forge a good relationship with "The most influential man in portuguese football" and do not want to lose out on targets in positions we want to improve.

Sporting were "negotiating" a 6mil fee with arsenal, not accepting. Then United stepped in, did a bit of dirty laundry with Mendes, outbid them and the overall deal was worth 12mil.

People believe money goes out to SAF, but the investigations into Mendes' finances in a very publicised case revealed that most of the money goes to players, other agents who help him secure these players, image rights and the remaining is with him. there is no trace of money paid to SAF.

@I knew you would know what I was getting at, the feeling I have with this Iturbe deal is that he is very very likely to be a United player in the near future, the point I was trying to make in a previous post was when Mendes, Porto & United (Fergie) are involved in a deal, it ALWAYS comes off.

Is that fair Ed?

{Editor's Note: I am guessing it is a conspiracy Sydney!. If Iturbe has a deal with Mendes and is willing to back out of his deal with Porto, and Porto are willing to give up any contractual agreement then whoever brokers such a deal will likely want a good fee from it. If it is Mendes then Manchester United will need to agree and pay for those services.}

What's the bet that Rio makes a miraculous recovery in time for the derby? Ferguson has been claiming players are injured when they should be on international duty for years. .

Don't get me wrong, I'd prioritise the derby before an international friendly any day but it's not very fair is it?

Makes you wonder if it has anything to do with Englands massive under achievement. . They rarely get to play as a team. .

Mega Amazing Man

@Did you know Tevez has been rested for the Argentina game? RVP & Cesc are 'apparently' ill with the flu. I believe Gerrard & Carra have also withdrawn with knocks? A meaningless friendly is not worth messing up a season for, but Rio genuinely is injured and it's unlikely he will play against City. I hope he does mind.

@Probably the most unbelievable rumour EVER! Arsenal have made a £25m bid for Real Madrid defender Pepe? Like I said it's probably the most ridiculous made-up rumour ever.

I want to raise a few points about the kind of midfielder we should be buying. People keep talking about buying an attacking midfielder(goal scoring) but when was the last time we had one? Now i hear the name scholes who has been one of the all time greats at our club but he hasn't played as an AM since the 04-05 season which was the last time he scored more than 10 goals in a season for us since then which is 6 years by the way he's got an 23 goals which averages at less than 4 goals a season hardly a goal scoring midfielder. Look at our history people other than scholes how many great central AM have we had? Our best players have always been wingers charlton best giggs ronaldo, and even if we were to play with a more attack minded midfielder wat about anderson cleverley morrison and giggs who plays more centrally now more often than not. I say give anderson a chance next season and if he fails to deliver then either morrison can step up or we can look at a new player the summer after. Anderson played his best football for us when he had hargreaves along side him so play him with a more defensively minded player and see how he does. I feel there is far more need for a DM or box to box player. I would like one of M'Vila, Rodwell, Martinez or Moussa Sissoko but would accept Vidal or Tiote. Then a goalkeeper with one of Stekelenburg, Adler or Frey being the favoured ones. The only other player i would like to see at our club would be Alex Chamberlain. So with 2/ 3 signings and with players like welbeck cleverley pogba and morrison moving up into the first team i see a bright future.

United to sign Juan Manuel Iturbe in the summer from what im hearing. He's 17 is at porto currently and is dubbed the 'New Messi'. he is a really decent prospect and would be a great addition to United's Squad. predominantly he is a winger but could play as a striker or just behind, both footed too. I think this kid will be a star in a 4-5 years time.

United Till I Die 1987

That's odd seeing as he hasn't joined Porto yet, he joins in the summer.the deal with mufc is "supposed" to be in a few years time, read the whole article next time! !
