Arsenal are planning to turn up the heat on Manchester United over French whizkid Paul Pogba.
The Daily Star says United face a battle to keep hold of Pogba, with Arsenal ready to make a move.
Manager Arsene Wenger wanted the French midfielder before he moved to United in 2009.
But the Gunners have been given fresh hope that they could land Pogba at the second attempt.
Pogba, 18, has snubbed United’s attempts to tie him to a new deal and will be free to talk to clubs in January as his current deal expires next summer.

No it doesn't.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba got 18 months left on current contract.
johndenton

Agree0 Disagree0

Just you wait, he'll sign a new contract in January.

Agree0 Disagree0

His contract ends June 2013. This paper talk is dreadfully boring.

SAF said;

"The young boy Pogba is showing great promise," said Ferguson. "We are quite positive about him.

"If we hold him back, what is going to happen? He will leave in a couple of years’ time when his contract has finished.

"We have to give him the opportunity to see how he will do in the first team.

Dated August 13th 2011.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Like Syd! said, it's chip paper nonsense. It's just Pogba's people trying to get him a better deal at the club.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

It will get him a good deal too, I cannot wait til I read;

"Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba signs new five year deal with the club".

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Pogba signed a 3yr contract 18mths ago,by my reckoning that makes 18 months still to go.
Raffa

Agree0 Disagree0

He signed oct 2009 over 2 years ago so the question is was 3 or 4 year contract , reading what fergy said it sound like 4

Ed002 - Doesn't a player have to be 17 to sign a professional contract in England? So it would have been March 2010 when he signed a professional contract. Did he sign a two year deal til 2012 or a three year deal til 2013?

Would a two year deal be likely Ed? Surely a three year deal is more likely isn't it?

Sydney! {Ed002's Note - The deal is that under the age of 18 the maximum contract is 3 years and the player is still a child so a parent or guardian must still sign. I have no idea about the length for Pogba but our database shows it runs to June 2013 although I am well aware of speculation it runs out this year. Our database his not always accurate for youngsters as I have said.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed002 - Thanks Ed, keep us posted when whoever you contacted gets back to you about it. I am starting to wonder if it is 2012 now because we signed Pogba in 2009. Would be a huge blunder on SAF's part as he believed it was 2013.

The Daily Star once reported that a 16-year-old boy had been turned into a fish finger by aliens.

Heard hes joining Barnsley on loan to get more confidence in him

I'm seeing reports of interest in Yohan Cabaye, by the player himself, hope this is true as I think he is a class player and we are lacking that bit of quality in there.

Just seen a couple of articles linking us with Betis striker Alejandro Pozuelo, anyone know anything about him? Not sure how valid the reports are as I think one was the Sun and another was a website which also claimed Ronaldo might come back, but when it's an unknown name it often catches my interest (even though any half-decent youngster is obviously going to be linked with United, Barca..).

Thanks

APC

Believable13 Unbelievable2

United have been scouting Real Betis' initially looking at Vadillo before his injury and whilst doing so they stumbled upon Pozuelo.

They meant Ronaldo returning to United to play in Rio's testimonial, not returning to United to play for us full-time.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

Will be weird for Ronaldo to play in the testimonial because he's still worthy to play for united, unlike in other testimonials ex-united players come back knowning that it will only be a one off occasion because they're past it. Will be interesting..

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

Ah I see, cheers Syd. I'm assuming very few will have seen enough of him to pass judgement. United do seem to be looking at a fair few young strikers at the moment, I guess they are a little thin on the ground at youth level.

And no the article I read online read something along the lines of ''United enquire into availability of Ronaldo with a view to a possible return for the superstar in what would be a sensational transfer'' etc etc.
I can't remember which website this was on but I'm assuming it works with the same principle as Wikipedia.

APC

Agree0 Disagree0

APC please find us a link, we would all be interested to read it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Unless Fergie has thought of the un-thinkable and has plans to permanently put Rooney in midfield then buy Cristiano back to replace Rooney up front? haha we can dream.. ;)

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

That'd be fine for me :P Although Rooney playing off Ronny would be better :P

Agree0 Disagree0

This would be great! when teams play against united now they are so scared of Rooney and Nani etc. but non, other than Rooney, are the class of Ronaldo. we'll begin to bring back that fear factor that went with Ronaldo. I would love to see him back!!

INTER have told Manchester United they are free to sign Wesley Sneijder – but only if they break the bank.

by kelvin united 4ever {Ed007's Note - Well they should ask some of the country's top bankers advice, they seem pretty good at breaking banks.}

Believable29 Unbelievable6

Wow thats generous of them - you can sign him for an absorbant fee......never going to happen, time to move on

Agree0 Disagree0

Id tell him to piss off, they had there chance, i hope he stays at inter and rots there , winning nothing when he could of chose us and glory instead of trying to squeeze every last penny he can get! time to bring someone else in!
likkle duggo

Agree0 Disagree0

Well you know this story is just media trying make something out of nothing once again because in the previous summer window when we tried to sign Wes, it wasn't the club getting in the way... It was the WES getting in the way. Shame!

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with all your comments and there is no chance we would be willing to pay £40m for him but would still love to see him in a United shirt.
Sneijder and a defensice midfielder would drastically change our team.

We ve got a good core at the back, although need a new left back and decent forward line, its the centre of the pitch we need to address and think Sneijder could well be the answer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sneijder could be available for less than £25m due to Inter struggling to pay his wages and the fact that he will be 28 years old by next season. Inter are desperate to offload him.

Sydney!

Agree0 Disagree0

I still think that sneijder is one of the only other players about that can pick out those kind of passes rooney loves to dish out! I hate the way how football is slowly turning more and more into business rather than entertainment if you like, we wouldn't spend the cash on a clearly world class, gifted footballer just because we'd make no money after his contract runs out. What people don't think about is he could help bring us more success and what is success?.. money. The only reason i don't mind too much if we never see the great Wesley in a united shirt is because of a certain tom cleverley who WILL be world class, all the while we still have paul scholes turning up to carrington.

Ozwald

Agree0 Disagree0

We will not be in for Sneijder again....... ever. He had his chance and blew it. We will look elsewhere for younger players that represent value for money.

United Till I Die 1987

Agree0 Disagree0

I am happy that we didn't buy WS. Inter are not setting the world alight and there are younger and better midfielders to be had. United need 2 Tiote and Ganso, or Sissoko and Hamsik. Or at least grab Marvin Martin in January - Spurs are meant to be buying him for just over £7m. He's still only 23 and apart from Rooney who is more effective at the top anyway, he's better than any midfielder we've got at the moment, including Cleverly.
