12 months ago I was a very unhappy utd fan. We had a manager I didn't rate and got slapped in the face by every player we looked at. I can't help but feel that maybe with Hererra and Shaw already signed that the problem may not have been Woodward but the players we were interested in also didn't rate Moyes. Roll on to now and we have a new manager who will only have seen his stock rise with a respectable world cup placing and some either genius or lucky decisions which either way show he has balls big enough to fill old Trafford. Add to this the bumper new deal with adidas and it looking more likely on a daily basis that Vidal could be joining us which would for me and I'm sure many others would be the "marquee" signing we were all pining for last summer
Not to mention the other players we need to fill the gap in defence and attack I for one can not wait for the new season to begin. Even if we don't win the league next season I will still be happy as the intent and ambition in getting us back to the top again looks to be happening.

You could well be right BeachBum - personally I hoped Moyes would work out (as I would with any incumbent in the Utd managers chair) and felt he maybe could have, however the history books will say not and that's all that matters. We do seem to be on a hugely promising upward curve this summer and that without doubt is, in part, due to LVG's arrival.

Remember though all things are relative - we really did only have one way to go after last summer + season and that was up. As long as we don't get carried away with the inevitable downs that will occur along the way I feel we could tear up a few trees this year (new signings permitting). Fingers crossed.

2.) I admire LVG just as much as the next guy but not so sure I'm comfortable with the thought of his balls invading Old Trafford.

3.) I've said it many times, depending who the manager is it will determine who plays for you.
You can go for a manager who has managed at the highest level and won many things, while also developing youth and players of all ages.
Or can can for a manager who's never won, no big team ever wanted him, no development skills, no winning mentality or tactics like the person we had

I don't post on here at all but I do read at least once a week and here's my 2 cents and what I'd like to see.

Ole. If Ole get us into the champions league, and we continue well in the European cup were in that he absolutely deserves to keep his job. His transfer policy and players has signed have been the best fit for our club since any manager since Fergie retired. Which brings me on to what I'd like to see.

Player in come summer.
I'd like to see Jude Bellingham come in. I think he looks a generational talent and if we lose out on him someone else will get one hell of a player.

I unfortunately think Villa will go down. I say unfortunately as I think they should be a premiership team with their history. But I think Jack Grealish would be a good fit. We've definitely missed Rashford and Jack's been awesome in that left wing position.

We really needed another striker and I'm sure I wasn't the only fan surprised by Ighalo. Just for arguements sake he scores the winning goal in Europa league final. Does he not deserve to stay? As a lifelong fan of the club he is showing he his also worthy of being a player. I like him he's a humble lad and does give us something different on the pitch.

Jadon Sancho is my next wish. He's amazing, at his age he's fantastic. A high speed goal scoring defenders nightmare. he's mega money but him and Rashford playing either side of a striker would really bring the fear factor back to our opponents.

Whilst we seem to have only tend to sign three players a summer there is as this is what I'd like to happen two others I'd like to see. Declan Rice and Ben White. Two great young players who are certainly in the mould of what the club are looking at in terms of age, ability and both being home grown. I think both of them will be on the move this summer and I'd like to think it was to us.

Players out
If a good enough offer came in and the fax was plugged in then I'd let De Gea go. Yes he's the number one shot stopper in the world and I love the guy but he's been with us a very long time and in recent months I can't help thinking he looks like he could do with a fresh challenge. Also there is Henderson to come back and I think he's a capable replacement only going to get better.

Chris Smalling and Phil Jones of let go. Smalling I think is going anyway and Jones seems to be injured more than not and extremely inconsistent when he isn't.

Paul Pogba HAS TO GO! I don't know where Paul and his ego will fit in with the squad now. Since Fernandes has come in he is looking like the player that makes everything click. Bruno is my new favorite player. Paul is the wrong type of arrogant and I think his heart is elsewhere also.

Others to go are Jesse Lingard and Pereira. Neither I think are at the level we need and I think another bonus to losing Jesse would be severing all ties with Raiola. There seems to be a lot of bad blood between the club and Raiola and a clean break all round will probably be best for everyone. Alexis Sanchez has to go. Even if UTD have to top up his wages to the end of his contract with us then it will just have to go down as a very expensive and silly mistake. Kind of like Veron.

Many thanks to all who read. When I started out with this I didn't expect it to go on so long :D.

I would keep Andreas for a squad role.

Please no to Declan Rice. A modern day Phil Jones. Flatters to deceive and looks like he would happily chase parked cars outside your house all day long.

Time for Smalling, Sanchez to go. Pogba should go unless he is fully committed. So that means he should go, never been fully committed to anything. Jones should be committed, or if it is safe for him to remain in society, he should go.

DDG - the enigma. WE MUST NOT LOSE HENDERSON, so depend on his contract situation and offers coming in. Another year of loan and guaranteed 1st team football would be okay, but if that risks losing him then DDG should go. But I also think DDG has earned this bad spell, and he is still a very good keeper.

2.) 13 Mar 2020 08:39:25
Has grealish done enough to justify want villa would want for him? Is he also a player we need to try and shoe in to the team? Ighalo will be interesting but i guess itll be his wage demands that may make or break a deal as he's on a good wedge in china.

3.) 13 Mar 2020 10:13:33
Ingalo took a pay cut to join us on loan, he is living the dream and I'm sure he would be happy to remain at the club for the next 2-3 years.

Not been on here for years due to the intense psychological damage the demise of our beloved club has caused me and I'm sure many of your good selves.

With the winter transfer window only a few sleeps past Christmas away. Here's my 2 cents of who I'd like with who would (if the press could actually be believed) could be available.

Mario Mandzukic - whilst going against the club's "new transfer policy" I've always been a fan of his and I think with his attitude and natural fitness levels could for 18 months say be a very good option. Plus Juventus seem to be willing to do business mid season.

How we started the season as short as we did was evident it seemed to everyone except old Eddy. We have to bring in a midfielder. Were not going to get our main targets in the winter were all aware of that but I think we could do worse than Eric Dier. Premiership proven, home grown, still young and I believe he's just lost his way a bit at spurs in a position that is flooded there. Maybe a change of scene may help him like it did Trippier. In any event he can still tackle, pass and read a game better than Fred.

Come summer I'd like us to hit the free transfers. Our squad is week and there is only so much we could spend but two players available on a free which would provide some much needed depth. At left back when Shaw's not been fit it's been hard. Raphael Gerreira is available on a free and I believe could fill that roll also being able to play in midfield. The other free player I'd go for is Ryan Fraser. Would be a fantastic impact player able to play in multiple positions and for me more consistent than say Lingard. Non freebies would be James Maddison I think he's a great lad and he's only going to keep getting better. Erling Haland because let's face it he's class. If it were down to me I'd even try and sign him up for the summer NOW loaning him back to Salzburg until the end of season. My last definite choice would be Hee-chan Hwang. I'd say for his age he's as good as Son at spurs at the same age. Not to mention sending Van Dijk the wrong way like he did only makes me like him more. He's got that fantastic full throttle way of playing those south Korean players have and ability aside would probably good sense commercially as well. Another Centre midfielder in and I think we'd be in a much better position going into next season than we did this.

Now I know that there is no Saul and other huge names on there but I think we have to be realistic in looking at the position we're in now to the position we were once in. We need to sell Pogba, Sanchez, Lingard, Bailey, Matic, Rojo, Young, Smalling, Fosu-Mensah and possibly Martial. They either haven't worked out for us or are in Pogbas case at least have a terrible attitude. Sorry that was so long winded I live in a house with four females so I've been bottling it up for a while. Thanks for reading and have a good day.

Not trying to be funny mate but if the fortunes of a football club are causing you “intense psychological damage” you probably need to re-evaluate your priorities.

2.) 25 Oct 2019 17:32:22
Okay so I may have slightly embellished the true effect it's had on me.

3.) 25 Oct 2019 22:15:26

Good post BB. And a refreshing change to read, so thanks.

Not sure Haaland will come to MUFC, could you imagine his dad's reaction!

5.) 26 Oct 2019 09:37:59
Dodgy, I could just imagine the conversation.

Haaland Jr "Dad, I'm keen to join Manchester United"

Haaland Sr "KEANE! Over my f**ked knee are you joining United"

🤣🤣🤣.

6.) 26 Oct 2019 10:47:48
Yeah I guess the whole leeds thing could be problematic. However, it was okay for Alan Smith. He even played for Leeds and as soon as they got relegated jumped in his car and drove over the penines. 😅.

{Ed001's Note - only because Man Utd were the only team willing to pay full price and he gave up his signing bonus and cut of the transfer fee he was due to give extra to Leeds as they were in financial difficulties.}

7.) 26 Oct 2019 12:01:59
Eric Dier isn't good enough. We need to sign a top midfielder. If Spurs want rid of him, then he's not good enough for UTD.

Ryan Fraser could be useful. I agree he would be better than all I can do is Instagram Lingard. If OGS plays and keeps this new formation, where would he fit?

Should Neymar join Paris would anyone else rather spend the Perisic money on Julian Draxler?

BeachBum

1.) 02 Aug 2017 08:05:52
Draxler isn't really a natural winger. too similar to what we already have. Where as perisic is comfortable playing both flanks and also full-back.

Perisic would offer more for money in our current squad.

I'd imagine that Martial is hoping that the Bale press reports are just rumour's. He would probably be fuuuuuming if asked to change his shirt number. AGAIN!

17 Jul 2014 13:53:32
Now I know were all excited by links and possible deals for Vidal and Reus etc. i'm still hoping a deal could be done for Daley Blind. Now I know people will.say he's not the quickest and fair point but neither was sherringham or bergkamp and whist granted they were forwards and not left backs they both had fantastic football sense and were fantastic players. Also with evras imminent departure to juve he would give us experienced cover at lb for which he one ajax player of the year and also in midfield which last season he won dutch footballer of the year. He is obviously very adaptable and versatile with a good footballing brain on him.

BeachBum

1.) The problem with Blind is he won't want to come to United as a utility player. He wants to play in his favourite position in cm and, frankly, he isn't good enough to be a first choice cm for us.

I'd take Ings any day of the week over Martial. Regardless of whether we go in for Kane or not Martial needs to go. No passion and sulks like a two year old.

They (the board) are totally incompetent. Other clubs identify their player, pay what is asked and sign their man. UTD chase shadows trying to find a bargain and as we can see it doesn't work.

Shocking isn't it? Now a third of the way through the window and absolutely nothing even remotely looking like happening. A tribe of baboons could run that club better. The only one I feel sorry for is Ole. Loves the club but just and I don't want to disrespect the guy as I loved him as a player but it's just a bit to much for him I fear. And I don't see them ever getting any of the players linked to like Maddison either now or the summer. Sancho will go elsewhere Saul will get a better contract at Athletico or go to Barcelona. Woodward won't or can't sign players and then lies. I don't blame Raiola or Haaland. That kid should have had a red carpet piggy back to old Trafford and been promised the world with martial mooted elsewhere. And with how little they could have got him for just paid Raiola however sickening it may be someone makes that much for doing that little. With players that need to leave I reckon they need six or seven in for next season and I don't see a chance in hell it will happen. The owners are happy to see their American Football club suck. I just can't understand why when the better you do the more money you make that they have such little ambition. So sad!

For me I'd love Bale to sign. Like said before the previous three seasons he played 40 games + a season. Not to mention smashing goals in for fun. When he plays he's a game changer the likes we haven't got and I really don't see anyone else of that caliber who is available. Plus whether some of the fans want him or not he's the forward signing Woodwood has been dreaming since taking over. So I think if United think he's available Woodward will be off to Madrid to piggy back him back to OT so he doesn't go lame again falling off the plane.

The full back I'd have liked was Mateo De Sciglio. I think Juve got a bargain there at 12 mill.

I'd take Nididi in a heartbeat. I think he's highly under rated. It took some player to seemlessly fill Kantes boots which he did. I think as he's not got a huge loud personality he doesn't stand out sitting in midfield doing all the dirty work. I'd imagine he's probably very humble and professional given as he's doing a business degree as well I'd say he's the very type of player we should be signing.

I think MF should be given the respect that any professional who plays for us to be shown. So he wasn't a player a lot would have bought he's world class next to djemba djemba. Also a lot of the players that the fans wanted would not have joined had SAF or Moyes was in charge and with Van Gaal also. Fellaini was a player that was happy to play for them. So thank MF and good luck if you go to turkey.

Really looking forward to seeing Matic playing for us also. Prem proven knows how to win trophies and deal with top level pressure, not to mention trusted and known by the manager.
