We have been left behind folks, the infrastructure and workings of other clubs has now overtaken us. Our top brass got lazy and counted the cash whilst others got smart and thought long term. We are where we belong to be due to short sightedness at the top level.

Until there's a change up top then we will continue to languish I feel. That families only wish is to keep milking us dry.
I know what to ask santa for!

A new owner so we can be called Manchester United Arab Emirates?

2.) 02 Dec 2019 15:58:38
The Arab owners aren't the worst idea.
They will very likely give the job to people who manage a club, a dof and actually spend money.
City have improved massively under a similar thing.

3.) 02 Dec 2019 18:30:16
Blood money no ta.

4.) 02 Dec 2019 19:38:02
How many pieces of silver for your soul?

5.) 02 Dec 2019 22:08:54
If new owners don’t saddle us with debt, don’t take dividends and consultancy fees, are ambitious and do what City’s owners have done, put football people who know what they are doing to protect their asset, then its a football club get on with it. We don’t pontificate over where petrol came from when putting fuel in our cars.

6.) 02 Dec 2019 23:49:20
There is a huge difference between the need to buy petrol and the need to have such owners for United. As a radio presenter said tonight do we really want United to be used basically as a marketing ploy to gloss over the bad image and awful deeds of certain individuals / countries.

Yes City are doing well and yes their owners have poured lot of money into the club and community but I would maintain their primary aim has been to improve their public image. Frankly as much as City's owners have put in its a drop in the ocean for them. City did indeed sell their soul. One consequence of them doing so has been the huge question marks about their transfer expenditure and financial fair play. Also about alleged payments to players and their families to sign for them.

Whether the allegations are true or not it is not something our club should be involved with. I don't want our club to be just another plaything for oil barons. It has been bad enough with the Glazers. Let's get some proper owners in who have morals and actually care about the game and more importantly about us fans.

So shappy Arab are evil and what exactly is everyone else? Most of this site is made up of british folk, do people really need a history lesson in how the empire made its money?

And it's not just the empire, how many illegal wars have US and their allies started in recent times? Who sells weapons to Arab nations for a lot of profit?

8.) 03 Dec 2019 03:33:02
Haha kettle says you are black.

9.) 03 Dec 2019 07:21:42
CSM, kudos. you point ended the debate :D.

10.) 03 Dec 2019 07:49:04
I love the some people act all holy and whatnot.

Why do you think you're clean? What makes you better than the "Arabs"?

You built your nations pillaging and destroying others because you had technology and advancements to your aid.

Killed well over a hundred million through slavery.

Stole their natural resources, colonized their wealth and territories. Lorded over their affairs like gods.

Built your nations and economies on the backs of their blood sweat and tears.

The same people whose descendants living in your country majority of you still look down upon with disgust.

You're still the same people riding on your high horses saying "Arab blood money".

And I don't want to hear "but it was then" because most of you supported and still support wars in other countries which is leading to millions of deaths, destruction and poverty while we know the real reasons for the war. Most of which is for resource control (oil from wars in Middle East, Blood diamonds from Congo Zimbabwe and Central African Republic etc), drug control (Afghanistan, Pakistan, South American countries etc), lucrative weapons and arms trade and not to forget the threat of any leadership who refuses to dance to the tunes of the western world will be overthrown in usually a bloody takeover/ coup funded and supported by your nations to "liberate" the people from a "monster" or "dictator" which will not only lead to loss of lives but also thro the countries into chaos, destabilize the economy and plunge the people into decades of untold hardship.

But go on about the Saudis, let this not stop you.

11.) 03 Dec 2019 09:04:54
Fantastic post Yaz.

12.) 03 Dec 2019 09:06:39
Well that took a turn 😂.

13.) 03 Dec 2019 09:46:12
Yeah GDS :)
I myself was typing a long post. But Yaz and CSM summed it up perfectly.

14.) 03 Dec 2019 11:05:58
Well said CSM. I look forward to Shappy's reply on that one.

Red man, another great line 'We don’t pontificate over where petrol came from when putting fuel in our cars'.

15.) 03 Dec 2019 12:49:21
I don't care where the money comes from as long as the clubs ran properly. Which it hasn't been for 15 years. But let's leave the other stuff out of it.

16.) 03 Dec 2019 13:05:26
Spot on csm. shappy you need to read a history book mate.

17.) 03 Dec 2019 13:37:15
Quite. Do you know how hugely insulting it is to suggest anyone from the Middle East who has made a few quid is a murderer and has blood on their hands. Incredible - quick recap on history, read about the British Empire.

18.) 03 Dec 2019 13:40:07
No offence, but it's a totally fatuous comparison, comparing fuel, which society needs to function, and a football team that kick a ball around.

19.) 03 Dec 2019 15:46:31
very few people in the world today could afford to buy utd its either arab oil money, russian oil money or the chinese.

20.) 03 Dec 2019 20:17:27
Or Jim Ratcliffe who supports United and is worth about £18 Billion.

21.) 03 Dec 2019 21:04:34
Noucamp spot on. Also yes Britain and other nations did plunder ignorant poorer countries in years gone by and yes selling arms to other nations especially those with irresponsible or despotic leaders is terrible. That said Britain and other countries were not a totally malign force. More importantly if anything we should learn from history and therefore it is wrong to accept money from anyone who has made wealth which is frankly beyond our comprehension whilst at the same time they have exploited their own people and often subjugated or even killed them. As one of the biggest clubs in the world with over a billion followers we are ideally placed to take a stand and promote decency. Money is the root of all evil say some and although not necessarily true it makes people often look the other way when bad things are happening. I really hope we show some spirit and reject such an approach. Michael Douglas was wrong. Greed is NOT good. Unless its us being greedy to win trophies.

22.) 03 Dec 2019 21:26:48
Buy an electric car nou. There are alternatives out there 😁.

23.) 03 Dec 2019 22:32:06
We can't change the past unfortunately but we can do something about the present and influence the future. Surely nobody thinks it's acceptable to turn a blind eye to the abuse of human rights currently and publicly happening in Saudi, and, we know their ownership of our Club would simply be used for reputation laundering. If we thought getting rid of the Glazers is difficult can you imagine how hard it would be to remove someone who could afford to buy them out! I love our Club and would never want to see it used for political gain and to deflect from abusing human rights. Selling our souls for pieces of silver (ware) .?

24.) 03 Dec 2019 23:31:26
If it was just only cars, Angel! What about my summer holiday? :)

25.) 04 Dec 2019 02:35:27
Salford if we are giving tyrants a pass, surely arabs too get the same. If providing enslaved people some non malign stuff absolves the west they are providing you most of the fuel world needs, shouldn't that count too.

Nikh you do know that usa is the biggest human rights abuser in the world and our current owners are good friends and donors to the guy who currently runs it?

26.) 04 Dec 2019 06:28:31
Haha nou. time to build a boat mate ;)

Thorne, I strongly have to disagree with your post mate.

Bruno isn't as good as Martinez?! Martinez is a centre half who has been injured for more time than he has played. I don't get how this can even be a thought however appreciate each to their own.
He's a leader and probably slightly better than Bruno in that regard but he's also petulant and makes rash decisions when things aren't going his way.

Bruno has been our best player by a country mile since he's been with us and I think that gets forgotten by a lot of us.

Both are important to the team but to say Licha is better, I'm sorry but that is just silly.

Hey folks, regular reader but rare poster so here goes.
Bruno getting grief is, in my own opinion, sad and unwarranted.
The lad has consistently been a top performer in what at times has been a very mediocre side.
There was huge noise for him to be made captain on here and in other places. The reasoning at times was his unquestionable attitude and demand on those around him.
Is perhaps his tail off in performance linked to the fact that we finally have others stepping up to the plate and improving their own standards?
Is he maybe being overshadowed by others who have found some form and are buying into our current purple patch?
The call for someone who has arguably been our best player in the past 10 years to move on strikes me as a touch shortsighted and misguided.
Phased out in a few years perhaps, but sold on considering his stats all round. not for me at all folks.

I think Martinez looked to bring the ball out of defence on a few occasions and saw nothing in front of him, he looked tidy on it and will hopefully adjust to the speed of the game.
Regarding his height, Cannavaro was the same height as him and one of the greatest. Not comparing the 2 in terms of ability but height doesn't necessarily make you a good defender.

For years Ronaldo has been lauded regarding his professionalism, his love for the game and his winning mentality etc. now shows its only when it suits him, he's showing he's the same as all the other mercenaries at the top end of the game.
Cut our losses, leave him to stew and watch the toys be thrown from te pram.
