Hey Ed, Our left back situation is well documented with Luke Shaw looking likely but is there any interest from the club in strengthing the right back slot? either a repalcement for Rafael or back up?

Giants14

{Ed002's Note - The club has looked at players as I have previously explained. Santiago Aria might still be an option.}

Spanish radio COPE reported united have had 40m euro bid rejected for Madrids Kherida {Ed004's Note - If true I will be really pissed off. Ozil is three times the player of Khedira and he went for a little more than that}

Giants14

1.) It's a question of need, we need a midfielder a lot more than an attacking player.

2.) Different types of player, khedira is a solid box to box player, breaks play up, gives it easy, ozil of the front man, kagawa can do that, khedira would be a good buy, forget the mone maybe over priced but who isn't, I mean 85 mill for bale? come on

3.) Lots of reports of this, so how does that work .
Where we after all 3 or is Herrera or fellaini a second choice
Or is it bs

4.) I guess it was due to Everton playing hardball over Fellaini. With such little time left you cannot put all your eggs in one basket. Since Fellaini has put in a transfer request and it looks like he is going to sign. Worryingly Jred it seems the Spanish FA are being gits about Herrera. Does City or Chelsea have contacts there ;)

5.) No Sydney, I think the real problem may be City's buying, the problematic purchase being Ed Woodward for an undisclosed fee.

6.) Ed004, I really disagree.
Khedira would be great in the EPL and he is what MUFC needs.

Btw I am happy to see Eriksen to Tottenham because he is not what MUFC needs.

Manchester Evening News has reported that United will put a third bid in for Cesc Fabregas - by Andy Mitten

There must be something going on in the background giving us some sort of encouragement about increasing the bid - either by barca or by an agent, surely if we had no chance we wouldn't waste so much time and effort on this.

Giants14

1.) I've said for weeks we'll sign him. I still think that's the case.

2.) Unless (and I'm sorry to be the negative one) it is a clever situation created by Man Utd, as in they are aware they unlikely to sign any of their main targets this summer and so by bidding repeatedly for the same player who they know they won't get, in the fans eyes it at least appears that they have money to spend and are at least trying. This way Moyes can't really be given such a hard time.
I am praying we sign Fabregas but I admit it is starting to look unlikely.

Paul

3.) It's for the fans. just to make us think they are trying to sign someone

4.) Paul

I have heard this suggestion aswell espeically when season tickets have just came onsale but I would look at it the other way.
We constantly bid for players Moura, WS, Modric and Hazard etc and don't manage to pull it off - now we attempt a player that most united fans would dream off - if this fails and we end up with plan b or c most fans including myself would be very underwhelmed and a tad disappointed resulting in unrest from the very start.

I believe Moyes has to make a statement signing not just for our rivals but to put a stamp of authority that it is his time - fabregas would do that imo but at this moment in time it looks a remote possibilty

5.) Never heard so much dribble in my life, why are you all jumping on the bandwagon that its to please the fans? maybe, just maybe we really want to buy the boy!! call yourselfs fans? absolutely not, enjoy the season in your armchairs slagging the team off!

6.) All this talk of them making bids just to sell season tickets is rubbish. They are obviously being fed some info that cesc wants to leave. He's obviously going to say he doesn't want to leave in public cause barca are his team and he doesn't want to upset the fans especially as he is probably going to move back there when he eventually retires. I doubt the biggest club in the world would have any problems selling season tickets.

7.) We have won enough Premier League titles and if I am to look back 2 decades, it's only Manchester United who won both Champions League and Premier League in the same season - 1999 and 2008.

It is not easy to win both and look at how Chelsea and Liverpool stood in the league when they won Champions League!

So the point is, get off Moyes' back and give the guy some time. United focuses more on domestic titles than Europe which is perhaps not ideal. about time we sacrifice 1st or 2nd place for 3rd and 4th to have a good crack at Europe. This same team last season lost to Real on a dodgy decision by ref and if RVP had his boots on.

Don't care what big name we buy as long as the team effort is there as always. time to time United lost big players and yet it was always US challenging chelski and man s***ty

8.) How plain stupid do some people have to be to think we are putting bids in to appease fans?

It gets mentioned on here every day. Have a word with yourself, it couldn't be further from the truth!

9.) United will never get fabregas, ever! Stop dreaming boys.

10.) Yes because us fans are just soooo pleased when we have failed bids for good players, aren't we?

Fabio Coentrao looks likely to be leaving Real Madrid this summer and bookies favourite to join Jose at Chelsea according to Sly Spurts?
Would we be interested in him as a long term replacement of Evra? thoughts?

Giants14

1.) 24 May 2013 10:43:45
No, he is very poor defensively. I would want him to go to Chelsea, that way it would put us in pole position to sign Luke Shaw.

2.) Would be a good buy but surely Luke Shaw from Southampton would be a better option (cheaper and British)? Chelsea are supposedly interested in both but if Mourinho goes for what he knows already then perhaps we have a good shot at Shaw.

3.) Shappy took the words right out of my mouth.

Ozwald

4.) Why would he move to a team in which ashley cole will be playing at. load of nonsense

Robbo

13 May 2013 14:58:47
Bit of transfer gossip. Cesc Fabregas is going to leave Barcelona this summer and move to Manchester United.

Giants14

1.) Not going to happen

2.) If Moyes did pull this off, at least it would silence all the pessimists saying we'll be playing long ball football next season. Would be some story if Moyes signed the player, that when sold caused Arsenal to sign Everton's best player.

Nat

3.) You sound very confident! Maybe there could be an enquiry
Bren,

4.) I can't see it because arsenal have a 1st option buy back calause in his contract

5.) It doesn't matter if Arsenal have a buy back clause if the player wants to play some where else.

Carl

6.) Esteban Granero to man united for 6 million

7.) Carl, it would be lot of money as Arsenal will get 50% of the transfer fee! However I would love it to happen. He has already played in the PL. For 2-3 season he was the person with highest passes in PL and would linkup with RVP seamlessly!

8.) Everybodys favourite Spanish journo, GB, has said Cesc won't leave this year, but may next year.

9.) To be honest, Balague talks crap at the best of times. He has such a big mouth that I don't think he gets any inside info because all he does it announces it. Why would Fabregas not want to leave this year but would leave next year when he is getting even closer to Xavi's retirement. If he leaves I think it is this year or not at all.

10.) All rubbish!

Why would Fabregas leave his beloved barca?

Please guys speak sense.

Sid

11.) Sid

Why would rooney want to leave United?

12.) Just a thought on Moyes. People keep talking about his style of play but when Arsenal sold Fabregas they replaced him with Evertons playmaker Arteta. So his style cannot be that bad can it? Yeah sometimes it goes long and rough with Fellani but its hardly the long ball Everton of the Duncan Ferguson era is it? They do have some good footballers there. Whilst not United class the likes of Pienaar, Osman, Gibson and Fellani are all good footballers.

As for Cesc, well I would not say no!

Red Pedro

13.) I doubt this will happen- I know this may sound naïve in today's football. but I honestly I can't see cesc playing for pl another team, a part from arsenal- if arsenal put a bid in, he would go there, simple as.

BUT, if arsenal don't won't him back (unlikely if he is available), then that could be a different story. just my tuppence worth.

14.) Why would he go back to Arsenal? Massive step backwards and they aren't lloking like they are going to compete in the Prem or Europe for a good few years in my opinion. They constantly replace proven quality with £10-£15mil nearly men.

Whenever I hear Cesc speak he is very intelligent and any advice he receives will help him eradicate the nostalgia of Arsenal. Ultimately there isn't much place for it at elite level football. If Utd come knocking he will come in my opinion.

Ive seen a few rumours flying around this morning that Arda Turan's agent has confirmed that an offer from an unnamed side has been received in the sum of 33m euros and A.Madrid have a decision to make, the article stated it is 'most likely' from Manchester United

Any truth in this Ed's?

Giants14

{Ed002's Note - I am aware that his agent said yesterday that there has been a €40M but I know nothing more.}

1.) Turan would be a good signing. But it's a lot of money for him and there are others that €40m would secure. I doubt Reus would cost much more.

a website and daily mail have said that we have turned down a bid from chelsea for Ronney - 10m plus Mata or Luiz.

Bid has been rejected.

Imo I think we should take it with Mata coming to us. Mata was always the player I fear when playing chelsea - would be foolish of Mourinho to let him go.

We have been linked heavily with Fabregas and Alcantara, I can't see barca selling both but was wondering which one would barca prefer to sell?

Thoughts?

Giants14

1.) They would probably prefer to sell Fabregas but Thiago has a release clause for 18m euros as he didn't play enough games.

Personally and I know i'm in the minority here but I would prefer Thiago.

2.) Thiago

3.) Thiago, he will become another Xavi in 5 years.

According to reports in spain - Ronaldo has rejected a three year extension to his current contract.

Interesting to see how much they offered him - this might ever so slightly open the door to him leaving

Giants14

1.) Very interesting, this may force the clubs hand to sell him this year.

2.) 04 Jun 2013 11:50:10
I would say its just normal contract talks. Maybe he did reject maybe he didn't. But I still fully expect him to be at Madrid next season.

3.) I can't see it happening but if it did I would be so f*cking happy. I think you would see crowds at OT for the unveiling that you see at Real/Barcelona. I'd take my 2 year old daughter for her 1st visit and we could both get our Ronaldo 7 shirts even though I haven't bought one in years :-)

Just a shame I don't think it will be happening.

We really need a centre half and Otamendi looks the best choice of who is available - If we can maintain the same back four in Darmian - Smalling - Otamendi - Shaw we should have a strong, solid unit along with the extra protection our midfield will now serve.

As for going forward Pedro and a number 9 will probably give us a very good window - all our problem areas will have been addressed

I wondered this last night as well but from what I can see is the last qualifying stage is divided by 'Champion Seeds' and 'League Seeds'

Hence Celtic being Scottish champions they are seeded differently.

Wes369 - Fenerbahce were knocked out last night

Was the video fake?

Kane was among the subs bench when the teams were announced and was withdrew soon after - strange one to be fair.

Pretty stupid from Spurs playing two games back to back a couple of days before the Premier League season starts. Munich to London to Manchester in a couple of days? I'd be fuming if that was us

That's a decent read Jack.

Bookies aren't always right but they are rarely wrong. You don't see a poor bookie.

For me - I would be worried and disappointed if we only signed Pedro - Pedro is a great signing and an ideal replacement for Di Maria but we have lost RVP and Falcao - we need a striker.

Our defence is a mess and it will be a huge disappointment if we don't sign a proven CB.

Personally I don't think we'll be finished after Pedro. We have the funds and wages to sign proven class - it might be the end of agust before seeing anybody else though

I would love to see Vidal in a United shirt and for 20m is a steal- last year was too much of a risk but has proven he is fit and firing. I wonder if the DUI incident has changed things for some teams - MS- BS - AV - now there's a midfield

I understand your point regarding RVP and Falcao- they got got 15 goals between them last season but we have a larger schedule due to the CL and will need more squad rotation - if Rooney was to get injured for any period of time we would struggle- Our system will dicate and provide more goals from midfield etc but I do think we need a new world class striker

Rodio17

I don't think we can afford to sign no ST.

We have lost RVP and Falcao- historically two world class strikers, both have lost some of that ability although I still believe RVP could have done a job for us this season.

Having Rooney, Wilson and Chico will not win you the league- we also have Depay but I see him more as a winger.

We need an out and out goalscorer- Rooney should get us 20+ goals but we need that prolific top man that going to bang in goals for fun- the goals we hoped Falcao was going to provide.

The options we have are Kane, Benzema, Cavani, Lewandoski. All should do well for us IMO but will cost considerable to get them to OT

Bookedredmole - I will look forward to seeing them in the world cup - I know LVG likes to go for the youth but I do feel we need more proven players for next season than potential - don't get me wrong I love seeing the youngster come through eg januzaj but I believe impact players are what's needed particularly next season.

Giants14

Can I ask a question - for the past few weeks (ever since LVG was announced) we have been linked with players out of the Dutch team which is a natural assumption with Van Gaal being there.

But the names mentioned above - are they Man Utd quality?

I don't watch Dutch football and I won't pretend to know anything about it but I haven't heard of any of these players - i'm not saying for one second that because I haven't heard of them they aren't good players but if we had any other manager would people be 'hoping' for us to sign these players?

Im looking forward to seeing the Netherlands in the world cup to see how Van Gaal conducts his team and will look closely at these players but the question is will these players be good enough to win the title back?
