Looks as though Camavinga is off to Real Madrid. That would be him off the list before tomorrow's deadline. That leaves Neves and Saul. Personally I would love Neves but I think the more realistic option is Saul at the moment. A loan deal would probably suit us and he is available. We've had a good transfer window but I am still in dismay that we're one day away from the window closing and it's looking likely that Fred will me a mainstay in our midfield.

1.) 31 Aug 2021 06:51:46
Off topic but can someone explain why Madrid would offer €147 million for a player they can get for free in 12 months, seems an incredible waste of money.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 07:33:29
In terms of a midfield signing, I see Wolves have been linked to Renato Sanches from Lille. Always liked this lad, never completely fulfilled his potential but always been impressed with him. Wouldn’t mind us taking a punt on him as he’s only 24 and there’s a couple of Portuguese at the club obviously, to help him settle. Thoughts?

3.) 31 Aug 2021 07:42:57
Sanches at Wolves is better for the lad, a year of playing week in week out would be best for him after he recovers from injury.
The only possible transfer today apparently is Neves, and maybe Jesse going to West Ham although reports say the two clubs are far apart on valuation. Happy transfer deadline day everyone.

4.) 31 Aug 2021 08:28:31
Real Madrid the real winners of this window: batted lashes at Mbappe so sign for free next year, Pogba on free next year, who will then join Camavinga, bought with some of “MBappe” money they saved up, which leaves enough for Haaland next year!

5.) 31 Aug 2021 08:29:03
Nothing would surprise me. If I had to guess though, we’ll either sign nobody or somebody who we haven’t been linked with at all. Still not convinced Neves or Saul are what we need even though both would improve the team.

6.) 31 Aug 2021 08:52:27
Was I the only one who saw the Renato Sanches to Wolves link and immediately thought it improved our chances for Neves?

7.) 31 Aug 2021 09:23:25
Palhinha was apparently the replacement if Neves moves on. Tottenham were also interested.

8.) 31 Aug 2021 23:48:00
To reply to your first query grim they would get camvinga for free next year but so could united or psg
So maybe they are paying over the odds now to make sure they get him and make it look like they made a premium signing because they weren't getting mbappe.

Hi guys, barely post but love reading the discussions on here! I've got an old fashioned rumour here that I'm not even sure is true or not but it's come from a friend. He is a huge Spurs fan and did tell me about Bale and Mourhino coming to spurs before news really broke of it.

So here goes. Firstly he said that Kane wants to leave, but it'll be after the Euros apparently. He said that if he were to come to United spurs will do everything in their power to make dean Henderson part of the deal. He said Spurs believe we won't be able to get rid of De Gea and that they will be able to get Henderson plus cash for Kane. Wondering if the Ed's have heard anything to that nature and what would you guys make of it?
Please don't shoot the messenger. It was just a text I got that I found interesting and thought I'd share.

Hopper

{Ed077's Note - well Spurs are interested in Dean Henderson, irrespective of any Man Utd interest in Kane. DH is first choice for Spurs to replace Lloris.

1.) 31 Mar 2021 07:31:17
Thanks for sharing Hopper, great rumour.

2.) 31 Mar 2021 08:56:47
The thing with Dean Henderson is Chelsea wanted him last summer, Spurs and Arsenal have an interest this summer.

If we don't make him our number 1 this season then he will push to leave in the summer. He himself and his agent have made that clear. He feels he's good enough to be first choice, several other top four teams are/ have been interested in making him their No.1, which will only further enhance his belief that he should be first choice.

Which leaves us with a dilemma this summer, either stick with DDG which will likely mean we lose Henderson (probably to someone like Spurs, which means he won't be coming back), or we make the decision to make Henderson our No.1 and see if we can move DDG on.

3.) 31 Mar 2021 09:18:53
Good old fashioned rumour.

If it happens I'd be delighted. I want Henderson to succeed, ideally it'd be as United's number one but if he is going to be second choice again we'd be holding him back in his career so letting him go would be the right choice.

Kane would be an incredible signing, possibly akin to Van Persie, transformative to the frontline with a genuine top class striker there who guarantees 25-30 goals a season when fit.

4.) 31 Mar 2021 09:40:15
Kane would cost far too much. DdG would still be liability in goal.

5.) 31 Mar 2021 10:12:28
From what I've seen Henderson hasn't put a foot wrong in his run of games. OK maybe one goal I seem to remember he could have done better on a cross he flapped at. He's taken his chance and I don't see why he should now lose his place. There's clearly no chance of both of them staying next season to fight it out. I was dubious at first that I'd prefer Henderson but having seen him play more he is now first choice. The problem is that all the top players now 'hang around' while their contracts run down. Sanchez, Pogba, Bale did/ are doing the same and whereas a deal to sell Henderson I imagine would be straightforward, de Gea will be another pain in the arse and state repeatedly that he intends to stay and fight for his place regardless of what he really wants. Predictable but it's what any of us would do in a business situation to get what we want. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and it will just be a quick and easy £30m to PSG.
I can't see Kane going whatever is offered. That chairman is ruthless. Saying that we've had our fair share of players from them over the years and they got rid of Bale. But there are certainly no bargains from Levy.

6.) 31 Mar 2021 13:37:07
Spenno, currently I don't think there is a huge amount between DDG and Henderson. Both make the occasional mistake, while both have different strengths. DDG is still a better shot stopper than Henderson. While Henderson is better at coming off his line, commanding his area, and his distribution is better.

For me the difference is Henderson is young and learns from his mistakes, Whereas, DDG keeps making the same ones.

That's why if it was me, I'd make Henderson our No.1 and thank DDG for his many years of great service and sort a move out for him.

7.) 31 Mar 2021 15:48:12
I would snap Spurs hand off if they wanted Henderson as part of a Kane deal. Decent goalies are ten a penny at the moment, world class strikers are not.

Hi All
Haven't posted in about over a year but just wanted to say thanks to all the Ed's for the work they're doing during this window. I read last week via Twitter Reguilon was a done deal but Ed02 eluded to Telles as our first choice. Low and behold it's now being reported that Telles is close to joining us. Regardless of weather it happens or not it's shows us the incredible insight we have on this site via Ed02. It doesn't go unnoticed. Thanks to him and all the other Ed's for making this such a great little community. Now let's just hope for a decent season!

Totally agree!

2.) 19 Sep 2020 01:05:27
Here here!

3.) 19 Sep 2020 08:21:44
Telles was the preferred option for a left back, it's true. But Reguilon is younger and at almost the same price, that's why United tried, but as I said a couple of weeks ago, they would never consider a buy back clause, that was known from the beginning. Reguilon's preferred option was United. Still hope we get this over the line.

BBC reporting that David De Gea has agreed a new long term contract at the club and it looks as though he'll sign it when he returns from pre season. Wondering if the Ed's have heard anything on it? Cheers.

If it's true, it's great news.
The back 5 will be sorted.

Hi Ed's. First time poster but long time reader. Great site by the way. I saw Ivan Perisic handed in a transfer request today. He's been heavily linked with Arsenal recently and if memory serves correctly Ed02 did say our interest didn't end when Mourhino left. So I'm wondering would Mr Woodword be tempted in making a move in the next few days. Would be a bad idea in my opinion as we've more than enough forwards at the moment. Thanks as always!

Hopper

{Ed002's Note - Inter will make a decision tomorrow and that is likely to be driven by the replacement they have settled on arriving. Manchester United remain keen on the player but not the price. Arsenal are keen but only want a loan.}

1.) 27 Jan 2019 23:16:37
Interesting, hope we don’t do anything silly. He isn’t the right profile for the club right now and his numbers are poor.

Would rather look to Lozano.

2.) 28 Jan 2019 08:55:20
Welcome Hopper, enjoy 😊.

3.) 28 Jan 2019 09:25:13
Maybe Perisic is being considered for the wing back position.
Otherwise taking into account his age, he doesn't seem to be right purchase.

4.) 28 Jan 2019 09:58:15
I really Hope we don’t sign him! Not needed at the club. Defence is where we neee to invest.

5.) 28 Jan 2019 15:28:38
There is a thing with Lozano, railing against authority during his time with Pachuca, being involved in on-field incidents with little provocation, and picking up eight red cards despite at a young age: five with Pachuca, one with the Mexico U-23 team, and two red cards in his first season at PSV. Although a good prospect, i would rather move away from such hot heads, something that the team doesn't want right now.

Hi Ed's,
Firstly appreciate all the work you do and thanks to Ed002 for the transfer target breakdown, very interesting indeed. I've seen a few reports linking us to Saul Ninguez of Athletico Madrid. Just wondering if we have in fact shown an interest in him? I think he'd be a fantastic addition. Cheers.

Hopper

{Ed002's Note - Certainly in the past, Mr Mourinho wanted him.}

1.) 15 Dec 2019 03:55:24
Many thanks for your reply Ed.

16 Jul 2019 17:36:12
Hi Ed's. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we appreciate all the work you're doing at the moment. Lots of reports saying we're preparing a bid for Milinkovic-Savic. Do you know if there's any truth in this and if so would this be along with Fernandes/ that position and not a Pogba replacement. Hope that makes sense. Thanks as always.

Hopper

{Ed002's Note - Thanks, and try searching. I have no idea what “preparing a bid” means - looking down the back of the sofa for change?}

1.) 16 Jul 2019 18:27:05
Ahhh, that's where I left my £72m, doh.

2.) 16 Jul 2019 18:34:36
Bruno is a target regardless if Pogba leaves. it seems that if Pogba does go then we are after Saul (first choice - very expensive) and Milinkovic-Savic (second choice) . Two great choices imo. I would be very happy with selling Pogba and bringing in Milinkovic-Savic to compliment Bruno.

3.) 16 Jul 2019 18:58:55
Don’t think we will get both Longstaff and SMS. Would rather we signed the one with better technique as none of the players who have joined us in the last few years have improved very much technically.

4.) 17 Jul 2019 09:22:05
Longstaff may be eyed for the defensive midfield role.
He has high work rate and good passing range.
Ideally him and Matic rotating between themselves would be a fantastic option.

Some very interesting comments made by Bruno Fernandes after the nations league final in an interview with Amargo Futbol. He said "I will announce my future in the coming days, it is a club with great history". Hopefully it's us he's speaking about. At least one things for certain, he's not going to City!

Hopper

1.) 10 Jun 2019 05:18:24
In the past a player choosing these words would make me think he was going to Liverpool. These days though I feel that we are the club defined more by our history than our current success. Sad times, but a good signing if it pans out.

2.) 10 Jun 2019 07:19:26
If reports are to be believed, Woodward, who is our expert on all footballing matters and is an equal of Sir Alex on the football pitch, seems to think that Fernandes is not worth the asking price. 28 goals and 20 assists in one season does not impress our man, who happened to give Sanchez £500k a week, gives Jones and Smalling new contracts and to rub salt into injury, is about to give our prodigious talent, Jesse Lingard, a contract worth £130k a week.
We're in for an interesting summer.

3.) 10 Jun 2019 08:20:06
This was a quote I saw from one person on Twitter and I believe it was made up. AAA you are also better than that in believing Twitter rumours, Woodward is there to get us the best deal not just throw the asking price at teams and overspend, that’s not really how negotiation works.

4.) 10 Jun 2019 12:49:33
GDS2 I looked up Amargo Futbols page and as of last night their first story was that about Fernandes. It wouldn’t surprise me if they fabricated quotes but it seemed fairly real to me.

16 Feb 2019 12:25:47
I have been reading a lot about the concerns after the injuries we've got to Lingard and Martial. Both are huge blows and probably couldn't have come at a worse time but we've shown before under Ole we can still play without those two. My mind goes back to the Arsenal game where our front 3 was Alexis, Lukaku and Lingard. If you put Rashford in place for Lingard then not much else needs to change. My only concern is pushing Rashford our wide again but I feel like it may need to be done as I thought we looked very disjointed against Burnley when we played Lukaku and Rash up top vs Burnley. Would like to know what you all think.

I think Kroos would be too slow for the premier league. A little bit like Fabrigas was when he played for Chelsea. I understand the argument that Kroos will improve the midfield but are we not sick and tired of the big name players being drafted in short term to try and fix a mess . They usually end in the player being on extortionate wages and declining rapidly. I cannot see how Kroos would be any different.

Personally I think top 4 is the priority and we’ve got a fantastic chance to get there this weeekend with Chelsea playing City. I’d be reluctant to change the team very much as we look disjointed without certain players IMO. I’d rather start strong and hopefully have the luxury of a few goals and then start resting the likes of Pogba, Rashford etc. The game against Fulham in my eyes is as big as the one on Tuesday as we can break into that top 4, something that was unimaginable only 2 months ago.

Watching the lower leagues almost reminds me of top flight football from 15- 20 years ago. There seems to be more of a freedom to the way they play and certainly less coaching. Don’t get me wrong watching City is great at times but for much of it I’m bored. This may be an argument for another day but I feel the real entertainment in footballs top divisions is ebbing away with players being overcoached. That’s why I’m enjoying the play offs so much.

Cheers Ed for the reply. I agree with Danny as well. I cannot see him ever being at the level required to play for Man United. I’d be more than happy if he proved me wrong though.

Hi Ed, With this someone now gone and Fred playing so poorly is the club looking to move him on? Or will this not be decided until a manager is announced?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in him.}
