Hopefully Liverpool turning down approaches from both Bayern and Barcelona for Diaz will turn them both towards Rashford.
Juventus seem to be keen on Sancho, hopefully the knob will lower his wages and get himself the move.
I think Betis will pay £25 million for Antony, he has seemingly stated he will drop his wages to get the move.

Keano is magic

1.) 03 Jul 2025 12:44:47
Why is he a knob? Because he won't lower his wages than the club gave him contractually?

2.) 03 Jul 2025 13:44:55
No Angel Red. Because when he had the glorious opportunity of playing for Manchester United, he couldn't be bothered putting in the requisite effort and took the michael out of all the supporters who invested time and money to watch him.

3.) 03 Jul 2025 14:13:33
With most players I agree, but Sancho has equated playing for United with being imprisoned. Yet, when Chelsea offered him a chance to stay there, he refused to reduce his wage demands.

He can’t have it both ways. If he’s that desperate to leave, he needs to take a wage cut because no other club is stupid enough to pay what we are.

If he wants to keep his wages, we have to acknowledge that he would rather get paid £300,000 a week for doing nothing, than leave a club he hates.

4.) 03 Jul 2025 17:27:46
I don’t have a problem with him sitting on our bench getting his contractual wages. I think he’s a knob as I presume he wants first team football and wants to get back in the England squad. He needs to lower his wages to achieve that.

5.) 03 Jul 2025 18:21:04
I don't think he's good enough mancman. Wouldn't lead me to call him a knob.

Danny he doesn't need to, the last 2 seasons have proved him to be correct. Played for Dortmund and Chelsea. So he hasn't been earning 300k and doing nothing. He's been earning 300k and playing for 2 big clubs.

He doesn't have to lower his wages Keano. He will still probably get a move to a decent team this summer, sacrifice no wages and if he has a good year, could make the England set up anyway.

I don't begrudge him or think he is a knob at all.

6.) 03 Jul 2025 19:19:52
Keano I have a problem with him sat on the bench and even being part of the first team. If he refuses to leave, let him train alone and don't even let him play with the youth setup. Not sure on contractual requirements regarding game time.

7.) 03 Jul 2025 20:05:54
angelred, why do you get so triggered with opinions held by others? If folk think he’s a knob they think he’s a knob, big deal.
BTW, Sancho is a knob. Deal with it ?.

8.) 04 Jul 2025 01:21:27
Yep knob has it covered.

9.) 04 Jul 2025 20:43:22
Calling Sancho a knob is being kind.

Read today that Dan Gore welcomes a move away from Old Trafford and United would let him go for £1 million. Anyone think we should be trying to keep him? Gore has seemingly said he wants a step up from the under 21's/.

Keano is magic

1.) 29 Apr 2025 13:21:53
Keep him for what?
He is destined for a decent career in the lower leagues. If he is lucky.

2.) 29 Apr 2025 13:57:24
Well look what happened to our squad player McTominay. Just thought he had potential? A lot thought Gomes had no chance and he has been called up for England.

3.) 29 Apr 2025 14:48:41
Can’t keep everyone in the hope they might come good…
Let’s be fair ETH got rid of better than he bought, so McT is not nothing to go by, tbh I would rather Mc T or Fred than Ugarte and use the money to be added for a striker, Fred could not pass the ball 20 yards, Ugarte can’t pass 10 yards and very slow and not mobile…
But we can’t just keep storing players in hope they may come good, even first teamers let alone under 21s….

4.) 29 Apr 2025 15:46:35
Charlton palmer got England caps that's no sign he is any good.
I think gomes is available on a free i wonder who will snap him up he has done OK at lille.
Dan gore has not done well in his loan spells.
Ugatre is miles better than Fred imo, but limited in his passing range but his possession stats out performing Fred consistently. Which is a low bar.
I think we have as big an issue for our 2 midfielders as we do strikers.
Cas collyer and ugarte are really not great options for 2 starting spots. Bruno has had to drop back there this season. We need 2 midfielder as much as a striker or keeper. The lack of control and creativity in midfield is poor.
Can't all be done in 1 window so it's not easy to prioritise when there are so many holes to fill.

5.) 29 Apr 2025 15:50:27
Can't help but feel that Gore has been over taken by other players in the picking order of younger players and his loan deals have not exactly worked out for a number of reasons.
I would expect we either give him another loan in the Championship with a view that this is final chance, increase value or can come back and fight for a place. Or, we decide it is better to sell and get him a move with either a sell on clause/ buy back option.

Unfortunately I think he will not get to the standard we need going forward.

6.) 29 Apr 2025 16:42:03
Sell him with sell on clause.

7.) 29 Apr 2025 18:08:49
I think he missed the boat unfortunately. He was highly rated but got injured at just the wrong moment. Who knows what might have happened if he didn't get injured.

Either way it's kind of irrelevant now, Mainoo and Collyer have over taken him, while likes of Kone, McAllister, Scanlon and Thwaites are also highly rated and might soon be ready to push towards the first team squad.

If Gore is to forge a good career inn football he needs to start playing at the senior level regularly. To do that he will likely need to leave on a permanent deal.

He won't the first highly rated youngster to leave and he won't be the last. Charlie Savage is now playing for Reading in League 1, and Zidane Iqbal for Utrecht in the Netherlands. Remember when they had that phenomenal pre-season and a couple of good cameos at the start of EtH's tenure?

Some step up, most don't. But as a club we tend to give them more of a chance than most.

It's probably time for Gore to move on for his own best interests. I'd wish him well and hope he has a great career.

8.) 29 Apr 2025 23:17:07
he's had 2 loans and only played 3 or 4 games. my mates a port vale fan, they had him last year and he said in 1 half of football you could tell he was mentally weak and wouldn't make it. Hid behind an injury. Rotherham manager alluded to the same this season, We have enough of them, let him go.

9.) 30 Apr 2025 06:43:39
Oh so his possession stats are better than Fred’s, is that the same stats you always say that a certain poster uses to mask the truth!
So if we are using stats that normally you don’t like, what about running stats, what about passing to your own player stats, let’s just forget he played for Brazil very well too, no one saying Fred was great but I would rather have him in my team and the money in the bank then Ugarte in my team!

10.) 30 Apr 2025 12:13:02
Fred was used in the wrong position here tho he was never a holding mid was more box to box till UTD signed him Ugartes not bad dosent exactly tear it up obvs just a typical ETH signing. Ye i'd have kept Fred and put that money towards a striker tho i'd not have touched strikers with scoring records of Hoijlund and Zirkzee with a bargepole in the first place 9 goals at Atalanta 72 million fee was insane i get potential but that's a 10/ 15 million punt at best which is what he's worth now. Can make a good start in 1 window tumble no wasting money on more defenders which imo ain't that bad tho we concede loads problems are from the traffic cones in front of the defense can't hold or progress the ball so easy to play thro UTD are slow amd weak on the ball Amos wingbacks can wait his 1st one Dorgus so far been nothing special.

11.) 30 Apr 2025 13:18:44
As we can see from the players that have come through this season, if he was good enough he would have got his chance .

12.) 01 May 2025 06:48:56
I’m not 100% sure, but I’m guessing someone isn’t a Ugarte fan.

13.) 01 May 2025 11:48:56
TBH I am not a fan of one ETH signing, For the life of me can’t understand one of them signings, must have been an ulterior motive, surely. but for me the worst got to be Antony, because he worked with him for years, so should have known him inside out and know not only he not worth 80 mil, but was never suited to the premier and should have also known the personal baggage he had, that shows a total lack of knowledge…
So no not a Ugarte fan either or the rest.

14.) 01 May 2025 12:28:20
I'd noticed.

15.) 01 May 2025 12:38:23
Sure, sell Gore.

I actually quite like Ugarte and Bruno as a midfield pairing. I think it gets the best out of Bruno.

I'd rather Utd buy a pair of 10s or a 10 and a RWB depending on where Amad plays.

Collyer did well and needs more games. Kone is coming through. Let's see what happens.

Up front and GK are the priorities. Midfield can wait another year

The only issue will be if Bruno leaves and TBH I wouldn't blame him. Then Utd really are in trouble.

16.) 01 May 2025 13:42:15
I must admit i expected a lot more from Ugarte and i agree with Germansuppclub he is slow and gets caught on the ball a lot but unfortunately i think that he is currently best option we have to play that role.
We are not as open as we were earlier this season but that midfield is a real weak link in the United team. They way teams cut through us sometimes is mind boggling Lyon did it with 10 men in the last round.

17.) 05 May 2025 08:11:15
Ugarte isn't a problem, he's been good without being great so far. But then I think a lot of that is down to his midfield partner.

Amorim's system uses a double pivot in midfield, and he doesn't want his wingbacks to invert into midfield. That means the midfield can be outnumbered by a side that plays with a midfield three.

The solution to this is twofold. Firstly, the inside forwards need to stay narrower and press very effectively but also understand where they need to position themselves to cut off passing lanes centrally. At United this has been difficult at times when Garnacho for example who isn't a natural when it comes to off the ball movement is playing. Bruno two at times has a tendency to press relentlessly but that does mean he vacates space that can be used by the opposition to get the ball into midfield.
Secondly, Amorim tends to use a very energetic and mobile midfield double pivot. They don't tend to be expansive passers, but players with a great engine and understanding of space. They work together and with the inside forwards to cut off passing lanes centrally forcing the opposition to go down the flanks. Again so far at United Amorim has struggled to find the right partner for Ugarte. Particularly in the more physically demanding EPL. In Europe Casemiro has been able to partner Ugarte effectively, but he doesn't have the stamina or mobility to do so in the EPL.

To be honest Bruno has probably been Ugarte's best partner in the EPL, even though he has a tendency to over commit himself at times which has left us open.

Mainoo is a phenomenal talent, but he lacks both the athleticism and the reading of the game currently to fullfil this role in Amorim's system effectively and consistently. Which is why Amorim has preferred to play him further forward, while he develops at least.

Eriksen is obviously not a great fit and we have been at our poorest when he has played deeper. Maybe if Mount was able to stay fit he might be a good partner for Ugarte.

We've been linked with Ederson from Atalanta who looks an ideal fit, energetic, mobile, technically strong and relentless.

While if we were able to bring in a player like Cunha and/ or Mbeumo then we would have the right sort of player to play ahead of and work with the double pivot to force teams wide to try and progress the ball.

I don't think Ugarte is a problem, he just cannot transform the midfield by himself.

18.) 05 May 2025 10:26:49
Far too sensible an answer shappy.

23 Apr 2025 18:58:59

Keano is magic

1.) 24 Apr 2025 04:18:29
And Snidjer

Problem for me is nothing is that exciting even on that made up list, guess it shows where we are shopping nowadays!

2.) 24 Apr 2025 09:14:15
Surprised we’re not being linked with more keepers. Replacing Onana is as important as signing a proven goalscorer.

3.) 24 Apr 2025 12:48:28
German,

Who would you be excited by? That list is made up of a load of players who would massively improve us and it would be great if we signed some of them, who is it you are after? The top clubs are being linked with a lot of them players as well.

4.) 24 Apr 2025 13:22:09
I think trying to sell Onana will be hard.

5.) 24 Apr 2025 15:36:11
Clearly I excite you GDS, but that’s another story
And no no one on that list excites me, but like it also says it’s where we are are shopping at this time and if they excite RA that’s all that matters and he thinks he can get a tune out of them then great.
Being we are shopping at Lidl and if anything to do with me, which it isn’t I would go for Mateta beast of a player and works his socks off and can finish.
Along with Cunha yes and Odi back up
The rest of that list I would not touch with yours!

6.) 24 Apr 2025 17:34:30
Add Rayan Cherki to the list.

7.) 24 Apr 2025 18:26:53
Niko Gaitan not on the list?

8.) 24 Apr 2025 19:36:21
And…

Mastantuano

Johnny Cardoso

Ederson

Matata

Dibling

James McAter

Hayden Hackney

Chris Rigg

Man Utd = biggest club in the world = easy clickbait.

9.) 24 Apr 2025 21:22:10
German and GDS sitting on a tree
K I S S I N G.

10.) 25 Apr 2025 16:51:35
We will always be linked with at least 100 different players between May and August every single year.

Just part of the parcel of being the biggest club in the world (at least in terms of media attention) .

We also have numerous positions in the squad that need strengthening. Along with new owners who want change things and put their own stamp on the club.

I like this idea of the club looking to move early for players like Cunha and Delap. Players with buy out clauses and who are EPL proven. Getting deals for players like that done quickly will enable the manager to have the best chance of starting next season well.

11.) 26 Apr 2025 05:47:33
Not quite true being biggest club in the world media wise is it, maybe biggest club in England in the media, the media is as big in Germany with Bayern the media is as big in France with PSG as is the Spanish media with RM and Barca, but like most you seem to be blinded by everything United.

12.) 26 Apr 2025 08:53:08
He’s stalked Shappy for years it’s definitely not me he wants in the tree.

Mateta haha worse than a lot of players on that list.

13.) 26 Apr 2025 14:30:31
Really GDS, so what players from that list scored more goals then Mateta and more assist in the premier league this season then from that list….

14.) 27 Apr 2025 22:39:33
cunha.

15.) 29 Apr 2025 11:39:56
What was the name of the Dutch midfielder we thought we were in for every year?
The one that some thought was the answer to our midfield woes, and some thought was a slow carthorse.
He always seemed to be injured.
Probably Van something ?.

{Ed007's Note - Wesley Shny.... Snieyjd....Shneed... Wesley Sneijder ?

16.) 29 Apr 2025 14:05:51
No, Ed007 ? Another fella. Solid central midfielder. This is killing me. Don't want to resort to Google! ?.

{Ed007's Note - I'm lost too......

17.) 29 Apr 2025 15:38:46
Strootman! ?.

{Ed007's Note - ????

18.) 29 Apr 2025 19:03:02
That would have kept me up all night ?.

20 Jul 2025 23:20:52
What position can you see Rashford playing at Barca?

Keano is magic

1.) 21 Jul 2025 01:27:25
Probably 1st reserve for the front 3. He will play a lot i think.

2.) 21 Jul 2025 01:36:56
Bench ;)

3.) 21 Jul 2025 05:07:21
I hope he's a success so he's off our squad.

4.) 21 Jul 2025 05:53:46
Not bothered about where he plays, just looking forward to his outfit choices at Yamal’s legendary parties.

5.) 21 Jul 2025 07:01:48
Not sure why eveyone writes him off or alludes to him being no good.
He will do very well out there, it helps when you got great players around you and it will help him no end not having to be the star or the one trying to carry a poor team.
Yes he lost his way, yes there is clearly a problem, but he still is a very good player and it’s bit childish to write him off, just because he did not give 100% in final years for United for whatever reason.
I hope he plays exceptionally well and hits 15-20 goals too, he probably will get more goals than either our two new signings, least that way he commands a bigger fee.

6.) 21 Jul 2025 08:22:10
The fee is set with Barcelona so we won't get a bigger fee but the rest i agree with. If Anthony can do well there rashford certainly can if he applies himself, and i think he will.

7.) 21 Jul 2025 08:53:43
Who’s written him off? You’re replying to posts that didn’t happen again, who are you calling childish as nobody has done what you’re saying.

He stopped putting any effort in for us, was more interested in his life off the pitch, he could have been a United legend but ruined it all for himself. Fans just want to see commitment and effort, you can forgive a poor result or a bad performance if the effort is there but there has been none so fans have quite right turned on him. I also hope he does well at Barca, it’s his dream after all so he might actually try hard.

8.) 21 Jul 2025 10:10:39
He’ll work nicely in the Spanish league. Rashford and his entourage has played this one brilliantly, and gets to play for a much better team in a much nicer part of the world.

9.) 21 Jul 2025 11:02:49
I think Rashford will play a lot of football at Barcelona, probably rotating between the LW and ST positions. I also think he'll do very well there.

We've seen a fat less talented Antony do very well playing in La Liga for a far less talented Real Betis side.

Rashford with top quality players around him, up against lower quality opposition should see him play very well.

I think due to the bitter way things have ended at United fans are currently underrating his ability. He does have 138 goals for the senior team at United, which is no mean feat given that he has played in the worst United side in 3 decades.

He is a little streaky with his goals, and his overall performances lack consistency. Yet to be fair to him how much of that is due to him playing in a poor United side, being moved around positions, playing through injury, and not having any consistency with tactics due to constant chopping and changing of managers.

He's a player who in my opinion would have had a much better United career if SAF had been his manager for the past 9 years. A young player let down by the poor management of the club as much as his own devices.

It's clear that in the last couple of seasons he has lost his passion for the club. He changed from a player who'd stay after training to do additional practicing and who used to take a personal trainer with him on holiday during the summer to a guy who would go out partying the night before a game, turn up late and put very little effort in on the pitch.

Somewhere along the line the relationship between the player and the club broke down, and the player has been ringing it in ever since. While I don't buy the media narrative that he was "reborn" at Villa, he certainly showed more fight and application while there. If playing for Barcelona cannot reignite his passion for them game then nothing will, and he'll just continue to drop off. If he can refind his passion then there is a chance that he can get back to his best and maybe even find more consistency with better players around him and he could go on to do very well.

I hope he does reignite his career and he has a very successful spell at Barcelona (hopefully for longer than just next season) .

10.) 21 Jul 2025 11:28:59
We don't know why Rashford hasn't performed for us. Maybe we should reserve judgement. He is a Manchester lad and until recently we were proud to have him in the team.

If he has genuine reasons for not performing then I wish him well.

11.) 21 Jul 2025 13:22:12
Bang on Salford. I hope all ex staff do well elsewhere. I hope ole does well in Turkey and hope eth does well in Germany sancho in Italy and rashford in spain.
Just because they finished badly or never worked out at united doesn't mean i wish them bad luck elsewhere.
I don't care how well they do elsewhere they didn't do well enough at united so that's all that counts really imo.
Eth has taken over a good side list a couple of good players but got a couple in. I've seen it predicted on here that he will do a great job there i don't think he will but it would be nice to see him have a good season
Ole did his usual streaky stuff in Turkey won a string of wins followed by a string of no wins then another string of wins.
Rashford can't really fail to do well at Barcelona if he applies himself. They dominate in most games and that will suit him.
Sancho I'm less sure about but no doubt he has done better abroad away from the distractions of home.

{Ed077's Note - Leverkusen have lost their Best player, probably the best player in the league. They've also lost half of their defense. ETH has a real job at his disposal where he gets to show his real abilities, with nowhere and nothing to hide.

12.) 21 Jul 2025 14:01:48
Eric got off to a flyer in his first game in charge last week :D.

13.) 21 Jul 2025 16:19:14
Ed077 injured signed the best player in the league a couple of times in kagawa and miki and sancho didn't work out too well. I don't trust that league not too many come from Germany and replied are their form in the epl.
I do think wirtz is a cut above those but epl is like playing a different sport so it will be interesting to see how he does. Also, he is going into a better side than those lads did at united but its not an easy transition.

{Ed077's Note - my point is still the same. Leverkusen have lost their best player, who was probably the best player in the league too. How does it matter whether he is a success at Liverpool or not to Ten Hag's challenges taking over the Leverkusen side? Am I missing something or just plain stupid?

14.) 21 Jul 2025 16:55:04
Im not sure if your stupid ? but I did go off on a tangent. Changed the subject slightly.
Im sure eth will pluck a few gems from the market like he did here.

15.) 21 Jul 2025 17:43:41
Ed you are correct. ETH has nowhere to hide but he is on a real hiding to nothing. Lost the best play maker and attacking midfielder and didn't one of the or defenders go to Madrid. To judge ETH after losing to influential players and with a club that can't compete against the best when it comes to new players means he is certainly going to find it challenging.

{Ed077's Note - off the top of my head, TAH went to Bayern on a free and Frimpong signed for Liverpool. Plus I think Xhaka has left or is leaving.

16.) 21 Jul 2025 18:01:14
Rashford is a very good player and best LW and CF at Utd. He will do well at Barcelona. I wish him well, and will be rooting for Barcelona this season.

I was there on Marcus’ debuts, he’s one of our own and a Manc too. By all accounts he’s not fallen out with Amorim, just disagreed on the role and system. I also think Marcus is being pushed out my the ownership due to his earnings and affect on overhead, circa 10% of all wages.

He showed enough against PSG and over his loan at Villa, he’s benched Watkins immediately.

I’m also sick of the coded or loaded language about him, he’s also getting let down by his advisors (brother) and fans forget he played with a fractured spine and put his body on the line for the team. He’s a good lad all things said.

I wish him every success and would not be disappointed if he came back next season.

17.) 21 Jul 2025 19:12:45
Well said united road. He played through the pain barrier on multiple occasions for this club when he shouldn't have been playing at all.

Had to hire his own PR because the club were so abysmal at it when he needed it the most.

Been let down by the club on multiple occasions and has been through some really really bad times.

Good on him.

Gds for a fella that stopped putting in effort, he still scored 7 goals despite being left out of the squad in December.

The narrative that he was someone put partying all the time and not putting in the training is complete tosh. You'll point to Belfast, granted, he messed up. But for the rest, just all in your head ??.

18.) 21 Jul 2025 20:38:13
Dont understand why people protect rashford so much. He's made his bed, and shafted us on the way out by forcing his dream move. Glad he's going, unhappy how he has acted over past few years and in forcing utd hand to basically bend over to Barca. How utd fans can give him so much of a pass is beyond me.

19.) 21 Jul 2025 21:59:21
He had to hire his own pr for what angel?

03 Jul 2025 09:40:32
RIP Mr Jota. How sad.

Keano is magic

1.) 03 Jul 2025 09:44:03
Awful news condolences to all his family.

2.) 03 Jul 2025 09:48:53
Shocking news. Awful. Thoughts with his new wife, family and friends and also to Liverpool and the fans. Tragic!

3.) 03 Jul 2025 10:05:30
That really sucks! Such a young bloke and in his prime. Brings everything into perspective.

4.) 03 Jul 2025 10:15:08
You may hate your rivals, but we are all united by one thing and that's the love of the game. So its horrible to see someone taken in their prime.

RIP - thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones.

5.) 03 Jul 2025 10:19:55
Condolences to his family, both him and his brother killed. Only got married a few weeks ago and leaves behind three kids…. Incredibly sad for his family and his Liverpool team mates.

6.) 03 Jul 2025 10:20:14
Absolutely awful news, seems him and his brother were killed. Condolences to his family.
How incredulously fragile the life we take for granted is.

7.) 03 Jul 2025 10:31:40
I am shocked reading this.
Cannot believe this.

8.) 03 Jul 2025 10:52:21
Utterly tragic, and obviously goes above and beyond football. Only a young lad with a young family and only juat married to childhood sweetheart.

Just so sad ?.

9.) 03 Jul 2025 10:59:48
How awful. Completely caught off-guard by this when visiting Sky Sports for a quick browse of today's news. Never take a thing for granted.

10.) 03 Jul 2025 11:48:48

I don't know much about running a business or football club, this is just to get some opinions from other posters or Ed's.

GK - will and should we try and sell Onana and Bayindir and promote youth to 2nd choice and go and try to buy someone? We still have Heaton (I think), to step in if needed.

Def - Mazrouri, De Ligt, MaGuire, Yoro, Heaven, Dorgu and the new lad. So time to say buy to Malacia and Dalot. Are our young lads good enough to fill the gaps if needed?

Mid - Cas, Ugarte, Collyer, Mainoo. Who am I forgetting? Could Martinez do a job as a holding midfielder or even MaGuire?

Wings - Cunha, Amad and the four stooges. Muembo or like would be great as well. Out of the four stooges I would probably keep Antony and maybe Garnacho if he could change his stupid childish behaviour.

Striker - Hojlund has lost all confidence, would loan him out. Chido needs to learn from a decent scoring striker. Zirkzee could come good? We need to prioritise this position I think.

Keano is magic

{Ed077's Note - did you forget the club captain himself, BRUNO? Mount and Shaw as well. Why would anyone want to keep Garnacho is beyond me. He can't digest a rotation role and he's been replaced in the XI by Cunha. Antony has earned the right to get amove by the way he's handled his situation at the club.

Lisandro was moved to the defence at Ajax because of stamina and endurance issues. So I don't think he can hack it in the PL as a regular DM option either.

1.) 29 Jun 2025 16:31:39
Bruno really didn’t need mentioned i thought. Forgot the two injury boys, Shaw is ready to go down a few pegs. With regards to Mount I should have remembered as I think there is a really good player there if he can stay injury free.

2.) 29 Jun 2025 16:58:00
Maguire or Martinez as holding midfielders lol.

We have plenty of defenders on the pitch as it is, no need to be adding more into the team.

{Ed077's Note - 1 will be needed to cover in defence for injuries, the other will probably pick up another injury ?. Licha needs to have a injury free season or 2. Or else it's time to think of moving on from him

3.) 29 Jun 2025 20:46:45
This is my view, we will need youth to provide support.

GKs: I don't see us getting rid of Onana, but Bayindir will go for a small amount. Bring back Vitek as backup with Heaton in support. Give Harrison another loan, maybe in League One.

Defence:
RCBs Yoro, Mazraoui and Fredricson.
LCBs Licha, Heaven and Shaw.
CCBs De Ligt, Maguire and Kukonki.
RWBs Amad, Dalot and Kamason.
LWBs Dorgu, Amass and Leon.
We'll probably have to give Malacia another loan.

Midfield:
Ugarte, Casemiro, Collyer, Mainoo, Fernandes and Mount don't inspire a great deal of confidence defensively, but the latter 3 can produce real moments of creative quality. This means that RA might need to work out how best to blend his defensive selections to offset what his preferred midfield pairing lacks. I don't think either of Martinez or Maguire could be the solution. We might well need to use youngsters like Moorhouse and the Fletchers sensibly, but I think our midfield will remain a bit light and vulnerable.
Kone needs his loan and he might come back looking really special.

Attack:
With Cunha and, hopefully, Mbeumo, we will be refreshed with levels of guile, craft and drive that we sorely lacked without Amad last season.
I think we might still have Rashford at the club and, if he can just get over himself, he'd be good competition for Cunha. Maybe give some minutes to Ibragimov, Scanlon or Williams.
I'd be tempted to bring young Lacey and/ or Mantato into games now to see if either's ready for that step up and provide competition for Mbeumo.
I don't think we're getting Gyokeres because we probably won't be able to raise the funds.
Calvert-Lewin could be a suitable option, albeit one that is midtable standard - where did we finish again?
Obi, Biancheri and Wheatley all deserve the chance to stake claims during preseason, the latter might yet be sold/ loaned.

I've mentioned lots of youngsters and I do believe we'll occasionally need to tap into that well. I don't think we have a Class of '92 on our hands, but there's a lot of potential there.
I'm probably wrong, but I'm going to say that I think at least one of Kamason, Leon, Lacey and Biancheri will properly make that step up this season.

Being hampered in our quest to improve by Rashford and Sancho, I don't think we'll be ready to return to the top 6 yet. However, I think we'll be top half, actually score a decent amount of goals, and have a season that triggers a bit more optimism - fingers crossed.

4.) 29 Jun 2025 21:53:04
I just cringe anytime Maguire is mentioned as an option. As long as we continue to been think he might be remotely useful then we are doomed to mid table mediocrity at best.

Not limited to him of course!

5.) 29 Jun 2025 22:13:25
Keefy to be fair to Maguire he played much better last season than any of us expected.

6.) 30 Jun 2025 00:02:33
In a team that finished 15th Salford, Keefy is correct, Maguire is nowhere near good enough as a starter in a team with our aspirations.

7.) 30 Jun 2025 07:03:28
Watch out Ork, I made a similar post a month or so back about youth being a big part of our setup, only to be shot down.
But I think the writing is on the wall, youth will play a big part.

8.) 30 Jun 2025 09:55:11
Licha has had 2 rubbish injuries. My hope is that because they are not muscle injuries, he should be fine. We will need him this year.

9.) 30 Jun 2025 10:04:56
Licha had a handful of good games after a bad injury, now he's coming back from another bad injury - i think a lot of fans might be disappointed in him this season- can see him gone 12 months from now. The PL is very unforgiving.

10.) 30 Jun 2025 11:14:45
Jimbobred

Yes, but thems that shot you down will likely have given little in terms of alternative solutions.

Many elite players on a real upward curve and/ or approaching prime years don't view Manchester United as the ideal destination for success anymore and would therefore be expensive on every level - United cannot afford to be that stupid anymore.

Experienced players who have passed their prime years will only look at United as a last big payday because that's how badly the club has been run for too long.

Unless an elite player actually wants to play for the club, our only appeal is commercial - that appeal won't fuel the recovery.

There is so much whingeing I've seen about spendy Chelsea, and I do understand that it's bloody frustrating, but they have also been excelling with two other things we've struggled with because of our many years of mismanagement and incompetence.

Firstly, Chelsea are damn good at bringing through youngsters and selling them on for good profit if they want rid. Tyrique George and Josh Ancheampong have come through from their U21s recently and both look like they'd fetch a good price. Since 2022/ 23 there has also been Humphreys, Maatsen, Gallagher, Hall, Hutchinson, Colwill and Broja - all except the last two being sold on for decent profit.
In that same period, we've seen Iqbal, Mainoo, Garnacho, Alvaro, Hannibal, Kovar, Kambwala, Forson, Gore and Collyer come up from the U21s with Wheatley and Amass coming from the U18s.

Compare Chelsea's 5 sold U21s to our 6 and you can see the difference - all 5 of theirs were sold for more than £10m (4 much more), whereas none of ours reached £10m.
When we sold McTominay, they got more for Gallagher.
When we sold Alvaro, they got much, much more for a lesser player in Maatsen.
In fact, when we sold Alvaro Kambwala and Hannibal, Chelsea got more from just the sale of Omari Hutchinson.

The reason?
Simple really, their youngsters have developed better because of faith and senior gametime. Their respective ceilings might actually have not been viewed as particularly so much greater at the time, but they'd been able to develop their bodies and minds correctly so that they were better prepared as prospects looking to take that next step elsewhere.

We haven't given enough trust in youth for years and that is one of the reasons we are where we are. Other clubs know very well how weak we have been with negotiations for academy players because we don't give them enough time to step up, and so they are all desperately hoping a thick layer of that weakness still applies now because a Garnacho or Mainoo being available for a knock-down price is what they're all waiting for.

So yes, anyone trying to shut me down on this best come armed with the reasons why I'm wrong and what the alternative is - I'd fully expect to read little more than yebbuts.

The other thing that Chelsea do very well is scout prospects. I know some people disagree, but it's very blinkered to think the incompetence at the club was contained in-house at OT - imo, we've employed some proper lazy scouts over the years and the entire structure was clumsy.

So to where we are now - where before we should have put more effort into sourcing talent from around the world and shown far more faith in our youth prospects, I think we now actually need to.

11.) 30 Jun 2025 19:57:33
Don't disagree Ork with anything you have said.

My post was about aligning the squad with Amorim desire to have a smaller 23 man squad, and I took the opportunity to absolutely rid the club of all the dross, with minimal spending due to a reliance on youth.
This was intended to both lift the value of said youth players whilst also minimising our unnecessary spending and using the money from outgoing sales to clear some of the crap debt that we have on players.

The thing that I have tried to highlight more than anything is that we are in a period of our history where we are not aiming to win anything next year, realistically. The sooner that is realised, the quicker people will realise that signing a striker, two 10' ago a CB and a mid are unrealistic for our immediate goals.

Are those players essential this summer, probably. Can we afford them, no. Find another solution folks that allows us to improve upon a 15th place finish.

Does anyone know who our forward coach is? I would have presumed their job role includes improving a strikers awareness and positioning? Whoever it is needs sacked first as both Rasmus and Zirkzee have gone backwards. Same could be said for goalkeeper coach.

And the set piece coach.

But when they are playing against each other in training they must look world class….

I don’t have a problem with him sitting on our bench getting his contractual wages. I think he’s a knob as I presume he wants first team football and wants to get back in the England squad. He needs to lower his wages to achieve that.

If Ndidi is available for £9 million I would buy now. He could then be used to chase the Fab Four down until they did their job.

Read we signed another youngster. That’s two and both will propel us into the top 4. Also the young lad Leon and Hojlund will be a player reborn.

And wake up.

At one point in his career I would have put him above Diaz and Williams, he’s now third or fourth choice. If Barcelona could have brought Diaz or Williams then they have the money to buy Rashford for the reported £40 million, should we expect a loan deal coming in again. Should we say no considering they had funds to buy a player?
