Edp02 is it true, if you know, that utd are close to agreeing new 5 year contract with Pogba? I remember you saying a few weeks back that there were no discussions in relation to this?
Thanks as always.

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - I have no way of quantifying near but there has been an offer - his agent was in London earlier this week about another player and there may have been some discussion. Right now he has nowhere else to move to.}

1.) 17 Jul 2020 17:48:09
Thanks ed.

2.) 17 Jul 2020 23:31:15
It’s starting to make more sense by the day. Nobody can afford him right now and does he justify the kind of money we imagine United would like for his services.

It makes sense he has a couple of seasons without the pre-Fernandes pressure that was put on him. He will be around 28 prime age for his position and if he’s good enough the teams he wants to play for MAY come for him.

Just my opinion. Few lagers deep but there’s my bit

Take care all.

3.) 18 Jul 2020 10:28:24
The reality is that this summer isn't a great time to move for a top end player like Pogba. Firstly very few teams can afford to make an acceptable offer to Man Utd. Secondly, with every side suffering a drop in revenue over the next year, clubs will be more conservative with their wage structures. For a player like Pogba the best case scenario wage wise is someone matches his current wage, but in all likelihood he would need to take a pay cut.

I think Ed001 made a great point that maybe Pogba is in the best place as he is at a club that will indulge him as a player.

Ultimately it comes down to how committed Pogba is to leaving. His choices are sign a new deal (which the club will want to offer him), this will probably be he best chance at a pay rise. Or refuse to sign a new deal and leave on a Bosman next summer.

If he signs then great, if not then the club need to make the best of the situation.

4.) 18 Jul 2020 15:53:05
Don't know the hype around pogba, he's not even a top player and people are still thinking he has potential at 27.

5.) 22 Jul 2020 06:28:02
He does have potential, if he stays fit and committed. We certainly haven’t seen the absolute best of Pogba at United, partly because we haven’t surrounded him with top quality players like Juventus did, and like Madrid did with Ronaldo, which allowed him to develop into one of the best ever. I think we will see far more consistency from Pogba now we have Bruno, and I think he will be more committed and intelligent in his football.

07 Jul 2020 16:16:05
Dean Hendersons contract expires on June 2022 surely we will bring him back next year with some sort of road map that he is the future and he has that year to prove he is better than De Gea?
What we don't factor in is the pressure of being our No 1 as every mistake is critiqued like no other! He is only 22 but I think we run a risk of losing him if we don't prove to him he has a future! I think a year back here fighting it out with DDG would be beneficial to him!

Leonard

1.) 07 Jul 2020 16:27:01
Not if he's sat in the bench. Also, it's not much use if de Gea sits on the bench for £350k a week either. I think one has to go but there are only a limited number of clubs who will take de Gea on that money.

Imagine if Real Madrid came in for Henderson next year. that would cause a stir.

Ed002, I think you said Madrid aren't too happy with Courtois. Are they interested in de Gea and do you think there is a possibility they could move for Henderson?

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid have no interest in him at this time.}

2.) 07 Jul 2020 16:48:28
Not great either if DDG is on the pitch making more mistakes getting 350k a week?

3.) 08 Jul 2020 06:19:59
David being currently dissed and taken as a liability, is a big joke after all he did in “carrying” United post-Fergie era. Read Schmeichel’s view about this on the official United page. And that’s Peter speaking with experience and expertise. I am not saying we should not keep or ready Henderson, but we should also not dismiss De Gea in terms of what he can still offer.

4.) 08 Jul 2020 09:56:54
Henderson is a promising keeper, but he is not at DDGs level by any means yet. If he patient, he will replace him. He needs a loan move never year to a bigger club, with more pressure on him.

06 Jul 2020 03:57:32
Ed02 I know you have stated on several occasions in the past that pogba wants out. Given the C.V. and the knock on affect this is having financially for clubs to afford the type of fee his transfer would attract. Have you heard of any changes his thinking given the Bruno partnership and the potential of the team going forward with a few key signings? Are the club actively trying to extend his contract? Thanks again.

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - I have no way of knowing what he is thinking I am afraid. The club are not speaking with his agent at this time.}

1.) 06 Jul 2020 09:32:13
I think Pogba stays next season. If we continue to play well and look like competing he’s more likely to sign a contract extension though Champions League will be a factor too. That said I don’t think Real and Barcelona are chomping at the bit to sign him anyway.

2.) 06 Jul 2020 10:10:01
I think he will stay this summer, I don't see anyone offering what the club values him at. However, I don't see him signing a new deal. I don't see him changing his mind, he wanted Spain four years ago but settled for Manchester. Nothing in the past four years has changed his mind and I don't see anything over the next year doing so either.

He'll stay next season, then leave next summer on a free probably to Real Madrid which is his preferred destination.

3.) 06 Jul 2020 11:19:25
Thanks as always Ed. Would love him to settle down and finally fulfil the potential he has and drive the side forward. We can always hope!

4.) 06 Jul 2020 15:22:26
He won’t leave on a free next season. Not in a million years. He’ll either go this summer, sign a new deal or leave for free in two years.

I imagine he will end up signing a new deal at the end of the summer transfer window when it becomes clear the club aren’t willing to budge on their valuation and then end up getting sold the following summer. At his age it doesn’t make sense to stay at a club that you don’t want to be at for another 2 years when there’s a possibility of only having to stay for 1.

05 Jul 2020 10:21:49
Sun saying we have agreed a deal with sancho re wages etc through his agent and are now working on structuring a package that suits Dortmund.
Surely our priority shuld be to get world class centre back! Koulibaly perfect pick for me. Talk of Liverpool chasing him, imagine how strong their defence would be if they got him!

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool don't have the money for Koulibaly. There is every chance he will move to Manchester City. The discussions with Sancho's agent are about his outrageous fees.}

1.) 05 Jul 2020 11:02:07
Ed 002 do you know if Utd are looking at buying another centre back?

{Ed002's Note - They have looked at CBs but have not made any efforts to sign one and it seems unlikely unless Bailley were to leave permanently.}

2.) 05 Jul 2020 12:35:17
We currently have 7 centre backs and that's without taking into account youngsters should teden menghi who people keep saying should get a chance there's no room to add another without sales.

Jones - needs to be sold
Smalling - hopefully Roma loan with obligation to buy
Rojo - I think I've read somewhere Boca are interested?
Lindelof - probably our best
Maguire - next best too slow
Bailly - can be very rash has potential
Tuanzebe - lots of injuries hopefully gets a chance next year

Ed any interest in the top 3? need to get them off the books or at least know we can before we even consider getting rid of Bailly to bring in someone new.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United extended Jones’ contract and have made no efforts to sell him. Smalling is of interest to Roma and Rojo is available but would not be able to move to certain countries..}

3.) 05 Jul 2020 12:37:03
Is Ruben Dias at Benfica one of the CBs United have looked at? Believe Mourinho was a big admirer previously.

We definitely need to strengthen at CB. It’s a weak spot considering injury record of Bailly, Tuanzebe and Jones. Be interesting to see how much game time Mengi gets now he’s been promoted to train with the first team.

{Ed002's Note - He was a target when Mr Mourinho was at the club.}

4.) 05 Jul 2020 13:26:15
Seems amazing if the club haven't tried to move Jones on he barley plays and when he does he a liability.

5.) 05 Jul 2020 14:18:16
Thanks for yr reply Ed 002.

With Smalling and Rojo not likely to feature again and Tuanzebe and Jones not fit and not proven at the highest level it does make me wonder if all the good work being done in attack will be undone by the defence.

{Ed002's Note - In which case they should look to keep Smalling or Rojo.}

6.) 05 Jul 2020 21:34:15
Hey Ed,
You keep saying Rojo can’t move to certain countries.
Which countries and Why?

Thank you for the insight, have a nice evening and start into the week.

{Ed002's Note - I don't want to get in to detail.}

Lots of contradicting reports circulating saying sancho deals is on cusp of collapse others saying close to agreeing 90million deal!

I hate this prolonged uncertainty every transfer window. We need quality width in the team as the last few games prove without a doubt that teams bulk the middle restricting bruno and pogbas influence knowing if its played wide that's the move dead!

We need the likes on sancho to give extra dimension in attack that prevents the narrow through the middle reliance we have now.

Leonard

1.) 04 Aug 2020 22:58:26
Manchester United and a transfer saga. surely not. Swear that sometimes I think the club cares more about the social media interactions things like this creates than they do the actual player themselves.

2.) 04 Aug 2020 22:59:06
BBC reporting the club refuses to pay what Dortmund want and will look to other targets unless they budge on the price. Also states there are concerns in regards to the wage demands.

3.) 04 Aug 2020 23:21:41
It’ll go through. We knew what we were expecting. It may take a while but such deals will take some time. Patience.

{Ed018's Note - exactly. United will always pay up and Dortmund know it}

4.) 04 Aug 2020 23:31:03
We've been told a thousand times how complex this deal will be by ed002, we know that everytime we are involved in a big transfer the British media whip up a frenzy to get clicks and sell their rags.

I don't doubt, we will get sancho.

5.) 04 Aug 2020 23:31:41
We put out the same briefs for maguire, awb and Bruno.

6.) 05 Aug 2020 00:13:04
Yh this sort of posturing only works if the club follow through and pursue other targets, which as caolan points out doesn't happen.

7.) 05 Aug 2020 07:24:57
Same happened with Wan Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.

It’s just a media brief.

8.) 05 Aug 2020 09:31:00
I would not be surprised if this is just a tactic from the Club to build more traction on this transfer.

The club loves the social media numbers and a massive transfer like this will improve the stats.

9.) 05 Aug 2020 09:42:08
Yes it's a lot of money but end of the day if you want him that much you will pay it. Just pay up and get it over with. Imagine if this collapse, the United (anti-glazers) fans will be all over them with (lack of ambition) . I agree it's a lot of money but when does a player like Sancho becomes available. Think United just playing hard ball to be honest.

30 Jul 2020 18:26:52
If, as reports are showing, Raul Jimenez is on his way to us for 27million are to be believed.

How would he and the other forwards we have all line up especially if we sign Sancho as well?

I think Jimenez would be a great signing. Good work ethic, strong on the ball and good in the air.

Leonard

1.) 30 Jul 2020 18:41:59
All about adding quality to the squad now. Very good player, actually been surprised with how well he’s performed.

2.) 30 Jul 2020 18:46:49
His goals per game record is pretty good. I've no idea what kind of player he is though.

3.) 30 Jul 2020 19:55:02
I do not believe it one bit. But he would be a cracking signing.

I reckon they will plomp for ighalo anyway for another couple of years. Allowing martial and mason to fight it out. Would be a decent move.

4.) 30 Jul 2020 20:07:36
Would love Jimenez. Need some quality competition for martial and If we want to compete on all fronts, we need more of this. Ighalo no matter how he’s done, is awful. Martial will have no worries about him. He can’t dribble or finish. Sooner we get rid of Ighalo the better.

5.) 30 Jul 2020 20:37:51
Trumours,

Very harsh on Ighalo, ‘no matter how well he has done’, so you made your mind up and despite him being good for us you’ve decided he’s awful.

I think signing Jimenez is very unlikely.

6.) 30 Jul 2020 20:44:27
Eh ure joking?

7.) 30 Jul 2020 21:30:23
There will be no bashing of Odion Igahlo on my watch! Cult hero 😂.

8.) 30 Jul 2020 21:34:30
GDS2

sorry, my wording could have been better.
Yes he’s scored a few goals but it was against poor opposition. Did he get a goal in the prem? I just don’t think he’s good enough if we want to challenge. We need a big squad but I think we need a better back up than Ighalo. He wouldn’t replace the goals of martial if he were to get injured.

9.) 30 Jul 2020 22:16:34
It's a no from me, brilliant player but will be over priced. Trumours bit harsh on ighalo he's done ok imo, hard for any player to make a proper mark on a team when they play with a weakend team in the cups or the odd 10 minutes here or there, I think he's done what he was signed to do and has chipped in with a few goals when he's been given a start. I agree we need more strength in depth but considering we have rashy and greenwood who can play there it's not a nessecity.

10.) 31 Jul 2020 06:39:50
The rumors are not that he will sign for us for £27m, but that wolves have agreed a deal for his replacement (Paulinho) for that amount. A deal for Jiminez would likely cost us two or three times that amount.

I really don’t see it happening, not just because of the finances, but because of his age and the fact that there are several other areas of our squad that are in much more pressing need of reinforcement (the argument could perhaps be made that a new striker is the least important position when it comes to potential incomings) .

{Ed0666's Note - if you have the opportunity to buy Jimenez at a decent price then I would be salivating at the thought. He’s a brilliant player, a silky Teddy Sheringham if you will or a poor mans Bobby Firmino. I think Raul Jimenez would be an absolute sensation for you, links play superbly, makes space, has lovely vision and scores goals.

11.) 31 Jul 2020 16:05:18
I think they got the 2 and the 7 the wrong way round.

12.) 31 Jul 2020 16:35:56
Can’t disagree with any of that, Ed - but the key being ‘decent price’, which I really don’t see being the case.

I do think somewhere down the line we need another striker, but if signing Jiminez now means not signing a RW, CB or CDM (which I see as being much more important), I’d rather steer clear.

27 Jul 2020 17:29:26
Eds have there been any other movement in urd appointing a DOF? Read an article earlier that we are looking at Michael Zorc but I doubt there is substance to this?
Thanks as always.

Leonard

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

22 Jul 2020 21:06:58
I do think Chelsea will get rid of their goalkeeper this year and will go chasing Henderson.
He is 4th in the clean sheet table behind Pope, Ederson and Alisson. Pope is 28, young yes for a GK, but henderson has the everytbing going for him and they could get him cheap with his contract Ending!

Need to get his back next year for proper competition with DDG as I think he may be a liability!

Leonard

1.) 22 Jul 2020 21:58:24
His contract isn't ending soon. He signed an extension before he rejoined Sheffield United on loan last summer.

2.) 22 Jul 2020 22:15:38
His new contract runs to June 2022, Shappy. If he goes out on loan for another season, he returns with one year left. In football terms, I’d say his contract is ending pretty soon and if he’s not given chances next season I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t leave.

22 Jul 2020 20:55:00
What would u give to get Alxander Arnold to join us.

What a player with a Beckham like free kick!

Robertson not bad either.

Pains me to say it but they deserve the league.

Should be a benchmark for Ole to try and add width to the team!

Leonard

1.) 22 Jul 2020 21:09:32
Yup. Their fullbacks contribute heavily to their attack.
Difficult to contain them when they are in full flow.

2.) 22 Jul 2020 22:13:53
I’m sure it’s been done to death on the Liverpool page, but I’m surprised he isn’t played further forward. Like Bale progressing from LB further forward. He oozes class though, an absolute star. Envious of his impact but we do have players of that calibre coming through our ranks too!

Ed we can say that for the talisman in any team.
City will bounce back big time next year, hopefully we will kick on and improve with a few key signings.

Have your day, but its only a day!

Liverpoolmanc I did say on here you deserve the title. But I wouldn't start gloating!
You lot were very lucky re injuries, take one or 2 of your front 3 and were do u go! I hope real or Barcelona but trent and VVD over the summer!

But fair play at the minute. We will be back! Liverpool will not win it next year!

Leonard

{Ed047's Note - best you hope Bruno doesn’t get a long term injury then Leonard 🤷‍♂️

We need our 3 to watch and learn and they do have the potential.

Grim if we complain when we don't win every game then we are barking up the wrong tree.
West Ham are not in the correct league position, they are a better side than that and were playing to secure PL football next year so do not detract from who we were playing.

West ham beat Chelsea which in turn gave us the opportunity to be third in the league going into the last game!
Who, honestly, on this site would have not taken this pre lockdown!
This has been a season like no others and I do believe we can kick on next year and I agree re momentum.
We have August to look forward to for europa which will help mould and develop relationships on field.
Its not all bad people!

Exactly jred. Can't lie I was annoyed and shouting at the TV, wife, kids, dogs and everything else through that match but I would have bitten your hand off to be in this position 4 months ago!

It is clear and obvious we need reinforcing at the back especially left back. Williams is young and has potential but no end product as yet. Centre half needed. Maguire redeemed himself tonight and I do believe he has the potential to be a utd and England great.
Midfield we had no width and opposition know this so swamp the middle knowing we will play it wide were it will either be lost or played back. So a winger definitely needed. Up front we have a deadly strike force which have really only had a few games to gel. Greenwood is better than most out there and will only get better!
I said it before on here about Declan Rice he was everywhere tonight and hot the shot that pogba tried to catch! I still think he would be a great centre half for us!
Leicester now on Sunday to secure CL football will be a nightmare 90 mons!
GGMU!
