Ornstein reporting we've agreed a deal with Napoli for mctominay. Subject to him agreeing terms.

Norn_84

1.) 25 Aug 2024 16:24:53
Lets hope he agrees terms.
Best of luck to him I admire him for taking the leap.
Good lad and pro. Not my type of player but had good moments and done very well for himself.
Right decision to let him go and good for the books and allows us to reinvest.
Seems like a win win for all parties.

2.) 25 Aug 2024 16:40:35
Wish him all the best, good pro and never let us down. I think he will do extremely well funny enough.

3.) 26 Aug 2024 08:29:06
I really wish we were selling Eriksen or Casemiro instead, but it makes sense that McTominey is the easiest to sell.

I wish him good luck, and at least he got a move to a good team, and it's a beautiful area to live in.

23 Aug 2024 22:24:35
Napoli have offered 25m euro for mctominay. Sounds like we've rejected it. Really think we need to move him on so hopefully a compromise can be found. I don't see how he's worth the 30m we want considering he's only 1 year left.

Norn_84

1.) 23 Aug 2024 22:35:08
Others saying there's a broad agreement around 22/ 23m with addons to be agreed yet so could see a deal done.

Also talk of a loan with obligation for sancho to juve.

2.) 24 Aug 2024 11:57:55
Sounding more and more like Scott will leave. Sancho has been dropped from the matchday squad as well, which seems pretty ominous.

3.) 24 Aug 2024 15:09:24
They both need to be moved on asap as well as obvious others that are clearly not up to get us from mid table level where this team currently are to a squad capable of pressing onto top 4 let alone competing for title. Today’s performance prime example of lack of cutting edge up top and poor decisions in basic defending and needlessly giving ball away when playing from back. First team has not sufficiently moved forward.
Ugarte is a must and is poor (disappointing at best) that this deal hasn’t been completed prior to start of season.
Branthwaite should be brought in if finances allow and Lindelof leaves. Possibly Maguire as he’s a “fit” asset.
Ederson who I really rate would be big plus (if SM goes along with Hannibal)
A wide player if sancho and Antony can be moved out in addition to Pellestri.
I’d love to see the club bring in another striker. maybe Toney however unlikely.

I think we a still missing an amount of athleticism, by which I mean pace, height, power, physical presence and leadership. Still too easy to play against and easy to dominate.

However I don’t see too much happening prior to Saturday but want to remain positive and with the manager, management and SJR

Always important game but is MASSIVE now next Sunday, at home, vs Liverpool to set the tone for season ahead.

4.) 25 Aug 2024 07:42:07
Seems odd. Rashford yet again anonymous, when we have a decent player like Sancho, who apparently wants to play on true left, not even in the squad.

Now I don’t know what happens behind closed doors and in training, but that seems an obvious solution here.

5.) 25 Aug 2024 07:53:05
I'm starting to think, we should've changed the manager not just for the sake of the system/ tactics, but for the sake of some players as well.

6.) 25 Aug 2024 09:16:38
Blame the manager again. Rashford still can't be bothered tor in and when he does he is in an offside position. He shouldn't be caught offside so easily, yet he is.

Perhaps Sancho and EtH made up for the sake of it etc as more of a PR thing. The reality is, we really need another top winger this season. Perhaps holding out on players like McTominay may come back to haunt us. Last season Utd turned down £35 million, now, we can get just over £20 million.

7.) 25 Aug 2024 09:32:34
I didn't blame just the manager (he had his part yesterday though), I've said that something has to change. And what is the most common thing in football to be changed? Yesterday (even in the game vs Fulham) we saw the team playing like last season, which is very disturbing for me. Some players came in and still the style or lack of it is the same.

8.) 25 Aug 2024 10:06:09
ziko87,

I would have kept Mount and Bruno on. I do agree with you about EtH in that respect. With hindsight it's easy to criticise.

The lack of quality on the bench is there to see. Hopefully Garnacho starts ahead of Rashford on Sunday.

9.) 25 Aug 2024 10:21:03
Yeah, Mount had a better half than Kobbie, but he had some issues and had to come off apparently.

10.) 25 Aug 2024 14:17:04
I do get the feeling that ETH will gone by Xmas and RVN will be caretaker. Just a feeling that’s all.

11.) 25 Aug 2024 21:31:44
Eric79, Don't you think is too early to crucify ETH. The league just kick start. There are some team who might some how win their first 6matches but might not make top 4. In my Opinion though, the first 3matches are like pretty season.

12.) 25 Aug 2024 22:16:19
Both need go ASAP, sancho has been an attitude disaster and mctominay just isn't good enough. love his attitude but limited. If only sancho and a few more players had Scott's attitude, utd would be in a better place.

18 Aug 2024 20:23:44
Sky reporting that Fulham are back in for mctominay and should make an improved bid. Pellistri in talks with panathinaikos. Hopefully we can get these deals done and that should free us up for a cm and lb.

Norn_84

1.) 18 Aug 2024 22:31:11
Good luck to him. He’s a decent player, but not going to make it staying with us., and never good enough to start.

Mctominay I’m less pleased about leaving, as he’s a fabulous squad player to have. Much prefer to see money for Hannibal and Eriksen than him leave.

2.) 19 Aug 2024 00:03:59
Be great if we can get all 3 sold Eric.
Mctom is a decent squad player no doubt but finances dictate, if we can get 25m for hi. And 12 for the other 2 it would all be reinvested I'm sure.
2 of those rarely play any part nowadays and mctom will see his chances limited so all 3 can be replaced by ugarte and collyer.
If sancho and lindelof were to go too we might see a lb co. e in.
I'd really like to see a deal done with rabiot but I can't see it happening.
The fact that mctom is from The academy makes him more vulnerable in terms of he will be considered more attractive to sell, just at this point in time.

3.) 19 Aug 2024 06:50:16
Eric79

I totally agree on MC. He is so different to everyone else in our squad as an option and going by what various managers have said seems a top character. Its really a shame to see him go if he goes given others who are still here. I am still hoping we sell Sancho and Erikson but will not hold my breath on either.

4.) 19 Aug 2024 08:04:28
I think some people, and myself included previously are a little bit caught up with McTominay being an Academy player and that is a reason for him to stay. My honest view on him is that he is hard working, great commitment, good energy. All traits we want and have needed the last couple of years but truthfully from a football point of view, he isn’t at the level we need if we are working towards a better footballing team. I do think when I see some transfers that we should be getting £30M for him. If he was to stay I wouldn’t be disappointed but he will only ever be an impact sub for me and I think he’s a better professional than that and deserves to be a regular in the starting 11 for someone. From what I’ve seen, Collyer is a better footballer and should be bringing him through.

5.) 19 Aug 2024 09:45:39
I think he's a useful player to have, and is a great option to have. I've even seen posts lamenting the loss of Fred in recent weeks and I think the sentiment is the same with McTominay - he'll never have a side built around him, and will never be the first name on the team sheet, but there'll be a fair few games where we're light in the middle and need a no-thrills, decent option who'll give everything and do a good job. He has some value though which is something we're in desperate need of for new signings, but I have no doubt he'll shine in a 'lesser' midfield.

6.) 19 Aug 2024 10:10:21
McTominay can be hit and miss. He is a decent player, but if he leaves and that means we can sign a top player Instead, then I'm all for it.

Let's not forget he can be rather rash and gives away needless free kicks, when a cool head is needed. There is a time and a place to give away a free kick.

7.) 19 Aug 2024 13:12:26
I wouldn’t mind if the club offered McTominay a new deal and kept him around as a squad player. He clearly loves the club and always puts in a shift, which is more than can be said for a lot of the other players we have at the moment.

However, if he wants to leave and be a starter elsewhere and him doing so frees up the funds needed to bring in someone like De Jong or Rabiot, then I don’t think we should stand in his way.

11 Aug 2024 19:58:44
Awb deal being held up due to him wanting a pay off. Can't wait to be rid of these lot of players and can only hope we are smarter when providing contracts in the future.

Norn_84

1.) 11 Aug 2024 20:58:57
Didn't the club choose to exercise an option for an extra year? Had they not AWB could have left on a free. He's entitled to require United to compensate him for any loss of earnings as a result of the transfer. Since he was out of contract and his transfer fee to United written down to O the sale price will presumably all be profit.

2.) 11 Aug 2024 21:14:44
Norn, the issue here is the fact he still has a year o/ s on his deal with us at a supposed £90,000 a week. His new contract with West Ham is going to be for a lesser wage so he wants to be compensated for the difference.

We are always going to pay more than most clubs so this is an issue that could arise again.

3.) 11 Aug 2024 22:29:09
The main argument is that United have him the contract, so he’s entitled to it.

The other side of the argument is that he hasn’t been good enough and doesn’t deserve the money he’s been paid.

4.) 11 Aug 2024 23:09:20
Actually the issue seems to be that it‘s in his contract.
Apparently there is a clause in there which states if the extension is triggered any future transfer earnings will be split 50/ 50 between club and player.

Probably the same issue last year with Maguire.

Another sample of stupid contracting by Woodward, I am afraid.

5.) 11 Aug 2024 23:28:15
He's getting same wages at West Ham as he did with us.

6.) 11 Aug 2024 23:54:31
The issue is too much money that brings greed to the surface.

7.) 12 Aug 2024 01:05:18
If the player can force us to have to pay him to leave then he should, it isn't his fault the club gave him a stupid deal or contract it is the clubs, he should hold out for everything he can get.

All those people thinking this is going to be a quick fix meed to understand it going to take as long as these stupid deals take to run out to solve. United will be hampered every season until these aren't on the books any more.

Every pound spent hurts our ability to bring in the players we need, every pound spent on a player not up tobit hurts us. Every pound spent on a player who will not be there when we can challenge is a waste.

United are leeching money and we haven't learnt, the best thing we could do is get shot of everyone who isn't young enough to be part of a title challenge in 5 years time and that will mean some good players have to go but paying someone to help us finish 4th 5th and 6th and prevent us getting a player who will one day help us win the league is asinine.

The gap to City, Arsenal and Liverpool never mind others is massive we would be better off accepting it now and reduce our spend as much as possible now to free up money tomorrow to get the right people in.

It's not cause we have a lack of cash to buy that's the issue, its that we can't account for it on the books that we can't act. f.

8.) 12 Aug 2024 04:16:53
You are not wrong oakbark, except that we need to keep sponsors on board. This is probably why Fernandes has been extended. We need some stars now to bring the youngsters along and also give us some credibility in the league and with our sponsors.

9.) 12 Aug 2024 05:20:08
Fair play to him. If it’s in his contract he has every right to pursue it.

10.) 12 Aug 2024 12:00:22
He's only asking for what he is owed according to his contract.

Why should he lose out financially by accepting a lower wage while the club makes a profit on his move?

The difference in wages at his new club compared to his wages owed on the remaining years of contract with United should be compensated by the club.

{Ed002's Note - It is not quite as simple as that.}

11.) 12 Aug 2024 13:39:58
So in essence AWB is not demanding anything, there is a contractual obligation on the club to pay him an amount from any sale as he would have been eligible to walk away on a free. The club have benefited from this deal and now AWB is due whatever % was contactually agreed.

I don't know if this is a common thing with these extension, if not then Woodward was using it as a technique to get the players to sign and mutually beneficial.

Lindelof and Hannibal extended at the same time so could be same in the deals they signed.

10 Aug 2024 13:39:46
De ligt and mazrouii deals agreed per David ornstein. Awb close to West Ham. Good stuff. Now to top it off let's down the Bertie's ?.

Norn_84

1.) 10 Aug 2024 13:54:44
Today's positive news. Particularly the fb. He'll walk into 1st 11 imo.
De ligt will give us better depth and imo is better than maguire and lindelof and probably yoro at this point so better than what we have and we can't complain with that.

2.) 10 Aug 2024 13:56:06
He is something else Ornstein.

3.) 10 Aug 2024 14:27:16
Judging by his injury record he'll limp into the first team.

4.) 10 Aug 2024 14:52:16
Get what you’re saying shappy but I doubt an injury record really matters when it comes to us. York hardly injured his whole career, 2games with us and out 3/ 4 months. Hopefully de ligt will be the opposite.

5.) 10 Aug 2024 15:27:28
Got a feeling we go for De Jong next….

6.) 10 Aug 2024 15:40:52
Throw Tagliafico in and we’ll have the Ajax set!

7.) 10 Aug 2024 15:56:29
Never really seen much of either player. All I’ve got to go on is various people’s opinions.

Granted, most of the opinions are from non United fans. But the general theme seems to be “they are both poor”.

Obviously hoping they are wrong. I’ll wait and see them play.

Only alarm bells are the injury records for both and the fact Bayern wanting them gone, they don’t very often let good players leave.

8.) 10 Aug 2024 18:28:50
Not heard one person say Masraoui is poor, his injury record isn’t great but he’s a fantastic player.

9.) 10 Aug 2024 18:31:42
Fallguy

Who said they are poor. Their fitness records are miles better than our players. urban myths being promoted on this site and so much bs. We are getting two quality players under the new recruitment team.

Shappy

you will be eating humble pie on Mazroui, you are so wrong its not funny.

10.) 10 Aug 2024 18:55:07
Didn’t say it was on here where people said they were poor.

I’ve hardly seen either of them so I don’t know either way.

11.) 10 Aug 2024 19:01:18
Ahmad, am I wrong that Mazraoui suffers a lot of injuries. Here's a list of the year, number of separate injuries and the number of games missed for Mazraoui. You tell me if he's injury prone.

23/ 24 5 19
22/ 23 3 12
21/ 22 4 11
20/ 21 4 31
19/ 20 4 16
18/ 19 2 7
17/ 18 1 4

Since 2019 he's had at least 3 separate injuries every single year missing a minimum of 11 games each season.

12.) 10 Aug 2024 22:46:46
For reference over the past 5 seasons Luke Shaw has suffered 12 separate injuries and missed a total of 96 games for us.

Over that same time period Mazraoui has had 20 separate injuries and missed a total of 89 games.

If Luke Shaw is injured prone then so is Mazraoui.

13.) 10 Aug 2024 23:55:40
I’m sure the powers that be performed the same Google search and are happy with the stats.

14.) 11 Aug 2024 12:38:21
Spenno, hopefully it's not the same ones who thought signing an injured Hargreaves from Bayern was a good idea, or the aging and the increasingly injured Schweinsteiger was also a smart move.

There is a big difference between signing a player like RvN who has had one big injury that has fully healed and signing a player who has repeated injuries over a long period of time.

Players who constantly pick up injuries rarely grow out of it. Look at players like Hargreaves, Jones, Saha, Martial and Shaw at United.

Whether it's a physical thing, a mentality thing, or a bit of both who knows. But these players rarely stop having repeated injuries once a pattern of them has started.

15.) 11 Aug 2024 13:33:29
Well no, of course it's not the same powers as they've all left lol.

16.) 12 Aug 2024 12:41:42
Spenno, most have I think, but not all.

Either way the point it that everyone makes mistakes. I'm hoping that we have better people in place now along with a better structure to support making key decisions. Yet I still expect mistakes will be made, they are part of the course and even the best people working within a great structure make them.

I don't expect every signing to work out, I know some will fail to live up to expectations and some will flip entirely.

Mazraoui if he can overcome his injuries looks like he could be a good signing. Getting a player of his ability and quality for the fee we've paid is very good business.

Yet there is a reason why he was available for such a relatively low fee compared to his ability, and that is his injury record.

The club I think have decided to take a gamble on him as he's needed for a back up role and not as a starter (not to say that if he stays fit and performs that he won't become a regular starter) . They have a player in Dalot who is good enough and can still get better. Which means they don't have to pin everything on Mazraoui being a successful signing and they can afford to take a bit of a gamble with him.

My gut and my head says he'll be good when he plays, but that he will be injured a lot which will limit how valuable he can be for us. I hope I'm wrong, but to suggest signing a player with a similar injury record to Luke Shaw is anything less than a gamble is foolish.

Anyone see the video posted by the club showing Amorim visiting the stadium? He met staff and went through the museum etc. I'll over exaggerate here but we're winning the lot with this guy. lol not only is he a top coach but he has that aura about him, seems to be a really nice man. Can't wait to see what he does with this team going forward!

Norn_84

1.) 15 Nov 2024 15:26:22
He surprised few fans who were doing a stadium tour when he walked into the changing rooms.

Whilst thus may have been set up slightly, he appears to be very down to earth.

2.) 15 Nov 2024 19:07:33
Being shown around OT by Jason Leach, top fella, very good match day host.

15 Nov 2024 10:31:38
Article on malacia today in the mail. Glad to see the lad finally making a comeback and hopefully he can stay fit and get his career back on track. Definitely a player there and could really suit our new system. Hopefully we ease him back as it seems he's been through a hell of a time. Fingers crossed!

Norn_84

1.) 15 Nov 2024 11:02:20
Any light shed on what the actual issue/ s were?

2.) 15 Nov 2024 11:07:21
Damaged meniscus which was operated on then got inflamed and had to be opened again to remove fragments and then a few other injuries off of that. Also said the club were dealing with so many that he went abroad to get special one on one care. Feel for the lad and hoping that’s him getting back to football now.

3.) 15 Nov 2024 16:41:37
He's not the level we need. We need to move on these crocks we have at left back and get someone proper in.

13 Nov 2024 10:21:48
Howard Webb admitting that VAR made a mistake and West Ham shouldn't have had a penalty against us. who knew!

1.) 13 Nov 2024 12:34:36
I thought Ings was handball too as the ball was dropping but they were too busy looking at the contact.

2.) 13 Nov 2024 13:33:47
It was a nothing event (even if it ultimately gave EtH the boot) .
Staggered that challenges things like this have become national debates, and that weeks later they're still unclear lol.

3.) 13 Nov 2024 18:32:35
It’s gone. Move on.

4.) 13 Nov 2024 21:00:30
At some point we have to stop blaming the technology and start to look at the useless lumps using it.

5.) 13 Nov 2024 23:55:40
They are all of their face making videos so no surprise they are inept at their jobs. Hopefully this whole thing will make them take some responsibility, the top referees have got to where they are by licking the right arse holes on the way up, they don’t get there on merit and then people are shocked when they are terrible. There are great refs up and down the ladder that don’t get a look in because their face doesn’t fit and the whole things needs a reform, I wonder if this will be the start of it.

6.) 14 Nov 2024 03:30:27
Or we don’t let ourselves get into the situation where we rely on a favourable decision?

7.) 14 Nov 2024 10:02:45
What happened to clear and obvious? If that was the consistent ideal then I'm sure the majority could accept that, upon scrutiny for weeks on end in 4k slo-mo, a decision might not have been right afterall.

Similar to awb he wants a payoff from us and still has to agree terms? Do these payoffs happen all the time or is it just us because we’ve been ran by clowns for so long. I never hear about this with other clubs! Ed’s can u help with this one?!

Happily take a draw today, Chelsea are hitting their stride and are playing well. Looking for a big performance today and effort from all. There a certain Portuguese manager who will be watching…would love a win for Ruiz but I can’t see it.
