Eds, do you have any info relating to a bid for Sterling?

ODavis

{Ed004's Note - There's hasn't been one}

So the news today shows. Apparently we are "preparing one", which is presumably code for a lack of evidence or Liverpool letting the minimum fee be known to start the bidding.

2.) 04 Jun 2015 19:06:22
We have no interest in him.

3.) 04 Jun 2015 23:13:42
Why would Manchester United have no interest in Sterling?

Eds, do Manchester United have any registered interest in Benteke or Lukaku?

ODavis

{Ed007's Note - No.}

Good, let's go for Icardi then! Apparently inter have offered £60k a week? He isn't happy about that? Put a better offer on the table then Utd! We have all but secured CL, sorted! If that doesn't happen we have Benzema as back up with De Gea off to Madrid?

Re: Fabregas. Interested to know what's true and what's not. The press seem all over the place with this story and it offers an intriguing insight into how deals are done and why clubs might sell a player they fought so hard to get from Arsenal

ODavis

1.) I think we shot our wad last season won't happen this one

Hi Eds, curious to know how true this 50% of transfer fee sell on clause is in the Fabregas contract - as some saying it's 50% of profit - and whether it will prevent a deal being done by Chelsea (and possibly United)?

ODavis

{Ed002's Note - Why not lets ignore it.}

Lindelof and Maguire are both better than we had and need time to form a partnership and need a settled choice of fullbacks alongside them. Are their better out there - probably - but give these guys a chance. Our priority transfer area is midfield now anyway, not defence.

Chelsea got done. Simple as that. Looking for ‘what ifs’ is just a waste of time. Going into a game against Liverpool tonight they need to think about team selection rather than hitting woodwork. Quick tip: play Kante in CDM. Simple. That centre back pairing was not up to it.

Benzema also fits the model of play at United and the PL. totally agree but wrestling him away will be a tough challenge!!

Danny, the make up of who starts or who doesn’t is definitely debatable. The point is the formation and how it seems to suit the current squad.

I think you may see the same formation deployed more often, as it pushes everyone higher up the pitch and allows our strikers come wingers to be used effectively:

De Gea
(Romero)

Lindelof. Maguire. Rojo.
(Tuanzebe) . (Bailly) . (Jones)

Wan Bissaka. Pogba. Matic. Shaw
(Dalot) . (McTomminay) . (Fred) . (Young)

Lingard
(Periera)

Martial. Rashford
(Greenwood) . (James)

Other:
Gomes
Chong
Grant (GK)
Garner
Williams.

Shan,
The points off relegation line is just good copy. United are only 5 points off top 4. The issue is the team and that growing feeling that those in charge are in a mess they can’t get out of.

The issue is simple. Was this plan to appoint Solskjaer the right one? At the moment, the answer is no. So it’s all about what next. I sensed from DDG that the reason things are worse now, is no one believes it’s going to get better but no one knows if United will have the courage to admit the mistake.

Hi,
I think we reap what we sew. We have inexperienced players being led by an inexperienced manager and coaching team. You either panic and change it when you hit problems or you stick to the plan and keep going.

I would only remove the manager if things get worse and he ‘loses’ the dressing room.

For me, to manage a big club you need to be experienced and a winner. Allegri is that. Pochettino is going to be that. Solskjaer might be that. So will the Board stick or twist.

It’s not a complete squad yet.

If you think of two players for every position in the currently favoured 4-2-3-1 formation you can see where the problems are.

United probably needed two more in, in key positions but it didn’t get it done. Then the new players need some time to settle in. And then you add injuries to things and it’s no shock to see inconsistency.

We are going to need to pull something out of the bag to beat Arsenal on Monday, particularly if we are without Shaw, Martial, Rashford and Pogba.

In times gone by that is when you saw the likes of Fletcher or Park step up and getting a winning goal.
