is there any legs to the Icardi to United rumour, Eds?
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any rumour but don’t hold your breath.}
1.) 17 Sep 2018 21:23:40
Thanks Ed, he’d be a good signing, a young captain too. Will a good Director of Football mean we’ll unearth players of a similar caliber? Or Will he just bring negotiating for already high calibre players a smoother process?
{Ed002's Note - Icardi has hardly been unearthed. The unearthing of players comes from scouts normally.}
2.) 17 Sep 2018 21:34:58
your right, I suppose time will tell what a Director of Football will actually bring to the club, more drama likely, I think we’ve been a tabloids dream the past years.
3.) 18 Sep 2018 11:55:48
Do you mean Dybala op? He was linked in the rags as a swap with Pogba.
{Ed002's Note - I would not worry yourself about Dybala either.}
4.) 18 Sep 2018 12:38:23
Tabloids will make anything up with United's name. If we manage to win our CL match tomorrow, I can totally imagine the next day headlines to be " United harasses Young boys in a shocking scandal ".
5.) 18 Sep 2018 12:27:01
Ed,
Do we still hold an interest in Savic from Lazio. Pogba most likely to go and i think Savic will be a good replacement.
{Ed002's Note - The interest will still be there but the chances of signing the player are slim and I expect the club will need to look elsewhere for a solution when Pogba goes Singh.}
6.) 18 Sep 2018 12:27:01
Ed,
Do we still hold an interest in Savic from Lazio. Pogba most likely to go and i think Savic will be a good replacement.
7.) 18 Sep 2018 18:46:30
Ed,
Thanks for the reply.
Can i ask about the players we are going to target instead of Savic? .
{Ed002's Note - Manchester United are not making any efforts regarding a Pogba replacement at this time but if they were and assuming the manager remains unchanged then it would be likely the targets would remain the same as they have been with the club considering the likes of Toni Kroos and Lorenzo Pellegrini. Gedson Fernandes is still too young in my view but Mr Mourinho is keen. Maybe the toxics can see now the damage they done when the meeting was cancelled regarding a move for Saul Niguez - who someone associated with the club will still like to persuade to move to Manchester? Maybe Sam Allardyce will have his own views? We'll see but right now the club are not making a Pogba replacement any sort of priority and won't unless there is a push for something to happen in January.}
8.) 18 Sep 2018 19:11:33
Thanks for the reminder Ed002, player i was thinking of was Saul as i wanted to ask Ed001 if it's possible for him to write up a player profile on him. Lovely lovely player he is, also any chance we can sign Lionel Messi Ed? 😂😂 About time we get someone in to score freekicks👀.
{Ed001's Note - added him to the list. Wonderful player, I have been raving about him for years but no one else seemed to agree that he was special until now.}
9.) 18 Sep 2018 19:32:52
I really sat up and took notice when he scored the solo goal vs Bayern in 15/ 16, was exquisite, skill, guile, strength, precision, he is brilliant. If he played for Barca/ Madrid instead of Atletico maybe he would of been raved about much earlier Ed.
{Ed001's Note - yeah fair point. I remember him in youth football looking a class apart and wondering why he was only at Atleti, so you make a good point, they are overshadowed there.}
10.) 18 Sep 2018 20:03:39
Also seems to work very hard of the ball, rounded package. Fits in with Simeone perfectly, would have been nice if the meeting was held. lol.
11.) 18 Sep 2018 22:25:26
Is gedson Fernandes at sporting or am I thinking of someone with a similar name?
{Ed002's Note - You are obviously thinking of someone else.}
12.) 19 Sep 2018 11:33:32
Dear me we would be in trouble if Mr Allardyce is in th3 reckoning.
13.) 20 Sep 2018 01:22:13
Yes, this is something that is really worrying me a lot. Ed02 keeps mentioning Allardyce but i just don't understand how or why are we considering a very, i mean very average manager. Its just wrong if they want a British manager how about Howe?
29 Aug 2018 20:03:18
Is there any developments on Pogba’s possible transfer from United?
1.) 30 Aug 2018 01:44:37
I think its a case of when, not if unfortunately, SAF was right about his agent for sure, when he does go, he can take his roller and his chauffer and shove it.
2.) 30 Aug 2018 10:30:14
If it was good enough for Fergie it’s good enough for me was my barometer on things so if he wasn’t fussed on Pogba leaving back then it says a lot to me. Before we signed him I thought he was vastly overrated and he’s done nothing to change that opinion. If Pogba was sold in this window without a replacement would we really be that much worse off, I don’t think so, Herrera offers much more in a game certainly in terms of effort. Fred also looks very energetic and I know effort isn’t everything but effort is more than Pogba offers. We’ve been waiting for how long for Pogba to step up, I’m not sure we will see it.
3.) 30 Aug 2018 10:39:49
I think Fergie might have got it right first time around. he's probably sitting there now saying 'I told you so' 🙈.
4.) 30 Aug 2018 10:53:46
I think Pereira, could do really well in the more advanced midfield role, good range of passing, can beat a man and has a good shot on him.
5.) 30 Aug 2018 11:30:36
WRD, according to NC and Jred they watched him loads in serie a and he was brilliant.
6.) 30 Aug 2018 11:31:02
i agree tot66, pereira seems to have a level head on him too, i think he could be a real asset, i also think gomes could play in that no 10 role. I’m hoping Pogba will go to be honest, i’d much prefer out present youth to develop and look at him as a lesson learned, great talent is nothing without desire and integrity.
7.) 30 Aug 2018 11:32:41
Well we have one more day so we shall see. I’m sad he might leave, only because of the promise he has which he has only shown in glimpses with us. If we can recoup what we paid for him then I see no reason to block the move. Herrera is great, and Andreas could step up. Lingard has shown for us and England he can be a very effective midfielder.
Maybe the game in Spain or Italy is more suitable to his style?
8.) 30 Aug 2018 11:40:23
Maybe be was brilliant for the best team in the Italian league but he’s not been for United, the top players play well in any team.
9.) 30 Aug 2018 12:00:16
I'm not sure he was brilliant but he was good and was excellent in the WC .
He is far better than his current form for United would suggest.
Fergy said many times and in fact it's in his book that he wanted to keep pogba but the lad wouldn't sign a contract .
Don't forget we never sold him he left.
10.) 30 Aug 2018 12:37:59
I think his World Cup form is overplayed a bit, he was good in parts especially the final for that half and was ok in the tournament but was as absent for France as he was for united at many times.
He’s had a handful of good games for United but he’s never reached the level everyone says he can, maybe it’s not in him too, maybe he’s at his level.
Yeah he left for free, Fergie never moved heaven and earth to keep him tho. Overall, if he left today I don’t think we will miss him even without a replacement.
11.) 30 Aug 2018 12:47:35
Fergie wanted to keep him, people have short memories.
How about you get behind Pogba (our best player bar DDG) the same way you are urging us tk get behind Jose? He is a young guy who is trying our best and has the ability. Various coaches have had him playing like a world-beater, maybe when we have a different one he will be back to top form.
Certainly, there are no upsides to selling him as it is too late to replace him and there are few midfielders who have talent like he does at his age and the others who do would cost the heaven and earth.
12.) 30 Aug 2018 13:00:08
Fergy said he was offered a sizable contract, but he was always going to leave.
I'm sure the ed said at the time he was always leaving.
{Ed001's Note - of course he was going to leave, he refused to allow Fergie's son to be his agent.}
13.) 30 Aug 2018 13:13:13
I'm sure ed2 covered why pogba was always going to leave at the time.
{Ed001's Note - no idea but that is why he left and why Fergie refused to play him.}
14.) 30 Aug 2018 13:25:01
I though 02 said he wouldn't play him because he wouldn't sign a new contract .
I'm sure he called it 12 month before hand . Lot of debate on here at about given pogba playing time etc but ed no point the player and family want a move .
Not that it matters really, either way it doesn't sound like it was a purely football decision.
{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what Ed02 said, I am telling you why it happened. No youth player got played unless they joined the agency Fergie told them to join.}
15.) 30 Aug 2018 16:21:47
I get behind any player that pulls a shirt on for this club but if they are not good enough or don’t try for that shirt then I am not going to blindly follow them. There are too many that fall into the above categories at United and as for Pogba if he’s ‘the best at United bar ddg’ then he needs to step up and prove he is, so far he hasn’t.
16.) 30 Aug 2018 16:47:11
That’s an interesting snippet of info ed01, would the asu’s agency’s have taken as much advantage as the likes of raiola?
{Ed001's Note - Raiola gets better moves for his clients and looks after them like they are family.}
17.) 30 Aug 2018 17:48:44
is that a good reason to hate him or what!? thanks for all the info Ed.
18.) 30 Aug 2018 21:40:34
Most definitely able to play at a higher level. I just question his attitude and application when him me aren't going for him, like now.
Massive shame because he can do anything he wants.
19.) 31 Aug 2018 13:10:16
I thought Man United had supposedly broken off dealings with Fergie Jnr as an agent back in 2004. Was this not the case? Or did that only apply to first teamers?
01 Sep 2017 11:36:34
Did Bruno Amorim actually sign for Us?
{Ed004's Note - Doesn't look like it}
16 May 2017 07:40:25
Didn't hear his name mentioned in the Sharopod, do we hold any interest in Morata?
{Ed002's Note - A player Mourinho likes, but not at this time.}
1.) 16 May 2017 11:42:40
thanks Ed.
2.) 16 May 2017 14:27:01
Thank goodness. Much better strikers out there.
3.) 16 May 2017 23:05:35
I'd take him. That is all.
24 Apr 2015 11:43:26
Any interest in yarmelenko, from us or anyone else?
{Ed002's Note - Dynamo Kyiv accept that Yarmolenko will likely move this summer with strong interest from Fiorentina, Inter, Valencia, Napoli and Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City have dropped their interest but PSG are considering Yarmolenko as a possible option to replace Lavezzi this summer and it is possible that Spurs will look to him again.}
1.) 24 Apr 2015 12:11:28
Where's Lavezzi heading Ed?
{Ed002's Note - Try the European pages.}

Has anyone seen the highlights of the united u18s vs derby? I can’t find them online. Are there even any available?
01 Sep 2025 13:20:41
Some put there saying this wasn’t a good window for us, but we’ve been crying out for a good clear out and I think that’s been achieved. The Ins are quality and show promise and Amorim can work with a less divided dressing.
Outs:
Rashford,
sancho
Anthony
Garnacho
Hojlund
Lindelof
Eriksen
ins:
Cunha
Mbeumo
Loen
Sesko
Lammens
We’re still light in midfield but hopefully that can be addressed with some youth coming through.
1.) 01 Sep 2025 13:34:44
I would perhaps have liked a more experienced, but add a midfielder to the mix and this would probably be our best transfer window in the post-SAF era. The outs are just as important as the ins.
2.) 01 Sep 2025 13:55:24
If we take the board at face value and project 2028 is genuinely the target then we can view this summer as a major success. We have got rid of some high earners, players who over the past season have offered the team little to nothing and some who have been a down right virus.
We have brought in some quality signings for the season and next couple of seasons (some with more development than others) and we have reduced the wage bill significantly.
We will improve this season and hopefully get close to the european slots with a chance to go again next summer knowing that Maguire/ Casimero contracts will expire, that we can sell Sancho (if possible) with no PSR issues to worry about. Likely Bruno may have a deal with Saudi lined up and assume Onana will move if not number 1.
Midfield will be the key position next season to take us forward again.
3.) 01 Sep 2025 19:00:29
I think this has been our best window in many years considering all the facts, limitations and some dose of reality. For anyone who thinks a midfielder will be our downfall, show me a team in the pl that does not have flaws in one position. time to start winning games.
13 Jul 2025 20:41:20
Credit due to Maresca, not many weaknesses in Psg but he’s exposed one here. Chelsea are impressive.
1.) 13 Jul 2025 21:52:42
Just shows if you invest in quality it pays off more times than not. Add to that a team prepared to their socks off for each other and it makes a formidable opponent.
Let's hope Utds board manager and team all take note.
2.) 14 Jul 2025 06:03:20
But we invested in Onana, Rasmus, Zirkee, Deligt, Mazzaroui, Dorgu, the list goes on and not one of them nowhere near good enough to get in any of the potential top 4 sides, how bad is that, dereliction of duty by the powers that be that was allowed to happen……. problem still is, it don’t look like anything’s improving.
3.) 14 Jul 2025 15:32:16
As I said German. Invest in quality.
01 Aug 2023 07:48:51
Hi Ed, I noticed that you’ve not mentioned the amateurs much this year. Have United improved in their transfer approach? Is efficient recruitment something we can look forward to?
{Ed002's Note - Not so sure Evans was a good pick but not too much has been done yet.}
1.) 01 Aug 2023 09:36:58
Have we given Evans a deal then?
{Ed002's Note - There is a short-term agreement but a discussion over a longer agreement has an issue blocking it being agred.}
2.) 01 Aug 2023 10:39:03
Ed002
Tbf, Evans made Maguire look far more than the sum of his parts at Leicester so there's hope yet. :)
3.) 01 Aug 2023 11:57:12
Been away and Evans thing is a bit of strange one.
22 Aug 2022 22:05:49
Jesus, TheUndertaker that back fired!
27 Aug 2025 20:55:21
Mainoo wouldn’t make it into the grimsby team on this performance, never mind real and atletico!
27 Aug 2025 20:54:31
can’t see what amorim is excited about, but a good goalkeeper would be worth getting excited about. 3 of our last four goals have been absolute goalkeeping errors.
Ian wright spoke of the effect it has on a team after the arsenal match and i can’t help but think Amorim hasn’t been backed on this end…. yet.
03 Jul 2022 19:23:04
was that the one in the discussion page?
25 Jun 2020 22:43:17
should make penalties a less tense affair.
20 Jul 2019 20:54:54
Felix went to Atletico based on potential for €130m, Lukaku in the right environment has the potential to score 30+ goals a season. What message does it send if we sell players with that type of potential for less than market value? Especially when clubs are interested in pogba, who only fulfilled a fraction of his potential last season.
21 Sep 2025 14:41:24
I think the approached changed after the red card. United were more direct before it. They had to break down chelsea once they went down to 10. That ball into sesko and either mbeumo and cunha taking the knock down has been a tactic we’ve tried deploying in the first few games. Had Sanchez not fouled mbeumo, i think he would’ve scored.
04 Aug 2025 00:26:19
While the recruitment is focused on attacking options, it seems or real lack of strength is in our ability to clear the lines. A calming influence in defence is essential, maguire is last gasp and only intermittently. We need someone who can reassure everyone including the keeper and marshal the defence.
11 Aug 2023 07:53:53
110m is a huge outlay for caicedo, considering what west ham got alvarez for, and the fees being touted for amrabat. Most Liverpool fans i speak to say they’re crying out for a decent cb, not brightons midfield. I’m not so sure Liverpool will have as good a season as you think, after 2-3 transfer windows maybe but they’re a bit at sea at the moment.
04 Sep 2022 22:13:04
makes sense to give maguire a few minutes before Thursday, I’m sure he’ll feature and considering we’re 2 goals up at that stage and Martinez was pulling up it made complete sense to replace him. He was the only defender we put on though. Fred was put on to intercept and press, and very nearly setup 2 goals so i’m struggling so your point Ed14. But please elaborate on it so we can see what I’ve missed. It does seem ten hags in-game management was correct though.
07 Jul 2022 21:36:29
Thanks Ed, would it be regarded as unreasonable though? I know we should take media reports with a pinch of salt but the leaked contract that was published in Marca would lead you to believe that it’s a complicated situation.
{Ed002's Note - He was in England to complete the transfer of the player to Manchester United. It is unrelated to de Jong who he also represents. I have no idea what Marca have published.}
