Good luck at Watford James Garner. He needed a loan and hopefully this is a good move for him.

1.) 18 Sep 2020 17:34:17
Excellent move for him this.

11 Sep 2020 11:06:45
Ed002 do you happen to know if we have signed Charlie McNeill from City, and Ed01 do you happen to know how good a prospect he is?

If we have then this is another talent added to list of youth talent we have picked up this summer.

{Ed002's Note - The plan is to sign Charlie McNeill but compensation has to be agreed.}

1.) 11 Sep 2020 12:57:22
Was about to say the same Pog. Nice addition. We are building up some team of 16-18 year olds. Exciting 3 - 5 years ahead. If they can go in and give us 5 -6 quality first team players in that time we would have done well.

2.) 11 Sep 2020 14:00:36

Thought I replied to this but yes rumours he can’t sign professionally until 17th birthday which is this month. City and United prefer to agree compensation, possibly circa £1m, rather than wait 2 months for a tribunal. Originally in Uniteds academy moved to City 6 years ago, scored over 600 goals. No official word but the lad has been liking United players posts on social media.

3.) 11 Sep 2020 14:22:59
Seemingly £1,000,000 will do the trick.

4.) 11 Sep 2020 13:03:40
Hi ED02 - thank you very much for coming back to me on this. What do you make of all of our youth signings so far, and do you happen to know of any other planned signings for the youth ranks?

Have a great day and weekend Simon.

{Ed002's Note - I know nothing more of them than they are well respected.}

5.) 11 Sep 2020 15:50:24
The reality with youth players is if 1 or 2 make it in the first team from each youth level then you are doing well. We should aim for 4 or 5, but if we get a couple a year that would be phenomenal.

We have Rashford, McTominay, Tuanzebe and Henderson who are all 22/ 23 and came from the same youth side.

We have Greenwood, Williams, Laird, Mengi, Garner, Levitt, Chong who are all 18/ 19.

Of that 11 I can see 6 or 7 who have a chance of making as first team players, while the rest could become good squad players.

That would be a phenomenal return from our academy. While the likes of Mejbri, the three Spanish lads, the two from Sunderland and Charlie McNeil. Adds 7 more top quality young players to our academy. Which already boasts some very good young players.

We could well have 10-15 of our 25 man squad be academy graduates in 3-5 years time. Which really would be doing things the United way.

6.) 11 Sep 2020 16:09:35
Maybe isn't as bleak as people mske out,

7.) 11 Sep 2020 16:19:19
I know Charlie very well as my boy was with him at Utd before he went to City. He’s a good kid as are his family. Excellent goal scorer but lots of aspects he needs to work on. His nose was pushed out at City when they bought Delap. i'm on the fence about him but definitely worth a punt. Only went to City as they provided him with private education which Utd weren’t doing at the time for the younger lads.

8.) 11 Sep 2020 19:37:10
The Youth signings have been great this year from what I have seen of them. They all seem held in high regard aswell. The future looks bright, we have some decent young players already. Hannibal looks like the cream of the crop, I've been impressed with him along with mengi and pugimal. Hope a couple If not all of them get some game time this season.

9.) 11 Sep 2020 20:26:37
Great insight, cheers Blackpool 👌👍.

10.) 12 Sep 2020 04:54:14
Personally I’m very excited to see Ethan Laird, Mengi, Mejbri, Jurado, Elanga, Hoogewerf develop. I’m hoping Levitt’s loan to Charlton helps his development alongside Garner to possibly Blackburn. Chong seems to have started well in Germany as well.

11.) 12 Sep 2020 09:10:20
600 goals in youth team, sounds like an awesome prospect.

12.) 12 Sep 2020 10:43:03

I read about him a couple of months ago. He started in our academy but then moved to City, scored a lot of goals for them, something in my head says 600, but now feels unappreciated at City.

Just looked now and reports say he will cost just under £1m, to stop going to a tribunal. City are said to be negotiating over various clauses in the agreement. A tribunal could drag the saga out for several months, which both clubs would be keen to avoid. City are not happy to lose him. He can’t sign professionally until he is 17 and his 17th Birthday is this month. Over the past few weeks he has been regularly ‘liking’ United posts on Instagram, those of the United’s players.

He was coveted by several significant foreign clubs. Looks like another potentially very good signing at youth level.

26 Jul 2019 13:54:22
Henderson has finally secured his loan back to SU.

Hope he has a great season.

Wilder mentioned that the deal was hard work which is exactly what ED02 said the other day.

Great work again ED02.

1.) 26 Jul 2019 15:08:14
Great news - hopefully he has another really good season.

It won't have done any harm him coming back to Utd for a bit during the summer. Reconnected with the club and staff and got his contract sorted.

2.) 27 Jul 2019 00:06:17
Every chance the club were stalling to see if DDG would stay.

26 Jun 2019 19:55:25
Ed02 - do you know if we have shown any recent interest in Ozan Kabak? I saw your last update on the 4th March and wondered if the situation has changed or if the recent stories are recycled old news.

Many Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - He remains a cheap option being hawked around many clubs.}

1.) 26 Jun 2019 22:10:07
Many thanks for the reply ED02. Have a good evening.,

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 27 Jun 2019 14:33:59
Kobak moving to Schalke04.

11 Aug 2018 13:51:48
Ed02 - do you happen to know if we are still in dialogue with anyone regarding the sales of Darmian and Rojo?

Many thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Inter remain keen on Darmian and Barnett spoke with Comolli about Rojo.}

1.) 11 Aug 2018 19:09:09
That’s funny, because I need to speak to Rojo about his barnet.

2.) 11 Aug 2018 23:38:18
So we may still see Darmian go to Italy and Rojo to Turkey before the window closes.

Thanks as always for the info ed02.

{Ed002's Note - Stuff will happen.}

3.) 12 Aug 2018 11:05:14
Fingers crossed.

4.) 12 Aug 2018 12:42:33
That is great - thanks for the info ed. I wish them all the best but neither have been able to progress to the level required whilst here.

This will mean more room for movement in the transfer windows to come.

5.) 12 Aug 2018 20:59:59
Well with the Italian window closing this Friday the 17th we will soon know about Darmian.

If he does go i guess we will see Young at RB until either Valencia or Dalot are fit.

6.) 12 Aug 2018 22:18:33
Makes sense. Surprised we let TFM go out but may mean Jose will give Shaw a run out for a few games.

7.) 14 Aug 2018 04:50:05
I agree about TFM but he needs games and once Valencia and Depot are fit we have 4 for 2 and he needs games so this is best for him and us long term.

No Mengi for the U23's. Wonder if he will be involved with the first team at the weekend.

1.) 14 Sep 2020 19:27:05
Looks like it.
Ole rates him highly and compared him to De Ligt this week.

2.) 14 Sep 2020 20:22:31

Mengi may turn out to be very good, but call me cynical, has Ole said this after the accountants find the price for his target is beyond what they want to spend. Then United fans get excited about a young player and forgetting all about spending a big fee on a CB until next summer?

3.) 14 Sep 2020 21:12:00
Yeah, that's possible Red Man.

Really wish for our club to have brought on new recruits earlier to integrate into the team quicker.

I hoped the decision makers would have learnt from Bruno's transfer. Had we got him earlier, we could have accumulated more points.

Our first game starts in 4 days, let's see how the club responds.

4.) 14 Sep 2020 23:28:44
Mengi is very good and looks physically ready to step up (the issue generally with kids of his age), I love us bringing kids through instead of ‘shiny new signings’ which seems to be the way these days.

The amount of posts I’ve seen on social media saying all of our players are useless and unless we sign X and Y we will be mid table again is amazing. We were unbeaten in the league since Bruno signed and have added another quality player into the middle. This summer was always going to be tricky with C.V. and I still think we will sign a couple more, no point stressing about it, we know the guys in charge are pretty poor, but they do generally make signings and pay the money eventually. I’m excited for the season, VDB was brilliant against Villa, another impressive creative player added to what was already scoring a lot of goals. I think we are better than people think.

5.) 15 Sep 2020 12:08:38
The real issue will be if Mengi is part of the 1st team setup that gives us 8 cb’s for 2 positions. We need to sell and take what ever money we are offered just to get the wages off the books. Smalling and Rojo could have both been sold but we are asking for too much money for players that we don’t even want in our squad.

6.) 15 Sep 2020 14:30:45
PogtheDog, there is another option. We could play with a back three.

We only have Matic as a genuine CDM, both Fred and McTominay are aggressive defensively minded box to box players.

Yet if we play with a back three then we don't need a special-ist holding midfielder. We could in theory play any combination of our other midfielders.

While playing with a back three would also mitigate not signing a player like Sancho. We could play with a split front two and have a No.10, false 9 or second striker.

That would enable us to play more CB's, while mitigating a lack of a RW and lack of depth at CDM.

7.) 15 Sep 2020 16:29:25
We will sign more players before the window "slams" shut hopefully a CB CDM and RM/ ST😁😁.

12 Sep 2020 23:06:16
Well done Chooooongyyyyyy on official debut. 1 game 1 goal.

1.) 13 Sep 2020 08:26:03
He looked decent when he came on and his goal was well taken, I think this loan move is going to be great for him.

2.) 13 Sep 2020 09:39:32
We should encourage more loan moves to provide more exposure to players.

3.) 13 Sep 2020 12:25:39
I worry for Jimmy Garner. Didnot come on yesterday, is not going on loan yet. I highly rate him.

4.) 13 Sep 2020 16:04:06
Garner is heading out on loan, I think the finer details are being sorted. He wouldn't have played yesterday in case he picked up an injury that could derail a loan move.

5.) 13 Sep 2020 20:41:32
ah good to hear that Shappy. any idea where he is heading?

6.) 14 Sep 2020 14:30:00
There is talk of Huddersfield or Swansea last time I heard. It's about picking a side where he will get to play most weeks.

21 Jul 2020 15:35:29
Just looking at the league table now and the table from 2014 when Moyes was in charge. Looking back that has been labelled as our worst season since Fergie left but although we finished 7th we only won 19 games that season (50%) and finished on 64 goals scored and 64 points. We currently sit on 17 wins and 62 points with 63 goals scored. Yes we may qualify for CL next season but we still have so much work to do to challenge for the PL and CL. Luckily for us those around us have not performed as well otherwise we would have missed out on CL again.
I really hope we don't fudge this up and we get CL and build from there.

1.) 21 Jul 2020 15:49:56
The scouse won the league this year luckily for them no one got more points than them.

2.) 21 Jul 2020 17:35:16
We said Sherlock 😀😀.

3.) 21 Jul 2020 18:24:59
Once upon a time you needed to reach the magical 40 point mark in order to avoid relegation.

I think West Brom were the first team to survive relegation with less than 40 points with 39 back in the mid 00's.

Unless Brighton and West Ham win all of their remaining games this season then as many as THREE teams will avoid relegation with less than 40 points.

I'm not sure how helpful looking back at past seasons are at judging a current seasons performance. Certainly not beyond last season.

The league changes every season, new teams come in, some teams improve others go backwards.

16 Jul 2020 19:17:24
TFM starting tonight and Dalot on the bench. Ole does not like him. it would seem.

1.) 16 Jul 2020 19:36:17
Boy, where has he come from, never thought i'd see him play for us again.

2.) 16 Jul 2020 20:16:40
Very strange one, play a RB/ Defensive midfielder who hasn't played all season at left back. Dalot on bench. Also where is Chong?

3.) 16 Jul 2020 22:44:48
Thought tfm did very well tonight.

4.) 16 Jul 2020 22:46:05
TFM did ok - well done to him. He was such a promising talent when he came into the first team before injuries and poor form on loan took control. Odd as I see him leaving in the summer window back to the Netherlands.

Dalot not in the coach’s thoughts it seems.

5.) 16 Jul 2020 23:10:26
Whilst Dalot shows promise going forward I’ve always thought he’s not great defensively. He always seemed to run out of gas in games as well. Talented player in there but I don’t know if he’s good enough for where we want to go.

6.) 17 Jul 2020 04:41:39
I rated Dalot, hasn't played well recently, injuries and lack of game time doesn't help.
TFM was more than okay today, being asked to play an in unnatural full back position, out of nowhere with the game being his first competitive in more than year, against a hard-working palace side, even an average performance should be considered good.
If I was ole, I'd be pleased with him, I don't really remember him being caught out too much, when I expect a rusty/ out of position player to be caught out a few times.

I'd really like him to stay, he's still young. Can be our John o'shea kind of player. Don't know how ole sees but playing him in a game this, he has to be in his good books

Ole has really helped quite a long of youngsters or the 22 year olds shine. I really wish it's tfm turn too now, the next season.

7.) 17 Jul 2020 08:34:48
Agreed. I’d love it TFM can make it.

8.) 17 Jul 2020 12:38:25
dalot is not good defensively, so maybe that's his thinking. it's a good move if we need positive change then dalot would be a v good option.

01 Jul 2020 22:11:12
Great set of results and Moyes best rest for us too. very nice.

We need to sell all 3. Maguire and Lindelof seem first choice, then we have Bailly and Tuanzebe and now Mengi. That’s 8 for 2 positions. Even selling the 3 leaves us with 5 which is the right number in my opinion. The one thing we do lack is a left footed CB so that is what I would be looking for if the 3 were to leave and loan out Mengi.

Fantastic info as normal Ed002. Thank you very much.

So the biggest thing to take from this is the need for a DOF to take over from those currently running the ins and outs as they are s*8t at it. Lol.

That is not the point of the article. We only spend when CL qualification is required. Once we have CL we don’t spend, or very little. What were we expecting that after 10 odd years of this rubbish we would suddenly go out and spend over 100m on a single player having qualified for the CL already. The money grabbers don’t do that.

They only spend when their investment is under threat.

Every time I have seen mcT play that role he looks lost compared to Matic. His reading of the game and positional sense is poor.

Rojo 1.5m
Smalling 6m
Dalot. 2.12m
Jones. 4.5m
Lingard 4.5m
Pereira 2m
Romero. 1.4m
Bailly. 6m
Mata. 9m a year
TFM. 1.5m

Not 52m but still a very large sum of wages we could and should get rid of.
