Macheda has joined Birmingham on loan.

How in the hell is this kid still a United player?! And Bebe! Just give them away, there is no point in them being on the books.

Havent posted in a while, but still read every day more or less.

The last few games have been a blip in my opinion. But still. if you can't handle and beat a team that parks the bus, you aren't world class. We were looking great til these last few games. Chelsea, I'll take it. Title winners, narrow loss. Everton? Fluke. Struggling, but they somehow smashed us. WBA? No chance. I'm not having that. We dominated the game and lost at home to relegation material, unacceptable.

Loook at how Bayern, Barca, Real deal with relegation fodder. We need to sort our heads out and be able to beat these lower level teams or we're screwed. I think we'll do Hull over but this is typical modern United - making the task a lot harder than it should be.

I agree mate. We always do it the hard way; but on this occasion, we are making it extra hard.

2.) 02 May 2015 19:55:39
Agree with all that. We played well against Chelsea and were unlucky, Everton was a bit bizarre all round but today we looked short of ideas. I wonder how much the philosophy is impacting us, nobody seems prepared to take a player on so we simply pass continually with little penetration. I realise that if we had scored the penalty or RVP had put a chance away it could have been different but today was reminiscent of so many earlier games.

I do wonder about LVG, we need to support our Manager but listening to him is very frustrating. It might be a language thing but then again it might not be.

Merry Christmas lads. It's been a fun year so far, and let's hope there's plenty more to come!

Spare a thought for me, at 32 years old this is my first year away from the UK for Christmas. I'm sinking a weisse beer keg and thinking of friends and family in the UK!

I haven't been posting as much as I'd like to, but that's probably a good thing as I do wind some people up with my viewpoint! Merry Xmas to all the Editors too, you lads do a smashing job and keep us all informed.

Hope you all have a great few days, peace out!

All the best Red_Sky, the site wouldn't be the same without the arguments and differences of opinion so keep the posts coming.

Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Me again, lads.

Can someone shrewdly and slyly point me in the direction of a reliable 'venue' to watch the game tonight (in China)?

My usual venue - the Wiziwigana Arena - has been giving me a hard time of late, don't wanna miss this one.

RED_SKY

1.) Try usagoals or download xbmc its an amazing software which allows you to watch all the tv channela.

2.) Sopcast is sometimes handy. I pay for mine now, but Sopcast has several hit or miss links that work through trial and error.

Alright lads, haven't posted in a while but still read the pages daily.

I'm hoping to catch the Hull City game tomorrow night, will be a late-ish one for me but no work til 11am Sunday so i'm sure I can manage it!

What's the feeling?

I'm going for 3-1 United. Rough first half, but a late 15-20minute burst seals us the 3pts. Maybe 2 for Rooney and 1 for Di Maria. We need to keep picking up wins now, and retain that top 4 spot.

RED_SKY

1.) Noticed you'd been quiet, welcome back. I think we are due to click and give someone a hammering, hopefully tomorrow. Wayne seems to have found some form, Di Maria looked lively last week, if we replace RVP with Falcao or Wilson I think it will help. 3-0 or 4-0 for me.

Jesus.

Seriously, we deserved to win that game but when smaller clubs like WBA get 2 clear-cut chances and score twice, we are screwed. Simple as that.

We will win nothing without better CB's. Our defence is so porous, it's depressing. Rafael was the only good performer there, yet again.

Mata is slowly running out of time at OT, IMO. I like him a lot but he's fading bigtime and isn't taking his chance. Januzaj had a perfect opportunity to show why he should start and was one of the worst players on the pitch.

We're going to drop 6pts against Chelsea and City, so its all about how we recover from that, now. If we have the drive, we can still kick on but those two teams will eat our back 4 alive.

In January, we either sell one of Smalling, Jones or Evans and buy a top-class CB, or we're resigned to not making the top 4 again, sadly. Our defence is mid-table in terms of focus and performance.

RED_SKY

1.) Yoga are right and I think the whole team defends badly as a unit. This lot will win nothing. Shaw is worryingly bad. And if I was lvg, I'll get rid of smalling Evans and Jones. None are good enough. Our defence is an utter joke.

2.) I really disagree about the defense part.

Yes, we will win nothing without a better defense. No, we don't desesperatly need better defenders.

The blame for the first goal can be shared by Di Maria who lost his man, Shaw who didn't catch up and Rojo. The second goal was arguably because Jones stepped up, or because Rafael did not.

That right there indicates the problems don't lie with the individuals, they lie with the lack of communication. And it is not surprising given how uncommon it is to have the same back 4 for 2 games running.

Fact is, this was our best back 4, but they do not know how to play together. Rojo is a very capable defender, Rafael, on form, is one of the best right backs in the league and still young enough to improve. Jones intermittently shows absolute world class defensive capabilities marred by brain farts, but his age and his injuries count for a lot of his mistakes.

Fact is I can only think of 2 defenders I would have before Jones in the league, and they are both significantly older. Fergie believed him to be one of the top defensive talents in the world, and Jones has done nothing to disprove that theory. A 22 year old defender making mistakes on his way back from injuries is no more surprising than it is uncommon.

As for Januzaj, first start of the season playing for a new coach with new players with a different mentality, at the age of 19, how horrible. We should just get rid ( or stick with him like Liverpool did with Sterling, and were well rewarded )

Now Mata and Rvp have been beyond disappointing. No, I do not believe they were " rubbish " but for a combined price of 50 000 they have been beyond disappointing this season.

Van Gaal is learning from his mistakes. He dropped the 3 man defense, tried to use more width ( it ended up hurting us more by limiting Di Maria's involvement in midfield ), tried to get us to play with one striker, tried to use Mata in his best role, tried to play long ball.

He's learning by trial, and maybe a longer, world cup free pre season might have helped. But we are improving. Our passing is significantly better than it was last year, we are creating more, we are keeping the ball better, we are dominating matches better, and we are slowly improving.

It will take time for us to stop playing like 10 individuals, moving to 3 groups ( defense, midfield, offense ) and then having them all play with harmony, but the midfield has improved, the defense will catch up once the same names keep popping up on the team sheet and the attack will benefit from the solidity at the back

3.) 20 Oct 2014 23:25:57
We are going to drop 6 points against Chelsea and City? I have never heard anything ao pathetic from a united fan mate, how can you even say that, it sickens me united fans have just written off the next two games. We are manchester united, we don't give anybody 3 points and we will battle in the next 2 games, we will cause chelsea and City defence plenty of problems with our front line and both games will be entertaining and much better than last year.

Let's stop wallowing and look forward to better times, the football we are playing is miles better than last year. Are we anywhere near the finished article? No, but are we definitely going to lose the next 2 games? No.

4.) You sometimes draw and dare I say it even lose away matches like this.
it was always going to be a tricky one and I for one believe we played very well apart from two lapses . We were by some distance the superior team and on another day would have scored 6.
On another note fair play to fellaini he changed the he was superb when he came on.

I could see us chasing Mangala publicly for most of the summer, realising we can't afford him, then turning to Garay but I have a funny feeling that ship will have sailed by that point.

The Garay thing bothers me.

First, SAF earmarks him as a potential signing, which Moyes decides against.

Then, Garay almost joins a Russian club, before it falls through and our interest apparently returns.

If we don't sign Garay, it would be Dithering Dave at his finest.Let's look at the facts:

- 27yrs old, perfect age to add some experience to our CB options while not being 'too old' to make it a pointless venture

- At £10-15m (I believe), the IDEAL price, value for money.

- Very highly rated at both club and international level.

For me, it's a no-brainer. Moyes should have already secured this guy, considering Vidic and Rio will be leaving. He ticks all the boxes.

It'll come to something if we choose to lose our best players rather than the manager if it turns out they don't believe in him.

Then again, that would make us more money than losing our manager.

AGREE.
Steer clear of Moura, he'd cost a fortune and he snubbed us a year ago for, let's face it, the money.

Isnt Lichsteiner a RB?! We already have Rafael, Smalling/Jones, Fabio and Varela - pass, please.

Sanchez - on the fence.

Haven't posted for a while. Still been reading, though.

I hope the club has a plan in place. Valdes as the replacement for DDG would be catastrophic, never rated him highly, I don't care about what he's won. He's a liability. And he's mid-30's coming off an injury.

IF.

DDG leaves, I hope the club know its coming and have a solid plan to replace him. Lloris would be a great replacement, but we'd get rinsed by Spurs, but I guess we may have to do what it takes especially if they don't get CL and we do.

Other than Lloris, despite being a former GK myself, I am way off the pace. I don't know who the top-class European keepers are right now, and those who are available, would love someone more knowledgable to update.

Krul is a decent keeper but far from DDG level.

Lloris will be priced at £40m by Levy, so I can see us targeting an unknown young keeper and Valdes being #1 for 2-3 seasons. sigh.

Syd,

With Vertonghen being a lefty, do you think we'd just cut our losses on Rojo already?! After spending almost £20million on him this summer?

I think we'll be going for a RFCB, to partner Rojo if anything. With 2/3 of Evans, Smalling and Jones being kept and one being sold.

It was a stinker of a game but we got 3pts. We had a makeshift defence and struggled through, bit disappointed in certain star players not makig this 'their game' but its a win.

Didn't fill me with confidence but let's look forward. A draw, or win, at Arsenal would be excellent and then 2 winnable home games. we could take 7-9 points from those 3 and we'd be right in the mix.

We will never be perfect until we sign a worldclass leader for CB. But hopefully we can keep plugging away and take advantage of our immediate rivals being similarly inconsistent.

GDS

We always butt heads during the season but I'm currently a lot more optimistic than usual, I just don't fancy us in the next 2.

If we beat Chelsea, the reaction would be huge but don't you understand why? When we're dropping points to Burnley, WBA, Sunderland, surely beating Chelsea would provoke a big reaction.

I know what you're getting at though. I always take your points on board, I'm guilty of over-reacting with games like WBA. I just wish we'd signed a worldy for CB and we'd be top 3 by now, IMO.
