Spending x y and z on high profile players has left us wanting and not getting value for money so to speak.

Sometimes I think to myself, we would of been better off buying players who are premiership proven and don't cost too much. The high price tag and expectations really seem to knock our players wind out,

Jose holobas, Ryan Fraser, idrissa Gueya, Raul jimenez and Ben Mee.

These players could easily do better than some players at MUFC and cost far less than most recent signings.

1.) 17 Feb 2019 17:00:29
Disagree but fail to give your opinion.

I suppose our players are the best in their position yes? Holobas and Raul Jimenez have been playing with heart for the their team and manager ALL SEASON. Idrissa Gueya stats are all higher than NM go check it out Ryan Frasier has been a stand out midfielder for AFC Bournemouth ad Ben Mee is a left centre ex MC player head and shoulders above Jones at left centre.

So state your disagreement.

Looks like 4th might be securable after all.

That and sarri getting Sacked at 6.30 tonight.

1.) 10 Feb 2019 18:57:53
I don't know what's happening at Chelsea its a right mess, if they sack sarri it's back to square one again.

2.) 10 Feb 2019 22:34:22
Lampard will take over next season if he gets Derby promoted. I am sure they will follow the United lead for some positivity.

3.) 11 Feb 2019 09:53:35
Grant or Hiddink for caretaker then they'll look for whoevers the top rated coach in Europe and ruin him.

4.) 11 Feb 2019 11:48:31
Poch to chelsea?

5.) 11 Feb 2019 12:16:50
That would be funny and solves that issue.

6.) 11 Feb 2019 12:38:08
Jose return?

7.) 12 Feb 2019 08:19:09
When you allow the players to determine who they play for and who they don’t there is always potential for anarchy.

8.) 12 Feb 2019 11:22:23
When you play kante as an atracking cm there is the potential for anarchy.

9.) 15 Feb 2019 13:21:28
Lol jred. Both red mans and your own are true.

But that's he culture that Chelsea have created Red man and I think it's too far gone now to be reversed in the modern game.

31 Jan 2019 09:04:26
With fellani off the payroll, Ed is now willing to offer Martial an increase from 120k to 195k to sign a new 5 year contract and D. De Gea will get a nice 100k weekly top up if he signs a new 5 yr contract too.

Happy days ahead.

23 Jan 2019 23:00:49
Their may be 15 games to go that decide our final league position and I'm a little bit worried to say the least. CS is a liability in the box and PJ lacks the tools to be a decent defender. I wish Bailly took the chance to get back into the team due to the fact that the LCB position is our wekest point in the team.

We should be going all out to get Kalidou koulibly in the team but we will twiddle our thumbs and watch klopp sign him up and kick ourselves for not signing him.

1.) 24 Jan 2019 03:39:06
Kalidou is happy where he is, and not available for transfer for now.

2.) 24 Jan 2019 12:15:39
He is the obvious choice at CB, strong in the air, great with the ball at his feet and prefers to operate as the left hand centre back.

Yet, making this transfer in January without a full time manager was never going to happen. He will cost a club record fee for a defender possibly for any player.

You don't break club record fees for a player while you don't have a manager. If the next manager doesn't want him then the club have wasted loads of money and look very foolish.

3.) 24 Jan 2019 13:32:33
Bailly has never played LCB, he always plays on the right of the two.

We can't pin our hopes on the accident waiting to happen that is Bailly. If Arsenal are interested we should let him go, as Arsenal/ Europa League is his level.

As Kenedy said, Koulibaly seems happy where he is as has been mentioned by 002 more than once.

If we're to push on and challenge then we need to prioritise an established CB with experience of winning titles, and move Bailly, Rojo and Jones on to clubs suited to their level.

4.) 24 Jan 2019 14:24:57
Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Lindelof been starting LCB and been playing well?

I think the issue is finding a RCB to partner him.

5.) 24 Jan 2019 14:57:55
Lindelof played on the LCB under Mourinho but looks much better on the RCB where has been played by Ole.

6.) 24 Jan 2019 15:23:35
Koulibaly maybe unsettled in Italy because of the continuous racist attacks.
At 27, he would be a brilliant top class addition to our team. He could have similar impact which Van Dijk did at Liverpool.

7.) 24 Jan 2019 19:09:03
If there is any truth to the ongoing speculation then surely a punt on the £30m Alderweireld at a quarter of the price is the way to go? A proven top Prem defender whose absense would put a chink in Tottenham’s armour too.

8.) 24 Jan 2019 19:59:55
Spenno, I wouldn't be upset if we brought in Alderweireld. I do have two slight concerns with him though. Firstly his injury record recently hasn't been great, and at his age that is unlikely to improve. Secondly he is exclusively a right sided CB, which is the same as all our CB's bar Rojo. So that would mean one of our current CB's would have to play in their weaker position. Which isn't ideal.

That being said Alderweireld is an excellent CB.

9.) 25 Jan 2019 10:46:37
If Kouilably isn't available maybe we can enquire about his National team's CB partner Salif Sane (I know he just join Schalke this season but . ) or Jonathan Tah.

10.) 26 Jan 2019 06:45:38
I thought Bailly took a good step forward against Arsenal last night. He and Lindelof May still prove to be a good combination. Both are still on the young side for CB’s.
An experienced (though not old) CB would still be a good addition.
Then try Tuanzebe as the 4th, Smalling as a last resort.

11.) 26 Jan 2019 18:37:42
Only a handful must watch our games. I'm well aware Lindelof played LCB but that was under Mourinho. KenedyAndy is aware of my point

Lindelof is playing RCB now and Jones was LCB and was a liability hence me saying LCB is our weak point. It seems some posters would rather find argument or flaws on this site for any reason.

We are playing after Mourinho so my comments are present in position not asking for judgemental biased views poking posters with stick

As 002 would say RTFP and proof read h5y to think through.

20 Jan 2019 21:51:01
I guess it's a conditioning and fitness issue that becomes more and more of a struggle to hold on to the leading score.

It is more likely down to mourinhos out dated game where we were becoming stagnated in our play. The sideways and backwards play meant no pressing and less work rate so fitness levels need to be drastically improved.

Enough gloom and doom 7 wins from 7 well done Ole GGMU.

1.) 21 Jan 2019 06:05:24
Yes, the intensity of our pressing drops down drastically after the hour mark.
Hopefully, it gets picked up gradually over the coming months.

2.) 21 Jan 2019 09:37:24
There are several issues when settling into a new style of play.

For us we have gone from a team that runs the least to attempting to press higher and more frequently. That level of fitness isn't something that comes out of thin air and will take time to build up.

Also attacking patterns and combinations which just didn't happen before will have to be worked on, improved and perfected.

February is a tough month, we have been fortunate that we have had a run of games which on paper at least are easier to practice and improve. Over the next month we will see what this squad and this manager is truly capable of.

3.) 21 Jan 2019 11:13:27
Lingard and Herrera are two that work their bollocks off and then drop off mid way through the second half in games. I hope that Sanchez can seamlessly fit in to the fluid front three and that will alleviate one problem, Fred should likewise be able to dovetail in the midfield but he's only shown flashes of promise thus far. If both of those start playing like we know they can then we should be able to blitz teams for 90 minutes. Sadly, as Gary Neville said in commentary vs Spurs I don't see where Lukaku or Mata fits in to it.

4.) 23 Jan 2019 20:12:27
Thanks everyone for your posts. In time the fitness will get better.

What a player AWB has been today. he will have heavy pockets going to china.

1.) 20 Jul 2019 14:35:19
Why would he go to china? He looks like the best signing we have made since fergie left. Absolute best, no nonsense type of defender.

2.) 20 Jul 2019 14:50:27
I think he meant for our next game, Reman :)

3.) 20 Jul 2019 22:37:44
AWB is perfect example of money not being everything if the player is the right player. If he keeps this level of performance up he is going to have a cracking season. No-one will remember what was paid to bring him in.

I don't mean pay anything to get your targets, but if the player is the right fit and what you need then overpaying is less important.

Very pleased with our two new recruits, plus Tuanzebe and emerginging youth. There are lots of promising young players around the squad at the moment.

4.) 21 Jul 2019 04:52:33
Correct Noucamp

By heavy pockets i meant he had the inter players in his pockets he was defending against for 60 mins and even Skirnar ( Spelling ) got annoyed and kicked him down

Cracking player.

16 Jul 2019 22:48:59
Money spent on transfers since 2014:

1) Barcelona - £971.2m
2) Man City - £896.6m
3) Juventus - £844.2m
4) Man United - £800.5m
5) Chelsea - £788.9m
6) Atletico Madrid - £720.5m
7) PSG - £695.8m
8) Real Madrid - £679.3m
9) Liverpool - £643.3m
10) Arsenal - £448.4m

It would look better if someone? Could possibly write the amount of players bought in for each club since 2014.

1.) 16 Jul 2019 23:44:42
Be interesting to know how much was paid to agents too by each club.

2.) 17 Jul 2019 07:23:18
I hope Arsenal fans see this.

3.) 17 Jul 2019 08:18:23
Some transfer include bonused and installments.

4.) 17 Jul 2019 09:18:50
Juventus at no 3 seems quite surprising.

5.) 17 Jul 2019 10:27:57
I don’t get these stats. What’s the point?

6.) 17 Jul 2019 12:22:54
TRD. Last week on here, somebody asked why we aren't following Juventus's recruitment model of signing free agents.

Well, they've spent more than us!

09 Jul 2019 23:03:37
So Frank Lampard is in a better position as Manager than OGS because he has FOOTBALL ADVISORS?

We try the experience route and it brought out the toxics. We then tried JM who won trophys everywhere and that period stagnated, It ended up being Hoof it up the pitch to MF. The same has been said about the signings? it's all been wrong as we are spoilt by success and yes I agree OGS will sink also as the demand for success is instant and a vast majority of supporters have turned Blue.

We need to remember our roots and start fixing and repairing all that is broke off the pitch. The fans and old Trafford itself come to mind as we look and act like a championship club.

1.) 10 Jul 2019 06:09:07
would any top manager want to come in and deal with the mess we are in, with a ceo and board unwilling to rectify its mistakes and continuing to make new ones, no wonder we can't find a dof.

2.) 10 Jul 2019 06:33:45
Lampard has great football advisers around him but Ole doesn't.

Ummm, didn't some people complain earlier in the season that Ole was just Sir Alex's puppet.

Since when did arguably the greatest manager in British football history become a bad football advisor?

{Ed001's Note - since he advised United to appoint Moyes maybe? Being good at a job does not make you good at advising others how to do it. Doing is totally different from teaching.}

3.) 10 Jul 2019 07:43:26
Chelsea look in a mess, some blue tinted glasses on here.

4.) 10 Jul 2019 08:37:06
Jred, according to ed002, they are far from a mess.

5.) 10 Jul 2019 08:55:02
True Ed001, but then if the advisors are so good at Chelsea then why do they sack their manager every 18 months?

{Ed002's Note - You cannot relate the two things. Chelsea want success and have been getting success - so clearly what they have been doing works.}

6.) 10 Jul 2019 09:00:29
To be fair to Moyes he did a great job at Everton and at the time he deserved his shot at the big time

Unfortunately it didn't work out but that's football.

Only time will tell if ole becomes successful but to write him off with the current squad we have is disappointing

We all have to accept it's going to be a while b4 we will challenge again.

7.) 10 Jul 2019 10:03:43
Angle
Angle maybe the blue tinted glasses need to come of,3rd manager in 3 years transfer ban and just lost there best player .

{Ed002's Note - What mess are you referring to? They had a far, far more successful year than Manchester United last season. Changing coaches has not stop their success whilst clubs like Manchester United have lost all focus. Players come and go - they are transient.}

8.) 10 Jul 2019 10:41:21
They finished 6 points above us, never in the title race have a transfer ban, which raises questions about the running of aspects of the club .
There best player infact maybe the best player in the league has moved on, which will affect team performance even if he is only a transient employee.
And they have just recruited a championship manager with 12 month experience.
Chelsea have there own issues.

{Ed002's Note - They won the Europa League and got to the final of a domestic cup, and got in to the Champions League - and they don't have a flood of first team players looking to leave. Obviously they new a long time ago about Hazard leaving and made plans. Maybe it doesn't ask questions about how the club is being run.

You are making yourself look very embarrassing.}

9.) 10 Jul 2019 12:19:27
They're off now Jared, I refer you to Ed's comments :)

Maybe you should take the red ones off and just appreciate the fact that Chelsea are a far better ran club than ours. Unfortunately.

10.) 10 Jul 2019 14:19:18
Angle
Do you think Lampard is a better manager than sarri?
That having a transfer ban is the sign of a well run club?
Do you think Chelsea will be a better team without hazard?
What's your views on the fact conte and sarri left in the circumstances they did and chelsea are now on there 3rd manager in 3 seasons . A manager that has 12 month experience in the championship.
Chelsea have there own issues imo.

{Ed002's Note - Why are you making yourself look so stupid about something you are clearly ignorant of.}

11.) 10 Jul 2019 16:40:28
You're being told today jred. But keep going, it's quite funny :-)

12.) 10 Jul 2019 18:14:02

I've RTFP back to the 25th June? Someone explained in depth the Transfers, The post explained how Transfer targets are sought and bid for by XYZ and ED Woodward just signs off the fee for said player.

Anyone know what thread it's on Its not mumbles.

Has any of the perpetual regular posters got any info on Lukaku? . I'm seeing his face on almost every device I use claiming he wants to leave for inter?

I don't know if I'd be happy to see him leave? Imagine selling him at a loss and ( A BIG IF ) he finds some WC form at Inter? .

We would definitely become a laughing stock.

1.) 04 Jul 2019 06:33:20
No we wouldn’t. He is. It mobile and has a dreadful first touch, if the team plays to his strength then he will score goals but it seems we aren’t going to do that so it’s best he moves on. If he starts scoring regularly again then fair play and good luck to him. That doesn’t make us a laughing stock.

2.) 04 Jul 2019 06:59:17
He has his strengths and limitations.
At the moment we are not playing to his strengths.
It's probably best for both parties if he leaves provided we get an adequate replacement.

3.) 04 Jul 2019 09:48:07
I don’t understand how any club watched him play last season and is wanting to desperately sign him and pay seemingly around £70m, I’d bite their hand off.

4.) 04 Jul 2019 12:35:37
Congratulations on your coherent post, Tony.

5.) 04 Jul 2019 12:38:31
The problem is Inter don't seem to be able afford him unless they offload players. Hence offering us part exchanges and then the rumoured two year loan.

5 dislikes for an opinion and question. NOT A RUMOUR just banter. I ask myself why bother.

AJH,

Yes he went to Arsenal with promise of regular football I'm sure the Ed's can give in depth detail of why he went to Arsenal.

Many players dream of playing for their fav club not all get the chance in all honesty! I sure many Championship players who supported MUFC growing up!

Would go through brick walls to play in the first team. It's just too bad 90% won't get that opportunity to because we have too many deadwood, Overweight and Overpaid wasted potential. That only play well when looking for a new contract.

City paid more for their RB who recently spoke to reporters after signing a new improved CE. In the Interview Mr Walker told the reporter " When i was growing up it was my dream to play for this great club, I am now here and want to win for the fans ". I taught he was a spurs fan growing up.

Cheers DSG

It posted before I finished and I said that OGS and the board must feel they can do a job? . I'm also very baffled as to why hold on to them? They have to be seeing what we all see whilst studying reports and stats which can't be impressive to warrant the new contracts? .
