3 things
1. Injuries are unfortunate in some cases (yoro) but why on earth is hojlund doing pre season when he's been deep into the euros. Seems preventable if he'd been sat on a beach resting
2. I thought transfer business would pick up after the euros but its been so slow. Not just us but other clubs too. We've not even sorted out loan deals for our fringe players.
3. Maybe i don't understand how things work but how come city are selling players who have never played for 30 odd mil but we can't sell england or scotland internationals for more than 15m? I know contracts are getting low but seems suspicious or maybe i just mustrust them for the 100 plus charges, buying players from their own clubs and now being fined for delaying matches. I mean what benefit is there to delaying kick offs? Everything they do just seems so dodgy.
{Ed001's Note - one kick off being delayed was because it was the last game of the season and they then knew before their match ended exactly what result they needed to win the league.}

Unfortunately anything that is related to City is in high demand. Every other team thinks that if you worked or played at city then you must be good. This goes for players and staff. The Pep magic.
Although you do make a valid point on transfer fees. Fulham pay £30m+ for Smith Rowe from Arsenal who has hardly kicked a ball in 2 years. But then offer less than £20m for McT who is an international and regular first team player. I’m sure there are reasons for it, just seems odd.
United always have to pay over the odds for a player and always seem to get peanuts when selling a player. Guessing it will take a few years before this goes away.

Contract length and age obviously affects transfer fees and how much a club is willing to pay. But I think in McT's case I assume the low-balling is to save the dosh that will be needed for the wages, and also the reason we probably haven't seen as much interest in the players we hope to move on.

1. Players still need to train and play games to get up to speed for the season. Hojlund's game time was being managed, I think this might have been a case of the pitch contributing to the injury.
2. Transfer business across the continent has been a little slow for a few reasons. Firstly, players at the Euro's have gone off on holiday which means while deals might be discussed, those players aren't available to complete those deals just yet. Secondly, the distribution of disposable income across European teams is not equal. The majority of clubs are still reeling from lost revenue due to the pandemic along with new/ stricter FFP/ PSR rules which has limited the amount of money they have to spend. Many deals are waiting for a few clubs to start spending for the money to start moving to enable deals to be completed.
United for example need to sell players to both free up space in the squad, and give the club financial freedom to bring in players. Yet many of the clubs we could sell to haven't got the money to spend until they sell players first.
I'd imagine many deals are being discussed and line up, just waiting for the funds to pull the trigger. We might see a crazy final couple of weeks to the transfer window once the dam breaks.
3. City are not the only club selling academy players for big fees. Several clubs are doing this as the money received for those players entirely counts as profit. While for the buying club they get a homegrown player with potential who they can develop into a top player for a few years then potentially sell for a large profit in the future. While their wages are much much lower. McTominay for example is on 65k per week, while Cole Palmer was on 20k at City.
We have seen how players like Cole Palmer has exploded last season with Chelsea. At the start of last season the 40m they paid seemed like madness, by the end of the season it looks like one of the bargains of last summer.
Other clubs will be hoping they can find a player who can maybe match what Palmer has achieved.

ScubaSpartan, Mctominay has been average at best throughout his career and at 27 isn’t likely to improve. He also only has 1 year left on his contract and is on around £60k/ week.
ESR who Arsenal sold has barely played the last 2 years but looked a top prospect when he broke into the Arsenal team, and at 24 still could improve massively and live up to his early potential. He also had 2 years left on his contract and was only earning around £20k/ week at Arsenal.
The difference between the 2 is pretty obvious.

Fuser I disagree with that. Esr is a prospect while mctominay is ready to go straight in. He might not be a stater for us when everybody is fit but he's not a bad player, a full international who is 1 of the first names on scotlands team sheet, our 3rd highest scorer last year and also scored quite a few for scotland in euro qualifying. He is worth more than esr.

Sorry smith Rowe isn't a much better player than mctominay. he's hardly played in 2 years. He's a good player and if Fulham think 20m is enough then they're living in coko land. min 30m for him. Rather keep him to be honest.

They also know United need to sell to bring in players, so why not try and chance your arm .
We were happy with us to try and take advantage of Evertons financial plight to lowball them on JB.
It's up to the guys in charge to decide if we are better off making the moves or not, every sale frees up cash and they will have the spreadsheets out to work out what that allows us to spend now thanks to Amortisation and their plans around it for the future.

Why get a LB if we have 2 already. Ok injury issues last year but seems pointless buying a 3rd LB juwt in case they both get injured again. Only makes sense if shaw or malacia gets sold. Funds are needed to be spent on midfield not LB.

You have to trust the plan, trust the process. You know the plan amd process he never shares the details of or has any evidence of but always harps on about.

Why good luck to the next guy? The next guy might be smart enough to drop him and play garnacho whixh is what eth should so. I fear gsrnacho might go. His talent is too good for him to be sitting on the bench or playing out right. He should be 1st choice LW and would be at many a big club in europe.

Ten Hag has spent 600M in 3 seasons. Majority of the players he acquired are players familiar with his style of play. What excuse does he have?!
3 wins out of 7 so far this season. They were against Fulham (last minute), Southampton (winless) and Barnsley (League One) .
This is going to be a long season.

Wouldn't panic on ugarte. Mctom is now finalised so expect that will lead to ugarte announcement shortly.
But looks like we are stuck with cas, lindelof ,sancho and eriksen despite the more optimistic posters claims of at least 3 of those going and expecting 2 or 3 in.

Id be happy with a cm or 2
But i can't see it. Interest in casemiro seems to have waned, lindelof is injured and I've not read/ heard of even the slightest interest in erikson
But fingers crossed something happens.
