I have just read two rumours:

First, that United is interested in Hudson-Odoi - how could he fit to the squad? Is he strictly LW or he can play more positions?

And second, that United is looking to sign another GK (Schmeichel) and that Henderson isn't ready for a first choice GK. Not mentioned what is happening to DDG. I don't see a reason to bring another GK, while we need to focus on strengthening other positions, so this couldn't be true, could it?

Another click bait rumour doing rounds today is United offering Sanchez, Smalling and cash to Inter in exchange For Milan Skriniar.

2.) 02 Aug 2020 11:02:13
Just a hunch, but I would say there is zero basis for either rumour and the papers are making up stories.

3.) 02 Aug 2020 12:07:44
I was thinking the same. Would like that exchange with Inter tho.

4.) 02 Aug 2020 12:32:23
I wouldn't want Skriniar at all. While he is a better defender than all our current options, he looks slow in the fairly leisurely paced Serie A. I think he'd be murdered every week in the hurly burly end to end EPL.

Hi Ed, is there any truth in United being linked to James Rodriguez?
Further more, could he be a good fit?
Would signing James mean United would not go for Grealish?

Thanks!

Trololo

{Ed002's Note - James Rodriguez (AM) - a high end Columbian is wanted in Miami with JR the preferred choice but JR will want more time in Europe with Juventus and Manchester United the preference. Juventus were open to replacing Dybala and have lost out on Eriksen and expect their first choice AM player to complete a move elsewhere, so James Rodriguez might well be an option but right now the situation with Dybala has been resolved. Manchester United still want an AM who can cover the left James and offer something different to Bruno Fernandes - and JM will talk with them. The preference is Grealish but JR is a far cheaper option. Wolves have "strong ties" with JM but a move there remains very unlikely.

1.) 27 Jul 2020 12:51:18
Thanks Ed!

Is there any deal that United is close to finish?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer "close" questions.}

2.) 27 Jul 2020 12:56:53
I personally hope we get Grealish. He looks to be ready to take a step up whilst James has been at top clubs already and it doesn't seem to have worked out so you'd have to question his desire.

3.) 27 Jul 2020 13:29:09
Close in terms of details being agreed with at least one side (club or the player) :)
Its kinda frustrating that we always prolong the deals we make.

Dark Knight, I would agree about James, but I didn't really look at Grealish, and I certainly wouldn't like United to pay 60-70 mil, just because he is English nationality player.

4.) 27 Jul 2020 16:54:37
I´m from ColOmbia (not ColUmbia), but first of all I´m a MU fan.
Right now I would not like JR with the MU shirt, to me is clear that he has an attitude problem; I believe he would end at Newcastle or Everton and may recover his form, but he is not used to English football, and may struggled as most of other colombian players have struggled in the past.
It would be a major improvement of players like Fred (That I hate) or Pereira but I don’t think it is what MU need.

5.) 27 Jul 2020 16:54:57
I agree its a lot of money but the way i look at it is we get a very good squad player who will be fighting for a first team place so he would have to up his game which could make him into a top player. He'd be a good player to bring in if Rashford, Martial or Greenwood have a dip in form. i'd rather bring him in than Lingard, Perrera or Daniel James tbh.

6.) 27 Jul 2020 17:53:03
I could agree on that, he is better than mentioned players for sure, but I hate seeing how English players are overpriced, just because of nationality. Maguire wasnt worth 80 mil, and i don't think Grealish is worth 70, which is what Villa wants for the player.

Any thoughts on why Bailly doesn't start before Lindelof?
How do you guys rate him?

Trololo

1.) 27 Sep 2020 15:57:12
I think Maguire is the problem. The analysis that Rio on both Maguire and Lindelof was very interesting. It really somes up how poor Maguire is.

City have just signed a quality player in Dias. 1.

2.) 27 Sep 2020 16:18:21
Where can I see that analysis?

3.) 27 Sep 2020 16:34:31
Sadly because he’s made of glass and is constantly broken.

4.) 27 Sep 2020 16:45:37
He isn't broken at the moment, or past few months, yet he gets no chance.

5.) 27 Sep 2020 17:16:36
Trolo just type it into a search engine. It was for bt sport.
Beggars belief that mistakes like that are still happening. Surely the coaches can see that and work on it.

6.) 27 Sep 2020 18:01:29
On BT sport, gonon YouTube. It shows how sloppy Maguire is and more so how he cost Utd goals by not get back.

7.) 27 Sep 2020 22:38:30
Thanks guys!

Thorne, well, Porgo does want to sell him, the reason is irrelevant. They want to earn some money, rather than letting him go for free next season. No one wants to pay what they ask, so is he worth only what we offer?
Sure, we want to get rid of him, but not for any price given. Do you see difference between Jones and Smalling? No one wants Jones, and Smalling has several takers. that's why we are selling Smalling instead of Jones, because someone actually wants him.
Anyway, my point is that "player is worth what a club is willing to pay" isn't all that simple.

I do understand what you wanted to say, but it isn't that simple. Maybe we should take Telles as an example then? On his way out, less contract time than Smalling, close to his age. If we should let Smalling go for, let's say 15 mil, should Porto lower their price as well? Since we don't value Telles at 20 either? Smalling had a very good season, his price is fair, I don't agree we should lower it. I do agree that we should somehow give Rojo, Jones and Lingard, for free even, but not Smalling.

So, if we value Sancho at 100mil, Dortmund should just sell him to us, because "player is worth what another club will pay for him"?

I could partially agree on that Ed004. I suppose PSG could be an option, but it is questionable if he would want to go to France, as I heard, he would prefer playing and living in England. I still don't think Chelsea will go for him next season, if they didn't go for him now. They had a good chance now as well, but they opted for Haverc. Liverpool story seems likely, but has too many "ifs". Not sure they would give 120 mil for Sancho, if they won't pay 30 mil for Thiago. Also, I guess they would want over 100 mil for Mane or Salah, so it is questionable if Barcelona would pay that - maybe they would do a swap with Dembele.
Who knows, time will tell.

Sure, I agree on that, but he was still 33 years old in last year of contract. I just took it as a close example, what they did to Inter, and what are we doing to them. Maybe karma, or something :D
Still, Smalling did very good for them, he blended in very well, and was voted in team of the season, in his first season. That should count for something.
I guess if it was a question of only 1-2 mil, we would already sell him for 18-19 mil total. But it seems Roma isn't even that close to our price.

So, Shan, beating PSG with kids isn't good enough, and beating them now again isn't good enough either? 3 players, really? Be at least a bit more realistic.

Chelseas best chance in the match was Maguires move, while we had at least 3 good scoring chances, but their GK had a great day. We weren't fantastic, but we were much better than 2-3 weeks before.
Everybody saying "oh, there is 7 tough matches in front of us, God help us all", but when we come with 2 wins and 1 draw after 3 games, its suddenly bad.

Both OGS and Lampard went into the game with counter atacking in their mind, thus providing a boring first half. And yet, Rashford could have opened the game with a bit better shot. As the game went on, we were quite better than Chelsea. I think Ole did go for a win and had good idea with the subs, except for James who had to be subbed much earlier.

On a side note, is it just me, or our bench suddenly looked good, with players who can change something?

Perhaps he subbed players at half time because he saw no coming back from that result with a player less on the pitch?

What is the general opinion on Bielsa, why doesn't he get offers from "top" clubs? Is it his personality perhaps?

He played less in PSG last season, because they wanted to get rid of him. He isn't that injury prone as u make it and he does score goals. We now have another good option at striker position.
Is it the best possible signing? Ofcourse not. It isn't the worst either. let's see what happens.
What I agree on is that his wages are too high, but if he score goals, I won't mind that.
