I have just read two rumours:

First, that United is interested in Hudson-Odoi - how could he fit to the squad? Is he strictly LW or he can play more positions?

And second, that United is looking to sign another GK (Schmeichel) and that Henderson isn't ready for a first choice GK. Not mentioned what is happening to DDG. I don't see a reason to bring another GK, while we need to focus on strengthening other positions, so this couldn't be true, could it?

Another click bait rumour doing rounds today is United offering Sanchez, Smalling and cash to Inter in exchange For Milan Skriniar.

2.) 02 Aug 2020 11:02:13
Just a hunch, but I would say there is zero basis for either rumour and the papers are making up stories.

3.) 02 Aug 2020 12:07:44
I was thinking the same. Would like that exchange with Inter tho.

4.) 02 Aug 2020 12:32:23
I wouldn't want Skriniar at all. While he is a better defender than all our current options, he looks slow in the fairly leisurely paced Serie A. I think he'd be murdered every week in the hurly burly end to end EPL.

Hi Ed, is there any truth in United being linked to James Rodriguez?
Further more, could he be a good fit?
Would signing James mean United would not go for Grealish?

Thanks!

Trololo

{Ed002's Note - James Rodriguez (AM) - a high end Columbian is wanted in Miami with JR the preferred choice but JR will want more time in Europe with Juventus and Manchester United the preference. Juventus were open to replacing Dybala and have lost out on Eriksen and expect their first choice AM player to complete a move elsewhere, so James Rodriguez might well be an option but right now the situation with Dybala has been resolved. Manchester United still want an AM who can cover the left James and offer something different to Bruno Fernandes - and JM will talk with them. The preference is Grealish but JR is a far cheaper option. Wolves have "strong ties" with JM but a move there remains very unlikely.

Thanks Ed!

Is there any deal that United is close to finish?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer "close" questions.}

2.) 27 Jul 2020 12:56:53
I personally hope we get Grealish. He looks to be ready to take a step up whilst James has been at top clubs already and it doesn't seem to have worked out so you'd have to question his desire.

3.) 27 Jul 2020 13:29:09
Close in terms of details being agreed with at least one side (club or the player) :)
Its kinda frustrating that we always prolong the deals we make.

Dark Knight, I would agree about James, but I didn't really look at Grealish, and I certainly wouldn't like United to pay 60-70 mil, just because he is English nationality player.

4.) 27 Jul 2020 16:54:37
I´m from ColOmbia (not ColUmbia), but first of all I´m a MU fan.
Right now I would not like JR with the MU shirt, to me is clear that he has an attitude problem; I believe he would end at Newcastle or Everton and may recover his form, but he is not used to English football, and may struggled as most of other colombian players have struggled in the past.
It would be a major improvement of players like Fred (That I hate) or Pereira but I don’t think it is what MU need.

5.) 27 Jul 2020 16:54:57
I agree its a lot of money but the way i look at it is we get a very good squad player who will be fighting for a first team place so he would have to up his game which could make him into a top player. He'd be a good player to bring in if Rashford, Martial or Greenwood have a dip in form. i'd rather bring him in than Lingard, Perrera or Daniel James tbh.

6.) 27 Jul 2020 17:53:03
I could agree on that, he is better than mentioned players for sure, but I hate seeing how English players are overpriced, just because of nationality. Maguire wasnt worth 80 mil, and i don't think Grealish is worth 70, which is what Villa wants for the player.

Sure Ed, my bad in that one sentence, it could have been more polite, but in the end, that still counts just as my opinion (thinking that Mumbles is wrong), and certainly doesn't mean Mumbles can't have his (which I didn't say anyway) .

I would just leave it at that, since I don't see the point in arguing about that any further.

Its about arguments, not just the opinion.

The way you commented it Ed, sounds like we can't have our opinions either.

The point is Mumble is clinging on Grealish signing, which won't happen and which we are all against (at least as I have noticed) .

I merely gave my opinion, half disagreeing (about Sancho) and half agreeing (about Grealish) with Mumbles, and in the end just asked a simple question:
"In the end, its better to bring in a quality product, rather then few questionable players, or you would disagree? "

So, Ed, it isn't that simple as you put it.

I apologize to Mumbles if my sentence offended him that much ("Mumbles, you are wrong on so many levels"), but other than that, I don't see my how my post is not letting Mumbles having his opinion.

Trololo

{Ed047's Note - you started the post by telling Mumbles he was wrong on so many levels as you’ve identified, what’s wrong with saying ok I get your thought process but in my opinion....🤷‍♂️

At no point did I question your right to an opinion or anyone else’s and if that’s what you got from that one sentence I’m afraid there’s not a lot I can do to help you, its a little ridiculous.

@Angelred

How much managers did we change since he is here? How many times we changed tactics following our change of managers? How old was he when he came to United? How many games he played in his preferred position?
It isn't simple as that Angelred.

Ken, sure there would be players who would bring more, but its questionable if its really "a lot" of players. Plus, how much would that replacement cost?

We do have much bigger problems on other positions, and Martial is bringing more than average, I would say.

Of course, I totally understand that you dislike a player, I dislike Lingard for example.

And you couldn't make a worse mistake than that Ken.

I could agree that he looks annoying, rarely smiles, looks like all his hopes are gone, but that doesn't mean much.

He is a very good player, not to mention that he and Rashford have very good connections, which means a lot for the attackers.

While Jimenez is a good player, he is 5 years older, its questionable if he could fit so easily in the team, and I don't see him bringing in much more than Martial.

Also, worth mentioning is that Martial is finally playing in best position for him.

I do agree Shappy that the defense there is weaker, what I'm saying is that English defenders aren't that great as you deem them to be.

There is no guarantee of that. The season Eintracht finished 7th in their league, was the season where Chelsea struggled to beat them. It went to penalties. Chelsea had easier time beating Arsenal in final, than beating Eintracht. Sure, that's just an example, I wouldn't base my opinion just on one match, but no one can guarantee how a team would do in another league.

They are challenging because of the style of the league, they go for a goal more, every team there does. Their league can't compare to EPL and La Liga, mostly because of Bayern, but there are some pretty good players there. Also, Bayern tends to pick up most of the quality players from Germany, and most of the players seemingly want to stay in Germany and join Bayern, rather than joining EPL.

Erm, Kompany? Mertesacker? Soyuncu the latest (maybe not top player yet, but quite good) .

Some atacking players as well. Maybe not too much RWs, but some serious LWs and AMs came from Bundes.

You could make a case like that for almost any position / player / league.

You are overselling the defense of English clubs. It's not that Germans have such a weak defense, its more that they play different style of football, more atacking based. Also, I don't see Rashford being much stronger physically than Sancho, and he doesn't seem to have much problem with it.

Sancho had 17 goals and 17 assists in Bundesliga, in 32 matches. And of course he didn't play every minute of it. Its not easy to get those numbers in any league.

Sure it doesn't mean he will produce the same number, but getting double digits will do just fine if you ask me.

I have read the same thing as RedD. Overall wages will depend on bonuses, which is fine imo. If he isn't injured, if he scores and assists, he will get way more money, he should be trying hard to fulfill those bonuses.

What about switching him to other position? As a creative/ atacking midfielder or wing, he simply doesn't show enough, no goals, no assists.
However, he seems to be very aggressive, he wins a lot of balls, he runs a lot, press opponents.
Just a thought.
